atheistandproud: For Smartphones, The System on a Chip is also called a processor. This is different from what you have on a PC or Mainframe.
The individual CPUs that make up the SoC are the cores. Read initially with PCs in mind. But when you talk about processors on smartphones, where will you place snapdragons, Apple processors and the rest? Because I didn’t see where you mention that. |
Phones › Re: Dual Core, Quad Core, Octa Core. What Do They Mean? by Laboni: 4:39pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
MATURELION: People reading this should know CPU in laptops are totally different from CPU in phones don't mind the 2.5ghz phones can't achieve those speeds in real time infact due to many things like heat, battery and size of mobile devices they run on an architecture called soc which is where ARM comes in, and they are very low powered (don't draw enough watts) to match power requirements of laptops ... just note that Thank you because I read this having computer system in mind and couldn’t make sense from it and was about insulting him not until after reading reading it again, I found it he is focused on mobile phones. Processors in Systems is a whole different game. |
Phones › Re: Dual Core, Quad Core, Octa Core. What Do They Mean? by Laboni: 4:31pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
atheistandproud: The processor or SoC (System on a chip) of a Smartphone can be thought of as the brain of that smartphone.
This processor contains several things. The most important of which are CPUs.
A CPU or Central Processing Unit is responsible for carrying out the tasks and managing the functions of your Smartphone computer.
Your Processor in your Smartphone may contain several CPUs.
Each of this CPUs inside the SoC are referred to as a CORE.
If a processor has:
1 CPU, it's called a Single Core processor
2 CPUs, it's called a Dual Core processor
4 CPUs, it's called a Quad Core processor
6 CPUs, it's called a Hexa Core processor
8 CPUs, it's called a Octa Core processor
10 CPUs, it's called a Deca Core processor
Types of CPUs for Smartphones (Android)
The main company that designs CPUs for all androids is called ARM.
They then sell their design to SoC retailers/manufacturers who then use the design by ARM to build their own Unique CPU.
There are two types of CPUs widely in use in the market now to build SoCs. They are:
1. The ARM cortex A50 series which are used for only light tasks such as making calls, scrolling through FB, WhatsApp chatting, reading an eBook etc. The A50 series consists of A53, A55 and A57
The exception here is the A57 core which is a powerful core used for heavy tasks. It is the predecessor of the A70 Series. (thank you @Naijasensei)
2. The ARM cortex A70 series which are used for heavy tasks like HD gaming, Video calls, Screen casting etc. The A70 series consists of A72, A73, A75, A76, A77
A77 is the best currently in the market.
A few questions people may want to ask...
1. Do more Cores equal a better performance? Well yes and no.
Yes because more CPU helps share the load of processing data and outputs the results faster making apps feel smoother and run faster.
No. Because sometimes more CPU cores isn't necessarily the answer. A Quad core A76/A55 CPU set will outperform an Octa core A57 set by far.
Then there's also optimization. This is when apps and tasks are tailor made to run smoothly on CPUs. This is why a Quad core iPhone may completely destroy an Octa-core midrange android device.
This answer to this question relies on you the individual looking at the CPU spec sheet as well as clock speed.
2. If two CPU cores are compared, is the one with the faster clock speed the best?
Well yes and no again.
Yes, if the two CPUs are of the same architecture e.g A72 Vs A72. They are both equal in every way so the only way to set them apart is the clock speed.
No. If the two CPUs are of different architectures e.g A73 Vs A76. If you like, dash the A73 a clock speed of 2.5GHz, an A76 of 2.0GHz will stroll pass it on a speedtest like Usain Bolt.
For any other question, please comment and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.
Cheers. I think you’re mixing things up.. The CPU contains several cores (processors) and not the Processor contains CPU, you may have to correct that. Aside that, nice article. |

Mrkcee: There is a clear difference between the Guber and Presidencial elections.
How can a man who has never won his ward win a governorship election with a party that has always been in opposition? Contesting as a newbie in 2016 is different to contesting as an incumbent now. Besides his ward has always been a PDP stronghold so maybe that’s why he didn’t win there. Edo election can go sideways, nobody is sure of victory 100%. |

Mrkcee: Sure! But then what's the need of winning and election and then loosing in court to an opponent before inauguration. Remember the Bayelsa (David Lyon) incidence? In Obaseki's case, PDP can't win Edo. Let's even imagine PDP wins, they'll loose in court to another party before inauguration owning to Obaseki's Fake certificate saga. And of course APC will use every Federal might to ensure APC wins! Obaseki’s certificates has been challenged in court upto Supreme Court I think I’m 2016 by PDP and he won so, I don’t see that as issue now. Besides, I thought that UI came out to clear the air about the certificate in question that it is authentic? ... Let PDP try and win first then slug it out in court. |
Politics › Re: Obaseki's PDP Card Is Ready - Edo PDP Chairman by Laboni: 10:53am On Jun 18, 2020 |
Mrkcee: Recall that during the last Edo election, Obaseki won owning to the huge votes returned by Oshiomhole in his wards and LGA; he Obaseki lost even in his ward and LGA. Also recall that Edo state is an APC state, plus the certificate saga trailing Obaseki (which other parties will use against him assuming he eventually wins the second term in another platform); even PDP has been in the court for this same matter.
Now, having falling apart with his principal (Oshiomhole) and party APC, how do you think he ( Obaseki) will go far? Tell me! With Governor Obaseki as her flag bearer, PDP has a higher chance of winning than fielding any other candidate. |

