you're welcome.

You might have to convert eventually, depending on the brother. Or at the very least, compromise by not attending church all the time.

Then the kids will probably have Muslim names and be raised Muslim as well as Christian.

Not to mention the ever present issue of multiple wives though that could happen with a "Christian" as well.
the children have to be raised as muslims, that's why muslim women are not permitted to marry non-muslim men, as it is their belief that the children should take on their father's religion.
but muslim men can marry non muslim women.

So the whole purpose is just to promote Islam. A woman is denied the right to marry whomever without restrictions because they want to promote Islam, and they say Islam respects women how?

The Catholic church waded in and supported she should remain on life support, perhaps hoping for a miracle that has not happened in 16 years.[/quote]The Catholic Church's stance is not for a miracle to happen, although that would be greatly appreciated, but that ALL human life is sacred from the moment of conception to NATURAL death.
Natural death meaning a person's life is not taken and no one but God decides when the person takes his or her last breath. Medical services are supposed to help not hurt, stopping someone from living is hurting them and ending their life. Medical services are to help us survive, she was survivng on medical services and for 16 years they did the right thing, but now they played God by saying when her life should be ended.
When they switched off the machines they decided to end her life.

Euthanasia is wrong.

But I have this wish, to question the protestants on the Bible and their beliefs. I only wish one person will be willing to take me on that challenge, and that they will do so truthfully, logically, and respectfully. Unfortunately I haven't come across a Protestant who is willing and capable of doing that, on this board. Those that I have encountered outside of this board that have been truthful, logical, and respectful, are considering becoming Catholics.

@ Lady

So do you know who were the Waldensians in southern France and northern Italy were? These were the repository of whatever pure Christianity that might have remained, despite the lies spread against them as a means to justify the persecutions. These guys were the precursors to the reformation. These were Christians in the highest sense that stood for truth despite the imminent danger that threatened their existence.

Between the Waldensians, Albigenses, and others in and around France and Italy, it is estimated that towns and villages were wiped out. Think about it.

I shouldn't have to remind you of the persecutions in the middle ages, where numerous Christians were burnt to the stake for simply believing the bible.

Some have quoted large figures, but it matters not how many, but that they were persecutions at all. The church of Jesus Christ was never commissioned to use force to convince, but rather to be used by the Holy Spirit to convict the conscience of men and women to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
This is the result of those who refuse to face the truth, when they find the truth, they refuse to acknowledge that they are wrong, therefore they come upw ith something to make themselves feel better, and then call the truth a conspiracy.

That is actually prevalent with a particular people, I believe those are muslims. They claim that the west has changed history and that's why we think Islam is bad, the west is the problem, blah, blah, blah.

Bobbyaf, you just did what they do. When you can't face the truth, you run to "conspiracy theory"

Thanks for the entertainment, you've really made my day. I almost fell out f bed laughing. Smooches.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did Not Die On The Cross. by Lady2(f): 4:28am On Feb 13, 2009
Was he laid in the belly of the earth on in tomb?
Answer my questions first, what does it mean to be laid in the belly of the earth? Why are people put in the earth?
Also, your friend was trying to interpret a passage in the Bible, and the passage mentioned the belly of the earth, and I am asking about the belly of the earth, don't change focus.

Care to share the verses supporting that?
Sure.

Luke 1:35
35 And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God

That was the angel announcing to Mary that she will give birth to the Son of God, a son shares the nature of his Father.
His Father being God, he shares the divine nature of his Father.

Do you care to furnish where God said that you should not marry more than one wife in the bible?
Sheesh for someone who attempts to interpret the Bible you certainly don't know much about it.
Genesis 1:27
27 And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.

The very first marriage, was between one man and one woman, not one man and several women and the man given a choice. They were to multiply, meaning to have intercourse and that happens in marriage.

Genesis 2:24
24 Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.

