EElopa: There are levels to football. If you play in the championship, you will never make an English national team. If you play in the championship, you will never make a Brazilian, Spanish, French, or Argentinian national team. We need to stop this nonsense that where a player plays does not matter. I agree that some players developed into proper international-level footballers later on in their careers, and yes, I have seen some players that have come from the Championship and developed into elite-level Premier League players. The thing about it is that as you develop in the later years of your career, the growth in your game will be noticed, and you will be rescued from the championship. Femi Azeez is a case study; he showed his quality in the championship, and he is essentially on his way to the Premier League.
The notion that you have this quality player in this backwater league who for years has demonstrated his qualities but was just so unfortunate to be noticed just does not sit well with me because it is just a fallacy.
I was watching the Nigeria U20 tournament, and it took me 15 mins to totally identify Benjamin Fredericks. I turned around and I told my friend that this boy is going places and will be in the Super Eagles in less than 2 years. I watched Chubuike Nwaiwu for the first time in his first game with Trabzonspor, and I knew he had a high ceiling and was supereargles ready. Trapzenspour just rejected a 30 million pound bid from West Ham. Bayer Leverkusen and Fulham are all coming for him.
Juniho Paulista and Joan Pedro made Brazil team as England Chamoionship player

Pls how many second tier players are playing for us
EElopa: Football is not rocket science, and when somebody tries to convince me that a player playing in South Africa is better than a player playing in Serie A, I just laugh at how ridiculous that sounds. This might have been the case 30 years ago, but football is now a global sport and a business for that matter. A lot of European clubs have extensive scouting departments, so if you are good, you will be discovered.
A classmate of mine in high school who was very good immediately left for a Croatian team called HNK Gorica that discovered him through scouting in Abuja. When a player is playing in the South African league, he is not there because he was unlucky or has a bad agent; he is there because he has been extensively scouted and there are so many deficiencies in his game.
South African players at this level just can not score or create chances. We can play another 24 hours; I don't think South Africa would have scored in this game. I don't even think they registered a shot on target against a very mediocre Canadian team.
When you watch them, you will see why they are in South Africa, and that is because there are deficiencies to their game. Their best player on the pitch, Mbokazi, plays for Chicago Fire, and you can see he was levels above his teammates, and with his performance today, he will probably be heading to Europe. The guy that scored the only open-play goal that they had in this tournament, Maseko, plays in Europe and not the South African league.
There are levels to this game, and this is why there is a strong correlation between the league a player plays in and his quality. A player playing in South Africa can never under any circumstance be better in any position than a Serie A player.
JHmm,Okoye is better than Nwabali?cuz he is in Seria A😄Oga Rowen William would be number one in some clubs in seria A
Equalled Cameroon record of Espana 82,though Cameroon did not made it to round of 8 despite not losing any of their matches, they drew Peru,Poland and eventual winner Italy....teams should thank FIFA for expansion, then not easy to qualify,Africa had two slots, increased to three in 1994,reason why i do give respect to eagles of 80s to early 90s,imagine 10 slots and missed out,i pity this generation if they failed to qualify for next WC then i don't see any of them in all time eagles XI.
Goke7: Shebi we saw how ex player obinna Nsofor was gushing on social media when he finally got his Italian citizenship! Mikel stay put at Chelsea including sitting on the bench till he got his British citizenship. Na the way o e go be like say person na mumu but tomorrow is always pregnant
Goke, nothing better developed countries citizenship o
Napoleon55: Wait first na until the deal is confirmed before you conclude.
Akor Adams doesn't seem like the one with this low low thing you are describing him with
There is nothing like "these Nigerian players lack ambition and motivation to reach the highest level", it's not all their fault, it's more difficult for Nigerians especially to get signed by the top top clubs, and they can't sign themselves.
Or do you think Osimhen for instance lacked ambition? Why haven't the top clubs signed him? It was only Galatasaray that came to his rescue with as low as €75m when Napoli was dealing with him. But the top clubs were busy buying other players he was better than with huge amounts of money.
