Kunlexymoore: Guys, I need your inputs on this: My Visa was issued on the 23rd of May which means I have till November 22 this year to travel (going by the six months validity of dv visa) also corroborated (said to me) by the lady @ the collection centre. To me, that's a good one since I planned going around October after my final masters exam which holds in August and ends around middle September. It also allows me more time to prepare and flight tickets are cheaper then than summer (June-August).Still waiting for more inputs guys. |

Guys, I need your inputs on this: My Visa was issued on the 23rd of May which means I have till November 22 this year to travel (going by the six months validity of dv visa) also corroborated (said to me) by the lady @ the collection centre. To me, that's a good one since I planned going around October after my final masters exam which holds in August and ends around middle September. It also allows me more time to prepare and flight tickets are cheaper then than summer (June-August). However, the second paragraph on my 2NL (which I believe is same for everybody) reads: Applicant and family members cannot be issued a diversity visa or accompany you or join you in the United States under DV-2013 program after September 30, 2013. So what does this mean? Does it mean this supersede what I have on my visa or vice versa? Does it mean those of us getting our visas now no longer have six months to prepare? I need to clarify this so as to know the options open to me and not risk leaving after Sept 30. |
lynnexxx: @kunlexmoore how r u doing ?gracias but what if they think u will be aburden when u get tto the states.or is this out of the question? As long as u have the minimum qualification(SSCE), they cant think u'll be a burden. It means on the average, u can communicate well when u get there to be able to adapt well and be 'employable'. My wife stopped working since last year January and that was the same answer she gave when she was asked. Though she added learning of beads making and hairstyling by the side (which is true though). So if you are learning anything @ all (including buying and selling), u can also mention it. Best wishes. |
seal777: [b]Nice insight my brother. God help us all. |
nero xp: Wishin ya all a happy new month, wit lots of luv nd success...its realy a gr8 month,nd a month I was born...Wish you same Nero and happy birthday in advance. |
lynnexxx: hello house my cousin is a 2013dv winner and her interview is on a saturday. i have two question. are interviews conducted on saturday and 2 she graduated in 2011 and since then has not really been doing any thing serious.how deos she defend herself when asked what she is doing now?I think so, interviews are conducted on Sat, @ least from what Lorddom (also a member of the house) said. When asked, what is she doing now (which is a very likely question) she should be honest and say she's been looking for jobs, attending interviews and the likes. That way, they know she is not idle and @ the same time honest. Best wishes. |
lorddom: Dear furumites my interview is tommorow and i realy need your prayers. i just collected my medicals today.i dont know what tommorow holds for meIt is well my brother. Go and get the visa. We await your testimony. |
seal777: [b]WELCOME TO HOUSTON, WELCOME TO AMERICA.Seal777, you have really made my day. Nice words of encouragement for those of us coming to join you guys soonest. There are so many negative words flying around I tell you. I'm a banker. A lot of people have been telling me I should not leave my job o, there's nothing in America bla bla bla even my relatives over there in America, painting a gloomy picture of America, that things are very difficult that I'll see for myself. I think it all balls down to getting the right information. I surf the internet a lot as well as observe and ask questions too. Recently, I know a friend (a former colleague) who won the visa lottery and just spent 2yrs in America. She is presently an "Asst. Vice President" in Bank of America. Before then some people were telling me you can not get a corporate job unless you school there first but I found out from research, while it's true to an extent, it is not always so! especially when you have some experience back home. So I believe you my brother, that we should always search out the truth for ourselves and not just dwell on hear say which could be very demoralizing. Good night my peeps! |
Nice one! God bless the originator of this wonderful piece. |

