Blockchain is an online wallet, not safe. The safest wallet to store bitcoin is in hardware wallet because only you has the private key. I store my btc securely in a hardware wallet and I carry it around sometimes. Specifically, I use Ledger Nano S and even if I misplace the hardware, I can simply buy another Ledger and restore my btc with my private key which I stored in many places.

probably the exchange where you stored your btc was hacked. More reason why it’s not advisable to store btc on any exchange.

Lol, it's all about covering your tracks well. The email he used was a fake email but he foolishly linked it to an iCloud account that contained his phone no., address and several of his photos and documents which Apple gladly gave the FBI.

There doesn't even have to be any link between your fake mail and real accounts. Just using your fake mail regularly in a device that you've linked your personal details to JUST ONCE, is enough to nab you.

As long as you will need cash to buy Bitcoin or exchange Bitcoin to cash or goods and services, you must leave a trail for the FBI to catch you if they want to. The FBI will never allow any fraudulent monetary form of exchange to exist anywhere in the world. If the FBI didn't think Bitcoin was traceable, they would have shut Bitcoin down just like they shut Liberty Reserve down. Don't come with the story of Bitcoin is decentralized, that is a story to fool criminals and money launderers so they can be easily apprehended when they put their money in cryptocurrency.

They didn’t decrypt it, just run The btc address on a btc explorer and you see all the transactions. I just did now and funds are still there except the ones he had already moved elsewhere.
