holloziggi: congrats..hw long did d VFS take 2process ur passport?I got the text to come for collection yesterday (Thursday) which was the 16th working day from the date of submission (July 19). Dharkchild: Thanks for the info. pls who its going to Manchester between 10th and 17th?Me! Me!! Me!!! I'm actually thinking between 7th and 14th, depending on the flight booking. Looking for the best deals, mate. |
Emmaokudu: Which English test to be exact, I thought the English test were for candidates from countries where English language isn't their first language. Cause I'm considering strathclyde , I'm thinking of doing a masters in one subsea related course I saw on their brochure. Any ideas if Robert Gordon may accept a 2:2? Although the requirement clearly says 2:1 for Nigerian candidates.IELTS(preferable) OR TOEFL should do it. You already have your answer. It's stated on their website they take only 2:1 from Nigeria. I was also going in for Subsea Engineering bt opted for Salford instead. |
honey86: when is your school start date?September 24 is stated on my CAS, but I received an e-mail some days back that registration starts on the 17th, I just got my text from VFS today that my Passport's ready for collection but I am currently in Lagos, to be back in Abuja on Sunday where I submitted. I gave a friend of mine the signed Authorization Form before I left so he should go collect on my behalf tomorrow. I intend to travel early September should I be granted the visa. See ya in Manchester!! Plss I need someone to work with as per travel plans o. holla back! |
Donxavier: Abi o, people funny sef Dharkchild: At the point where prayer changes noting...loll..., anticipating your testimony.Don't mind me, it's what happens when you're antsy...lol. I was never bothered all through the wait, I never, for once, checked the status online. Now I got the text and I'm so tensed... |
Hi all, I submitted on the 19th of July and I've just received the text to come for collection o!.... .. Pray for me... |
holloziggi: University of salford manchester, environmental managementUni of Salford, MSc. Petroleum and Gas Engineering. Visa status: 15th working day from application date today; awaiting contact any day now. @holloziggi, which stage are you now? |
I haven't gone through the posts but I really think this is also a good 1! Uni of Salford, MSc. Petroleum and Gas Engineering |
I was offered admission by both schools. I chose Salford because they offered me Pet and Gas Engrng. I ignored Strathclyde because they did not inform me initially I'd need an English test score and it was almost too late to start preparing as I was hoping to be for September intake. Awaiting my visa. |
honey86: I got my visa today, finally!!!!!. I submitted on the 4th of July, received the message that my processed application is ready for collection on the 27th of July. Who else is going to ManchesterCongrats! I was actually looking out for ur news. How come they contacted u on the 27th and u just went for it? Yes, I will be going to Manchester(Salford Uni) if granted my visa... Next week Wednesday should make it 15 working days from when I applied(July 19). Hopefully, I'll be able to share the good news on here. Cheers |
Cavenchy: Well, your application is in already, just hope for the best, in my opinion i don't think you'll be denied if the holes left by the staple pin does not obstruct/conceal your facial features, during my application the uniformed personnel mentioned gum, if in your case the steward used a staple, you can be sure he took proper care in stapling the edges without boring pin holes on your image, as some everyday people do when stapling their photos themselves. So there's no problem.Yes, he did collect and staple them to one of the forms, can't remember which, though, and yes, he was careful to staple on the sides of photos; one to the top right corner and the other to the bottom right corner. When I got to the 1st stage of submission where they give u d folder for your docs, the lady jst removed the photos carefully but I really don't know what she did with, or wher she placed, them as I didn't open that folder @ all till I finished with biometrics. If there was a problem I guess she wld av called my attention to it. |
Donxavier: . I'm glad you brought this up. It's hard to argue with your logic, but I'm of the opinion that visa applicants should just stick to the letter of the rules. If we are required by their rules to only provide the documents stated on the CAS, then we should only do that. I get that more is better, and as you have said the onus is on us to prove beyond any reasonable doubt our genuineness but this shouldn't require us going overboard. Maybe the various fake documents and false information given by some applicants have made the whole process more stringent, but I believe this shouldn't affect genuine applicants as long as they follow all the rules. A friend of my got his Visa last week, he only provided his university certificate(that was the only thing stated on his CAS), his bank statement, His international passport, the Visa forms correctly filled, the Oanda Conversion Rate. That was all and he got the Visa. And then I ve heard of those who were only asked to provide their university certificate, but included the WAEC,Transcripts,Nysc certificate, Tax