The party announced the shift in a statement today.
It urged all duly registered party members to collect their permanent membership cards from their respective wards.
It was the second time in one week that the party would alter its primary election timetable.
Last week, the organising secretary Emma Ibediro announced a revised timetable for the conduct of all the party’s primaries ahead of February 2019 general elections, as approved by the National Working Committee.
The 2018 primaries would be held as follows:
Governorship Primaries – September 29, 2018.

Senate Primaries – October 2, 2018.

House of Representatives Primaries – October 3, 2018.

State House of Assembly Primaries – October 4, 2018.

Presidential National Convention – October 6, 2018.

PoliticsNational Assembly Shifts Resumption By Two Weeks by kurt09(op): 9:45pm On Sep 23, 2018
The national assembly has postponed its resumption from September 25 to resume October 9.

Mohammed Sani-Omolori, clerk of the assembly, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He attributed the development to the primary elections of political parties.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have scheduled their primaries within the next two weeks.

Sani-Omolori said members of the assembly were expected to resume by 10am on the new date.

“This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable Members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 25th September has been postponed to Tuesday 9th October due to the activities of the primaries of the political parties,” the statement read.

“All distinguished senators and honourable members are expected to resume plenary session by 10 am on the 9th of October, please.”

The request of the approval of N242 billion by President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 polls and the passage of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) amendment bill are some of the matters pending at the national assembly.

Lawmakers loyal to Buhari have accused Senate President Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, of refusing to reconvene the assembly for a selfish reason.

Abia has a huge potential to emerge as a frontier state if only it'd governors can think outside the box. Aba alone has immense potentials, the exact type that made China and the Asian Tigers to become prosperous. The governors should reposition the international markets within the city, improve infrastructure in the city's many industrial estates, allow Geometric power to supply non stop electricity to homes, markets and industries. Improve on the sanitation and roads etc and watch how Enyimba city will rise to become a great city.
You're right.

SportsRe: Alvaro Morata Makes Bold Statement About Leaving Chelsea by kurt09(m): 12:21pm On Aug 21, 2018
googlelove:
Alvaro Morata have reaffirmed his commitment to remain at Chelsea football club, while stating that he need pushed for a departure. Morata who bare scored 2 goals in the second half Chelsea’s 2017/2018 season was earlier linked with a move away from the London club with Spain and Italy as his likely destination.

The Spaniard after a long spell of drought in front goal recovered his scoring boots against Arsenal in the 3-2 victory last weekend.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid player is believed to be ready to improve under Maurizio Sarri. “There was never a thought for me to leave. For me, it's easy. I could have gone back to Spain or Italy, all the people believe in me there but I want to change all the things here,” Morata said. “I want to, not for all the haters, but for me and for Chelsea”. “I am looking forward to buying a house and I can't wait for the babies to grow up to put them into school,” Morata added. “I am very happy and it's just the beginning of the new season. Why would I not be happy? I want to change all the thinking from the people who say I'm not”. “It's the only reason I stay here, otherwise if Chelsea said you are not in our plans, I move”.

He continued: “The most important thing is the way we play. Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my best quality. Now I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go in the area for the crosses. It's better for me”.

The Federal Government has insisted that it did not pay any ransom to secure the release of the Dapchi girls.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, challenged anyone who has any evidence of payment to publish such.

”It is not enough to say that Nigeria paid a ransom, little or huge. There must be a conclusive evidence to support such claim. Without that, the claim remains what it is: a mere conjecture,” the Minister said

seunmsg:
I reason with them. It's so hard for many states at the moment to pay 18k minimum wage and labour is now advocating for 56k. How will they cope?

In my opinion, the principle of federalism that we all like talking about should be applied. Each states should be allowed to determine whatever it has the capacity to pay based on negotiations with state chapters of organized labour. If we are to wait till all states concur to the proposed new minimum wage, we may have to wait till eternity. NLC and TUC should conclude negotiations with federal government and let implementation start at the federal level.
You're wrong. They should adopt Anambra model initiated by Peter Obi. Most of the governors have over 3000 aides
Politics2019: Reps Frown At Duplications In INEC Budget by kurt09(op): 8:23pm On Aug 16, 2018
The committee chaired by Aishatu Dukku (APC-Gombe) sat on Wednesday to consider approval of funds for INEC to enable the commission prepare for the 2019 elections.

