Lucky Europeans!!!! You can offset lots of your cost from the bus on the back. Not so here in the states. I was at the port one day i watched one guy that works there dump 2 extra tires that was loaded in the back of a Jeep. Just tires! Not even parts or something big. Its crazy ridiculous rules from here in the States. |

webplay:The only thing i will worry about in this type of accident is the possibility of the structure of the car being damaged. i am talking about the skeleton structure of the car itself. The implication itself is that it might be hard (if not impossible) to get the tire aligned properly. Here are some hints: Possible wind noise when driving at highway speed if doors are not aligned well with the structure /frame of car. If i were to buy this car, i will drive at highway speed about 100-120km/hr (windows rolled up) to see if there is wind noise. Do the water test. Close all doors and windows rolled up, get someone to hose the car with water for about 5mins. This will simulate what will happen in rain. Make sure water will not come in through the damaged area. Make sure that the doors are properly aligned and not "sticking" when opening. If all is well, i will say its a buy. Be careful and demand more for your money. Good luck out there. |

[b]A salvage title can be issued for various reasons. For this particular vehicle, it was issued for "total loss". It simply means that the value of the loss sustained by that vehicle is greater than the value of the vehicle itself. For example a car might worth like $3,000 and was involved in an accident and sustain like $5,000 worth of damages. The insurance company are required by law to repair vehicles with brand new parts. No used. By estimating the new parts damaged, its possible to worth more than the value of what you can buy the car used on the market. In that case, the insurance company will declare a "total loss". They will simply pay the owner of the car the $3,000 and take the damaged car to auction to sell. However, before they sell, you have to be aware that the car at that point belongs to the insurance company (cos the original owner has been paid off). The title has to be re-issued in the name of the seller/new owner (insurance company) before they can sell the car. The title at this point WILL BE SALVAGED!. Hence, the salvage title issued. Similar thing will happen when a car is stolen. The insurance company will declare total loss and settle the owner. If the car is later found, the car belongs to the insurance. A new SALVAGE title will be issued to bear the name of the new owner ( the insurance company) before it can then be sold at the auction. Looking at the history of the car, I AM GUESSING that it was a theft recovery cos i didn't see any report of an accident. However, it is a possibility that an accident occurrence might just have been missed by CARFAX, hence, the reason for not showing up.[/b] The moral of the story is that, the car was salvage for a reason. If you like to buy the car, make a thorough inspection before buying it. |