Here we see that the two shall become one flesh, you cannot have one flesh with one, and another flesh with another. If God wanted for man Adam to have a choice in four wives, he would have provided for that. He would have made 4 women (Eves) and he wouldn't have created them, man and woman, he would have created them man and women to be chosen from.

matt 19: 4 Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said: 5 For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh.

6 Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.

Once again you can't be one with too four women, that is why fornication is wrong, sex is a gift to be shared with two people, and those two alone, for life.

So there, it is in the way God created us. It is against natural law, plain and simple.

Proof from your bible please.
Jesus is Man

He is born of a woman, Mary, you wouldn't deny that.

Jesus is God

He refers to himself as God.

Matt 5:221-22
21 You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. 22 But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire

Jesus equates himself to God "You heard it say, but I say to you" with those words Jesus equates himself with God as he is giving a commandment in place of those regarded as God's law by the Jews. He is replacing the law. He is God.

There are more verses of Jesus giving the commandments.

Matt 9:2
2 And behold they brought to him one sick of the palsy lying in a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man sick of the palsy: Be of good heart, son, thy sins are forgiven thee

Jesus forgives sins, only God has the power to forgive sins.

Matt 12:8
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath

Jesus says he is Lord of the sabbath, he is the Lord of God's law, that means he is God.

Matt 26:
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us if thou be the Christ the Son of God. 64 Jesus saith to him: Thou hast said it. Nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priests rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy:

Jesus acknowledges that he is the Son of God, and therefore of the nature of God, and that's why they want to kill him. Infact that's the reason why he died, if he didn't claim to be the Son of God, the Jews wouldn't have been threatened, and they wouldn't have sought his death. He had to have claimed to be the Son of God, and equated himself with God.

ok that's enough.

Can you do the 3 days and 3 nights calculation for me?
When was he laid?
When did he resurrect
It was never said that he would spend three nights in death, he was to resurrect on the third day
Do not confuse it.
Jonah also did not spend a complete three days and three nights as we would count it, but he would spendit as the hebrew counted their days and nights, from evening to evening.

I will do better than that. Here are the facts. The Medieval Inquisition is a series of Inquisitions (Roman Catholic Church bodies charged with suppressing heresy) from around 1184, including the Episcopal Inquisition (1184-1230s) and later the Papal Inquisition (1230s). It was in response to large popular movements throughout Europe considered apostate or heretical to Christianity, in particular Catharism and Waldensians in southern France and northern Italy. These were the first inquisition movements of many that would follow.

The Medieval Inquisitions were in response to growing religious movements, in particular the Cathars first noted in the 1140s and the Waldensians starting around 1170, in southern France and northern Italy. Individual "Heretics", for example Peter of Bruis, had often challenged the Church. However, the Cathars were the first mass heretical organization in the second millennium that posed a serious threat to the authority of the Church.

The Spanish Inquisition was an ecclesiastical tribunal established in 1478 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms, and to replace the medieval inquisition which was under papal control. The new body was under the direct control of the Spanish monarchy. It was not definitively abolished until 1834, during the reign of Isabella II.
ok, since all these took place before the protestant reformation, how did we kill "bible-believing" christians. you may want to search what those heretics taught first before you include them in your "bible-believing" christians.

Well there hasn't been a release on this, I do know that it has been an issue in the Church, but the theory of evolution will only be accepted as long as it doesn't conflict the idea of a soul or spirit. But still it remains a theory and not yet a fact.

It hasn't been issued as dogma Huxley, so it isn't infallible. Papal infallibilty is when the Pope makes a decree to the Church from the See of Peter. A decree hasn't been made. lol, so no infallibility here hux, sorry to disappoint. smiley

R u Nigerian?

Because growing up (before I moved to the U.S.) Christians covered up from head to toe. Maybe they're not doing so now, but they should. I cover up, actually one day I wore rubbish to Mass, and got sent home. We are to cover up, and be modest in our dressing. This whole showing of extra skin is an error of society.

