Starboytwo: Good afternoon guys.
It's hard to work in Naija. Police people are tryna kill me.
Today, I left my home and I was stopped in palm Avenue Mushin. Offence. My temporary driving license expired on the 09/07/24. Exactly 6 days ago.
I was driven to zone D mushin. After every every, I parted with 10k plus 5 hundred for gate. Total =10500...
Immediately, I proceeded to lastma office oshodi where I did the temporary and I got an extension at till 30th of August... I felt invisible and I proceeded to look for client. I saw one just at the oshodi interchange, she was going to mushin(make I dey go house back)
I never start motor a policewoman stopped me at same oshodi interchange.. I gave her a complete paper work of the car plus the new temporary license. She certified everything alright and said it remain "Hackney permit"
After long talk, I offered 1k. She refuse. I showed her my opay, na 2k remain. I offered to transfer to her, make I dey go house drop motor. She refuse transfer. And asked me to go withdraw blah blah.
I left angrily. Using map to find my way, trying not to make some funny turn as Lastma people have dealt with me.
As I was going, another set at mile 2 stopped me, wielding gun etc. Treated me like a criminal, searched my car, asked for the usual etc, I told them it was collected by a policewoman at the oshodi inter change.
Since 12, I have been detained inside a nearby korope in mile 2. My car, my Temporary driving Licence, the new temporary extension I got few hours ago, everything is not in my position...
Current situation.
I wish I could make a case against them. This is not how to treat a law abiding citizen. Please make photocopies of your documents and stop giving them originals. |

Omoapena: Omo This one self was giving me same vibe that I manipulated the app, I was looking so stupid while explaining myself but it got to a point I just changed face and told him to report the price to bolt cox I wasn't the one who gave him that price, at some point he was asking me if I will collect the 12900, I told him that my own money out of that 12900 isn't upto 10k so if I should collect less than that it means I'm loosing na.
Baba was frustrated to pay me, nah so he slam my door, I was just happy we didn't do that offline coz we go too argue on what to pay as we turn back... Thank God you even told him ahead, else it would have been war. His small conscience will be telling him something like; but the guy actually warned you, you didn't listen. I think bolt should inform their riders about the development to avoid fracas. |

Omoapena: See me see wahala o I dey try educate one rider say bolt price is somehow fixed now and we should do offline, the guy ordered from ladipo to ajah under bridge, the gave him estimate of 11200 and I said we should do offline based on that price but he said he might not reach that ajah and the price will not be upto that, I tried as much as possible to make him understand but he couldn't then we started the trip online, on getting to 3mb, he got a call n asked me to divert back from that ramp that leads to ebutte metta back to ladipo, he was still telling me that this is the reason why he doesn't wa g offline, I didn't argue but me I know by the time we go back n I end the trip, bolt will bring the price they charged him for ajah, on getting back to ladipo, I ended the trip and they charged him 12900, he was shocked and was telling me he can't pay that, I just told him to complain to bolt n not me coz no be me charge am....
I knew this will be causing issues Bolt wahala! Their pricing is an headache sometimes. Some weeks back, I got a delivery request from somolu to VI. The app showed 5900. On ending the ride, I saw 8400. The guy's face changed. Even me sef shock. He started giving me the vibe that I intentionally manipulated the app. There was no shalaye I didn't do to convince him otherwise. I told him to complain to bolt so that they can track the route I took. After all the talk, time to pay, the guy told me he wants to go up and use his office internet to transfer to me. For where? Oga I get hotspot, collect password and pay b4 you leave. |

northbird: The bolded is easier said than done. Right now , 2024. To meet market realities. Weekly rentals should be around 50-60k. How many drivers can gladly sign this ? Most of them want something way lower. So the investor still bears the brunt. I can't be monitoring vehicles around cos of 30-35k/ week, that stress is too much for the money . If this is what it takes to stay afloat in the business, abeg raise am! raise am!! No gree for anybody. There's no sentiment in business. My point is once you set the 50/60k with your terms and conditions, then comot eye from the driver's earnings. Owner partners, I think you guys should also look beyond Corolla. It is not a must. Loyalty to a particular brand is not realistic in this present economy. A driver that insist on Corolla should be ready for higher weekly delivery. |

northbird: Banks scramble over themselves to loan Dangote money, because he is a sure banker..
Back to ehailing, it's the driver's loss, if you need 20 drivers right now, you can get them in 2 days , what about getting 20 cars?, that will surely take more than 2 days. ... drivers are always available, its a hard truth to bear, the aces are always with the investor.
The investor will simply liquidate assets and move into a new line of business.
Ask the White korope lekki to cms ,how much they deliver weekly to their owners. I don't want to come to the Yellow LT on the mainland ( oshodi - Sango)
If you are on watsap groups, if you see the way drivers are looking for cars to drive. There are very few cars unlike previous years...
It must be a win-win situation for all stakeholders , most drivers don't see this big picture.. The app companies are learning this truth . Esp Bolt. They made reforms because Bolt realised, if you keep losing drivers, they are losing revenue , it's just a matter of time. Are banks also at the lower end? Yes or No. Back to ehailng, The mere fact that cars are scarce doesn't equate flexing of muscle from owner partners. For goodness sake, both of you are business partners and not employee/employer situation, so respect agreement. If there is need for upward review, then adequately communicate and sign the new deal. Putting eye in your driver partners' earnings is a NO for me. Owner partners can liquidate asset and move to something else. So drivers too can't diversify and shift from ehailng? Is their destiny tied to driving? I think drivers need to wake up and smell the coffee. |