returns etc. They also got the Visa. More wouldn't hurt any way, but it's unnecessary. If under the new Tier 4 rules, you can't be rejected because a large sum of money was deposited in your account, then you won't be rejected if you only provide what's stated in your CAS. I'd appreciate it if more people comment on this.Well, my Waec cert and 1st deg cert were stated in my CAS bt I included evrything I used in getting the admission. My reason: it's stated that should one's visa be refused and you appealed, only the docs u submitted originally would be used in re-assessing your application. Moreover, I had to explain why the year of birth on my waec cert states "1985", as opposed to the correct 1986 with all the affidavit from the Federal High Court, Declaration of Age, parents' passport data pages to show their names as they appear on d D of A, old statements of result of both WAEC n NECO(+ original Neco cert) exams sat for in 2001. Some don't go this far to convince the ECO, bt I knew I'd feel better sitting here knowing I did try, than pondering what might have been shld any adverse outcome surface. @ Cavenchy, I took the passport @ d visa center n I as asked by the steward if I had attached my passport photos to my form. I said I hadn't n then he helped staple 2 to 1 of my forms. I hope this stapling won't harm my chances...wat's ur take? Have people been refused based on this? |
http://www.uel.ac.uk/international/advice/documents/intervaf9.pdf http://www.uel.ac.uk/international/advice/applications-outside-uk.htm From the 1st link above you can get the interactive visa aplication form to guide yoU when filling your form. I tried to get the other link bt it wldnt copy onto my clipboard; you can open the second link and scroll down to gt the two INTERACTIVE forms, NOT the real forms. |
Sorry I couldnt attach them. Seems there's some cap on the size of files one can append. ![]() |
Chuks84: Hello, please what is the difference between an education provider and an overseas higher education institution Donxavier: They are the same.@Donxavier, An education provider is your UK Tier 4 sponsor and an overseas higher education institution is the institution in your home country (if you're for a study-abroad program). I'm sure of this. For people who need a guide on how to fill the Appendix 8 and VAF9 forms, you can use these templates from University of East London; just place your cursor on the yellow info tabs to have a hunch of what you should do in the relevant spaces provided on your printed forms. However, do note that the part where it states 9,000 for maintenance fees only applies to schools located in inner London, use 7,200 for the space provided for schools outside London. I hope this helps someone. Good luck! |
I've been here for a month doing a pre-sessional course. Msc starts sept 24th.
Chief AZ, how's it going bruh? we dey still dey hope o. |
Cavenchy: Noted..The cas print-out may not be required during visa application, but its still wise to print it out because you might be needing it later at the Port of Entry in the uk. I added mine in my visa application and I wasn't refused cos of it. Rather I think it just made wat I stated(on d form) clearer because of digits like 'O' and '0', 'I' and '1' when handwritten. You may be on to something there.... didn't quite think out that "O" and "0" thingy. All is well. You left yet or still waiting for Sept? Submitted at VFS Abuja on the 19th, so I'm HOPING by 8th Aug I'll hear something good. |
Cavenchy: Try to understand what is being posted before making analysis, the POE (Point of Entry) is different from your Visa Application center. Azed was refering to the POE in the uk when he said he was asked for the CAS and the documents stated therein. Read that my previous post again and you'll fully comprehend the statement.Sorry, Cavenchy. The riposte was meant for the same post u replied to but somehow quoted ur post. The original post asks if it's required to submit your application with your CAS print-out and I was taken aback. And yes I was referring to VFS Visa Application Center, not the Port of Entry(POE) |
Nice 1, I actually intend for my VISA to be out first before making accommodation plans. You will surely hear from me. |
chy22: Pls those of u that submited on the 6th have u collected? Those complaining before talk Gadgetfreakzz: . I haven't seen any update on my application status yet, still waiting . I applied on the 6thFor those that applied on the 6th, this Friday makes it fifteen working days, I'd start getting worried only after Friday. Cavenchy: An applicant is required to quote the CAS number on the visa application form, if you choose to print the cas statement itself, good. As Azed stated above, he was asked to present the cas and the documents stated on it at the POE in the uk.For where dem hear say we suppose dey print CAS again o?... Thot it was stated expressly we should only state the CAS number in the application... ![]() |
What about Honey86? Have you gotten yours?? He also submitted on July 4 and I don't see him complaining yet...perhaps he's gone to bring us the good news today. Pls chill people, e go comot no worry. |
chillax, Mr. Chiz Bals..... ...many are in your shoes. Be patient just a little more; they won't eat it |
hey Guys, i just got my student visa today. Rejoice with me.