Nothing really. Just commenting on the way you quote....quite different from others. No wahala. |
MUTEAU: congratsThanks |
jamicanlady: Pls I used the phrase "it is better", which means d risk of denial is low and not dat her status cannot be changed. Change of status at this stage tends to make the issuance of visa a bit risky but not that it gaurantees denial of visa. It has worked for some and it has failed others.Hi Jamaicanlady, this is not an attempt to drag issues with you or to prove a point, it is just to make things clearer to those in similar situation with the lady in question just so they will not regret not taking the chances open to them. Just like Kaypositive and Gentiger said which is my view as well, she should wait after her wedding before sending the forms (hoping she has not sent it already), I tell you her chances are bright! By the way, even though our case was a little different, some people wanted to discourage us and even blamed us that we should have applied as married even though we were singles and then backdate our wedding (just so we do not risk being denied)but we were not deterred. This is what we did (and I advise buklan4real and others in similar situation to do likewise), we went to their site read their rules and regulations thoroughly and also sent a mail to them. They responded and we documented their response in case anything like that comes up during the interview. That response was generic and did not specify when your status changed, whether before the result comes out or after. It simply read "Family members not included on the initial entry may cause the case to be disqualified. Extenuating circumstances such as; you have been married or had a child after the initial application submission may be acceptable. If you meet either of these circumstances a photocopy of the marriage and/or birth certificate...should be provided with the completed forms" What I think is very important apart from your marriage certificate and pictures are your courtship pictures. I know it is good to play safe but trust me the risk is low especially when you are honest and commit it to God's hand. Best wishes! |
ferdimako: If AIDS/HIV is being waved, what else won't be?Not so! AIDS is being waived I believe, because of its discriminatory tendencies but for some other communicable diseases like tuberculosis and syphilis, they expect that you take some dosage of treatment before migrating for obvious reasons. Ferdimako, you can go thru previous threads and see examples of people with signs of TB and Syphilis and are being asked to undergo some treatments. |
ferdimako: That's not rood boy's.Yes, it's mine. Guess it was the way Roodboy quoted my piece |
My people, I picked up our visas today barely three days after our interview! We're truly enjoying His favour and God indeed is awesome! America, here we come!!! |
genlion: Heloo house, if on the course of one medical examination, it was dis covered dat one is havin Ulcer or any other ailment, will ur interview be postpone becos of the medical treatment u might receiveIf it is ulcer, I don't think that should pose any problem but for some other ailments like tuberculosis, syphilis etc some form of delay may be experienced. |
Godhelpmeooo: Gud day house, its been awhile.na work ooooo.i mised u guys so much,i pray dat evrybody wil get d visa and we wil al make gud in d states(amen)GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!Amen. What do you do there? For those of us already working in the US, I suggest you let us know the nature of your job and how you got it. This I believe will go a long way to help those still trying to get a job there and those coming over. |
jamicanlady: Pls if u applied as single n didn't marry b4 d result came out, it is better u maintain ur status as single. You cannot include him cos that section of the form is meant for persons u included as beneficiaries in ur initial DV application. Not true! |
congrats bro' hapi for u. pls, i nid ur help. ur case is similar to mine..... i was selected, buh my spouse is not. can i include his name to d person i wld like to accompany to USA? pls, enlight on how u did urs. thanks. our wedding is coming up in july
Yes you can. However, I will advise that u do that after your wedding so u can include your marriage certificate (and change of name) in your package to KSS. He should also fill the form as well. You can send KCC a mail for further clarification. That was what we did, though in our own case, we had wedded before the result came out. Yours is still acceptable as long as you can prove that your wedding is genuine. |
Leripa: @missbelle and @kunlexymoore:Thank you Leripa. |

nero xp: @ Kunlexymoore, wow! Dis is realy great nd am very hapy 4 u nd ur wife.I personally welcome una to America, wit lots of luv nd hapy life.Tanx any way,am flattered joor...Thank you o Nero XP. Don't be flattered o, Myself and my wife read ur testimony together and we were really blessed especially the part u said your mother prayed for you and said the Windows 16 woman (or indeed anyone that would make ur interview difficult) will not show up. We keyed into it. Not only was Windows 16 shut, the elderly man that attended to us was very friendly. My brothers and sisters, truly prayer works! I believe so much in hardwork and proper preparation but prayer seals it up. Like the Bible says, 'the horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory is of the Lord!". Let's hold steadfastly to God both now and when we get there! |
monsieursam64: @kunlexymoore; congrats to you and ur family.Thank you my brother. |
If you stick to the "WORD" you will come back with a testimony. Yes that's it. Testimonies. Thank God for his mercies and favour. May that favour continue to go with you until you step into Yankee. And to your baby that brought joy to your home. Please do not forget to pray for us, cos my wife also is the principal applicant. Also never forget us, give us tips so we all come and testify.
Thank you very much my brother and I say amen!!! to your prayers. Yes o, we stuck to the word and we got the testimony. Favour truly was with us from the processing stages to the interview day and like you prayed till we get to America and even whilst there and beyond. A lot of people were happy for us while some were skeptical saying "there's nothing in America...don't leave your job o" but I trust God that His favour and mercy will see me through and stand me out over there in America. The same I pray for ALL Nairalander, especially those of us in this forum. We shall all continue to share testimonies upon testimonies in Jesus name. Feel free to ask any question my brother and by His grace we shall be able to tackle it. Go and possess yours as well IJN. Regards. |
