Minister of Environment Mrs Amina Mohammed yesterday took to her twitter to thank all those who made Ogoni clean up launch successful by turning up to perform at the event, revealing that vocal artist, Timi Dakolo rejected their offer to perform at the Ogoni clean up launch.

Going the the fact that Oginiland has Ijaws in it and the occasion was for the good of his people, what could have made him reject the offer, or did he also get scared because of the threat on the President's life?

The war going on between singer Runtown and his record label Eric Many seems to have taken another bad turn, just when one thought the artist and the record label management will seat down like adults and resolve whatever differences they have, its gets taken to a more damaging level. The statement below was sent to media as regards the rift going on between Runtown and Eric Many Records.

On Friday June 3, 2016, Lydia Obasis Hills, Esq., a first-rate New York litigator and entertainment lawyer, secured a temporary injunction, on behalf of Eric Many, Ltd., in the Eastern District of New York against Runtown and his manager, Bugu Aneto Okeke, barring all U.S. performances and appearances by the Nigerian pop star. According to Ms. Obasi Hills, she hopes "Runtown's injunction sends a message to Nigerian artists that it's important to respect the sanctity of contracts, and to work with their labels who often invest large sums into promoting their careers."
Runtown sought to breach his contract with EricMany, Ltd., to which he was the sole artist on the label. Ms. Obasi Hills argued before United States District Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto, who found that "Nigerian music is on the verge of crossing over into North American popular music and that the "totality of potential losses that EricMany will likely face from Runtown's actions are incalculable."

Judge Matsumoto found that a "Nigerian court issued an interim injunction dated May 20, 2016, that enjoins Runtown" and that it "will be virtually impossible to quantify the losses that EricMany will suffer if it is not affiliated with Runtown during this critical time for Nigerian music." Ms. Obasi Hills presented evidence to the Court that Runtown was not only in breach of his record contract, but was also planning a U.S. tour, titled "Ghetto University USA Tour," without the consent of his label, which would have been in violation of the May 20, 2016 Lagos Federal High Court injunction.

Ms. Obasi Hills also presented evidence that Runtown was making false and malicious defamatory statements against EricMany and its CEO, Prince Okwudili Umenyiora. Judge Matsumoto ultimately entered an Order restraining and enjoining Douglas Jack Agu (“Runtown”), Bugu Aneto Okeke, Bug Media Limited, and Bug Entertainment and Media Limited, from "singing, appearing, hosting, performing, promoting, arranging, facilitating, scheduling, advertising or permitting the performance of Douglas Jack Agu "Runtown" at any venue on or after June 3, 2016."

According to Ms. Obasi Hills, "EricMany's victory is a victory for all Nigerian record labels, which sends a clear message to all artists that a record deal is a binding agreement. It's wrong for an artist to reap the benefits that signing to a label provides, only to leave thereafter to the detriment of the label, and after the artist has achieved fame and success in large part due to the label's investments in the artist's career. EricMany has invested over $600,000.00 USD into Runtown’s career and has yet to re-coup the totality of its investment.

While the media has been aflame with rumors that Runtown has left EricMany, the hope is that Runtown and EricMany will be able to settle their differences and enter into a new record contract, leaving the past in the past.

EricMany undoubtedly wants Runtown to excel, shine and break barriers in the Nigerian and American music industry. However, things have to be done the right way - with professionalism and mutual respect." Ms. Obasi Hills, EricMany's U.S. counsel, is also the founder of the Nigerian American Entertainment Alliance and currently serves as Vice President of the Nigerian Lawyers Association - the National Voice of the Nigerian U.S. Legal Community.

Immediately daddy saw it has generated into a mini riot, one of their Alhaji's drew mummy into his office addressing the crowd that they should calm down and protocols will be followed which they refused and were stoning things at the man in his office.

When they prevailed, they dragged her and her husband. When daddy was sitting down, he was looking at the way they were hitting mummy on her head with iron rods and sticks but he dared not say anyhing if not he will be lynched too. Mummy's blood was splashing on daddys body as they kept hitting her. Eventually she died.

Then the police came to disperse the crowd and took her body to the mortuary.. As of yesterday, her corpse was lying at Aminu Kano teaching hospital but was to be transferred to a more secured hospital cos the Muslims were saying that they wanted to smuggle into the hospital to get her body then behead her cos that's their punishment for blasphemy..

Mummy was not beheaded she was beaten and stonned to death.

Finally, the Federal Government has released the interim report on funds and assets recovered from individuals who looted the nation’s treasury.

