olujosh301: I have used both iphone xr and now using lg g8 The lg is faster and can unlock from different angles Also in complete darkness the iphone brightens up the screen to the max to unlock and sometimes it's hit and miss but the lg doesn't brighten up the screen in complete darkness and it unlocks very fast
NOTE!!!! My opinion is from real life usage not just speculations or from what I see online True what you said on the G8. Zero brightness and in complete darkness, face unlock works wella. |

Flytime: wrong, where are you getting this informations from What do you mean nothing new What's the difference between the note 20 and note 10?... there are changes but nothing major Wait for the device to be launched before saying this
Is it not on this platform a guy using the original iphone se was running grid moth r sports, something that requires snapdragon 600 series to run Apart from the Bionic chip and the mad optimization of apps, what else is there? If you count the performance of the Bionic chips as an improvement..... It doesn't to me. If that old Bionic chip on the SE can run that game smoothly and Android already have chips to play same game smoothly (SD 800 series not the SD 600 which is a minimum), I'll still maintain that the gap between Androids and iPhones are almost non-existent. If you want to add security, no need as we already know that a long time ago. As for waiting for launch, I don't need to before saying what I said. We're they (Apple) not the ones who were spewing all the misfortunes and challenges they were facing when making the iPhones, listing what and what it won't include and we already know it's got iOS 14 and benchmarks of the A14 we know and yes it's the first 5nm chip but will you see the improvement when Apple won't allow you to explore (for good reason I know but still it's your property once you buy it) |

emae009: Guy stop beating about the Bush. what concerns open source with closed ecosystem and Face ID. Android being open source means that even you right now can download the Android source code and start working on your own phone. It has nothing to do with the features of the phone. Again going by your logic, fingerprint shouldn't also be used on transactions since Android is open source. Apple Face ID is unrivaled Q.E.D I see where you coming from but at the same time you missed the whole point. Android being open source means that some of your information are logged and saved on cloud by apps you use, not necessarily from some component responsible for security and not all devs abide by this rule. Oh and most financial apps use 2D images saved for authorization and hackers are getting creative when it comes to Android. iOS being closed source got to do with the security they promise their consumers. I don't know how it fully works but the gist is apps - especially financial ones - sends a request to the neural chip which allows Face ID to be used to authorise a transaction, it generates random keys for each transaction and bars the app from using it again and Apple are strict on this. If not every dev would've had your information long ago. Fingerprint can be the same if OEMs don't put in measures to tackle it (Samsung Knox is an example) unless sensor used is a fingerprint magnet so there's that. |

cupidhero: A competent court in South Korea had to ban these two companies(Iphone and Samsung) from selling smart phones in South Korea in 2012 after finding out they both copied each other and where both guilty of the same accusation they made about each other. I don't usually engage in these sort of comparison but i had to after seeing how strange the the main question was. Its a fair fight. No winner here. The OP made it seem like apple was being too ahead while other phones fell behind. Trust me the those days are gone. Its a highly competitive market with samsung and iphone playing gods while others fall behind the demi god category. CNET plus other top gadget reviewing websites with high reputations for phone reviews all graded the current samsung flagship above the Iphone 11 while i also stumbled upon other reputable sites grading the Iphone 11 as number one. Its perfectly balanced trust me. If i am being a fanboy i would actually side with Samsung because i saw a bigger number of sites putting current S20 above the iphone. In the end it still boils down to usage. It takes a power user to show these superiority in these phones trust me. If you are power user you would understand what i'm saying. I remember using one of the earliest infinix phones as it came out with a paid spotify subscription in it,i had a paid netflix too in it,Mobdro for streaming any US,UK or other premium cable chanels for free and power amp to handle my .FLAC files for a lossless audio. I have never being the picture snapping type so there was no need for a phone with a powerful camera.
While my friend not so tech savvy friend struggled to pay for simple things like itunes with his current gen iphone i was busy checking the US tv guide so i can watch Breaking Bad or a live match in England using some of these apps mentioned. It all depends on your livestyle. Any smartphone should help balance your day to day activity and not for show off. Anyone buying a smartphone should pay for what he can use and not for features they know nothing of which is what most Nigerians do. Usage is everything. Na boys we be. There is no need for all these fights. plenty fights dey. DC vs Marvel, Chelsea vs Man United or even Coca cola vs Pepsi and in the end nobody go gree for each other. They all have where they excel and others don't. This |

