In my 3rd yr of high school, I came home with a report card of 17% in Math. My dad beat me all around the house and I was also very shamed of myself. I started avoiding shortcuts to fix math problems and spent more time on my assignments and asked quesdtions when necessary. In other words, I forced myself to face my fear of Math. I deliberately started taking addional math (or further math) classes and this made the mornal one a lot easier. I had in A1 in Math (WAEC) and a C4 in additional math. Even the additional math teacher couldnt believe it - he always called me out in class to let everyone know my dad was wasting his money on me where complex math was concerned. Thank God I can now boast of a bachelors degree in Nuclear Physics and a Masters degree in Telecommunications. So, it's all about realising ur problem and facing it head-on. Force yourself to love it then practise like ur life depended on it. Good luck. |

we wrote a fake love letter from a guy to a girl he really couldnt stand during high school. The girl fell for it and went to meet this guy during lunchtime so the guy could buy her lunch (that was the way back then to show that she wanted him too). We stood at some distance watching when she went to meet him and the guy, already pissed that she was walking towards him and was like 'Can I help you?' with a mean and disgusting look. The sorry girl turned around, saw us all and immediately knew it was a setup. E-M-B-A-R-R-A-S-S-I-N-G!! ![]() |
We were playing soccer on the filed one day when we noticed some palm wine tapper had left his bike and climbed up a tree to go get pami. Afriend got on the bike and started riding around the field - Come and see as the man on the tree was screaming like a goat about to be slaughtered - he couldnt easily get down the palm wine tree so all he could do was scream at tthe guy on the bike. we laff tire. |
Na wah oooooooooooooo I fear for you ladies!!! There was a valley at the back of some girls' secondary school where they all used to go n commit attrocities. I once watched a some girl fight where they stripped themsleves naked and one of them beat the other to pulp then she poured sand into her mouth. na spiky, you could not have met this cousin of mine - she left Akure in 1992. I used to go there every visiting day back then |
A couple of use used to squat under the table and show each other our privates back in primary school. think it was myslef, some other guy and two girls. I saw one of the girls several years later and she was too shy to talk to me and so was I. I guess the memories came rushing right back. |
what yr did you leave akure? had a close cousin that went to akure as well so I know a whole bunch of her friends. She went to primary school in switzerland, started secondary school in akure, can home for the holidays and was chasing snakes all over the place - she said she used to sleep with them back in that ur akure school |
I got an applause at the time (80s) - cos the guy was mean to everyone in class. had this rubberband that he used to terrorize us with. But like I said, All is well. |
