The Yoruba race is a product of great historical situation and has been associated with spectacular cultural, political, social and economic development. The Yoruba race can in a way be regarded as the heralds of modern Nigeria. They were the purveyors of new political, religions, economic, cultural and intellectual ideals and concepts. Several centuries of contact with Europeans along the coast and the Yorubas’ historical experience played a crucial role in this regard. It is now a historical fact that the Yorubas are blessed with geniuses and distinguished people on religious, educational, political and economical concerns. People like Herbert Macauley, Awolowo, Akintola, Bode Thomas, etc. contributed immensely to the development of Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole. The Yorubas continue to produced efficient civil servants, surgeons, patriotic journalist, religious ministers and powerful barristers like, Alexander Sapara Williams, first Nigerian to be fully qualified as a legal practitioner, since 1879, his brother Dr. Ogunsola Sapara from Oshun, distinguish himself in medicine. Lady Agnes Yewande Savage qualified as a Medical Doctor in 1928, Lady Stella Jane Thomas was called to the bar in 1933, Samuel Ajayi Crowder an indigene of Osogun in the present Oyo State was the first African Bishop of the Church Missionary Society (C.M.S), in 1862 he completed the translation of the Holy Bible into Yoruba. The first universal races congress held in London 1911, presentation of paper was successfully presented by a Yoruba man Dr. Mojola-Agbebi. But, in sharp contrast, the first university graduate among the Igbo nation, Nnamdi Azikiwe, did not emerge until 1934 and the first Igbo medical doctor, Francis Akanu Ibiam, was not produced until 1935. Also, the first university graduate in the whole of the defunct Northern Region, Dikko, did not emerge until 1952. My people, LET US BREAK AWAY FROM THESE DUNCES Economically, the Yorubas are in the forefront in commerce and industries as well as in agriculture. Before the advent of oil doom (sorry oil boom). Our cocoa, coffee and palm-oil stood as the main sources of revenue for the nation by then. Today, the Yorubas are nowhere as far as economics viability is concerned, if oil’s money is removed. Despite all government revenue allocation in the past on agriculture, farmers in Yoruba-land least benefited year-in year-out from those allocations. Though the illegal military involvement in our political life, carefully planned by colonial master to favour certain section, contributed to our predicament. As of today the level of poverty in the rural area is alarming most especially in Yorubaland. The Yorubas are first among equals, but they have been reduced to slaves on their own soil, that is why Yoruba must be prepared, preparations begin from the sub-conscious mind, where the pro and cons would have been scrupulously examined, Pa Adesanya should call on Pa Alayande, Pa Solanke should call on Jakande, while Adebanjo should embrace uncle Bola Ige. Dr. Olunloyo should act as true son of the soil. Let Falae, Akinjade, the Awolowos Akintolas, the Ooni, the Alaafin etc., sit down in a round table, to iron-things-out, "without eyes of life" (oju-aye). Let all religions leaders like Gbonigi, Alaba-Job, Adegbite, Arisekola, Folawiyo etc team together to find solution to Yoruba problems. The Yorubas believe in hard work, merit and are best in distributing responsibilities at local and national level of the economy. An average Yoruba does not want to know whoever is the head of government provided the occupier is efficient by nature, cheating is abomination to them while the spirit of tolerance remains a virtue of daily life. They are proud of their achievements to the level of displacement of personal egoism, that is why some nonentities will think that people like Wole Soyinka, Bola Ige, the Kutis, Gani Fawehinmi etc. are arrogant. The Yoruba are lovers of justice and fairness with progressive ambition. We should all know that the best way out of this mess is to maintain our determination to resist enslavement at all cost. Yoruba should re-establish themselves; reunite themselves at both home and Diaspora as a powerful force ready to determine their own destiny. Yorubas should tolerate themselves and jointly wage war against poverty and backwardness of the present time, we should all support the break up of Nigeria so as to move Yoruba to the proverbial promise land ASAP.