InvertedHammer: / They told you that it was excluded because of insecurity? Which road is secure? You already know there will be 2nd phase even when they didn't mention it? Am I surprised? No. Hitler, Abacha, Idi Amin had people who cheered their bad policies. I am surprised that all of a sudden some of you are starting to believe APC government that have never fulfilled a single promise since they started. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. FGN is never honest. / You just have to be optimistic and besides, the best way for the country to have a road network in very good condition is to get the private sectors involved. We’ve trying the government since 1960 and we’re still where we are today so, nothing wrong in trying the private sector to see how it goes. So many federal roads are in deplorable conditions all over the country and I’m certain motorists won’t mind paying a token as long as the roads are in good condition. |

Yampotatocarrot: On what basis is the roads to be rolled being determined? (That's the point he is trying to make)
Are they tolling based on number of users or length of the road? The distance from Onitsha to Aba isn't up to half of the road inside Niger state alone (I stand to be corrected), so which one deserves to have more toll?
I used that as an example, so you'll understand the point being made. Thanks I think the determination is based on many factors like 1) distance, 2) How busy the road is, 3) State of the road, 3) Economic importance, etc.. The most important thing is to put the road in good condition. If the road will be good when manager by private investors, then I don’t see anything wrong with that. We have been trying Government since 1960 and we’re still here so, let’s try the private sector and see how it goes. |

InvertedHammer: / Total scam alert!
Abuja-Akwanga (Middle Belt) Kaduna-Kano (North) Kano-Maiduguri(North)
Every other toll road there will affect Igbo and SS people the most. From Abuja to Maiduguri (very far by the way) pays 2 toll fares or zero if they do FCT-Kaduna-Maiduguri. From Abuja to PH will be 3 or 4 toll fares. Besides, the road like Benin-Sagamu is the anticipated moneymaker and that's why it is highlighted in the caption.
How come there is no toll from Abuja - Kaduna?
/ How is the toll affecting SE and SS? The idea is just for good road network. I think Abuja-Kaduna was excluded for now because of insecurity. They will still add more in the 2nd phase, who knows. They should also add Enugu-Awka-Onitsha too. The road was nothing to write home about the last time I passed there. |

DanRay1: Web dev is saturated and watered down. Unless you are really good at what you do, and you work for top clients, then you'd be competing with all these bootcamp interns and copy and paste Indians.
In the 2000s, web devs made a lot of bucks just designing a HTML CSS static page. Not anymore.
Anyway, to the question. I'd say it depends on the project. But a project as basic as three pages of static website should be pegged at 200k. 3 pages of static website for 200k say wetin happen? Where guys are collecting as low as 80-100k for a dynamic website of 6 pages or more with database. The truth is as a web developer, you have to be very versatile and fluent with different programming languages to earn a mega buck. |

lekki1444: yes i believe karma or fate or destiny is subject to the operation of your mental control in past life but in this life it is locked in and i believe that imagination begets events but that is not you doing the imagination, that is your spirit syncing with the events of the akashic records and so those events were on the cards. the events have nothing to do with your will. they were already programmed to happen but you may have accessed it before it happened and then you may think it is your imagination that made it happen.
Nothing happens by the power of there own, i know this to be a fact. ANd yes all events are coordinated and programmed by the supercomputer which is the akaschic records. Just like the Christians believe that everything that happens in life is the will of God. That God designed it to happen even before the creation. |

Hmm I think so, God the father is the Chief Creator and when he said “Let us make man in our own image and likeness”, he was talking to the other Gods which formed the trinity, that is God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. KosiGee: Thanks for this post. This man wants to trend with Fashek’s death. He was on drugs and if he was seeing something, it was because he was probably hallucinating.
...what’s wrong with Dede Mabiaku?? Dude is one over zealous and fanatical Fela’s fan. He needs to calm his silly head down. Majek calling Fela and Bob Marley his boys was just an innocuous expression. It’s same as saying Dre is my nigga, Wizzy is my boy, Phyno is my aroba.
As for Mcroy, I’ve never heard of him or any of his songs. He simply wasn’t talented enough. Blackface might say the same things if God forbid it something happens to Tuface.
You simply can’t hide talent, you might misuse it, it might take a long time to manifest but it all comes from God not from Maharaji stuffs. You are born with it and every bits and pieces that fall into place to create a genius would’ve come from the parents.
Uche Chukwumerijes children inherited bits and pieces from him and his calm and beautiful souled wife, Osadebe inherited his skills from his parents, Check Bovi, A.Y., Basketmouth...these guys parents would be very funny or their grand parents would’ve been funny. Kanu and Okocha’s children might not have their football skills but the gene or the molecule responsible for their football success would Ibe day manifest and we shouldn’t be surprised.
I digress....Majek Fashek was successful because heaven gifted him with his music skills...just like Bob Marley and the Wailers, Mashek has the voice, talent, look and personality which producers and fans alike look for. If you took your time to read the OP, you will know that this interview was granted in 2013 so the man had no reason to lie. |
