firo: Justwise can you please help us with this ?@Firo, perhaps it's not in the immigration rules bt I'm super sure it's in the Tier4 guidance article 158 or 58 or so... if I'm not mistaking. Bt let's hope for the best..cheers |
firo: ***Thank you for your reply its much appreciated but the reason why im worried is shown in the attachement attached to my reply please check it it is a figure that shows that if the conversion is not done by ME the app will get refused . PLEASE see the attached figure and tell me if this apply or not and sorry for taking of ur time . ***@Firo, from the attached I gathered you did not only fail to write the conversion on your application, you also did not print the exchange rate for the date of your closing balance from Oanda.com.... You'll have to wait and see. Might I know how/where you got that flowchart though? |
Cavenchy: I would have gone with the Form A option though if I were u, but since u've already made payment using a friend's dorm account. I suggest u keep close contact with the account owner incase the school decides to refund your money 4 any reason whatsoever(I'm hoping it never gets to that though),Reason: the sch can only refund fees paid to the account it was paid from. All the Best.Is the form A option cheaper? I had to pay about 60Pounds over my deposit of 3000 Pounds when I transferred from a Dom acct. |
justwise: A lot of people i know did not book appointment, rather they got there early and was attended to. Yes its important you get your documents ready before going there, that will save you alot of trouble when you get there. This may sound a little simple but how do you get your documents ready? Any format of arrangement? |
Cavenchy: Thank God I just picked up my Visa!!! Justwise, A-ZED, Kunlewoye and all that contributed words of advice and encouragement, may God reward y'all abundantly.Congrats bruva!! I feel like going tomorrw to drop mine already... Where's ur skool? |
God willing it will.
Thanks..will need ur info later. u can look up Oye Ijiwoye on FB. justwise: This is the forms you need.http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/visas/vaf9.pdfThanks Justwise, Wish to be able to associate a face to this name! |
@Justwise, A-Zed:
I did not pay any money for accomodation.
Now, I'm downloading forms o. Which one(s) did you fill? The VAF3A and VAF9 are confusing. Please advise on what not to forget, did you go with your passport photos or were you snapped there (outside, before you went in)? What to do to so as to not get there and wait/queue. Thanks! |
Justwise has said it all. @all rather than give any money to agents, send it to justwise. Just get numbers 1-3 on your list and submit it. Make sure your documents are GENINUE. Any mistakes(dob, name spelling) get an official document(affidavit which should be notarized ) to back you up and make sure you specify the mist ;Dake in your form.
I quite agree with that! Justwise, jst so you know. You HAVE been of help to so many, myself inclusive. Thank you!! |
Thanks. s per the waec thing, i submitted a notorized affidavit stating the errors on my waec certificate and the correction. A photocopy of my waec certificate was also notarized. I had done the notarization since 2010. Wishing you all the best. Hope to welcome you personally to the uk. I applied in Lagos(ikeja) 30th of may and the visa was issued on the 14th of june though vfs contacted me on the 21th. That makes it 9 working days.
Thanx mate! I have a notarized affidavit from the FCT Federal High Court already. How and where did u notarize the Waec cert? There's this hologram thing on it though. EmmaIK: Did you pay in Pounds into your sis dorm account or Dollars? I'm having issues too coz even though I have a dorm account its Dollar denominated.Yes, my sister's Dom is Pounds Sterling denominated and I got a mallam to deposit the Pounds for me. |
Got my visa. Thanks Justwise, kunlewoye
YAy! Congrats, bruva!! Waiting for my turn o... will be applying next month. How did you go about the WAEC thingy? I'm presently in ABJ and still intend to obtain a letter from WAEC before my 28-day period elapses plus the affidavit I already have, although I'm contemplating not even going for the WAEC letter since i already told my school to include it in the CAS that I submitted an affidavit to point to the fact that my YOB is 1986 and not 1985 as it is on the cert. I guess that will have to do. Could you go over your process from CAS and exactly what you tendered? Where are you having your program? Kindest regards... |
justwise: The reason why i keep stretching this issue is to avoid misleading people who come here to get information. In that material you copied and pasted here, there was no mention of private landlord, there was no place it stated that money paid to private landlord will not be accounted as maintenance money.@Justwise: I feel u, bruv. You know at times these people withhold info so they can refuse u ur Visa and still be able to xplain to you using those quoted articles and it'd still make sense (not that they care to make sense all the time, tho..lol) but it's better to be on the safe side, moreover, this guidance document was released a few months back and no recommendations we make now can be definitive except someone comes on here to cry foul after being refused based on this ambiguity. |
FutureDon: @ All.If possible, try to use someone else's Dom acct (I used my sister's) but the incurred charges are over the roof mehn, for GTB o; I was charged about 60Pounds xtra when I transferred my tuition deposit of 3000Pounds, or try to use a certain Airchoice Travels. I was referred to them on this forum as well and I am in no way affiliated with or advocating for them. I called them up to enquire abt their services and was told to transfer the Naira equivalent (I was not in Lagos so I could not go over to their office; they're at Opebi I think)and that they would be forex-ing @ 162Naira/Pound. Thought that was much so I opted for GTB but realized that's much worse..... Best of luck! |
Still waiting to hear from ukba. Today is the 11th working day(i applied 30th of may. june 4th and 5th were public holidays.). Would definately let you know how as soon as i get a reply.
