Are we so blind to see that there is a renewed resurgence to take over the country by these bandits and insurgents most especially as it seems the military is not able or not even interested in putting them in check anymore.

People are making lost of money from the lending business, almost in an exploitative manner. We're talking about 4% interest monthly on cash that is on lockdown not to talk of expendable.

You only need solid verification of being able to get your funds back in the event things go south. Having a connection with an account manager to verify the client's cashflow and ensure a debit clause can be put on the account in the event of default. You can also work with collaterals but of ocurse you do your due diligence. Ensure the client is the real owner and you have the right to take over the asset or sell it in if the client fails to deliver as stipulated in the contract.

The magic lies in the process so you need to set the neccessary mechanisms in place. Best of luck

I plan to raise a 70sqm 2 bedroom building somewhere in Ogun state (one of the Ijebus) and I got a bill of #765k just for the design. (I already paid about #350k for survey. Architect said the majority goes to registering the design with town planning. How true is this?

For others, it requires planning and I don't think I know anyone who paid for his/ her doctoral studies. That said, one should consider to apply to programs where one has great chances of admission and funding.

Just because you don't know doesn't mean doctorates are free. You can pay for your PhD in all these countries you mentioned but that's if you can. If you truly know about these things, you won't be speaking this way.

What's the essence of carrying the whole family and kids when you are the only income source in a expensive country? To each his own anyway.

Masters is the most popular student route to japa as PhDs are too competitive. Besides how many people have the resources to carry wife and children together as they travel for the first time.

Economically it's just not worth it. Farming is so much risk for little reward and this is due to multiple factors.

The blue ocean strategy remains valid here. You are competing with 70% of Nigeria's workforce and you expect farming not to be supply driven when anybody can throw seeds in the ground expect it to grow?

Let's not talk about the kangaroo policies or unethical nature of most Nigerians.

Those making it in Agric today are the tradesmen and the processors. Look around you, top Agric players in Nigeria only do contract farming or delve into other stages of the value chain. Not production.There's a solid reason for that.

Even in the EU and US, farmers are heavily supported by the govt or simultaneous high income businesses they go belly up.

I agree with what you'be decided. Find an alternative source of income that you can rely on when there are no contracts but don't give up on building your experience and portfolio.

When you finally get your contract, you would get solid money. Don't forget to continue hustling for gigs too. It's not just about joining yourself to these one time projects. Sell yourself aggressively to anyone and everyone.

It's marketing that brings the jobs, not only skills. Lokoja is also a good place to build yourself because I can imagine that the competition in Abuja would be quite stiff

If the government is truly subsiding farmers then the same govt has the right to demand the supply of products to the market. Just like every other business, commodity trading is a thing.

Is it farmers suffering from the harsh economy that would have enough cash to starve themselves without selling their grains while waiting for prices to increase?

Buhari closed the borders and food prices shot up. Rice mountains were erected in Abuja to prove that we were indeed sustainable. Lots of farmers were happy and people ran to invest in grains stocking and farming enterprises predicting a handsome reward based on current circumstances.

Half way into the planting season in 2024, biting prices saw Tinubu giving a 6 month waiver for importation to reduce food prices while the season goes on.

Now we're in May this year and the gates are still wide open. Farmers who bought expensive input and high price grains for storage are counting losses. Talk of inconsistencies and too much make belief

Nigerians sufferings have just been amplified. The poor state of the economy is not as a result of people wanting to import, it is because the country does not provide a suitable environment.

When you have to pay for every infrastructure that should otherwise be provided cheap because you pay taxes, how would you thrive?
Power is expensive and epileptic. Roads are terrible, haulage costs are high and lack of local tech would make you import essentials at unfavourable exchange rates. Over hundred agencies would be chasing you around for dues, looking to fleece you because you dared open shop. From Local Govt to nafdac, signage, etc. Even agbero would stop your driver on the road to collect their share or they disrupt your business.

There's a solid reason why the only rich people you see around are only into commerce. No one dares go into manafacturing except you are backed by foreign cash. For local entrepreneurs, you have to do fund raising from foreign investors to thrive because BOI would take years to approve a loan that won't even pay your employees salary for 3 months.

Better countries pay their farmers subsidies, give tax relief when you contribute to the society, offer free top tier training to the unemployed, and offer multiple grant competitions to start ups. You have constant energy, internet and asphalt eveerywhere even in the hinterland so things are highly predictable and manageble. and if you overpay taxes, you get refunded.

We can't produce shyt and these goods would be smuggled at much higher prices to meet demand. enjoy your APC govt.
