"What is repentance and is it necessary for salvation?"

Many understand the term repentance to mean “turning from sin.” This is not the biblical definition of repentance. In the Bible, the word repent means “to change one’s mind.” The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions (Luke 3:8-14; Acts 3:19). Acts 26:20 declares, “I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.” The full biblical definition of repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of action.

What, then, is the connection between repentance and salvation? The Book of Acts seems to especially focus on repentance in regards to salvation (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30; 20:21; 26:20). To repent, in relation to salvation, is to change your mind in regard to Jesus Christ. In Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost (Acts chapter 2), he concludes with a call for the people to repent (Acts 2:38). Repent from what? Peter is calling the people who rejected Jesus (Acts 2:36) to change their minds about Him, to recognize that He is indeed “Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). Peter is calling the people to change their minds from rejection of Christ as the Messiah to faith in Him as both Messiah and Savior.

Repentance and faith can be understood as “two sides of the same coin.” It is impossible to place your faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior without first changing your mind about who He is and what He has done. Whether it is repentance from willful rejection or repentance from ignorance or disinterest, it is a change of mind. Biblical repentance, in relation to salvation, is changing your mind from rejection of Christ to faith in Christ.

It is crucially important that we understand repentance is not a work we do to earn salvation. No one can repent and come to God unless God pulls that person to Himself (John 6:44). Acts 5:31 and 11:18 indicate that repentance is something God gives—it is only possible because of His grace. No one can repent unless God grants repentance. All of salvation, including repentance and faith, is a result of God drawing us, opening our eyes, and changing our hearts. God's longsuffering leads us to repentance (2 Peter 3:9), as does His kindness (Romans 2:4).

While repentance is not a work that earns salvation, repentance unto salvation does result in works. It is impossible to truly and fully change your mind without that causing a change in action. In the Bible, repentance results in a change in behavior. That is why John the Baptist called people to “produce fruit in keeping with repentance” (Matthew 3:cool. A person who has truly repented from rejection of Christ to faith in Christ will give evidence of a changed life (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:19-23; James 2:14-26). Repentance, properly defined, is necessary for salvation. Biblical repentance is changing your mind about Jesus Christ and turning to God in faith for salvation (Acts 3:19). Turning from sin is not the definition of repentance, but it is one of the results of genuine, faith-based repentance towards the Lord Jesus Christ.

@ banom,

I realized i was mistaken in my idea that there is no God or creator, while there could be enough reason for me to say there is no God, there is also a Super evidence that there is God , ( For God's sake i didn't create myself , and who ever that created me is my God)  the thought actually came to me that i am a natural being, and my creator must be Super natural in other to have created me,  and just as artificial things like Cars and airplane  that  we human beings invent and create on earth don't have the ability to comprehend any thing about us, so i do not have the ability to comprehend any thing about God,  while i was thinking of all this things, i really felt sorry and i prayed and apologized to God to forgive me

Lk 15:4-7

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

@viaro,

Thank you, kolaxy.

First, notice that in verse 1 both the heavens are mentioned together without any day separating between them:

'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth'

No day separated this distinct declaration as if the heavens were first created and then the earth later came into existence the next day. I think when we disregard the very first verse, a whole lot of unrelated thinking are poured forth.

Next, we come to the first bolded line in your quote, which appears in verse 5:

'And the evening and the morning were the first day.'

But just here is another problem: people who think the earth was left out on the first day have missed verse 2 again where the earth is already mentioned before the "first day" was marked in verse 5. Together, this is what both verses 1 and 2 declare about the earth:

'In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.' [v. 1]

'And the earth was without form, and void . .' [v. 2]

This is clearly attesting to the fact that both the heavens and the earth were created in the beginning - no day separating between them; and verse 5 mentions the "first day" only after both verse 1 and 2 have clearly stated the fact of the creation of the earth before verse 5!

Now, what about verse 8? It declares the second day after stating that the firmament which divided waters from waters was named the "heavens". This does not mean we should discard what verse 1 states: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"; nor should we forget that the earth was also mentioned in verse 1 and 2 before the "first day" in verse 5.

The same thing with verse 10 - "And God called the dry land Earth" does not mean that was when the earth was created, unless we want to deliberately ignore verse 1 and 2 about the creation of the earth mentioned together with the heavens without any day separating them.

It was for this reason (or reasons) that I earlier hinted that if we're not careful, we shall be reading an additional day to make the creation week a 7 day period with the divine rest on the 8th day. As long as we understand and take seriously what verse 1 states about the creation of the earth without any day separating that from the creation of the heavens, we shall not have to be faced with undue problems.