I no fit imagine wetin u dey go through...lol... waiting for my deposit to clock 28days and I'm getting the jitters already! |
justwise: It says there that the deduction applies if the Tier 4 (General) student will be staying in university or college arranged accommodation; think it's simple enough....and from 167 as shown below it states succinctly on what terms you would be claiming the 10 points for maintenance or what do you think? still not convinced? Documents Needed to Claim Points for Maintenance (funds) 167. To claim 10 points for Maintenance (funds) a Tier 4 (General) student must show evidence that he/she: • has paid all or part of his/her course fees and up to £1,000 towards accommodation fees to his/her Tier 4 sponsor; and/or • is receiving official financial sponsorship; and/or • has enough money to cover his/her remaining course fees and living costs, if any. |
justwise: @jUSTWISE, SORRY i FAILED TO REFERENCE...HERE IT IS http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/pbs/Tier4migrantguidance.pdf tier4 guidance from ukba page 37 article 163 If the Tier 4 (General) student can show that he/she has already paid all or some of his/ her accommodation fees to his/her Tier 4 sponsor before making his/her application, this amount will also be taken away from the total amount of money he/she will need to show for living costs up. The amount taken away cannot exceed a maximum of £1,000, even if the student has paid more than £1,000 in advance for accommodation. For example, a Tier 4 (General) Student is studying inside Inner London, is on a course of more than 12 months, has paid their course fees in full and has an established presence. The amount of maintenance they would need to show would be £2,000 (£1,000 for 2 months), however, as they have already paid £1,000 to their University as a contribution towards their accommodation, the amount they need to show is reduced to £1,000: Amount of Maintenance - £2,000 Amount paid to Sponsor for accommodation - £1,000 Total maintenance they are required to show - £1,000. This only applies if the Tier 4 (General) student will be staying in university or college arranged accommodation. |
@Justwise, sorry you did not understand my previous post. If u pay 3000 to the school for accomodation, the maximum UKBA will deduct from the money you wld need to show for maintenance is 1000 Pounds, not 3000, and dats even IF you choose school accommodation o. If you choose to arrange your accomodation privately then they will deduct NOTHING from your 9k or 7200 maintenance that you need to show regardless of how much u paid |
justwise: @JUSTWISE; FROM THE TIER 4 GUIDANCE NOTES, IT SAYS THE MAXIMUM THEY CAN DEDUCT FOR ACCOMMODATION FROM YOUR MAINTENANCE FEE IS 1,000POUNDS EVEN IF YOU PAID EVERYTHING... CAN U CONFIRM THIS? STILL WAITING FOR A-ZED TO COME GIVE US NEWS O |
lanrewajew: Yes it does. The maintenance fee for inner London is £9000, while my school fee balance is £2000 which equals £11000. £11000 x N270 = 2970000Just wait for the 28days to be over and do a transaction, however little, even if it's 100naira, a day before you submit your application so your closing balance shows you still had that money in ur account after the 28days have elapsed.
This advice is coming 3 days late cos i included my waec certificate and i have name issues on it. I asked for your opinion on it but i guess you did not see it.
@A-Zed: So you don finally drop am! I hope u did with dat affidavit or did you later go for the WAEC letter? Praying for u, bruv. |
I've got someone close who just got a job at waec and after i saw sean001 post, i asked her and she said its true cost is 10k. i'm submitting my application tomorrow so i'm hoping on God. I'm going for a pre masters.. resumption is 18th of june so i'm even late. add me as a friend then you'll be able to send me a mail.