emae009: It just shows you don't really know Apple Face ID. It uses TrueDepth Sensor camera same thing ToF does... both shots infared beams at your face. FYI the G7 was a miss, it's the G8 that uses the better tech. What do you mean there's nothing like the best overall face unlock?? Apple Face ID is so accurate and secure that it can be use for financial transactions something Android phones will warn you that their face unlock option is not that secure and should only be use as a secondary security option.
Going by your logic. There's no best anything rn in mobile technology
Guess you finally understand why the IPhone keeps coming with notches. You should know by now Apple are notorious for their naming schemes for existing tech. While it's true they got the same application, later models of the ToF sensor allows for use of lasers for accurate depth mapping. But that aside, iOS isn't open source like Android which makes Face ID a risk to use for financial transactions, making Face ID secure which I acknowledge but you see "the best overall", there isn't right now. |

emae009: Please mention the phone with the best face unlock?? Apple Face ID remains unrivaled even rn. Most Android uses 2D face recognition or infrared Retina scan. You can't get the sophistication and security of Apple Face ID with a punch-hole display or without a notch LG G7 and G8 uses the ToF sensor for 3D mapping and they got the same application as Face ID and the ToF sensor is better (it has a longer range) and somewhat faster than what Apple used for the iPhone X up till the 11 Pro Max. Oh and FYI Face ID uses infrared tech for mapping ones face for unlocking compared to ToF that uses both infrared and laser for higher accuracy. Modified - the G7 and G8 are notched and there's nothing like the best overall Face unlock right now, it's not 2017 anymore. Also reason Face ID is fast is cos it saves a 2D image of your face while setting up which it uses for faster unlock. Some cool innovation huh... |

emae009: The iPhone doesn't have a Note series. The Apple pencil is for IPads, hence it's somewhat limited features. Samsung Note series breaches the gap between a normal phone and a tab. If you want to compare tablets, you know the IPad for now is still unrivaled.
If you want to go phone to phone... you'll have to compare the S10+ with the 11pro max then wait for the 12pro max to compare with the S20 ultra. The point for Apple wasn't about the usability of the pen for the iPad but how meh it was until a couple of weeks back. |
Phones › Re: No Smart Phone Can Be Compared To Iphone??? by KrazyDave16(m): 12:47pm On Oct 02, 2020 |
emae009: Jobs wasn't alive to see the birth of OLED on phones. I never said IPhone is the best, I said since it's has its own unique ecosystem, that makes it stand out. The notch houses the face unlock tech which uses the 3D scan unlike the ones on Android that uses 2D. one is more secure than the other. That's why the IPhone from X up except the SE 2020 doesn't have fingerprint. Pixel 4 that went with the same face unlock had to use the notch too. if in the future the notch can be made to function underdisplay, Apple will do it. for now hiding it under display like you so desperately want will make it unable to capture your face clearly under low lighting conditions and thus can't grant you access to your phone. Some Android devices use 2D scanners true but some recently employed the use of ToF sensors for face unlock which is better than Apple Face ID but some here would disagree. Apple using the LIDAR tech is to improve Face ID and make AR more of a reality, |

emae009: Please can you loud it for them. It's not just the features of the phone. There's this top of the line feeling you have when operating the iPhone (the experience) that can't be quantify The feeling is subjective. First iPhone (it was 7) I handled I got the feel alright but after that I didn't get any zing or electric feel using it. When my classmates were shouting like mad women cos a guy got an iPhone 11 Pro, didn't feel a thing. If I wanted a smooth Android to match the iPhone, all I got to do is own a device that can match it from its processor to the camera. |