Thanks once again for your response. Honestly, had I checked through your posts on the 1st and 2nd page of this thread, I would've perfectly known where you are 'coming from'. And there wouldn't have been any need for all these. My point was based on the following Bible verse which you've thoroughly discussed with Modupe01.

Exodus 20:11

"For in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."

So, once again, thanks for your time. wink

Hi Viaro,

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Please what's your view on the above bolded statements in Genesis 1:1-13. Thanks

In Job 38:4-7, we understand that the angels had already been created before God laid the foundation of the earth. Verse 4 asks the question: "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" It continues until until the climax in verse 7 - "when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" How would these beings (the morning stars and all the sons of God) have rejoiced to see God laying the foundation of the earth if they were not already created before that time? How long they had been created before the earth, we are not told. The simple fact is that they preceded the creation of the earth - and that is one of the things that we do not read about in Genesis 1.

You are very right with the above statements however, we know in that same Gen 1 that  the Heaven was created a day before the earth. If the Heaven was created a day before the earth, it is wise to conclude that all its(Heaven) creatures(angels, Lucifer inclusive) were created before the foundation of the earth(a day or 24hours)according to the verses I gave in my last post above. So, according to the Holy Bible, for me, the Heaven or Universe or Earth is not a Million or Billion year old. Thanks

@uplawal

@kOLAXY,but what is really needed for the atonement of the sin of humanity,is it both jesus human and jesus god or just simply only jesus human?

Answer: The BLOOD of JESUS

As descendants of Adam and Eve, all people inherit the effects of the Fall. In our fallen state, we are subject to opposition and temptation. When we give in to temptation, we are alienated from God, and if we continue in sin, we experience spiritual death, being separated from His presence. We are all subject to temporal death, which is the death of the physical body.

The only way for us to be saved is for someone else to rescue us. We need someone who can satisfy the demands of justice—standing in our place to assume the burden of the Fall and to pay the price for our sins. Jesus Christ has always been the only one capable of making such a sacrifice.

From before the Creation of the earth, the Saviour has been our only hope for "peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come".

Only He had the power to lay down His life and take it up again. From His mortal mother, Mary, He inherited the ability to die. From His immortal Father, He inherited the power to overcome death. He declared, "As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself" (John 5:26).

Only He could redeem us from our sins. God the Father gave Him this power . The Saviour was able to receive this power and carry out the Atonement because He kept Himself free from sin: "He suffered temptations but gave no heed unto them" . Having lived a perfect, sinless life, He was free from the demands of justice. Because He had the power of redemption and because He had no debt to justice, he could pay the debt for those who repent. wink
Religion / The Physical Death Of Jesus On The Cross by kolaxy(m): 2:35am On Nov 23, 2009
The physical death of Jesus on the cross is what brings us eternal salvation, forgiveness of all of our sins, and full entrance into heaven when we die and cross over.

1. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood ,  for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." (Leviticus 17:11)

2. "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures , " (1 Corinthians 15:3)

3. "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." (Ephesians 1:7)

4. "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been made near by the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13)

5. "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13)

6. "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:28)

7. ", ,  and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity." (Ephesians 2:14)

8. "But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins ,  By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." (Hebrews 10:3,10)

9. ", ,  who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed." (1 Peter 2:24)

10. "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed ,  (Isaiah 53:5)

11. "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

12. ", ,  that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil , "(Hebrews 2:14)

13. ", ,  and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father , " (Revelation 1:5)

14. Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations , " (Luke 24:46)

15. "For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross." (Colossians 1:19)

16. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)

17. , ",  He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself ,  so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many." (Hebrews 9:26,28)

After reading all of these specific verses, I do not think there is any other possible interpretation other than the physical death of Jesus on the cross is what gives us full forgiveness and remission of all our sins, eternal salvation with God the Father, and full entrance into heaven when we die and cross over.

Notice the specific words in some of these verses:

That Jesus "died for our sins."
That we are redeemed "through His blood."
That we have been reconciled back to God "through the blood of His cross."
That our sins have been put away by the "sacrifice of Himself."

Any liberal who tries to interpret these verses any other way is really treading on extremely dangerous ground with God the Father. After watching the horrible death of His Son on that cross, and going to the extreme lengths to which He went to send and sacrifice His one and only Son in order to deliver and save all of us from eternal damnation - I do not think there is any slack with God the Father on this issue if any liberal tries to take away what the real meaning of the crucifixion is all about!

@olabowale,

Lets just accept that the finger was not crushed so badly or the tissues were dead before the reattachment operation began, since we see that some limbs are still lost even today with all the technologies in Medicine! But can the patient be scarless after the cut and the reattachment, and is your god ever going to be the same unscarrred, whole as if Jesus did not die, according to you?