Many go just dey blame our players as if it is easy, most of our players especially Nigeria born are from poor homes,so money is the motivational factor....
I can say much about Awoniyi Taiwo, yes his Dad was a prison officer, not top or mid officer but low cadre, his mum petty trader, struggling for survival,so money is just the factor in any of their decisions, saw Okocha recently in Benz GT63 2023 model meaning he got it right financially.........Taiwo Awoniyi was in town recently and a locsl journalist asked him,why not big big cars cuz he preffered using relatively old Sienna anytime in town, his replied was simple, buying 500m to a billion naira car,my papa go flog me o.
It is like blaming anyone that left what we perceived as a good job here for hustling job in US,UK or Canada, what matter most in this life is how you secure your family future financially, nothing more.....a friend of mine years back left banking job as a branch manager to Canada, when asked why,he said anytime he wake up he always crying for his children cuz he was failing as a father and only way out for him who is from poor home is to secure their future,he left and his happy for that decision.
This players are humans and they need to secure their futures financially cuz at the end we would asked them what do they used their money for aftet retiring.
Thompson Oliha dead with no money,he came to Ilorin as assistant to Westerhoff in KFA but guess what, nothing,he was broke and i asked him why,he said he did not had fulfilled financial club career like others, depression killed him, always smoking, drinking heavily...I have many ex footballers as friends and i can tell you it is not easy for them financially, some got addicted to drugs, some die due to depression, some are on Awoniyi monthly stipends ...now i do not blame players who chooses money cuz poverty na bad thing o
Stop mis using quote, the issue here is Ozekhome a criminal, tell us what you know about him?nothing than being your tribe man...anytime it involves your men even in criminality you always trying to deviate instead of condemning the act
AndSunGorilla: Oga Dokita, your Period no dey end?? I don read let's end this and then period, but the think just dey flow on dey go. For me, Teslim Thunder Balogun is the GOAT, FULLSTOP PERIOD.
Thompson Usiyen is the GOAT,better than Yekini and Thunder Balogun,O'PARI
SolaFide: Three Nigerians Among Liverpool's Six Internal Options to Replace Konate
Liverpool could look within their academy ranks for a solution to the expected departure of defender Ibrahima Konate, with three Nigerian-eligible youngsters emerging as potential candidates for a first-team promotion.
According to a report by owngoalnigeria, Konate's decision to join Spanish giants Real Madrid has prompted the club to reassess its defensive options ahead of the new season.
New manager Andoni Iraola is expected to use Liverpool's pre-season preparations to evaluate several promising young centre-backs before deciding whether the club needs to sign an experienced replacement.
The Spaniard reportedly has a shortlist of six academy defenders under consideration, with three of them eligible to represent Nigeria at international level.
Leading the group is 20-year-old Wellington Lucky.
Although born in Spain, the defender has already pledged his international future to Nigeria and is regarded as one of the standout prospects in Liverpool's youth setup.
Also in contention is Noah Adekoya, a 19-year-old centre-back who joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Burnley during the January transfer window.
Born in England, Adekoya remains eligible to play for Nigeria and has yet to feature for either nation at any level.
The third Nigerian-eligible defender on the list is Ifeanyi Ndukwe, another January recruit who arrived from Austrian club Austria Vienna and is scheduled to officially link up with Liverpool this summer.
The 18-year-old has represented Austria at youth levels from the U-17 to U-21 teams, but still qualifies to play for Nigeria through his parents.
anonimi: Tell us who your master strategist expected Jonathan to hand over to before 2015, when he went to Kaduna to beg Buhari to be president, after making Nigeria ungovernable with his Jagaban of Borgu northern bandits
Oga get it clear,Tinubu played his card very well as opposition and Goodluck fell for it...the issue now can Obi and Atiku on ballot paper defeat Tinubu?why not Obi vs Tinubu cuz president is not leaving South come 2027.
Ofunaofu: Tinubu should simply heed his own advice and resign over insecurity.
It's that simple.