That's why I prefer wearing traditional wear, not just in mass but in my everyday life. Wish I could afford it though, but making an effort to increase my wardrobe so it will be easier, I guess I could afford it if I didn't spend every dime on shoes, lol.
But with traditional wear we easily cover up, and honestly that is beautiful. I do admire muslim ladies for their choice to cover up, and it really should be that, a choice, and Christian women should choose to cover up too.
With the exception of covering the face and neck and all that, as if we have no identity, if so men should cover up too, equality of the sexes
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did Not Die On The Cross. by Lady2(f): 5:28pm On Feb 12, 2009
The answer to the questions:

Yes, Jonah was dead inside the belly of the whale/fish.
He died before he was swallowed.

Jon 2:1-10
(1) Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
(2) And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
(3) For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
(4) Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
(5) The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
(6) I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
(7) When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
( They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
(9) But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
(10) And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Note the bold portions.

- "Out of the belly of hell cried I"
Hell represents the place of the dead. It is refered to as hades, sheol or grave in different translations. Obviously, it is only the dead that can be in the place of the dead.

-"The waters compassed me about, even to the soul"
This is an expression of death.

-"When my soul fainted within me"
Another expression of death.

Verse 7 of the verses above shows that, jst before Jonah slipped away into death, he prayed to God

Jonah sank to the bottom of the sea as he died and his soul departed to the place of the dead;while the fish then came up and swallowed his body;preserving it in the process for three days
Ok this is just utter RUBBISH. You just gave them collateral to ridicule Christians. You know and I know and everyone knows that this isn't what that verse tells us. You can't just make up stuff to suit you. Just because the muslims do that doesn't mean you have to.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did Not Die On The Cross. by Lady2(f): 5:09pm On Feb 12, 2009
If this is the case, in what way is Jesus more than human?
Because his Spirit is from the divine nature of God's. He shares the same divine nature as the Father, God.

There are many Bible verses that proof your statements, above wrong. His disciples said that he cried, wept, begged and prayed to a God Who can save him. He was reported to have prayed more than one time in the garden of Gestemaine to God, Whom he asked to save him. I see, and I hope you see that Jesus was not directing all this request and statement to himself.
Did you not read that Jesus is fully man and fully God?

He suffered like us because he is fully man, but he resurrected because he is fully God. He took on the nature of man so that we man can share in the divine grace of God. We need help to go back to what God originally created. When God created man he creatd man with grace, he created us without sin, he created us immaculately. Man chose to turn from that grace that God created us with and so God in his live and infinite goodness, decided to restore man to that grace as he created us. So while we may have original sin, Christ came so that we may have original grace. We are being restored to that original grace.
But since death came from man, salvation had to come from man too. But the only one who is infinitely perfect and could never be under the influence of the devil is God, therefore God himself had to become man, born to a woman, to ransom those uner the influence of the devil.

But because he is of the nature of God, he couldn't be overcome by the devil in death, so he conquered the devil and conquered death, by resurrecting. Remember death came into the world when man fell under the influence of the devil, so death had to be conquered too.

Jesus is without sin because he is the New Adam and just as the Old Adam was created immaculate (without sin) the New Adam must also be born Immaculately (without sin), but he had to stay that way and the only one who could do that is God.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did Not Die On The Cross. by Lady2(f): 5:02pm On Feb 12, 2009
And you thought that because the "prophet" (AS) was a trader, he was simply copying the Christian ideas? Why did he equevocally condemn/disagree with the very foundation of theChristian religion, which is Jesus dead on the cross and the rising to live on the third day?
Actually he did, and I can name them.

Things that muslims do or are commanded to do:

1) Pray five times a day
2) Use the tesibu to keep count while praying
3) Make pilgrmages
4) Arabic is the official language of Islam
5) Arabic is used for prayer
6) Most Muslims learn arabic and pray using the language

Now seeing that the only Christians or true christians that were around at that time were Catholic, let's look at what catholics do.

