folaonhigh: will your medical not expire? Please travel end of october- suggestion. Affidavit of support not needed. When u get to the airport give them your new address. Other question let other contribute.
Thanks my guy.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Kunlexymoore: 5:10pm On Apr 26, 2013
Hi my people, I need your opinion on these issues as quickly as possible.
1. My wife is the principal applicant. My International Passport will expire on the 23rd of December. My interview is on the 21st of May but I intend travelling first week in November (before the six month lapsed). However, going by the information on the US website Passport(s) valid for six months beyond the intended date of entry into the U.S. for you and each family member applying for a visa. , do you advise I get another passport before my interview because obviously my passport will not be valid six month after I entered the US as stipulated on the website. But the problem is I cannot renew my passport now because renewal is done six months or less to expiry date. So what do I do?
2. My host has moved from the address he gave me earlier when filling the forms sent to KCC. He's now somewhere else but within the same city (Greensboro, North Carolina). Do I need to inform the embassy on the change of address?
3. Do we need affidavit of support from our host?

Thanking you (in advance) for your prompt response.

temmytanny: sincerely Adesoji,i dont think there is fight anywhere. If someone makes mistake let him admit and apologise,if anyone misinform the house let him correct himself and admit. We should stop dropping half baked stories here,it affect the possibility of some people getting their visa.Lets get our facts right before posting and if you arent sure, let people know.READ MY RECENT POSTS VERY WELL,AM NOT FIGHTING ANY ONE BUT TRYING COUNTER FALSE CLAIMS
Temmytanny, sincerely speaking I like ur short but rich and useful contributions on this thread but this statement u just made is capable of drawing us back again after what Adesoji has said (made peace). We are not interested in knowing if there was any false claim or not. We are all expected to verify any information we get from this forum, contributors are only dropping their opinions (no matter how it came across). So please I would like us to STOP referring to those past issues and let's move on.

sozen2010: Thank you Chike, You mean my GCE notifications for 1999 & 2001 plus unscratched cards will suffice for this. I trust God but somebody just shared testimony yesterday that he was rejected because the CO didn't think the cerficate real despite the fact that he checked it online. What do you see to this, my boss has refused me travel and now SSCE exam is in progress, what is your suggestion house?
I still advise that you get your certificate to avoid the avoidable! I believe your certificate for the basic requirement (SSCE/NECO) is very key, especially when your exam was done @ least five years ago. Notification letter for other qualifications may still be acceptable....My opinion!

All glory to God. A quick one: Is it possible for every nairaland member especially on this thread, to itemise our information the way you have done it?; 1NL, forms sent to KCC,2NL date, date of interview, visa pick up, date of departure etc just as its being done on other similar threads online. This will make for quick reference especially for new comers and reduce unnecessary agitations from those who are waiting to be current and also reduce the number of questions people ask. As much as I like Nairaland, this is what I still find missing here. Is it possible to do this on nairaland? If it's possible, let's do it! Contributions are welcome. Thanks.

remkay2012: Hello Nairalander, our 2NL was supposed be release for the month of March hoping to do our interview in May but we are still awaiting the letter now we are waiting for June now and my wife (Principal Applicant) may deliver in the same month. What will happen if 1.She deliver the same week of interview. 2) Second week of delivery. 3)A week before interview or exactly before interview?
You can send them a mail or call them and the interview will likely be postponed (If she delivers same week or on the day of interview). A friend of mine had a similar experience two years ago.

Gentiger: Gentiger is back, fully reloaded and better informed. I have scouted around various agencies here and can guide all better. As time goes on, I'll show new immigrants how to settle down faster and get a job at the snap of the fingers. I also hope to open your eyes to the enormous business opportunities in the States. If you want to go back to school, I'll show you how without paying a penny in school fees. If you want to marry, no wahala, babes dey.

For those seeking entry visas, the guys in the house are doing a great job, which is why some of us are silent. If It's too difficult to handle, reach out and help will be on the way. I have to go back to work now. My boss is looking at me through surveillance cameras as I perform my duty hourly. Love you all. Have a great week ahead.
You've started working, that's great! What's the nature of the job and hw did u get it?
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Kunlexymoore: 10:37am On Apr 09, 2013
....including the challenges. Thanks.
TravelRe: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by Kunlexymoore: 10:36am On Apr 09, 2013
Gentiger: Let's start with work.....this is a Very important area for new immigrants like myself. There's little or nothing you can do here without a certification or a form of licence. That include pushing a wheel barrow. America is a society that believes in professionalism and rewards hard work.

Applying for job online will keep you at come for a Very long time. Submitting CV's without evidence of American certification will keep you on the waiting queue, prompting schools who view your CV to start calling you to obtain a certification and become employable.

If you want to do security jobs, that is the most abundant job here. America is security conscious. It's the cheapest training to get and it costs less than $300. After the initial 5 days training, you are given a guard card which is your licence to work as a security official. With this you earn between $9-$12 hourly. If you want to earn more, go for more training, usually for 3 weeks and obtain your gun, baton, hand-cuff and pepper spray permits. With this you earn between $16-$20 hourly.

