I hinged my point from the angle u came from, in essence, be proud of whatever u do!!! Whoever looks down on u, its d persons loss not yours. Bro, I am not proud to be a driver. I am driving because It is a stop gap for other things. If I see other sure option now now even if it's profit is not up to what I make in driving, I will quit sharply. That's my point. |

Pearl1910: The narrative is changing...don't be dragged into the culture of our parents. They never wanted to hear their children going into sports, acting or music, but today we all know what's happening.
Let's be real... There are still hungry lawyers and Doctors wey no get money to buy shoe. Am not bragging but no civil servant on Grade Level 11 (Fed or State) can afford my house rent and send their children to my children's school. This is being real. I make more than 1m monthly now, and I wouldn't have achieved this if I stayed in paid employment. I don't know how real u want us to b again, wen bills are staring u in d face but u r waiting for oil company job or nothing. Who no like better thing? d reason everybody wants to work in plush and tuush is for big money and benefits at the end of the day. Many of my guys are the breadwinners of their extended families, Asin parents, siblings, nephews, nieces and cousins. Meanwhile they have people working in offices in the family o. Let's cut this crab abeg My brother, save me the stories of your success in driving. I drive too so I know what's up. My point is very clear and it was drawn from glinthronix earlier submission about barbiturate's point on not been proud to introduce himself as an Uber driver. Now I repeat, if you are truly proud to be a driver as it is an avenue to become a millionaire, just wish and pray for your child(ren) to be a driver and I will rest my case. |

Jamie90: What kind of line of thought is this? Why shouldn't I pray for my kids to do better than me? That someone drive doesn't mean that aren't better career path. I am sure everyone drives to provide a better life for his family; better than the one they have.
You might think that this means that they want their kids to be a salary earner with fancy title such as banker, chartered accountant but with salary less than 250k. So, to you, your kids doing better than you MUST be outside your field or profession? You are very funny. |

Glithronix: Your name always makes me laugh anytime I see am. Lagbaja sang Konko-below, but you made your own title in opposite of it, Konko-above. Sense no go keel you. 😁
Back to your comment; some of us are really downgrading ourselves because we're drivers. Wallahi. Now, shey na driving you want to do for life? As Pope191 noted, na situation threw some of us into driving. Baba, some of my friends are house owners today from this Uber/bolt driving some of us are shying away from. Though, they built their houses when lands and building costs were still very, very much lower (long time ago). They ain't driving no more, cos they have long switched to another business. I'm still wondering why I will be shy to say I'm doing Uber. Something wey dey serve me? This is a legit work oooh. I've carried a lot of passengers that they have asked me about the Uber business, they want to join this hustle. One beautiful female passenger, on Friday, was asking me questions on this driving business all through our journey from Ogudu to Lekki phase1, she wan buy car and start driving. Lol. I was just laughing. I was like, as you fine like this? She wanted me to educate her on the hustle, which I did. The story long, but make I end am here. A lot of male passengers have asked me about going into the hustle. Be like say some of us don't know that some people want to join this hustle cos they know they profit in it surpasses a lot of salary jobs out there. No be human beings dey drive danfo ni? They also have kids, wives, properties. They sending their kids to nice schools. Driving is not permanent in my life and I'm sure same goes to almost everybody, cos we all have dreams and goals. But make we no dey look down on ourselves cos we dey drive. Driving wey people want to join. Even the so called bankers wish to quit and join. Smiles. Something wey I dey see here very well. Many of us are driving today so that OUR CHILDREN WILL NOT BECOME DRIVERS TOMORROW. God no go kuku shame us.
Much respect, boss. My brother, I understand your disposition. You guys don't want to understand barbiturate's point of view. Let us always put things in proper perspective. NO ONE IS TRULY PROUD TO BE A DRIVER! |