1) There is the liturgy of the hours, which is prayed everyday at specific hours, It is a must for the priest but the lay are also adviced to pray it.
2) The rosary is used to keep count while praying
3) We also make pilgrimages, unfortunately the muslims came and made it difficult for us make pilgrimages at the time of muhaammad.
4) Latin is the official language of Catholicism
5) Latin is used in prayer
6) Most Catholics learn arabic and pray using the language

So see you guys did copy a lot from us.

Why isn't you foundation that of the Christians? Well because Muhammad encountered the heretics at that time. The gospels were not foregin to muhammad and as he rightfully admits his wife's uncle or whatever relation that was, was a christian, but he was a heretic. Muhammad was surrounded by syrians and so he heard the gospel in syriac which sounds very much like arabic and he confused the sayings.
He also couldn't accept several teachings of Christ because it wasn't compatible with his cultrue and views, for example the marrying of four wives, that was the norm in the arabic culture, and muhammad couldn't let that go, also with the diet that he had, he also couldn't let that go. He still hasn't explained why God didn't give Adam the choice of marrying 4 wives if he intended it to be that way.

Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did Not Die On The Cross. by Lady2(f): 4:50pm On Feb 12, 2009
Hi do you believe in the Holy Bible? Do you believe what Jesus himself said? Well Jesus has told us that he never died on the cross.

When the Pharisees asked Jesus to give them a sign this is what Jesus said to them." A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign. But no sign shall be given to you except the sign of Jonas. As Jonas was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale so the son of man (Jesus) shall be in the belly of the earth. Mathew 12:40

The question is DID JONAS DIE?

the answer is NO JONAS DID NO DIE IN THE STORY WE ARE TOLD IN THE BIBLE. JONAS WAS A SIGN TO THE NINEVITES. HE DID NOT DIE.

You ask me to prove it? OK

1) When Jonas was on the deck of the ship was he dead or alive? answer 1) Jonas was alive.

2) When Jonas was thrown out of the ship, was he dead or alive? answer 2) Jonas was alive.

3) When Jonas hit the water of the sea was he dead or alive? answer 3) Jonas was alive.

4) When Jonas was swallowed by the whale was he dead or alive? answer 4) Jonas was alive.

5) When Jonas was in the belly of the whale was he dead or alive? answer 5) Jonas was alive.

6) When Jonas was spat out by the whale was he dead or alive? answer 6) Jonas was alive.

At no time in the story(parable)(Sign) was Jonas dead. Never. Jonas did not die. Jesus in his usual mystery has told everyone." Just as it was with Jonas so shall it be with the Son of Man." Jonas spent three days and three nights in the belly of the whale. And all the time he was alive. Jesus also spent three days in the belly of the earth AND AT NO TIME WAS HE DEAD SO THERE WAS NEVER ANY RESURRECTION.

Friends JESUS was put on the cross .Yes. But he did not die. He was brought down alive.

The Romans devised crucifixion as a long, slow and painful death. To speed up the process of death the legs of those crucified were broken. Jesus' legs were not broken because the soldiers thought he was dead.
Actually, Jesus said he will be in the belly of the earth, how does one enter the earth if they are not put there? When is someone put into the belly of the earth?

I really want an answer to this question.

So do you need sources to prove the inquisitions that killed millions of bible-believing Christians? Or are you prepared to downplay that such barbaric acts were committed by the so-called church of God?

Recognise:
THE Vatican has admitted that Charles Darwin was on the right track when he claimed that man descended from apes.

A leading official declared yesterday that Darwin's theory of evolution was compatible with Christian faith, and could even be traced to St Augustine and St Thomas Aquinas.

To read more: Click here

Just made Huxley's & Co someone's day with a delightful ear to ear smirk.

Recognise, I know for a fact that the Church has not embraced evolution as a fact that happened. It is still very much a theory which is what the article said. You may be confused with what a theory and a fact is. But just to let you know a theory isn't a fact.
St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas did not teach evolution, now that is a fact, they're two of my favorite saints and I know their writings.