Just Google security training centers and take off from there if you like this career path for a start. I will tell you more on nursing, teaching, driving, schooling, etcetera. Digest this first. Love you all.
Hi Gentiger, thanks for the piece. I think I'll be needing more info on teaching. How to go about it and hw rewarding it is. Thank you.

junkerhill: I know most times our curiosity will like to surface in everything that we are doing. It won't let us be till it is satisfied. There is nothing wrong in knowing how long it takes to get GC and SSN. But I still believe knowing it now won't change anything because you can't apply for it here. Your host will answer all your questions the instant you get to his house. Wish you luck as you transcend to a greater height.
I dont see anything wrong in wanting to know before you travel. It is called planning ahead!People seek to know such information for several reasons:

1.U may just want to report to America for now and come back to Naija before finally resigning from your place of work (within 6months),
2.Some also need this information if they already have a job offer before travelling(like Gentiger)

3.Some need to strategise vis a vis the money they are taking with them to know how soon they can start working so as not to be a burden to their hosts

4. Some hosts may not even be as informed as some of us here (e.g Temmytammy, adesojiaderemi etc) especially when u think of the fact that some of these processes have been reviewed recently e.g GC use to come out in 6months some years back.
Good day House,
To God be the Glory! Interview appointment was 10am today and it was successful; After going through all security checks and making necessary payments, we were called at window 20 to submit only 1 passport photograph, 1 photocopy and original of only birth certificates for 5 of us and marriage certificate. The guy at window 20 never even demanded for our academic credentials, and we wondered why?
We waited until our ticket number beeped!
CO: Good afternoon
US: Good afternoon
CO: How are you?
US: We are fine thank you, and you? He replied: very good
CO: Please do your thumb prints on the machine - we both did that
CO: Please raise your right hands and promise to .....
CO: To my wife, you are the principal applicant..... my wife answered yes
US: We remained standing with the kids for the interview. I was not asked to go and sit down with the kids

INTERVIEW PROPER
CO: What's is your highest educational qualification
My wife: Answered
CO: Do you have any document for this
My wife: She presents Original and 1 photocopy
CO: Do you have WAEC?
My wife: Yes, and presents her Original WAEC and 1 photocopy
CO: Everything is good, pulls out white paper and hands over to us!

To all members of this great forum, we remain eternally grateful. God bless you in your dreams!

Note: We had 2 birth certificates; the NPC, and the normal birth certificate for myself and my wife. The man at windows 20 looked at both, but choose the NPC. He remarked : your NPC certificate is a certified one (authenticated), and I said yes.
We prepared so hard; asked ourselves questions and even carried 2 big albums for courtship, introduction and wedding, but CO never asked us to present any album and only asked us 2 questions during the interview proper as highlighted above. We can clearly see God's favor and hands in our interview.
GENERAL ADVICE TO ALL: Please, let's not forget our God when we get to the U.S. When things are rosy, let's learn to hold on to God at such times more than when we encounter problems.
Thanks my guy. This is truly God's favour. I tap into this favour o. Best wishes as u travel with your family and thanks for the info on the police guy you supplied ealier on.

loveshowgirl1: Hello housen I want to thank you all for your prayers for it worked for me and I am very much grateful to God and you all.
I got to the embassy, at about 5:10am and waited till they called in 6.30 non-immigrant and 7.00am immigrant visas and did the normal process of document submission and got in to pay my visa fee and then I sat waiting on my number to be called.
To be honest I cannot remember the window I was called to after a couple of hours but behold it was this cute and nice gentleman that the lord sent and he started with the interview.
CO: Are you Ata......
ME: I mmediately completed my name for him and he smiled.
CO: Please sign your DSP form, did the oath taking and finger print stuff...
ME: Did all required.
CO: what's your highest qualification?
ME: BA ........
CO: What year did you finish?
ME: Told him the exact year while he was going thru as I answered each question.
CO: What have you been doing Since you graduated?
ME: Told him, couldn't get a job so I worked with my mum and eventually opened a boutique, made him understand I wore pretty much what I sell so he smiled.
CO: Have you served the NYSC?
ME: Yes I have and told him what year.
CO: What was your primary assignment about?
ME: Told him was secretary to the local government between my year of service and my duties and he smiled as usual.
CO: I will give you ur visas, brings out 2 forms circles one part for visa collection and the other for USCIS payment.
ME: Thank you.
It was not what I prepared for but what I expected and prayed for. So guys I wanna say a big thank you to you all @Spoondar, Nero XP, Gny Kelly, Remyjay, Femo, Psatadi, Remmy, Doctor, Gentiger, and all of una, really una too many to name, abeg make una nor vex but those I didn't name don't be offended I remember you all and love u guys. simayanki4real: The 5 of them applied for immigrant visa.
1) Two couples were denied for failure to prove that they had a sound relationship together.
2) A set of kids 2boys (Not DV selectees) were placed on A.P because they could not prove their relationship with their dad.
3) A guy was disqualified because the resident country in his inital EDV was Northern Ireland, and since he has never been there...was disqualified without interview.
4) A married woman was disqualified because she is married with two (2) kids but entered the EDV as single, & the forms sent to KCC as single. According to the CO, the DV rules states a married person must leave with his/her family members...so she was disqualified
5) A lady was disqualified (though not a DV selectee) for not being able to prove her relationship with her host.

Please married couples should go with enough pictures, and rehearse with your spouse everything about your marriage, dates, times & people in your photos. I noticed that married couples are scrutinized seriously, they have the longest interviews. Please prepare very well & the visa is yours!
Hmmmn.... Good observation (at least for us to learn more). Good preparation cannot be over emphasised, especially for married couples. More importantly, we trust God for His favour and we will testify on this platform as well. Thank you for the info..
