Hi, everyone. When dividends are paid, who knows how they finally get to us?
Will they be credited into our Trove account?
ORC is supposed to pay a dividend of $0.28 per share to shareholders today, 28/04/2020, but I'm still wondering how it'll get to me.
Does anyone have any info on this?
By the way, thanks for the info. It seems like a pretty decent stock, so I will also purchase a few shares.

Cheers.

The payment date for ORC is today 28/04/2020, for those who have bought the shares as at March 30, 2020. The dividend (I think monthly) amount for this particular month is $0.08, and it. Just give it till end of tomorrow, if you have not been credited, and then contact Trove. The next payment for those who buy before tomorrow, 29/04/2020 is May 28, 2020 and the dividend is $0.055 per share, apparently due to COVID-19.

I got my GTB dividend the same day it was paid in my Trove wallet. But don't forget that is a local stock. Maybe, being USD, it may take a while longer, but should not normally exceed 2 days. I also git a dividend payment for EFC in my Chaka wallet today, even though I was not tracking it, as I have sold the stock already.

OakPearl:
You can still recover all your unclaimed dividends without necessarily appearing in person.
Do a banker's confirmation of signature addressed to the registrars for GTB (Data Max Registrars), download their e-dividend mandate form on the link below (no. 6) and fill, attach a valid ID card and photocopy of your utility bill and sign a written letter asking for your unclaimed dividends stating a few details of your shareholding history.
Scan and send all the above documents to their email requesting for payment of your outstanding dividends.
Good luck.

http://sec.gov.ng/public-notice-the-e-dividend-mandate-activation-forms-of-various-registrars-are-now-available-for-download/
Thanks @Oakpearl.

I actually downloaded the e-dividend mandate form, completed with a passport photograph, first took it to my bank (also GTB) for confirmation of banker's signature before proceeding to Data Max Registrars on the same day. It was because I know emails do not work with most backward Nigerian organisations that made me go in person, and I was proved right. I have been investing in the NSE for over 15 years, so I know how manual and slow the processes can be.

It was at their desk that I was informed that despite all these, I still need to visit my stockbrokers to sign some specimen signatures again, who will then take it to CSCS for another confirmation. Then bring it back. They did not even give me an option of sending by email. There is a big notice in their office that if they do not have your signature in their file, you have to do the above. And when I asked why they don't have my signature on file, I was told that it was because I bought from the secondary market. Is that not where most normal people buy stocks from?

This happened in the 3rd week of March, 2020, just before the lockdown, so it is very recent history. If you noticed, the SEC link was dated 2016. Apparently, the registrars are not following SEC's instruction, and I see it as nothing short of robbing people of their money.

Maybe I will go to SEC and CSCS social media pages to complain, until they enforce their own rules.

BusinessRe: I Am A Contractor But Things Are Falling Apart, Please Advise by kunlef1: 8:21pm On Apr 25, 2020
@OP

What I can deduce from your post is that you are good at what you do, for your client to continue giving you new contract even though you have disappointed them twice now due to lack of finance. But please do not abuse this privilege, as they may eventually blacklist you. I also applaud your entrepreneurial spirit, which is not so easy to come by in young people nowadays.

As you have noticed, it is very difficult for people to release their funds to total strangers, even if the contract is very attractive. You also mentioned that even your own relative is unwilling to help. That is how difficult it is to source money for contracts.

There are two ways I can advise you to approach your business going forward. The first is to try to only bid for contracts that you have the capability to execute, both technically and financially, and gradually build your profile. Banks will be the ones chasing you to give you loan once they see your cash flow, just as suggested by @ Stagger.

The other option you have is to bid for bigger projects as a Joint Venture or Consortium with other companies with the financial capability. There is nothing wrong with this. That is how even big companies bid for very big projects, even though they are direct competitors. I have personally involved in this several times for my employers, and it is a win-win for everybody. So, try to look for companies that may be interested, and go into the bid together right from the beginning, in a formal and legal manner. This way the financier also has an oversight into where the money is going and when they will be paid. It is really unlikely that anybody will easily part with their money if they are not part of the whole process.

Also, the client that is willing to give you a contract alone, will also give to a JV involving your business, because it gives them assurance that you will not fail again. But ofcourse, you have to do your due diligence on whoever you partner with to ensure they don't go behind you. But life itself is a risk anyways.

For the farming job, you may take it temporarily till things stabilise, but do not loose your focus. I see you more as an employer than employee, and Nigeria needs more of you.

You can send me a PM through Nairaland or send a mail to info(a)aquilaconsults(dot)com if you want to discuss further. Where are you based?

Has anyone ever used trove to buy local stock. How reliable are they cos they don't give cscs number so how do I trace my stock or get my dividends as I am thinking of converting my dollars to naira and buying local stock from them for the first time instead of sending the money back to my account and back to my local broker. Please share your experience if you have done business on local stock with them
Yes, I did buy GTB shares with them in early March, and my trove wallet was credited with my dividend the same day GTB paid. The amount of stock will show on your portfolio just like the foreign stocks too.

I intentionally chose not to use Chaka because I do not want the hassle of stockbrokers and CSCS. I do own GTB stocks offline too, and I have never received dividend for over 8 years. When I took a day off work to visit their registrar in Gbagada with a signed and stamped form, I was told that I need to still go back to my stockbrocker and CSCS to get some other forms signed and then bring it back because I purchased from the secondary market, so they do not have my signature on their file. Ofcourse I abandoned the effort to retrieve my unclaimed dividends again, maybe forever. But I will never have any direct dealings with Nigerian stockbrokers, registrar or CSCS again. Imagine having to go through that process for every company stock I own. It is just madness.