ElRazur: Well capitalism thrives on people's woes, fears, and anxiety. There is nothing like the Nigerian dream, BTW. The movie industry in Nigeria is the biggest scam ever. I guess in your opinion, the politicians in Abuja deserve the money they make, and by extending your ludicrous argument to include other spheres of the Nigerian society, is it safe to assume that those people involved in 'yahoo yahoo' deserve the money they make as well; after all, they ( yahoo yahoo and politicians like Omisore and Tinubu) are doing nothing, but are making something In my line of work, the average person invests at least 250000 dolls into their education, in the hope that it will pay big when they finish schooling. It is only in Nigeria, especially, in the movie industry, that people put in nothing, and reap big overnight. So the movies is not to your taste as you will want us to believe, but you will rather try and watch it for free? You contradicted yourself and just talking for the sake of it. Yes, to while away time. I'd rather watch, most times I just listen while I do other things on my computer, than say listen to music. I dont think the quality is worth my money and time really. I have not contradicted myself. If they do not deserve their lifestyle, is it a fair assessment that you do not deserve to be allowed near a computer with internet access ever? Why are you thinking like Ileke like this? Are you from Ekiti as well? This is all about quid pro quo my guy I work hard, and I bought my laptop from best buy with my money. It wasnt given to me free of charge. I dont know about you, but here nothing is free. Internet access? Need I explain? Dude, your post is coming across as jealousy and envy to be honest. I dont do movies. Why should i be jealous of those riff-raffs? You seem to come across like it is your damn right to watch movies for free simply because it is Nigerian movie. Don't be daft please. This folks owes you nothing and their stuff should not be watched for free if it is their blood and sweat. They owe me plenty They are able to make it as easily as they have done because the government isnt doing her job There are no certifications required, no tax collected from them. No well staffed oversight body to regulate their activities, and the quality of the crap they produce. Simply put, they have exploited the system badly, and by so doing, they have denied their fellow citizens, yours truly included, services we would otherwise have enjoyed. What a joke. Please tell me you are joking? No, i am not joking. i am damn serious |

ElRazur:Ode, wetin concern Youtube concern nollywood Hows youtube going to make money from having less nollywod materials on their site? As a matter of fact, the present arrangement of having private individuals upload those videos is the best for youtube. The problem here is IrokoPartners or whatever they call themselves. They are trying to corner the industry, and I bet it with you, it is going to be an EPIC FAIL. The industry is not as lucrative as they think it is! |

violent: Ode I am talking about quid pro quo These guys did not invest shi shi into their education, did not study the industry; pretty much, they woke up, joined the industry, monopolised it with their African magic, and bula, they are making millions while zillions of professionals are roaming the street aimlessly. A little bit of fariness here my guy. What they produce is absolute nonsense. Same theme, same plot, same face day in, day out They do not deserve the lifestyle they enjoy, looking at the quality and content of the crap they produce. It is sheer wickedness on their part to go after those youtube uploaders. The people watching it are not going to buy it in the first place. i watch it whenever I am homesick and feel like hearing some Yoruba, not necessarily because I love it. What they should do is that they should prevent it from been bradcasted/watchable in Nigeria, and allow the rest rest of the world, especillay the Nigerians in the west, have access to it. A little bit of public service , thats what we are asking for. |

Ochi_Agha:Being awarded a scholarship is not a testimony to your high intellect; in Nigeria, yes, but not in yankee. There is a reason you send in your tax return before you are awarded a scholarship In America, scholarhips are awarded to, mostly, indigent students Bill Gates with his 1560 did not get a scholarship, nither did Paul Allen with his 1600 So what gives? If that is how you hoodwink your fellow clueless Biafrans about your 'non-existent' high IQ, sorry to break it to you, it 'aint' working here Ileke-Idi might buy it, SEFAGO and I arent |

In Nigeria, they whine and cry marginalization and tribalism when things do not go their way; in America, they cry racism and AA. Like Emeagwali, like Omemani from Maryland! ^^^ I have a feeling that the OP is an Oyinbo pepper.Their men can be talkatives. I think the problem stems from cultural difference/understanding. I dont see the marriage working out well It seems they are both frustrated and only God knows when one of them is going to kill the other; he who takes the initiative to kill first might be the eventual victor. |
