Alphadoor: ok well this is a hot topic...it has been mentioned here before but no definite answer was given on alternatives to not wrting english test for spouse. Hopefully someone can shed more light this time ***I believe it is straightforward; unless your spouse is a citizen of New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, United kingdom, Canada or United states, or posses at least a degree qualification or five years secondary education from any of these countries, my comrades; it is expected that your spouse writes an English test. |

virtual3xpert: Can I please send you a mail? I have some questions regarding requirements for the assessment. SSSI website has been offline for some weeks now. Okay. |

ZoeW: Thanks Laazo. She hasn't worked a day as a surveyor or anything remotely associated with "spatial". Would this not be risky? Though she already has 20 points from IELTS and 30 points from age.
Just an update: ANZSCO 232214 (Other Spatial Scientist) is now assessed by VETASSESS while ANZSCO 232212 (Surveryor) is assessed by SSSI Wow times are changing; unfortunately I have no clue about Vetassess but there are peeps here who do. |

ZoeW: If you know anyone that is familiar with writing please hook us up so we can get some tips. She studied surverying and geoinfomatics engineering at unilag but works as an IT auditor/IT project quality assurance at one of the big four accounting firms for almost 7 years certifications: Oracle SQL expert, CISA from ISACA. Would RPL fly? cos skills assessment doesn't look like it would be favourable.
thanks Let her assess as other spatial scientist under SSSI (ANZSCO 232214) and if she has any 6 months plus one year IT experience in gis. In short try researching this route. Obviously she needs to bag 20points in PTE or IELTS. and not claim work experience. |

yungmin: Please, someone should answer me abeg. would a COREN seal be enough for a reference letter for EA assessment? First of all; are you submitting ref letter for Assessment or Visa application lodgement? Secondly; every assessing body has guidelines on the acceptable format for reference letters, at least I know SSSI does. Now if you intend to show proof of work experience for lodging your visa app; an attestation letter / to whom it may concern on coy letterhead; dated, signed / stamped or both with the contact details of the author as well as your job description or position, salary, date of employment et' al would suffice. In addition back it up with employment letters, tax certificate, pension etc. In the case of reference letter, my two references were not on letter heads because my present employer had a policy against using letterhead s for contractors ( IOC) and my previous company no longer exist, though I was given severance letter with letterhead. Nonetheless the two letters were fully detailed with contact info and I got a positive assessment and currently lodged visa app. |

Alphadoor: I concur
Same also goes for all nigerian commercial banks issuing USD debit card.
Also don't forget the bank charges when making conversion... I always add 5 USD for every 100 USD transactions For Gtbank ; I have already included all their relevant charges in my conversion of AUD1.26 = $1. For instance AUD6300+0.98% DIBP charge ( AUD 6,361.74 = $5,037.85). This can also be supported by ppl on this forum who have used GTB payment for same. ***Caveat: try adding an extra of say $50 to avoid the transaction bouncing back, for Gtbank normally hold that extra sum but returns it after transaction goes through.

einsteino: pls do you have the persons phone number? hope to do mine today. I didn't keep the Inspector's contact though, but be rest assured that once you get to Force CID; they will hustle you themselves. Just be firm and hold your ground while negotiating irrespective of their guile. Some would even tell you 15,000naira but what you can offer is what you present. |

akereconfi: Did mine in PH....
You can do it anywhere, I guess they post it to Lagos / Abuja and post it back when it's ready. Took 8 days to get it done.
15k against the normal 5k you will pay at Lag I did mine for NGN3,500 March 2017 at Alagbon and it took only few minutes; it's all about your negotiation power. |

Vinsmuft: Updates:
The Journey We came in with IOM arranged tickets. The discount they gave us really made sense. If I had gone directly, I would have paid N2.7m for myself and my family. But with IOM I ended up paying N1.3m. Although I had to send them plenty reminders after filling their form and the initial one week they gave me had elapsed.
The journey though long, was very pleasant on Emirates. IOM waited for us at Dubai and took us to an all expense paid lounge where we waited for the connecting flight to Melbourne. In that lounge was a small buffet where we ate and drank without paying a kobo. Summary: Please if you can, go ahead and book with IOM. I highly recommend them pls.
In Melbourne I came into Melbourne and met some serious cold weather. Though I was warned, the height of the cold (permit the english) was beyond me. So please when coming here, make adequate preps for yourself and your little ones. Buy thick jacket, gloves and thick socks. No go do Ijebu like me and go buy some lame sweater from Naija. I spent one day in Melbourne and had to buy a serious and expensive jacket. I was told that winter is about coming and so things would get colder . No dull yourself.
The transport system in Victoria is very organized and similar to what is obtainable in UK. They have prams, trains and buses. All can be paid using a Myki card. If you would be coming into Melbourne, pls get more info here https://www.ptua.org.au/2009/11/18/myki-qa/. Children above 5 years and the elderly pay half the price. In order to move around town, you would need this card. Then download this app on your phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.gov.vic.ptv&hl=en. This app is a must as it gives you bus/train directions on how to get from your current location to anywhere within Melbourne (or Victoria as a whole). Earlier today I go enter wrong bus and don miss road already. But with this app, I found my way back. Using this app requires you to have a SIM with a data plan. I was told Optus is a great GSM line with good data plans. So ensure you have good data before stepping out of your house. Finally please if you have many children you have to know that the law requires them to be in car seats from ages 16 and below. Get more info here https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/road-rules/a-to-z-of-road-rules/seat-belts-and-child-restraints. Omo if them catch you carrying a child without car seat, you go pay heavy fine (as much as $350). I plan to sort out this car seat wahala tomorrow so that we can all go for necessary registrations.
Cheers guys. Will update you as I go along. Thanks for the update and inspiration; how many family members was the fare for, analysis of flight cost please? |