According to a statement from the office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the total cash recoveries comes to the sum of seventy eight point three billion Naira; one hundred and eight five million point one US Dollars, three point five million Pounds, and eleven thousand Euros, from 29 May 2015 to 25 May 2016.

This comes after the Federal Government failed to publish the list of individuals and the amount stolen on May 29, as earlier promised.

The Federal Government made cash recoveries totaling N78,325,354,631.82 (Seventy eight billion, three hundred and twenty-five million, three hundred and fifty-four thousand, six hundred and thirty one Naira and eighty two kobo); $185,119,584.61 (One hundred and eight five million, one hundred and nineteen thousand, five hundred and eighty four US Dollars, sixty one cents); 3,508,355.46 Pounds Sterling (Three million, five hundred and eight thousand, three hundred and fifty-five Pounds and 46 Pence) and 11, 250 Euros (Eleven thousand, two hundred and fifty Euros) from 29 May 2015 to 25 May 2016.

In a statement in Lagos on Saturday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, also disclosed that Recoveries Under Interim Forfeiture (cash and assets) during the period totaled N126,563,481,095.43 (One hundred and twenty six billion, five hundred and sixty three million, four hundred and eighty one thousand, and ninety five Naira, forty three Kobo; $9,090,243,920.15 (Nine billion, ninety million, two hundred and forty three thousand, nine hundred and twenty Dollars, fifteen cents; 2,484,447.55 Pounds Sterling (Two million, four hundred and eighty four thousand, four hundred and forty seven Pounds, fifty five Pence) and 303,399.17 Euros (Three hundred and three thousand, three hundred and ninety-nine Euros, 17 cents).

According to the statement, which is based on the interim report on the financial and assets recoveries made by the various government agencies from 29 May 2015 to 25 May 2016, the Funds Awaiting Return From Foreign Jurisdictions total $321,316,726.1 (Three hundred and twenty one million, three hundred and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and twenty six Dollars, one cent); 6,900,000 Pounds (Six million, nine hundred thousand Pounds) and 11,826.11 Euros (Eleven thousand, eight hundred and twenty six Euros, 11 cents).
It showed that Non-Cash Recoveries (Farmlands, Plots of Land, Uncompleted Buildings, Completed Buildings, Vehicles and Maritime Vessels) during the period total 239.

Yea, this is same in almost all the Universities in Nigeria. Staring at this picture took me down memory lane of those days in one of the best Federal Universities in the east (So, they said Though), during GS classes or any combined course class, you get a worse picture than this, students sit, stand and hang on any thing that has the potentials of carrying their weights just to be able to hear what the lecturer is saying, most times, you really do not even get a jack of what the lecturer taught, but you are happy to be in class and write down your name on the attendance list, you never can tell when something will spark in the lecturer head

President Buhari is set to come to Lagos on Monday May 23rd, a visit which will be his first official visit since he assumed office as the President of the nation and its in the light of the occasion that the Lagos state government has issued a notice to the residents of the state on traffic diversions.Read the press statement below..

The Lagos State Government will formally welcome President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 23, 2016 on a two-day working visit to the State. It will be President Buhari's first official visit to the state since he assumed office about a year ago.
A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, stated that this is the first time in about 15years that a sitting President will be visiting the State on a working visit and is a testimony to the landmark achievements in the last one year of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as well as the good working relationship between Lagos State and the Federal Government.

Ayorinde added that President Buhari during the visit, would formally commission the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Rescue Unit in Cappa Oshodi built by the State Government to ensure prompt and swift response to emergency situations in the State.
He said the President would thereafter commission the newly constructed Ago Palace Way in Okota, Isolo after which he will pay homage to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Rilwanu Aremu Akiolu at the Iga Iduganran, Lagos Island.
The Commissioner disclosed further that the President would later in the day be hosted to a reception rally by the State Government at the Tafawa Balewa Square, (TBS) Lagos where he will also commission and hand over security equipment and vehicles contributed by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration to securities agencies to beef up security in the state.
The release added that activities for the first day of the President’s visit would be rounded up with a State Banquet in his honour at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
The President will on Tuesday participate as the Special Guest of Honour at a breakfast session with Corporate Lagos to be hosted by Governor Ambode at the Lagos State House, Marina, after which he will have a short session with the public service at the State House, Alausa-Ikeja.

The Commissioner quoted Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as being joyous over this landmark presidential visit to the State that contributed so much to his emergence as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He added that Lagosians are looking forward with excitement to receive the President in the State, just as he urged residents to bear with law enforcement agents and traffic control authorities who will effect road diversions in some of the routes that the President motorcade will pass through during the visit.