Best of luck, mate! I hope you start the good news for us o. I need to get a good hang of this Nairaland. Will see if I know how to add you and send a mail. Might you know an easy way of paying one's study deposit? |
@A-Zed: did u present your waec cert to the school for any reason? I actually sent an affidavit in with my. Waec cert jst incase it's possible to state on d cas that I was offered admission based on d cert + affidavit. Jst makin sure I avoid dat "deliberate deception" thingy. |
@ A-Zed; wher did you confirm it? Wld like to know. I was @ my school after waec instructed me to get a letter frm the princpal. The school is in Osun state so the letter was addressed to WAEC Osogbo as that's the regional office under which my school was placed. I still have the letter here with me as I'm in Abj due to work commitments bt will go to waec, Osogbo later in June when I'm about applying to obtain the letter. I hope it won't take forever to obtain the letter as this whole process has made me lie a lot of times to get free time away from work. I'm nt even sure if I'd be referred to Lagos to get the letter. I also intend to use this period to obtain a letter of attestation that can be verified frm my uni. Pls does any1 kno other things I should obtain? I don't want to have to b absent frm work again after this period. Thanks. @A-zed, are u for this sept? . I'm nt sure it's allowed to post one's number or pin on here; wld like to av a chat. On a sidenote, my 3k deposit was returned by my frnd in d uk ystrday sayin he cld only withdraw 500/day and den b charged £4/wthdrawal.does any1 know how to transfer d money to the school easily? |
@Olaremy2k: For them to have given u an UNconditional offer letter then you must have satisfied their minimum requirements. What about your CAS number? I'm not sure the other refusal hld affect this; jst make sure you do not lie when they ask if you'v been refused b4. |
Any1 planning to go to Salford this September? |
@A-Zed, I hope for the best, mate.I have thought about going for another passport but my mum informed me that she tendered our birth cert @ d BHC @ som point. I just have to make sure I inform he school so that it's stated on my CAS the conditions on which my offer was based. |
I must say I'm gettin addicted to Nairaland now. Perhaps dat's d way it is when u'r looking to get ur visa. I know whatever happens I'll stil av to commend the work of Justwise, ell77 and d lot of dem. U guys are simply magnificent for pple. I introduced a friend to Nairaland for visa info and d guy is really buzzing with confidence and cnt wait. It's more than just d info; it's abt d hope and confidence pple com back to give you wen they've been successful. Here's me jst appreciating every single post on here that has added substance to me in d minutest way. Thnk you. I hope my applicatn is uccesful when I finaly put it in nxt month. Jst fulfilld my conditional offer terms and waiting fr my CAS. Best wishes, everyone! |
@ Justwise and everyone in the house: Now the question about my sponsor. I work and earn fairly good as a fresh grad(finished NYSC last June and started working in August) but my brother is going to be my sponsor. From the UKBA website it says you either sponsor yourself (have the money in your account for at least 28 days), or use a sponsor. It's not stated categorically if your sponsor can deposit the money in your account(I feel if one opts for this it may be seen as a way of escaping all the paperwork involved in using your sponsor's bank statement) I'm trying to avoid depositing the money in my account and being asked "how come you have so much money and you've only been working for 10months?". what supporting documents should be obtained from my sponsor should this scenario be possible? that is depositing d money into my account. Personally, I would prefer to have the money in my account. Any suggestions ? |

Thank you very much. |
Ahh! Na wah o. @A-zed, this is how things are in this our country. I a at my sec school as I type this post; waiting to have my letter to waec. I hope this process will be worth the while. |
@Pacsinzu, Seems we are in the same mess 2geda. As I type I am on my way frm Abuja to my secondary school in Osun for d 2nd tym in 3wks. I'm goin fr d letter frm my principal. Pls what does d body of your letter contain? Is it addressed to waec, to whom it may concern, or directly to the uk commission? Since u won't b having another one issued. Cld u drop ur digits/email or wateva u feel to drop? Tx |
Well, frm wat I've heard, not going there with your original certificate leads to an amost automatic refusal. I wil be goin there with the cert, an affidavit frm d federal high court-which I already have, an acknowledgement frm waec, my old statement of result, declaration of age(made in 2005 when I cld nt find my birth cert), confirmation of result, sent directly from waec and other things that might help. I wil make sure I avoid trying to deliberately deceive anyone. I have presented the case to the schools so it's not like I hid it frm them and wil now present something else to the commission |
Hi Seyibrown poster, I was checking threads on how to go about solving an issue I have with regarding date of birth error on my waec cert and saw your comment on there about you being successful! Please what should I do?! The YOB on my cert reads 1985 instead of 1986! How did you resolve yours? was it a student visa you applied for? Pls I need you advice urgently. Sorry to go all viral on your posts!................................... |