northbird: If I had a relative with deep pockets.. I wouldn't advise him/her to invest into ehailing.. it's too draining because of 35k / week. The app companies are the main beneficiaries followed by the drivers then the investors. What kind of Arrangement leaves the investor at the lower end of the food table.
Imagine ,taking a 25% cut of whatever earnings the driver makes just because you linked to a customer, what about the guys that facilitated the MAIN tool ( i dont care about your 14 years driving experience in Lagos, even if the whole road map of Lasgidi is in you, as long as you dont have a vehicle, you cant do nothing in ehailing.) to execute such orders.,they are left with crumbs.. so pathetic. I don't care about the 20 cars you bought as owner partner, even if you bought them brand new tear rubber, as long as there is no driver, you can't do nothing in ehailng. Can you? What about this angle? Dangote is the richest man in Africa. He survives on bank loans. Are banks too at the lower end going by your postulation? Should banks raise interest rate to 50% so that they won't be left with crumbs and probably be richer than Dangote? Baba business doesn't work that way. Set your charges with terms and conditions and comot eye from what drivers make. |

jtmstack: Howfa guys, I was thinking lately 🤔
What if there is a central system that allows drivers to rate riders and vice versa 🤔
You know the traditional way of "review after ride" that Uber, indrive, and bolt do are not seen by anyone.
What if the main purpose of the central system is to make a public ledger where if you have a ride, you can query the riders number to see reviews other drivers have written about him or her, so you make informed decisions before going on a trip.
What do you think? I think indrive is somehow close to your proposed model. You can see rating and number of trips. For instance, if a rider has 4.2 rating with number of trips =18, then I prepare for a show down, if at all I'll pick the ride. Implementation of your model, will likely impact business because of time factor. Time is money. |

Fibel: And to add , I’ll always be grateful for experiences gathered while in e-hailing because it made me more disciplined and put food on my table while I up-skilled. Discipline that made me stick through the process.
And also to those who think all 9-5 jobs are shitty, I’ll beg you to reconsider. I’ve been an entrepreneur, I have driven albeit for a short while but I’ll tell you that nothing beats the peace of mind that comes with a nice corporate job, especially if you’re in IT. The least I saw anyone earn around me was 400k and those were entry level . My colleagues were all remote workers but we would come to the office at least once a week because we’ve missed the office ambience. Don’t let anybody fool you if you’re young , driving is not a transferable skill that can put you in a good place if you want to japa or live a fulfilled life abroad. If you’re dedicated , your skill can aid your japa as I am a living witness . At the end of the day , it’s a personal choice and all man must run his own race. Congrats! Barbiturate: I have been in the job market for years and I can tell you what is obtainable from experience.
When I say there are no jobs. I mean jobs for people in my age not MT. It's based on connection and referrals.
I've passed recruitment stages from test till I met with CEO and I didn't get it because I'm Igbo. I've passed recruitment stages from test till names were sent to FCC. Checked from commissioner representing my state and name still intact till it got to the department/agency and it was shortchanged. I've passed NNPC test and went to Abuja for interview and I heard nothing again since 2011.
I was the highest in a recruitment test at p/h(travelled from lag to p/h) On the day of the interview, they gave a particular guy so much respect and audience. They even gave him tea and they never offered me anything. They didn't ask me more than 2 questions and they told me to go. In fact they hurriedly interviewed me. I scored 74% and the guy got 52%. We discussed it when we sat together.
Another one in Lagos. I was the first to come for the interview but they attended to the guy that came after me and he was asked to go for medicals even before I was interviewed. I made the interviewers understand what they did. One was trying to defend it and the other apologised.
I passed test(2 times) and interview for Abinbev. I was even called for medicals but I didn't get the job at the end. I was replaced.
Bro, I can go on and on and on and on. I have so many experience. When I tell you there's no other way aside connection and referrals, trust me, I know what I'm saying.
I have worked with construction/building/haulage companies and production/chemical companies for 8/9 years all together. Oh! Thank God for this last paragraph, because I would have given up as well. We are going somewhere. Kindly answer these 3 questions in order to conclude if we need to establish correspondence: 1. What exactly is/was your expertise presently or in those 8-9 years? 2. Do you still have flair for reading in case there might be need to upgrade professionally (NOT university upgrade o)? 3. Are you willing to give 9-5 a chance again? Note: I have factored your age, in terms of opportunities. That should not be an issue provided the answers will gel. |

Moreover, there are no jobs in Nigeria. The little ones left are for those with connection. I don't have any connection. So 9 to 5 is out of the way for me! False sir. northbird: Bolt rash actions made indrive grow so fast.
Bolt was raving mad 2021/2022.. blocking drivers with reckless abandon. How can you block a driver for 30 days because he rejected trips
A full grown man with bills and dependants ,you expect such drivers to sit down and wait for 30 days . I don't understand the logic behind this. You are giving more fodder to your competition.
Indrive received such drivers and made magic. Like the case of the young King in the cave of Adullam. All the angered ,distressed drivers moved to Indrive and Indrive became their commander .
Bolt knows too well, you underestimate Indrive, you pay dearly. Indrive giving Bolt a good run for their money. This! Indrive's app model and 10% policy make it easy and addictive for drivers. Initially, I was skeptical about indrive because of the obvious fastest finger, but when I gave it a try, I knew there was no going back. Look, I'm best behaved on indrive because I can't afford to lose the account. My bolt is for surge and destination trips. |
