I don come again, guys. So, upon IELTS and ECA completion I submitted my profile in April (spouse unaccompanying). New Brunswick PNP sent me an unsolicited LOI. I responded with my EOI submission and ITA was received afterwards from NB. Lost birth certificate. I have an old Declaration of Age affidavit. Not sure exactly what would suffice in place of an original birth certificate. Kindly advise. Funds from a recent land sale will go toward this process. Pls how am I supposed to package my PoF? Background info: CRS - 471. Brother 1 in Ontario (Canadian Citizen) Mum: Canadian PR Brother 2 in New Brunswick (Canadian PR. Chosen as my connection). 1 Like |

Uniqueforce: So I sat for IELTS (with IDP/MOD) for the first time on March 21, 2020 R - 8.5 L - 8.5 S - 7.5 W - 7 (despite my essay's incomplete word count; time ran out). Just to share some of the materials I made use of. LISTENING AND READING parts: This particular app proved invaluable: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lt.ieltspracticetest Also try the free tests on ieltsonlinetests.com (General Training) and the British Council IELTS website for size. They give a very good feel of the real exam conditions/situations, imho. PS: pls append https:// to the beginning of every YouTube link below. I removed it in order to avoid the rather distracting big images the links create. WRITING: Watch these short videos, write down the tips, and follow those instructions in trying out 3 different letter and essay formats each (6 total) IN THE DAYS LEADING UP TO YOUR TEST DATE. TASK 1 (Letter Writing) General Letter Writing Tips: youtu.be/bBjp3EVMr64 Formal Letters: youtu.be/4y_u4o5kp_w Informal Letters: youtu.be/lBHf7LCWhVs youtu.be/Y5oPF7QLgyo TASK 2 (Essay): youtu.be/dbNVbIA8Os0 youtu.be/indZ5C4O5C0 SPEAKING youtu.be/arrIPUa1V6A Test Day Tips Work on your introduction before your Speaking test (write down and memorize exactly how you'll briefly introduce and talk about yourself, starting well might set the tone for the rest of the test) Master the art of skimming and scanning for your Reading. Understanding the question first before going to each passage for your answer saves time, I found. Be focused and attentive 101% in Listening. Clear your mind. BREEZING THROUGH THE QUESTION FIRST BEFORE THE PASSAGE STARTS HELPS A TON IN ANTICIPATING THE ANSWER Write your essay first and your Letter after that (I made this mistake and had to rush the concluding paragraph. I still managed to survive, however. Lucky me!) DO NOT INUNDATE YOURSELF WITH TOO MUCH MATERIAL OUTSIDE OF THESE! 33 Likes 16 Shares |

Meanwhile, I wrote my IELTS with IDP on March 21. The results were released on April 3 and I used the Trf code from the online result to submit my EE profile even though I've not received the paper copy. Is this fine? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hi guys, My first post in this thread! I've gone through the first few pages but couldn't get info I need. Kudos to all the well-meaning folk on here who devote their time to attending to the issues of others. God bless y'all. I'd appreciate help with 2 issues: 1 - When creating an Express Entry profile, do I need to state previous visitor visa applications where it asks if you've applied to IRCC b4? I mean, does this apply to previous visitor visa applications, since it's a non-immigrant visa? 2 - I have a compound surname (i.e, xxxx-zzzz) I have 7 siblings and some of us go by xxxx, while the others go by zzzz (couldn't use the full surname from my Secondary School days, as it would have exceeded WAEC's 25-character naming rule). My parents use the full surname. I have 2 brothers in Canada. Brother 1 - Canadian citizen since 2006, goes by zzzz from my surname xxxx-zzzz. Brother 2 - Canadian PR since 2018, goes by xxxx from my surname.(same as myself). I'd prefer to use Brother 1 as my Canadian contact in my profile but it would appear as if we go by different surnames. HOW CAN I PROVE THIS? The preference is due to the fact that Brother1 is way more established than my other brother who uses the same part of my compound surname as myself. Brother1 has also invited me to Canada on one occasion in 2017(application was unsuccessful) PS - Our Mum is also a PR. And she goes by the full surname xxxx-zzzz. Apologies for the long post, guys. Ejowo. |

Hi all, Thanks to all who have contributed to make this thread what it is today. More grease..... wherever it's needed Please I'd like to know to whom my employer needs to address the intro letter. I already got all the important details to be included from the first page of this thread. Also noteworthy is the fact that I'll be leaving this job by the end of this month (dem don give me letter ). Is there anything else I should be looking to get from my current employer towards completing this application apart from the letter? A brief summary of the Express Entry Program is also welcome. |

orabs: Well, make your document checklist similar to mine plus hotel booking documents if you don't have anyone inviting you over. Also include any information on the places you'll be visiting. Be very specific. Show them you know what you're doing. Also I've found that when it involves a family they're usually interested in how much you have and whether you're able to afford the trip...meaning you should go with a significantly sufficient bank balance. I'd say from around 5M if I'm being honest with you. |

Femcesc07: My oga na so o... Perhaps by April I go start dey make plans . Thanks. Meanwhile, my passport expires in June and my bro was saying something along the lines of airlines not allowing you on board if your passport's validity is less than 6months, I'm also making my Canada application now and they usually give you a visa to cover the validity of your passport. What should I do in this case as I don't want them to give me visa that's only valid for a few months. Any thoughts? Is it possible to have another passport now, even though the current passport still has a few months left to run? |