When we consider the scars on Jesus hands and feet from the nails, and in his side from the spear, we remember the severe pain and suffering Jesus must have gone through. But the story doesn't end there. Much like our scars, Jesus scars also remind us of God's grace. Jesus scars remind us that the grave is not the end but the beginning. God is not just the God of those who still walk on this earth; God is the God of all creation, God is the God of all the saints who have gone on before us.

Jesus scars remind us that even a large stone covering a tomb cannot stop God. When the world said, "It is finished" God said, "Oh no, I've only just begun." "Death does not have the final word, I do."

Jesus scars remind us that you won't find the living among the dead. The open tomb, and resurrected Christ, clearly tells us that nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the love and grace of God. Jesus is the truth and the resurrection, and because he lives we will live also.

To God be the glory, for the great things he has done!

@Mushin

Hellow kolaxy and all,

Thanks to you for the responses. I'll respond to particularly your reply later, God's willing.

More-over, you all seem to have not noticed the second part of my question, and thats: can Christians produce a single verse from the Bible where Jesus ever claimed to have two natures, or where he claimed to have a divine and human nature all in one, being fully man, and fully God, and where he made such a distinction?

Thanks once again.

Thanks Mushin.

The following chart should help you see the two natures of Jesus "in action":

  As GOD                                                                                        As  MAN
He is worshiped (Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33).                     He worshiped the Father (John 17).
He was called God (John 20:28; Heb. 1:8 )                He was called man (Mark 15:39; John 19:5).
He was called Son of God (Mark 1:1)                        He was called Son of Man (John 9:35-37)
He is prayed to (Acts 7:59).                                      He prayed to the Father (John 17).
He is sinless (1 Pet. 2:22; Heb. 4:15).                      He was tempted (Matt. 4:1).
He knows all things (John 21:17).                            He grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52).
He gives eternal life (John 10:28).                            He died (Rom. 5:8 ).
All the fullness of deity dwells in Him (Col. 2:9).       He has a body of flesh and bones (Luke 24:39).

@Mushin

Let me give you a simple illustration in human term perhaps you may get the picture or otherwise.Let's assume someone cut off one of your fingers(God forbid). The first thing that happens is that, all part of your body feels the pain. But does that make you a dead man? Absolutely No. You are still Mushin. The whole part of your body feels the pain as soon as your finger was cut off but with the new technology in place, your finger will be perfectly restored and after some time, gradually, it heals and you feel better. However, the scar remains.

The above scenario was exactly what happened in the spiritual context when Jesus Christ died on the cross of calvary. Being part of God, he was cut off from God because of his love for the human race and his acceptance to substitute himself as sacrifice for our sins in order to save us. Being part of God, God felt the pain (like you will do if your finger was cut off). But, our sins(darkness) on Jesus was unbearable for God to bear not because Jesus was condemned but because of our sins and Jesus was abandoned/forsaken by God on the cross. That's why Jesus cried on the cross and said, 'Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani!' That is to say,  My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?" he was on his own from that point till he ascended back  to God.

In relation to the above scenario, does Jesus crucifixion made God dead? Absolutely No. God remains God.After Jesus's resurrection,he ascended back to God in order to be re-united with God as before, just like your finger was restored back to you in the above scenario. However, the scar on his body still remains. This proofs that truthfully, he suffered all the pain of the crucifixion. And he's at right hand of God now supplicating on ourbehalf by showing God the scars on his body whenever Satan come to accuse of sins.

Read the following major events that took place during Jesus crucifixion, resurrection and ascension;

Darkness at mid-day
Jesus’ crucifixion began around 9 am (Mk. 15:25). For the next three hours, Jesus’ enemies mocked him (read

Matt. 27:39-44). And then at noon, something remarkable happened (read Mt. 27:45). For three hours (noon to

3 pm), “darkness fell upon all the land.”

The torn temple curtain

Read Matt. 27:50-51. Immediately after Jesus died, the curtain of the temple was “torn in two from top to

bottom.”

The temple curtain was no ordinary curtain (60 feet long, 30 feet high, and about 4 inches thick; composed of 72

squares sewn together; so heavy that it required 300 men to lift it). For it to be torn suddenly from top to bottom

(rather than gradually fraying from bottom to top) would indeed be a noteworthy event-especially for Jewish

people.

The earthquake & emptied tombs

But Jesus’ death accomplished even more for us and this is indicated by the final dramatic event. Read Matthew

27:51-53.

