So I hsve a second class lower division. Any of these schools consider 2:2? ROBERT GORDON HERRIOT-WATT ABERDEEN LONDON SOUTH BANK UNI NEWCASTLE IMPERIAL COLLEGE Cranfield University Pls I need help. |
I forgot to add this: is it advisable to bother myself with GRE knowing the school won't take someone with second class lower division anyway? |
@Dis guy, are you saying I should do a pre-master's in the UK then use the boosted CGPA to apply to an MSc program with the Canadian schools? Is that possible and how many people do you know who have done the same thing? |
Hi Nairalanders, I'm Kunle. I have a 1st degree in Chemical Engrng- 2nd Class Lower Div(2:2); 3.14 CGPA to be exact. I intend to put-in for a Master's degree program in Offshore(subsea)/Petroleum Engineering at a reputable school in one of the mentioned countries: CANADA- I tried the 5 schools offering what's close to what I want and also contacted advisors and admissions officers alike whom, after being told I have a 2:2 degree, wished me luck and said goodbye each time. These are the schools: UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY UNIVERSITY OF REGINA DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY Meanwhile, folks from MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND take SECOND CLASS and are willing to review my credentials but the problem is application has been closed for 2012 admittance since Nov 2011 and I don't get to apply until Sept 2012 when the forms are out for Fall 2013 start date! UK- well, I really have not checked ALL the admission requirements of the schools and dunno yet which ones take 2:2 of Aberdeen, Newcastle Uni, London South Bank, Herriot-Watt, Imperial College, Cranfield, Robert Gordon. US- I know most schools here require one to take GRE, TOEFL and whatnot but I really need advice from you guys. Norway- DOes anyone know anything about University of Stavanger or Norwegian University of Science and Technology(NTNU)? Pls I need help badly and urgently, too!. Kind regards!! |
There are 5 schools actually: UofA UCal Memorial university Dalhousie University of Regina. I have the 2:2 disease and I'm not sure there's hope. I have tried all the schools but some1 was going on about a postgrad diploma program on another thread on here. On it he says it's possible to get into the diploma program first and then the MSc later. I have my 1st degree in Chemical Engineering (2:2). I want to get into one of these 5 Canadian schools that have MSc options in Petroleum Eng but it's proving impossible what with their requiring 2:1 and all that. Pls HELP ME!!! |
crispgg:@Crispgg: plssss cld u elucidate on this postgrad diploma thingy? been on this MSc thing for months on end tryin to find a way around this 2:2 issue and canada schools. I have my 1st degree in Chemical Engineering (2:2). I want to get into one of the 4 Canadian schools that have MSc options in Petroleum Eng but it's proving impossible what with their requiring 2:1 and all that. Pls HELP ME!!! |
@ Ajanlekoko, the entry options which are, ? All I want is to have my M.Sc done in Canada as to improve my chances of getting on a good perch in d industry and also to witness firsthand how things are done appropriately. I dnt want it to be d same way I had my first degree in Chem Engr. Finance really isn't the problem here. I want Canada. I'm tryin to avoid the US as they ask for too many requirements, in my own opinion |
Tx folks, I reali apprcte ur inputs. Dis guy, exactly hw to go abt dat? Some schools dnt do transfers, man. |
What's "glocal"? |
Hi All, I'd appreciate if I could have someone advise genuinely on this. I also have a 2:2 in Chemical Engineering, bt all the Petroleum Engineering schools in Canada dnt subscribe to my "kind"- sadly. Is there some program I can enroll in to stand me in good stead? Or a better one than I'm in? is there no hope? |