OK my peoples... apologies for the long submission So I went for my interview on Wednesday Jan 18 which literally didn't last 3mins. I was quite ready but wanted to crosscheck with my NL folks. I'll be going to visit relatives that gave me the invitation and to also attend my niece's graduation after promising her in December to be there. I work in Naija although I was resident in the UK in the past and my last refusal for a US visa was in London citing some stupid reason. I was going to the US on vacation with my brother and his family at the time. Visa refusals have never really affected me the way people see it. I go just leave quietly and try another time as I no dey even send that Yankee, to be honest. So a quick run through for you guys: Document checklist: Interview appointment confirmation page DS-160 confirmation page with the uploaded photo and barcode (print in colour) Introduction letter from my employer Employment contract payslips for the past 6months 2 passport photos (staple one of them to your DS-160. Not required but found it's one of the shady ways they make money off of u) International passport GTBank receipt Bank statement (dating back 6months) Invitation letter Inviting person's passport page and work ID. My interview was slated for 10:45am at Walter Carrington, VI Left my office which is just further down Ozumba Mbadiwe around quarter past 9am. (Walter Carrington is off Ozumba, mind you). Got there and made some quick calls in the car before leaving my phone and all the stuff I wouldn't be allowed to go in with. The touts were already assembling at my window asking me to park in their space for 1k Naira (I paid them 500 when I finished). Immediately some of the ITK boys started to tell me the order in which I was supposed to have all my documents arranged. Now let me say something, with the way we are in Naija fowl go grow teeth before things will get better in this country. I'm almost 1000% certain the local guys checking the docs with the local security outfit have some kind of arrangement going on with these boys that offer the printing, stapling, photocopying and stuff at extortionate prices.... stapling 200, printing of passport data page, visa pages, etc at 1k per page, and some other silly things they say you must do before going in. THEY WERE WRONG! YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING EXCEPT WHAT YOU'RE BRINGING TO YOUR INTERVIEW!! Make sure you COLOUR PRINT YOUR DS-160 CONFIRMATION ONLY AND STAPLE A PASSPORT TO IT BEFORE YOU GET THERE, SHIKENA THEY WILL WANT TO BULLY YOU INTO PRINTING UNNECESSARY NONSENSE NB: those boys outside will try so hard to want to bully you into printing your passport's data page and ALL THE VISAS you have in your passport (at 1k per page) to show your travel history. PLEASE don't fall for it. YOU DO NOT NEED IT! I was also told I couldn't go in with my car key..ALL LIES!! Just drop all your phones and any gadgets in the car. If you're not driving, I think they provide you with a place to keep all your stuff for 1k during the security checks. I didn't need that, though I got really pissed in the process and was almost late for my interview as I left my GTBank receipt on one of their stupid tables in the process of listening to the nonsense of Mr. Print Everything. I had to first check-in for my appointment and then told to go back outside for my receipt and be back within 20mins. I went back outside in search of my GTBank receipt and I got back there at 10:46am and my appointment was supposed to be for 10:45! Went through security and finally got in to a long queue. Nobody in there told me what to do, I was in the interview queue for almost 20mins without knowing I had to have my passport scanned at a counter first. Thank God for the guy behind me who asked if I had done that. I quickly left that queue for the passport checking and, shortly afterwards, finger printing and returned to my position in the queue. I got to the front of the VO Me: Good morning Vo: (Didn't greet....no courtesy). Can I have your passport? (I give am) Vo: So where are you going in the United States? Me: xxxx, New Jersey Vo: For what? Me: Well, I'll be going on vacation for 2 weeks. Vo: Why New Jersey? Me: That's where my cousin lives and I will be visiting Atlantic City, Adventure Aquarium, and the Independence Hall in Philadelphia Vo: What do you do? Me: I mentioned where I work and what I do there. Vo: Okay, Your visa is approved, This slip will tell you about how to get your Passport. Me: Thanks (....and I bounced) I spent less than 3mins, no documents checked! I observed you just have to be confident and be specific about what you do, where and why you're going. Thanks guys for the advice, apologies for the long story. I hope to travel before May and I never even start to dey make plans. 18 Likes 2 Shares |

xykms101: Guy I was surprised mine was collected from me as well but with no visas in it, just like the OP's case. We don't know about their internal workings and, therefore, wouldn't know why they do what they do. Think of it this way, they get a directive to take back passports within a specific number range and without valid visas (perhaps due to the fact those could easily be forged), would they tell you why they're taking it? Please let's be constructive as he's advised. I strongly believe Faith111 as the same thing happened to myself. If anyone has anything to say to his case please do without sounding accusatory. 1 Like |

seyewest: errrmm....my last renewal was in 2012 and it was also collected o. If you don't need a visa to some countries I reckon the VO already knows and wouldn't really care about it because you could decide to visit the country in question tomorrow and you'd have no problems entering. GBYB: good day elder! Plz be specific, how much in Nigerian currency would be able to fund a masters degree in the Uk. plz start with ur schl. thanks cos i would love to do it over there but you know 'poor pple like us'.It's not really like that, mate. Depends on which course you're putting in for. I majored in Chemical Engineering in my UG and doing Pet n Gas PG now. The normal range is usually between £10k-£16k (budget 3-4M for tuition alone). Apart from accommodation and upkeep. and I would beg you to not think you can just come and "rough" it here. You will spend at least about another £5k (at least) on accommodation and maintenance. You really don't want to be getting notices about dues and rent expiry. These people no easy. 4.5-5M should do it. I'm being very candid |

Which of the above mentioned schools should I put in for with a 2:2?I'd like to advise you to look up these schools yourself. You really would do yourself a world of good knowing exactly what you're getting from a particular school and not just applying to any school someone conjured up for you on Nairaland. You could try the UK ones. North American schools are a waste of time when you have a 2:2 really. |
