Earthquake2:He played last season at Hull as a RB and also at Brighton too. But l was not overly impressed infact I thought he was just about average. However, this season he is arguably the best CB in the Championship. He will have clubs queuing up for him in the EPL next season. I have NEVER EVER seen a forward thinking and progressive football team that is not continously looking to improve by inviting players who are consistently continously putting in top class performances in thier league and club. Particularly if they are in a top club and league. |
tbaba1234:Currently if we can get him first choice right now is FIKAYO TOMORI. |
Icon4s:One response in my philosophy. The best defence is in attack, you can ask Guardiola about that and see it personified in Manchester city. Which forward thinking team sits on a one goal lead ❓ |
tbaba1234:Agreed with no question asked |
Earthquake2:Agreed without question. I truly believe AINA is a lot better than him. |
We have had a lot of possession early on but we did not Kill off the match. We may yet regret this complacent approach. I am not OVERLY impressed we are improving but a lot if work to be done. We are now letting the Egyptians back into the game because we never KILLED IT OFF when we had all the possession without penetration. |
Icon79:Another issue lots of possession but no end product in terms of creating goal scoring chances. Limited penetration we are playing like we are leading 5-0 If we get complacent we may cry later on. We are not going for goal, THIS IS A PROBLEM. |
raindodger13:Paul Onauachu is looking so much BETTER. IMO the most positively influential player on the field. Essentially " Running Tings" |
TheGoodJoe: Agreed comprehensively without one iota of reservation. |
tbaba1234:Agreed that's not in dispute, however if we talk about high level that's another question. However, that's not the main consideration. Libya' s U23 team how many of thier players are playing hight quality first team competitive football ❓ Then beating them should be a formality not a matter of contention. Then put matters in perspective should U23 youth football performance be the basis of selection for the SE. ![]() Or rather top flight football consistent top performances in your league and club. ❓ |
Earthquake2:All matters in CONTEXT. In Porto B he has been anonymous and under achiever, he has been hyped but has never delivered. Is the Libya U23 team better than any of the top level teams in the Portuguese first division league. If the answer is No, then when faced with low level youth opposition he becomes a Lion. Anything above that and he has nothing to show. It is your club performance continous and consistent thay justifies your call up for the national team. Not playing youth games against mediocre national teams. If you look at England's U21 team you have players who have played 4/3 seasons of competitive senior football. Some even in the EPL. That's the kind of standard we should be striving for. |
safarigirl:My goodness it's you, l missed you sorry l am being sentimental and emotive Lol |
tbaba1234:I agree with you, the Bundesliga is not the EPL not all players can adapt so quickly. However, my reply to a post was made in the context of spurious allegation that Keita was being treated differently because he is an African. That is simply not true. The EPL is a very impatient league and time is a very scarce commodity. |
andrew444:What would you call him then after a £52 million transfer fee and he is unable to deliver to the required standard for the top level of the EPL. And your comments in bold are Balderdash. So they way Liverpool and the British media have idolised Salah and Mane and made them small gods it is because they are Caucasian English and related to Queen Elizabeth, abe ❓ Rethink what you have said and delete that notion from your mind. |
charlesemeka85:I remember talking about him ages ago. And as usual I got dogs abuse from so many. It further strengthens much view. That it is better to be a Killer Lion in a lower league than an anonymous mouse in a bigger club and league. Stand out players in the lower league will eventually get recognition. Expensive flops will eventually get demoted to the lower levels of football eventually too. I rest my case, now watch the NFF start to give him recognition that should have happened before not after. |
Icon4s:That's not an insult and or derogatory abuse. It's a descriptive term and opinion that you don't have to necessarily agree with. The term is used when a person anchors ⚓ thier assessment, position and or inferences not on objective measured and or substantiated facts but emotional sentiment birthed from prejudice and negativity. So what's wrong with that❓ Or would you prefer that descend to the level of vitriolic caustic rhetoric and depraved abuse that so many find very comfortable here. VERY SORRY THAT'S NOT ME, lt may be an anonymous forum. But you know, the good infallible word = Bible says you will give account of all your words even the careless ones. |
Icon4s:It's very simple. I prefer to talk about what l know or have let's say a lot of the time, first hand personal knowledge. Is that a crime ❓ Although l have some knowledge of Nigerian football but it's very superficial and l leave comments to you and BascoVanVeli. I quite appreciate your depth of knowledge too. Bit dissapointed I mean the bold, tell me one person l have called derogatory names on this thread. It's simply not what l would do |
