ALMUSTAQIM:

I am strongly thinking APGA is needed to truly capture the South East.

The recent defection of DORA AKUNYILI suggest APGA will likely pull wait in the coming elections.

Look this how it is going to work

What APGA is going to do is to split the vote three ways; a huge share would go to APGA while the rest, a small percentage of the total) would be divided between ACN and PDP.  APGA is not going to win the presidency, so no one cares about APGA; they can carry the whole of the SE if they want, it bothers not the rest of the country. The prize is the Northern electorate. The north is the most important region in the federation. And to win the Presidency, you need to carry the North and one or two groups in the South, preferably SW. So if at all, ACN is going to have a chance, their best bet would be a Buhari/Yoruba ticket, and to carry the SS along, all they need to do is promise them the post of the senate president. The SE is not going to vote Yoruba, we all know that. And, neither would Yoruba vote for an Igbo candidate. However, the SW vote, is a more assured vote than that of Alaigbo because the Yoruba people vote as a block and, unlike Alaigbo, the SW is not favorably disposed/well represented in the PDP; hence, no allegiance whatsoever to the PDP.

And my friend, that was how Abiola won the presidency, calling the bluff of the SE, while concentrating on other sections in the country. ACN/CPC can do the same by following the same playbook

I don't know why folks come here to say irrelevant things.  undecided
If GEJ wins ( and I pray fervently that he wins! cool) Igboland will be transformed within 8 years of his rule.
Actually Nigeria will be transformed, and Igboman gains most in a functional system 'cos we hustle !

Anytime it (presidency) comes to Igboland, it must come before it goes to Yorubaland. That's my point.

THis post contradicts your previous post below

You are highly misguided
The most important thing in politics is 'organization'; the more organized you are, the better your chances and the two most organised groups in Nigerian politics are the core North, and the SW.

SS and SE have never mattered in the grand scheme of things. Very easy to get the SS onbaord, promise them the senate presidents. SS, can never and will never become president in Nigeria. In the present arrangement,it is luck, and I repeat, LUCK, more than political brilliance, that made a SS the president. The SW vote, a very crucial one is not GIVEN for GEJ. present a Yoruba as vice, see the SW go gaga for a Buhari/Yoruba ticket. Give the SS the senate president and see how they all go for ACN. Like Abiola said, who needs the Igbos, the truth is that ACN does not need them, we only need to carry the SS along in the south while Buhari works his magic in the North. in 1993, Abiola lost in the whole of Alaigbo; yet, won the total election by 'moonslide'

As for the north, that is why we have Buhari. And, in your twisted mind, do you actually think that the north, mid west included, would go for GEJ over Buhari? Like someone said somewhere else, with Buhari on the ticket, the North would be won over on BBC Hausa; lets see how GEJ or a SE would fare on BBC Hausa.

I personally do think that a Yoruba should not be on any ticket next year, but eh, why should Tinubu care about some stupit zoning, he is in it for his people, not for Alaigbo

Until Alaigbo puts her house in order, political relevancy would continue to elude her. Gone are the days of Zik, Okadigbo and Ekwueme, right now there is no Igbo man brilliant enough to lead the Igbo nation.
That my friend is the reality, you have to live with it.

Abiola lost Igboland because he said he was going to give Igbo the position of secretary to the federal government.
Arthur Nzeribe said to him, "so, the best you can do for Igboman is to have him serve you tea?" and that was where Abiola's trouble started.
Arthur then promised him that he would never rule.

The rest is history.

So Arthur Nzeribe was the reason Abiola did not rule Nigeria?

Is there an Oba in Ekiti? or are you referring to Dapobear as Oba?

In Yoruba history, from time immemorial, save for some years, the Ooni has always being superior to the Alaafin

Oba what? I would become the Aare before OBJ.

Nowadays I think the Aare should represent more of a Political leader or economic leader
Alaafin is historically more powerful than Ooni. Oyo was the capital of Yoruba kingdon and Alaafin was the ruler.

The Ooni post was elevated by Awolowo when Sir Adesoji Aderemi was ooni

With all due respect, don't say that again

I am a true son of Ife and i will not take it lightly any disrespect, in whatever form, to Ooni's throne and supremacy. There is a reason why Opa Oranmiyan lies behind my grand- father's compound in Ife

Igbos voted in great numbers for Abiola even after he told Nzeribe that he did not need the Igbo vote.

Was there an Igbo man contesting against Abiola?

Why not talk about what Abiola did for the Igbo nation tto deserve their votes?  FYI, Okadigbo championed the cause of Abiola more than any other Igbo, for reasons that were strictly political. He was promised as post.

Were there to be an Igbo politician contesting against Abiola, the igbo people no doubt would have voted for their fellow Igbo son. My point is that the  Igbo people voted for Abiola because they had to, they were no Igbo candidate, and they have to vote for someone

Look at Dayokanu's analyses, he was spot on.