So, except you are really planning to buy a lot of shares and keep for many years, which might be worth the hassle, Trove may be a better option.

The figures is really misleading, I have read $15.23 on a couple of websites this evening and even on Trove and Bamboo itself. Just few mins to typing on here, I read its trading at $0.13" on another website.
Try to find out if the company consolidated their stocks recently. The current price vs initial price will show. I noticed that with one of my stocks - Scorpio Bulkers (SALT) - recently, as my 100 shares reduced to 10 overnight, but the price per share also increased about 10 folds. If you are on Trove, there is likely to be a news about this in their newsfeed section. Otherwise just Google the news about the company. If this is the case, it will be automatically changed on your portfolio. The platform has no influence on this.

Hi,

Have you been involved in the sales before, if yes who is/are your target market?

From your experience, how long will it take to sell 1000pcs?

Is 2000 pcs the minimum you must produce?

Can you show a sample picture of the t-shirt?

Cheers.

Recently graduated from unilag but i am certain business beats school!.

I would invest in Cloth manufacturing, I don’t need a 10M capital from 700k - 1M is more than enough to set me up. I’ve a connection with a clothing factory (owned by my dad prior his illness), with 700k I can produce 2000pcs of T-shirt’s in 3wks which would be sold for a 1000naira per piece wholesale and 1500 per piece retail. I’m guaranteed of over 120% return on my investment, within 2months ....Godspeed

@Tommieen

I will also like you to respond to this question raised earlier, as I also experienced it. It is very easy for someone to forget that you have placed an order on a stock if you cannot view or cancel it. Although I must mention that you were able to cancel it from your end when I raised the issue.

-Why is it impossible to cancel an order on Trove while this could be easily done on Chaka?

AgricultureRe: Poultry Business Partnership by kunlef1: 9:00pm On Feb 01, 2020
You only mentioned feeding in your cost analysis
but you need to clarify the following:

1.What is the cost of buying the chicks and feeding them before they start egg production?

2.How long will this take?

3. What does cost of monthly routine mean?

4. Is there any additional overhead costs as a result of increasing your production?

5. Do you have a ready buyers for the extra eggs to be produced?

6. What are you offering the investor(s)?

7. Is the business currently registered?

In summary, what is the total cost of production, cost of sales, actual profit margin, and how long will it take before making sales?

It is after all these that you can talk of profit margin.

I think you need to make your cost analysis clearer.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Electrical Engineer by kunlef1:
I will like to use this medium to thank those who have sent their CVs to the email address.

However, let me summarize my requirements for the job here for the benefit of other applicants:

1. HND or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. Hands-on experience in residential electrical installation. Industrial installation is an added advantage.
3. Knowledge of Mechanical I.e plumbing, HVAC etc. will be an added advantage.
4. Not more than 35 years old by 2020.
5. At least 3 years experience, but not necessarily in a corporate environment. Fresh graduate may be considered if he/she can demonstrate practical electrical experience prior to gaining admission.
6. Knowledge of solar installation, CCTV, DSTV installation, ICT, etc. will be added advantage.
7. Ideally living in or close to Lekki - Ajah axis.

The job will involve training others on electrical installation for residential properties, sales of electrical materials as well as carrying out repairs and new electrical works on buildings.

So my ideal candidate will be a graduate already involved in these types of work on his/her own, but wants to be part of a bigger team.

The business is just starting up, hence it may be on a part-time basis initially if preferred by the candidate. But I will need more people later once it fully takes off.

I will only contact the most suitable candidate for further discussion and will let you know on this forum if I have found somebody. So if I did not contact you personally, it is because you do not fit the profile I want.

Cheers.

What is your projection i.e expenditure, income and profit?

Do you have a ready market to sell the fish to?

What is your background/experience in this type of business?
etc.

BusinessRe: SEPLAT Contravenes Local Content Policy With Foreign MD by kunlef1: 5:45pm On Nov 28, 2019
Most of the recent expansion by Seplat are funded by foreign investors, hence may be one of the conditions to provide the loans.

Seplat is also listed on both Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges, hence the management system needs to meet and maintain international standards. As at the time Avuru took charge, this was not the case. It may also be better for Seplat to have an "international" face to enable it expand to new frontiers outside Nigeria.

Can someone send me a proposal on what he/she can do with an idle and unfenced 4 plots of land located off Ibadan - Iseyin Rd, Moniya Ibadan?

It was used by the villagers for subsistence farming more than 8 years ago, but has since overgrown with bush. I do occasionally send money for clearing but last time was over a year ago.

If you have a good agricultural proposal on what you can do with the land, just give a general outline of what you will do here, overall cost and profit to be made. If I like it enough, I will contact you for private discussion and more specific location details.

I prefer a proposal which has a ready-made market or off-takers for the agricultural produce.

Please note that I am ideally looking for a competent agricultural professional with good business proposal. I will be willing to sponsor the investment if I find it appealing enough, and we can agree on sharing ratio on the profit..

Nice spot. Though 250k a night is quite high. Any cheaper single room accommodation?
A cheaper option might be to stay at either Eko Tourist Beach Resort or Hermitage Resort, both in Akodo (opposite Lekki Free Trade Zone) and then drive about 15 - 20 mins to La Campagne Tropicana to spend the day. You should be able to get a 1 bedroom chalet for less than 30k there, and they also have nice and quiet beach fronts too, but not with varieties like La Campagne.

La Campagne accomodation has always been expensive, it was about 100k as at 2008. So I suspect the pricing is in dollars, just converted to Naira.