This earthquake was no ordinary earthquake. It occurred immediately after Jesus' death, and it opened certain

rock tombs near Golgotha-the tombs of believers (probably people came to faith in Jesus as the Messiah during

his public ministry). 36 hours later, after Jesus had been resurrected, they emerged from the cemetery and

appeared to people in Jerusalem who had known them-not as zombies, but as people who had been delivered

from death!

After the resurrection Jesus was able to eat (Luke 24:42-43).

He showed people His hands and feet, with the nail prints in them (Luke 24:51; John 20:27), and people even

grabbed His feet and worshipped Him (Matt. 28:9).  If Jesus' body had not risen, then He would not have feet

and hands with the same holes of the nails of the crucifixion.  It is obvious that Jesus was raised in the same

body in which He died, with the same holes in His hands and feet. We see that Jesus proclaimed He had flesh

and bones. Does a "spirit body" consist of flesh and bones?  Not at all.

Finally, 1 John 2:22-23 "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist,

the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who

confesses the Son has the Father also."

My answer to your question as a christian is that, Jesus came in human flesh and while on earth, he was worshipped by men and women and he accepted their worships. For instance, check the following:

"And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." -Matthew 8:2

"While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live." -Matthew 9:18

"Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God." -Matthew 14:33

"Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me." -Matthew 15:25

"Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him." -Matthew 20:20

"And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him." -Matthew 28:9

"And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted." -Matthew 28:17

"And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean(evil) spirit, But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him" -Mark 5:2, 6 (Note this verse pls.If Jesus was just a prophet, he won't be respected or worshipped by evil spirit like some fake prophets). All these shows that Jesus is God the son.

But now, according to the above scenario, Jesus Christ(God the son) is back with God so how do we worship God? God wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. In order to do this, we need to know the truth as provided by the Bible instead of following our own direction.

What is the TRUTH? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me-John14:6. In order words, because of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, there's no other way to worship God but through Jesus. No direct access. If you call God without through the Name of Jesus, the Name above every other name, then your worship will be in vain. Please read the ff verses for proof. Peace

Philipians 2:5-11

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in very naturea God,

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7but made himself nothing,

taking the very natureb of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8And being found in appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

and became obedient to death—

even death on a cross!

9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

and gave him the name that is above every name,

10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.

Some of Satan's tricks to get us to lose faith

Trick 1. Tell us to look only at the problem at hand. And try to get us, to act before we think. Matt. 4: 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Answer. Love God and His Will, more than your problem at hand. Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Answer. Know that God cares about and for you! Genesis 48:15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Trick 2. Get us to think like the World. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Answer. Go to the Bible first! Mat.4: 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

It will renew your mind! Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Answer. Also, pray to God for a clear mind, and an answer. James 1: 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Answer. Love God more than the world. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Answer. Let God and His word, renew your mind and spirit. Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Trick 3. To get us to set our minds on the riches of the world. Matt.4: 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

Answer. To remind the Devil, that we are to worship God, and not riches! Matt. 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Answer. Also, worldly riches will pass away. 1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Trick 4. To try to get us, to think that all troubles come from God! Job 2:7 ¶ So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

Answer. Many troubles are from Satan himself!

Trick 5. Satan will use people, which we love, to try and brake down our faith. Job 2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

Answer. Know that only God is right all of the time. Deuteronomy 32:4 "The Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and right is he.

@ Davidylan

We dont care for your opinion . . . as a moderator you should know better than derailing threads with your atheist agenda.
Why do you care what method the OP chooses to petition for the girl's safety? What is your problem with her simple request for prayer? Was it addressed to you? Did you care about the Rifqa's plight until this thread came up?

If actions speak louder than words pls save your preaching for other threads where they are genuinely needed.

Who really made you a mod? You're a disgusting example of corruption of power.

this is not the first time you are abusing your power to attack the free and inalienable right of a christian to his/her own personal opinion.

Thanks

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." (1 Thess. 4:13-18).

Luke 16:19-28

Parable of the The Rich Man and Lazarus

"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side.

The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

"For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: 'A dog returns to his own vomit,' and, 'a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire'" (2 Peter 2:20-22).

1. do u know anyone thats in Heaven?
2. And if you do can u provide proof that he or she is actually there?
3. All u have to do is provide thier Heavenly contact details and i'll be convinced.

1. do u know anyone thats in Heaven? Answer-Yes. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word(Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John5:7
2. And if you do can u provide proof that he or she is actually there? Answer-Yes. Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:2-3).
3. All u have to do is provide thier Heavenly contact details and i'll be convinced. OK, Heaven's Postcode is : John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.    wink

@mazaje

Expect him to quote another bible verse for you   grin grin

Jeremiah 23:28-29
Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD.  "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?  grin grin grin

1 Corinthians 1:18  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