You told Goodluck Jonathan to resign because of insecurity. Today, under your administration, insecurity is arguably worse.
By your own standard, shouldn't you heed your own advice and resign?
Yes he told Goodluck to resign but Goodluck did not so Tinubu too will not resign, even United States presidents always finding it difficult to resign,so get your PVC and do the needful by voting against Tinubu, nothing more
trappatoni: The Governor has really done well with regards to allowing fairness to reign...he is a man of honour.
His Excellency is from Kwara Central and these charlatans still want him to hand over to someone from the same region. This region has produced 3 Governors(Lawal, Saraki and the incumbent) from 1999 till now.
His Excellency Abdulfatah Ahmed who hails from Kwara South is the only oultlier and many even view his administrstion as an extension of Saraki's administration.
So it is not out of place to have a Governor from Kwara North. The last time this happened was in 1992 during the brief democratic dispensation under IBB.
The only crime the Governor has commited is being fair. Kwara Central has spent 20 years leading the state while Kwara South has 8 years.
It is the turn of Kwara North to produce the Governor......a primary was conducted and a candidate emerged. Every sane and loyal party member should get behind the winner instead of this show of shame.
Stop it man,the issue is not about not given Kwara North the chance but candidate he presented is not popular,we have men who are more credible than Danladi the present Speaker in Kwara North....bookmark this comment,Saraki is winning Kwara back and this is due to the governor selfish agenda not that people want Saraki back, even APC Elders in the state are going to vote for their enemy Saraki to score political point in state.
AndSunGorilla: With all due respect, none of them is like Mikel in any way sir.
Oh you do not know how i caryy Mikel matter for head abi...It is simple Chelle can use Iwobi/Ndidi to achieve it if na Africa football no be to win Afcon and qualify for WC we dey talk
darkelf: Okocha may not have started but if memory serves me well, they had Oliseh
Oliseh is known for accurate long passes. We don't have any DM of that calibre today
We just don't have such players right now and their Ebenezer Akinsanmiro na carpenter
I disagree bro,pls compare Westerhoff team with Keshi team to understand my point...Keshi did not have Okocha and Oliseh but still able to achieve what Westerhoff achieved.
AndSunGorilla: I disagree sir. Turkey actually has some very good players, Gular of Real Madrid, Yildiz of Juventus, Calhoglu of Inter, Kadoiglu of Brighton etc, they should be doing better than they did. Don't forget they have won 3rd place before at the WC in 2002. Brazil struggled to beat them then at the Semi finals.
Oga i never rate Turkey and if not for Osimhen very hard for me talking about anything relating to football in Turkey
caprikon: I think that in part was due to the presence of "creative" DMs/CMs like Oliseh. The buildup play of that team wasn't as predictable as it is today.
Any team that intends to stifle the current SE simply have to "control" Iwobi. Morocco gave the blueprint at the last AFCON.
I got your point but a good coach use what we have to win....I remenber Oliseh was suspended against Brazil and Garba Lawal was given the role and he did well...
darkelf: The Super 3agles really needs another creative midfielder. Iwobi alone isn't enough
Are we saying that we can't get another creative midfielder in Nigeria and diaspora. It's getting embarrassing at this point
If iwobi doesn't play, there's absolutely no creativity in that squad. Tats not good enough honestly
Chelle should go and learn how countries without real creative midfielders are doing it cuz without Okocha in starting line up in 1994 ,eagles are getting results, remeber Okocha did not start against Bulgaria,Argentina and Greece...football tactics is about what you have to get desire result
franchasng: There is nothing like South. We don't have any Southern Nigeria or let me say a United Southern Nigeria with one goal and voice
Be bold and say Southwest because Southwest only remember Southern unity when they want to drag Southeast and Southsouth into their cowardly political fallout with Northern Nigeria politicians.
Make una de una de because una no value Southeast and even SouthSouth on a normal, u only remember them when Una fall out with una Northern masters
Since 1999,Southwest produced two presidents and vice president if am right, and you think they are not getting it right, even last election they emerged without south east,so am not getting your point