ChrisKels:Why do you have too always descend to the gutter with your rhetoric. Your approach is so infantile and caustic it beggars belief that you may indeed be over 18. If you have nothing to say it's better to be quite and you will then be wrongly thought to be wise considering your past history. Oviemuno Ejaria was his team mate also they are in the same age range and if the two of them are not relating something is certainly not right. By the way l PERSONALLY KNOW the assistant coach and first team manager. And l can assure you there is no prejudice. These guys will approach matters on the basis of your performance and if that's not up to scratch, you simply will not play. Well before Sadiq Umar came to Glasgow Rangers after l had watched him play several times. I made the comments and inference that he would struggle in English League one with clear cut devoid of emotive measured and objective reasons. That opinion l have did not change because he went to Glasgow Rangers indeed what happened there substantiated my view. |
BascoVanVeli:Of course they are 22 |
BascoVanVeli:I noticed no mention of Oviemuno Ejaria by Sadiq or the youth player that replaced him in a U23 match and promptly scored a hat trick. |
I did not have the priveledge of watching the game. But after reading the varied comments and the post mortem l am inclined to anchor everything on the saying that. "A poor work man, blames his tools " As my conclusion. |
Earthquake2:Agreed without question |
BascoVanVeli:https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1019931/Manchester-United-news-Wilfried-Zaha-David-Moyes-Crystal-Palace-Lauren-Moyes https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/rumours-i-slept-with-david-moyes-daughter-were-not-cleared-up-wilfred-zaha-hits-out-at-man-united-37341650.html https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/20/wilfried-zaha-manchester-united-hell-demons-alone These are three fairly reputable SERIOUS newspapers that carried the story. Now that's the media. There is what l was told from speaking to people involved with Manchester United at the time. My view it was in his best interests to deny the story even if it was true . |
edi287:But it was David Moyes that showed his emotive dislike for Zaha by freezing him out and giving him zero opportunity. It was so irrational and that's why the talk of Zaha and his Moyes daughter seemed to get out of hand. Meanwhile the daughter has never denied the rumour. |
gamaliel9:Do you know where they are being live streamed if at all and or what TV stations might be showing the games. Meanwhile l am watching England U21 give Poland a football lesson. I am talking about this in the context of the Nigerian U23 selection. In this England team that has 18 year old players who have two seasons of first team football under thier belts. There is a tendency in our U23 selection to use players from Europe who are essentially academy players, and rely on past youthful glories, Nwakali is a classic example. In my opinion that's not good enough we need better. In this England team we have two undiluted NAIJA boys in Ademola Lookman and Fikayo Tomori these guys have been playing competitively for 4 seasons plus. Tomori is arguably the best young CB in the Championship, he is that good. We all know Ademola Lookman who Everton rejected a near £30 million offer from Liepzig for last season. |
edi287:What's LVG? I really don't get what you are talking about please explain in simplistic terms for me. The only Mane I know is at Liverpool so l am confused. |
edi287:I understand that Moyes hated him with a passion and totally relegated him to the dumps and gave zero time. These are totally unsubstantiated rumours but it was said that Zaha was playing Maradona with Lauren Moyes the daughter of David Moyes. The Father dud not like that " AT ALL" Instead of breaking into the first team he was breaking into something else.. But these are RUMOURS. |
edi287:I am very biased towards flair and skilful play Sana can not match Zaha for sheer skill, Zaha is the quintessential " BALLER " |
Icon79:You should make your proposition in comparison to Danny Alves, Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben, Ronaldo who are all above your proposed retirement age and the are currently players playing at the highest level of football in the world. I could add Glenn Murray and Jernaine Defoe all currently or former top performers in the EPL. Just shows how inconsequential devoid of substance your proposition is. Particularly as the alternatives you present may Never ever attain these levels in thier respective careers. If Ibrahomovich was a Nigerian at 37 he would walk straight into the SE no contest. |
TheGoodJoe:Sometimes players have an attribute that propels them beyond established players. With Julius it was speed otherwise in reality he didn't have too much competition at the time. Ighalo, Musa and even if fit Obagoal are not potential but long term proven and established top level performers. |
chrisooblog:I personally don't rate Solanke as anything special because in my opinion he is rated on potential albeit great outstanding potential. He is yet make his mark. That not withstanding it doesn't mean I think your protégé is any better. Now on the debate of who is more creditable as a striker. It's a matter of opinion. |
edi287:I disagree, all that happens is that Zaha will have to follow the strict discipline of Guardiola and his rigid but very effective style. On the other hand he may not want to play that kind of expressionless individual football. |

❓ Then beating them should be a formality not a matter of contention.