The lawmakers observed that most of the subheads captured in the N189.2 billion proposal were contained in the N45.5 billion first line charge budget approved for INEC in the recently signed 2018 budget that is currently running.

The total sum of N45.5 billion proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari in the budget was approved by the National Assembly.

In her remarks at the sitting, Mrs. Dukku said the House would support issues that will strengthen the nation’s electoral process and aid INEC in discharging its functions.

“It is only by so doing that one can begin to unravel the intricacies of the entire range of issues involved and their inter-connection,” she said.

“You will agree with me that for a government that promised change to its people, the foundation of this change ought to be evident in the way we plan our elections and electoral processes.”

Mrs Dukku stressed that estimates should represent a true picture of the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

She expressed concerns over INEC’s previous budgets, saying they were neither productive nor ineffective because of poor planning.

“It is our prayer and hope that the present administration would address the issues with budgeting especially as regards to funding unlike the previous budgets that were not productive in the entire planning of elections.”

The committee went further to question the N28.6 billion proposed as honoraria for 2,763,990 ad-hoc staff for the 2019 general elections.

From the N2.916 billion proposed for Registration Area Centres (RAC) preparation for the general elections, INEC proposed N56.6 million for operation kite for 2,000 tents, N123.5 million for an unstated number of megaphones, N6 billion for unspecified number of sleeping mats and N232.8 million for unspecified number of tactical torch lights.

The committee upon deliberation will prepare its reports and lay it before the House whenever it reconvenes.

PoliticsRe: Apc's Direct Primary:: Reason Why Tinubu Was Excited by kurt09(m): 3:53pm On Aug 16, 2018
Ekitimadman:
Since the approval of direct primary by Acting President Osinbajo, only tinubu expressed his happiness while state governors did not make a comment. To my surprise, I don't see any nairalanders talking about it. That shows most people on here are either supporting or againsting politicians.

Few minutes ago, I read a news where Yahaya Bello directed all political appointees contesting in next General election to resign. Yet, no one ask why this sudden decision.

Approval of Acting President Osinbajo to direct primary shows that party structure in states has become useless. I don't think any sitting governor in Nigeria has ever lose primary election for 2nd term. Why? Because state governor has structure that select delegates.

Tinubu lost Ondo to Akeredolu and Kogi to Yahaya Bello just because of former APC chairman Oyegun. If indirect primary should continue, that shows Tinubu will never have control over Ondo and Kogi for awhile (including 2019) cause Bello and Akeredolu has the state party structure.

Who is the winner and loser here?? As it stands, I don't see Akeredolu and Yahaya Bello flying APC gubernatorial flag comes 2019. And the winner here is TINUBU.

Any comment?
Former governor of Anambra lost primary election in 2003.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan Secured Release Of Many Chibok Girls — Abati by kurt09(m): 12:21pm On Aug 16, 2018
JosEast:
Former President Goodluck Jonathan secured the release of some Chibok girls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram but decided not to publicise it.

The former media aide to Jonathan disclosed this on Wednesday during a show he anchored on ARISE TV.

He interviewed Femi Adesina, spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, on the show.

He said Sambo Dasuki, the then national security adviser (NSA), advised the government against making the release public in order to protect the identities of the freed girls.

He said: “There was headway. We rescued many of the girls but the advice from the NSA at the time was that we should not publicise it because of the identities of those girls. I witnessed it on many occasions. Those girls were brought to the president.

“He met with them. In fact, some of them were sent to schools in the United States and United Kingdom. There were strict instructions not to publicise it because government thought that the identities of those girls should not be exposed. But l saw you guys making a dance out of the ones you rescued.

“In our time, we rescued some girls but we were under strict instruction not to publicise it. Check the records. The DSS, the intelligence agency, you should ask them. They will have the records.”

Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped 276 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, in Borno state on April 14, 2014.

While 163 of the girls have been returned, over 100 are believed to be in the custody of the terrorist group with some thought to be dead.
