Your engine might not be leaking oil. It may rather be burning oil which may be an indication of a defective internal part like the valve, rings etc If you don't see oil on the ground when you park your car overnight, then its not leaking. I will advise you to get a good service of the car. Change the plugs especially and see how much difference it makes. Regards. |

From my understanding, the Nigerian Customs will require you to made a deposit (i forgot exactly how much. But i think $1000) which will be refunded back to you when you bring the car back from Nigeria. I inquired about this about 2 years ago while i was vacationing in Ghana. Rules may have changed now. But definitely you are not driving in free. Ghana plates or not. Regards. |

batuphil:Let me commend you for doing you due diligence on this issue. But i must sound a word of caution: Make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. 80-90% of vehicles in Cotonue are salvaged titles. You can run a VIN check to make sure that you are not getting a salvaged one though. While you have the option of running a check on the pre-order one before you commit to it. A pre-order car can be seen "in its natural state" without any fixing up. If you are finding a pre-order to be about the same cost as the one in Berger or Cotonue, considering the premise that most vehicles there are salvaged, its safe to assume that the pre-order with a clean title is actually cheaper. Another down side to the pre-order is that it takes about 6 weeks to get your car. The other one is cash and drive off. Happy Motoring and good luck out there. |

ficoram:i am more comfortable with the Camry. You can get a higher resale value when re-selling as opposed to Nissan. Nissan can sometimes be temperamental especially when handled by unqualified people. And that can be big problem for you. Camry can be a little more tolerant. Go for the Camry |

Emperoh:[b]@ Piedpiper and Emperor, Every vehicle that is delivered to the port will undergo customs clearing before sailing. Customs clearing will take between 2-4 weeks depending on port or volume of work. THERE IS NO WAY TO INFLUENCE IT! YOU DELIVER THE CAR AND THE CUSTOMS GETS BACK WHEN THEY FINISH! After customs, the shipping line will assign it a sailing date and it will be on its way to Nigeria. There is no way to really get an update while under customs processing. They would not be answering questions on every single car. The shipping line will. @ Pied, Your vehicle was bought on Feb 18th and delivered on March 8th. Between those days, this is what was done chronologically: Payment transfer from Nigeria, Purchase Completion, Title Transfer, Booking of Vehicle with Shipper, and Transport and delivery to the port. All those steps have to be done in order without jumping the line. That is, we cannot transfer title without payment. We cannot pay without getting money from Naija. The shipper will not book us without title etc All those were done in a span of about 1-2 weeks thereabout (Don't forget weekends. Nothing happens on weekends. No Banking, No shipping people, No booking etc). I would have done it quicker if i can. So without being biased, i think we are moving at a good speed. With my past dealings, i am sure that this vehicle should either sail or be assigned a sailing date before the end of the month. I will be sending you all our detailed spending up till this point like i promised you. @ Emperor, Thanks for your trust. Your vehicle was purchased on Feb 28th. You wired the funds, rather quickly. I sent you THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT from the auction. You are privy to every detail from day one. Your vehicle was delivered to the port 10 days later on March 10th. Same deal. Weekends included. We still go thru customs processing before sailing. Average 2-4 weeks depending on how customs are feeling or workload. Customs would not answer any question until they are done. I have since sent you the delivery receipt. At this point until i hear anything, i will just sit in a corner and wait for the word. You will know immediately as soon as i know. bros856:Let me start by telling you that I AM NOT A MECHANIC! However, i have a similar problem with this vehicle when someone called me for help that i helped out. As far as the Jeep Liberty is concerned, before you can start the car, the brainbox, key and key module has to be programmed the same. Since there is no one to get this programmed in Nigeria, i suggest that you get a complete brainbox, key and key module from another car. THEY ALL HAVE TO COME FROM SAME CAR THAT IS RUNNING BEFORE REMOVAL!!!! Guddy:VIN number is located in the windscreen corner (driver's side), drivers side door jam are (among other places). its 17 digits. you can know history of the vehicle for US spec vehicles. |
