Business / Re: Why Are Bank Accounts Called 'aza' In Nigeria? by KosiGee(m): 4:25am On Feb 15 |
ogbonti: Yes, you are a tribalist, instigator and Igbos should avoid people like you in real life. You could be worse than people like Reno Omokri. If you had to use Ahmadu Bello’s bitter and hate filled speech to back your paranoia, you could be worse than him. I’m Igbo and our language is vast. I’ve NEVER of any Igbo person use the word aza in the context that it’s being claim and discussed here. If anyone know the town, people or place that use that word, kindly mention them. I don’t think it’s enough to Wikipedia. Mention the Igbo towns/people who use this word. |

HNICEARTH: Contradicting myself?? How?. We learn everyday sir. In the context that it’s being used here, I didn’t think it was Igbo word however, you’ve provided links or sources to back up your claim. I mentioned that it doesn’t sound Igbo just like ‘Olayinka’ doesn’t sound Igbo but you know that Ola has a meaning in Igbo. Ayodele also doesn’t sound Igbo but if you break it down, you’d get a weird meaning. I’m not disputing your claim. I’ve never heard any Igbo person refer to piggybank as aza. 1 Like |

HNICEARTH: I’m Igbo but this word doesn’t sound Igbo and it doesn’t mean numbers. There’s an Igbo word ‘aza’ but it means to sieve. O na aza mmiri….o na azapu mmiri… 4 Likes 1 Share |

Watianoengineer: You forgot that Emilio Nsue scored most of his goals against the Ivorians who later became the champion. Victor Osimhen is a good player, he isn’t overrated, if Nigeria’s midfield was good, the pressure wouldn’t have been on him that much. He fought for the balls and his effort resulted in most of the goals that Nigeria scored. 4 Likes |

charlesemeka85: I’ve been reading a lot about Nwakali on this forum. I watched him in age group football. I’ve also watched him play a few matches for the Super Eagles. Pls what’s so special about him? I’m just curious. I wish to see him live his dreams, play in a bigger club and contribute to Super Eagles success but watching him, sometimes I wonder what’s special about his game. Maybe it’s me, I rated him high but I don’t think he has developed and improved as a footballer. 1 Like |

TheFreshVanilla: It’s not like they bought it from a total stranger. They knew the house, the family and were probably there when it was installed. I think the brother deceived them into buying the panels. How wicked can someone be? What if he gave them fake receipts of the solar panels? I think this family genuinely bought the solar panels believing whatever story the thieving rascal sold them cos if they knew his intentions, they wouldn’t listen to him knowing fully well that the rightful owner would discover the panels on their roof. 2 Likes |

Sports / Re: AFCON 2023 Best Player Of Tournament Contenders: Lookman, Haller, Ekong Leads by KosiGee(m): 2:41pm On Feb 11 |
ogbonti: Check well, I think it was Rashidi Yekini who was player of the tournament at Tunisia 94, Amunike was African footballer of the year 1994. Nigeria also met Ivory Coast in the semi finals. Michel Bassole scored, then Iroha equalised, Bassole scored again before Yekini Equalised. It went into penalties and I think Siasia was the one to miss for Nigeria. Bassole, the hero of the Ivorians two goals missed. Aka Kouamé whom we used to call Kwame Aka was one of their scorers during the penalty kicks. Nigeria went through on penalties to beat Zambia in the finals. Best players were Yekini and I think Kalusha |

Troost Ekong is the king and undisputed. He hasn’t put a foot wrong. He has been solid, commanding, organised, has shown great leadership and has taken the initiative where necessary and he has done it not once but many times, very assertive and has played with his heart. He has done what Fabio Cannavaro did for Italy in Germany 2006. I hope we win today. Osimhen is second and best goalkeeper should be Nwabali. 4 Likes |

Anyone here know the Iwobi snr?? There was a certain ‘madam Gold’ an actress and Tv presenter back in the days,She was always on NTA channel 50 Enugu. Her last name used to be Iwobi. I wonder if she’s related to or Alex Iwobi’s paternal aunty?? |

femi4: The man loved football, he could play anywhere, monkey post, 7 aside, 11 aside. Very good midfielder, he was slim then with great athletic legs and he could shoot the ball or distribute long range passes with incredible vision and accuracy. As kids, we thought he was playing for Enugu Rangers but he never seem to take professional football serious. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

kendrick9: Those countries are contenders. They might not have won it but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they did. Burkina did well in South Africa, Nigeria had to dig deep to win. Zambia has won it. DRC, Mali, Guinea have all benefited from having players in the French league or French plsyers with African roots just like we have the likes of Aina, Aribo, Bassey, Ajayi all playing for Nigeria. AFCON is a bit like FA cup where countries like Cape Verde, Angola, Equatorial Guinea and even Aubameyang’s Gabon could spring surprises. Anything can happen in AFCON. |

CSTRR: The thread title says, which of the trophies that’s hardest to win. UEFA/champion league teams benefit from the input of foreigners but this isn’t about UEFA which is competed by club sides. In Euro cup…big teams are Germany, Spain, England, France, Portugal and maybe Belgium, Denmark, Norway. AFCON is highly unpredictable amongst Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco from North Africa and down the subsahara, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Cameroon, South Africa and then Guinea, Burkina Fasso, DRC, Zambia….any of these teams can win the trophy. AFCON in my opinion is the hardest if you are not comparing the countries with South America and Europe and instead focus on the competing nations. 2 Likes |

At this point, I fully support him to get an utonwa, tomato Jos side chick. Yes I know this is a woman that has supported him and toiled with him when it seemed he would remain the third choice keeper at his local Ogba village football team but when you are successful as a man, you need to taste the goodness, richness and wetness of that treasure island. He should respect and love his wife but he needs a sidechick that would deal with him in za oda room. There are lots of crazy Naija women that’ll give him lots of pleasure now that his light is shining very bright. This is his opportunity. My fear is that he would get carried away and then his stock would dip and he would be committing blunder after blunder during matches that fans would be chanting Uzoho’s name again. |

judatech: There would be some kidnappers there and some people with bad intentions but the fans outnumber them. If the evil ones had tried something, the good masses would’ve burnt them alive. Nwabali snr need some security around him at this moment. When Nwabali jnr secures a lucrative deal in Europe, this same wolves in sheepskins who mingled with the good fans might come back to get their cut by taking Nwabali snr with them. 1 Like |

mostob: Omeruo’s penalty was too good. I think he shares same confidence, technique and psychology as Ivan Toney of Brentford. Ivan Toney is class. He understands goal keepers, effortlessly rolls the ball in while the keepers go the other way or even if the keeper dives in same direction, he hits the ball with precision and with a curve that the ball slips through before the keeper hits the ground. I was worried about Moffi’s. He went midline. Ekong and Iheanacho’s penalties were underrated. Both players combined power and precision. Aina’s penalty would’ve been one of the best if not for the elevation. Keeper would’ve struggled with that even if he had dived in same direction. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Ekong is confident taking penalties but he need to be careful with his kicks. He likes to hit it to the middle. A keeper who keeps still would easily catch it. 3 Likes |

South Africa is in control and dictating the pace of this game. Nigeria is struggling in all departments except goal keeping. I hope they turn things around in the second half. If South Africa scores first, Nigeria will be in trouble. South Africa passes better, positions well and they’ve been more dangerous going forward. 3 Likes |

terrezo2002: You wouldn’t get authentic Super Eagles men’s shirt for anything less than N70,000. That’s the green home shirt they’ve been using in Ivory Coast. The home shirt isn’t even available in Nike website. You can get it at Sportsdirect but it’s the women’s version and men’s small size. 1 Like |