congrats! just yesterday u dey parah... hope honey86 gets his too!! steph7: mine was still valid, I had to renew it cos it was expiring dec, the old one was returned to me but cancelled without prejudice, that way only the new one is valid. Cancelled was stamped over the pages. I had a visa on it tho, call and ask them to cancel it without prejudice. I did mine too last month so it can't be a new rule@Steph7, there you have it... I'm sure it's no biggie. It's not like they have any OJORO they always do with old passports, or is there? I have already dropped my application and nothing matters till we see the outcome. I heard about this strike by UKBA officials, how true is this? |
justwise: They will use the exchange rate of the day you submitted your application. Write out the exchange rate of the day you are making the application.I have applied today. The way the ATAS thing came in last night was miraculous! i was talking about ATAS all day yesterday. It was quite hassle-free. These delays people have been complaining about may just be coz of the Olympics. Is it true results of applications submitted here (Abuja) come out quicker than Lagos applications? Cavenchy: If your previous passport was a virgin passport and also an e-passport, they won't return it. Apply with the new one, and when asked in the application segment abt previous passport history, state the old passport number and any others you had before it. then state that it's been replaced by a new passport stating your (current) passport number. This was actually reiterated. Thanks guys.....hoping for the best. |
As regards oanda, apart from writing how much u have in your account in pounds on the bank statemnts/Application, should one write the conversion of the amount needed to still be paid in Naira or how do they check ur transactions during the 28 days didn't bring ur balance below what's required? Should I take my passport at VFS or give the specs to a photographer? These ones need answering too....pls good pple! |
justwise: Ask them to return your old passport since you have used the details there to apply for admission, presenting photo copies is not a good idea. you supposed to submit both the old and the new passport.I actually called again to know if I could be given my old passport but they reiterated again I cant have it back since i had neva used it to travel before and it's not like it expired. |
justwise: Ask them to return your old passport since you have used the details there to apply for admission, presenting photo copies is not a good idea. you supposed to submit both the old and the new passport.Hi all, the new one just came out tonight with the details of the new passport!!! I'm soo applying tomorrow!!!!! |
justwise: They supposed to return your old passport cancelled, photo copies may not be accepted.@Justwise, does this spell doom?... Me I no understand again o...perhaps I should press them some more to know if it's absolutely impossible to have it back. |
steph7: why was your old passport withheld, I recently renewed my e passport and it was cancelled and returned . I doubt them seizing ur passport is rightHi Steph, -I was told since I had no visa to show in it(valid/invalid) then it would not be returned as it would mean having two valid passports -The one I did a validity extension on was supposed to expire next January. Salford Uni advised it'd be better to have a passport with a validity covering the duration of my program -Did you do a validity extension for ur e-passport or it expired and then you renewed? -I had never done a validity extension before so I specifically asked for my old passport back but they would not give it back. -This was about a month ago. |
Hi All, I'm all set to apply. My ATAS clearance was granted some weeks back, just before Salford Uni advised that I extend the validity of my passport that was expiring next January(I later found out this was unnecessary). I went ahead and got the new passport (the old one was withheld by the issuing authority- ABUJA) and then made another ATAS application to bear the new passport details. Is it possible to use the ATAS clearance initially assigned stating to UKBA I did validity extension on my passport since the old and new ATAS would bear the same details anyway(course,uni....) bar the passport information? Thinking of presenting copies of the passport page of the old/withheld passport to back it up. Is this advisable? The new application is taking forever! |
Cavenchy: @Justwise, taking a 2nd look at this situation don't u think he can print the statement and set the start and end dates as 11th May to 23rd June, so that the closing balance is stated on 23rd june and its presently not up to a month after then(so that he can apply before 23rd July)? Then he prints oanda conversion for 23rd june?I actually think this is correct. @Justwise, from GTBank perspective, you can actually set those dates but na just my opinion o. Left to me, I would do just that since, even if the UKBA should contact the bank, I would still have the required balance as I made it back up to the required level. I doubt the bank would state my transactions afta a particular date(June 24 in this case), they'd only confirm my current balance to UKBA- no time! ![]() |
.. Pray for me...