emae009: Yet Samsung were made to pay Apple for patent infringement but no "there was no direct copy" IPhone ditched the wired earphones and as usual Android fan boys were bashing and criticizing until their own smartphones started doing the same then it was business as usual. The airpods has its unique design but that's another story. There are claims flying around that they also infringed on another company patents though that is yet to be proven true. emae009: Samsung are manufacturing the new SD chipset and guess what their Exynos 1000 is using the same architecture. Coincidence right. Not a coincidence if they paid to use ARM architecture (Cortex X1) as their in-house custom cores were a disaster. Qualcomm using it to maintain their monopoly is nothing new. Also licensing is different from patenting. emae009: The "pen" technology has been around for a long time. Samsung saw a niche in the market and when with it. That's not a copy. They are even planning to discontinue their note series and merge it with the premium Galaxy S series. Samsung went with the niche and improved on it as they made more devices. Apple on the other hand made it and left it at that, recycling the same thing and charging a premium on it with each release. emae009: The refresh rate as usual is another marketing strategy by smartphone company to siphon money from the consumers' pocket. That's how every phone will always start their marketing with we have 8 cameras 72MP rear, 50MP selfie but you have a Pixel 4a with 12MP beating most of the large number MP cameras in real life. The likes of Oneplus are putting your 120Hz on their top midrange phones yet the same feature is costing more on premium phones but no its the IPhone that's overpriced and over-rated. The iPhone don't just put features for putting sake. For all the pop-up, rotating cameras on Android, how many are used on their premium phone They're marketing strategies but they got their own purposes despite the disadvantages with them. @bolded LIDAR was termed useless but they went on with it and people suddenly love it, forgetting Pixel 4 had it. Refresh rate was termed useless by all iSheeps but now they're asking Apple to implement it. OLED was bashed by Jobs himself but na dem dey use am now and Samsung is their supplier (same company that did them dirty) The iPhone is stands out in its own way but Android has its perks that makes it stand out as well but that doesn't mean the iPhone is the best device so far as some put it. Also despite being the richest tech company in the world, they couldn't reduce the size of the notch but only to increase it but our country people will not see it cos na iPhone and e no matter. |

emae009: Dragging levels in terms of what... The best selling phone of 2020 is iPhone 11. Did they show that on YouTube. iPhone don't target entry level of the smartphone business. The Apple company is worth over $2Trillion. Did you read that on Twitter. you can't compare the A13 bionic chip to SD865+ and that's last year chip. Samsung copied Iphone's chip before the became relevant in the industry. when IPhone debuted their now iconic notch design, how many Android phone manufacturers rushed to copy it.
I never said IPhone is better or that Android is better, I clearly said that both are very good but that iPhone runs on a unique ecosystem which makes it to stand out. if you're going for luxury, everybody knows it doesn't get any luxurious than a Rolls-Royce but that doesn't mean it's the best car. Apple partnered with Samsung to make their chipsets before they (Samsung) decided to do what Apple was doing by making their own chips (Exynos) and making phones to rival the iPhones. There was no direct copy of the chipsets, they both copied business ideas and some designs along the way. Apple copying the stylus without improving on it (only price of it improved increased), using LIDAR that people bashed when the Pixel 4 launched with it is now an "innovation", 120hz they said was not necessary they plan on using but they waiting on Samsung to supply them the new screens for it (same screen used on the note 20) Samsung copying Apple designs to the point Apple tried to patent the whole thing, even down to the design, copying this "no charger in box" madness Apple is doing with the iPhone 12. |

cupidhero: Never said anything about streaming. When you pay for these services you download the music for offline use you don't stream it. Streaming and downloading are two different things. Data is everything when it comes to smart phones. it needs data to breath. I use a cheap phone but all my apps constantly need more than 5gb weekly for playstore updates and sync. I don't know about others but i can't be streaming a video with 240p on the latest iphone. Is like buying a 4k TV without any 4k content to actually harness the picture quality you paid for. Foolishness is paying for what you don't use. na 2020 be dis we should all be making smarter choices when buying things. Different phones serve different purpose. A phone may have a good camera but terrible battery life. I can't be on a budget and buy a phone with good camera and terrible battery life. That your camera needs to go a beautiful place with you rocking a good cloth and even beautiful people to compliment it. Unless na wildlife photography the person plans doing. I won't be managing few hours of light daily without any back up power and then go buy a 2000 mah phone that will be very unwise. Anyone who is always on the go with very little time to charge should consider battery life before camera life. You buy a smart phone according to the type of life you live. Thats why in you see them grading these phones under categories like best flagship phones, best mid Range, best entry Level, best camera phones, best battery life and then best compact phones(for people who love small phones or people with tiny hands. What might be best for you can be rubbish to a whole lot of people. It all depends on the lifestyle you live. Salient points you've given and I couldn't agree more. But Nigeria is a different case. It's only here in Nigeria someone will be beating his chest in front of a Samsung Note 20 user cos he owns a used iPhone 6 or call him a fool for not buying iPhone X instead. |