Please do your research first before you post something, and make sure your source is credible. People like olaadebu and no2atheism that are too lazy to do their own credible research will accept it as gospel. Always be careful what you post as you can be sued for libel.

(Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. ).
Christ was talking to people not the Bible, the people are the Church. Do not misinterpret the Bible. Did Jesus send the Bible into the world to preach the gospel? Or did he send people (The Church)? Did he give authority to the Bible to cast out demons or did he give it to people (The Church)?
If you can sincerely answer these questions you would have found the truth of the Bible.

Olaadegbu

Actually there is reference in the Bible as to the days not being actual days as a ages in the sight of man is a day for the Lord. I'll have to find that verse for you. Most Jews also know that the account in Genesis isn't literal and that the days could very much mean ages.

I decided to post these because I think they are very beautiful. It really is for everyone. Olaadegbu and all. Pls watch the videos, they will benefit all Christians, this one isn't about catholic or protestant, It is very beautiful. It is Archbishop Fulton J Sheen (RIP) speaking to the youth about sex. It's amazing how a man who lives as a celibate knows more about sex than those who abuse it. Sex is truly sacred.

Christianity EtcRe: Italian Woman In Right- To- Die Debate Dies by Lady2(f): 2:12am On Feb 12, 2009
Here's what baffles me.

They're saying people have the right to die, so does that now make suicide right?
Because when someone decides to die wouldn't that be their right to die?
If so why are we trying to reduce the number of suicides per year.

Carlosein:
her dolls, no i haven't. they must be really cute.

St Faustina, pray for us.
Actually they used to scare me, not that she's ugly, she's actually pretty, but the way they make the dolls, ohhh goodness, it can be scary at times, well to me anyway.

Moyola:
Hang on!! Is there a saint by the name 'John Bosco'?!! shocked

Kuz I used to sit with dhiz boy called 'John Bosco' when i was in primary 5/6, cheesy thought he was just nicknamed 'Bosco'
Hahaha that's cute, but I know that parents who have the last name of a saint usually name thair children after that saint, so that their full name is actually the saint's name.
But if he wasn't named after Bosco, then that's a real coinkidink and a very cute one at that.
But no he's not the John Bosco we're talking about.

Carl, there is a movie about Don Bosco

NO NO No no, my Lady, i strongly beg to disagree.
Homosexuals are rebels. they are people who have hardened their hearts to the truth of God's word.
Agreed, the feelings might be there, it does not mean they should give in to the desire for such unnatural love pattern. it is not a natural pattern for any sane person.
Imagine all road users obeying the urge to over speed! Over the desire to have sex with the handsome/pretty fellow we meet on the walk way or at the subway!
if such desires arise, we must overcome it and not indulge and start spreading it around in the name of civilisation!

yes, they are free to come to the church, but to come for counselling and deliverance! Not to form a cliche and carve a niche for themselves as part the church! It means the church has ceased to be a church!

that is why we are saying in the anglican church that such must not be celebrated or tolerated. we are the church of the God who is too holy to behold iniquity.

he loves sinners (homosexuals et al inclusive), yet He hates sin!

let's face it, Homosexuality is a sin. that is scriptures for you, lady!
1. They are not rebels, at least not those who wish to indulge in the act
2. How is this different from what I said? It's the same thing, with different words.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

i beg o, you no go kill me my lady

ok, we all owe the roman catholic church. lol
we go bring our tithe come give the pope, when we reach heaven.

angry talking of the homosexual thing, we will not fold our hands and allow them become a part of our God's church.

we will join the catholic church in heaven.
lol
lol abeg it's not my intention to kill u o, no go die o.

Well hmosexuals are a part of God's church. It is one thing to have homosexual feelings but to engage in the act is another. People like that are called to a life of celibacy if they can't overcome their feelings. But in no way does it mean they can't be a part of God's church. But they cannot be Priests, in the anglican Church because your priests can marry, and it is wrong for homosexuals to marry.

see you in heaven