IFSHR: If I can drive and feed my child and family, and not engaged in any illegal thing...then why should I be ashamed of what is making me fulfilling my responsibility as a man...abeg make we dey try analyse things well...so because I want to tell my child that I am an office person ..I shoukd sit at home and start applying for jobs and when non is forth coming ..who will take the responsibility of my family survival as a man ....Uber driving is a cash cow...and what you do with the cash flow at the end of the day is what matters....make I no even talk about jobs Nigerians do in the UK, USA or Canada...
Have you asked anyone doing the job and they tell you they don't have their own future plans or ideas to divert into....is anyone offering anybody loan in this country, is anyone picking money on the floor....
There is dignity in legit labour.... ask some of the riders to show you their account statement and compare it with the little in yours and you will understand that a book should never be judged by its covers....
When in Nigeria we see some jobs as odd jobs...but change country...those jobs become normal to you....the problem is not the job, the problem is your understanding of survival..
Dangote is a trader...sugar coat all you want Obi cubana is an hotelier ...sugar coat all you want Peter obi is a trader ....sugar coat all you want MC olumo is a tax collector ....sugar coat all you want
Uber driving is a lemon....make your own lemonade out of it ....or throw the lemon away...and find your own favourite lemon... My brother, this shalaye is not necessary. All the examples you gave, I didn't see a single driver there. If you are truly proud of driving, wish and pray it for your child(ren). It's that simple |

okey4reel: pls who pays the toll gate fee on airport road, is it the driver or passenger? I passed through that road today with 2 girls and when I got there I told them about the toll fee and they said they don't have cash, that I should pay, I told them they are the one that's supposed to pay cos if they are not in my car I have no business passing through that toll gate, these girls refused to pay and the matter wanted to cause argument, so I had to pay #300, FAAN has increased the price now to #300 for cars from #200, so I want to know who is meant to pay the toll fee You could have told them to add the 300 to the money they wanted to transfer to you. Personally, on bolt, I don't disturb riders because bolt would have added it to the fare. But some riders will put MM2 in their order, while they are going to international. In that case I ask you to pay the toll. One rider put oshodi/bolade but on the way, she said she was actually going to arena market, I sharply collect 300 ticket money from her. On indrive, I don't even pick those toll/ticket areas. If it's ICM, I drop you at the gate or you pay. No time to shalaye. |

Pearl1910: Honestly, the only recommendation I would say is buy from overseas. Very hard to find d original in Nigeria. Except u find from people like Dru or Gazzuzz who sell imported goods. And because of exchange rate, it is very expensive. If u can't afford imported on, the use Holt ATF, it is made in Nigeria but it is standard. The original of it has a tiny mouth container. Don't buy d one with a wide mouth, that one is fake. Please, can you share the picture of the original Holt ATF? Thanks |

pope191: Baz001 I’ll not tell you what I don’t know. Price has change, it is left for driver to use their head. Today I saw trip from Obafemi awolowo ikeja to Yaba for 4k. This used to be 2800. A driver on indrive can gross 25k daily, multiply that by 5 days and you will have 125. Gas of 55k should get that at least. Commission of 12500 and the rest is yours to decide on. I never said the hustle is the best thing. I am just trying to simplify it. Let Pope breathe Boss, you and Yaba. E be like say your side chick dey there ... XGhost: You have touched on some of the issues that they're not looking at. They think these arbitrary demands will not have a knock-on effect on the whole ecosystem. Raise fares arbitrarily and shrink the customer base. Your 10 trips of 2k each become 5 trips of 3k each. Raise fares but landlords must not raise rent. Regulators would not also look at protecting customers? Reduce commission but continue to provide services to keep the app running. Is it only drivers that have been impacted by increased operating costs? People talk like they have no idea how businesses are run.
Also, Rida and InDrive came in to fill that gap bolt and Uber have left, make Dem use those two nau Maybe you should look at it this way, Uber is a special form of transport service that ensures the comfort and safety of riders. That special service is not for everyone. Just like flight, it is meant for those who can afford it. You want quality, you pay for it. When Uber started in Nigeria, the price was extremely high and Nigerians still used it. It was taxify/bolt that spoiled the business by introducing ridiculous prices, because they wanted to break into the market. Something they themselves are paying for with indrive and rida further slashing the price. Trust me, if all these app companies are providing vehicles and maintenance, they will be charging more than what the union is demanding and Nigerians will still patronize them. Airlines increased flight from 35,000 to 75,000, did it stop Nigerians from flying? If moove is managing Dru's fleet of cars, the conditions given to drivers would be softer compared to them managing their own vehicle. |

To chop that bonus, you must be willing do trips to these destinations.
Mind you there are rules to what you called Average 4 trips per day
Your Driver score and acceptance rate must not fall below a certain threshold
You must stay some certain hours online There's a way to go about it without driving to those places. I have never been to those places you mentioned and I use bolt For the hours online, very easy boss |
