Subsidy is back !

Lol....

PBAT should swallow the humble pie and accept the mistake he made that has caused the nation untold hardship in the last 1 year and two months.

PBAT's policy statement more than any other speech has caused him untold dis-affection
amongst Nigerians.

Statements like "Turning the corner, light at the end of the tunnel, pregnant woman about to give birth" etc. are all rubbish just kicking the can down the road.

Politics › Re: Emefiele: Court Orders Temporary Forfeiture Of $2.04m, Landed Properties, Shares by Lanruze:
Nigerians are the most gullible set of people and they believe that Mr. Godwin Emefiele's predicament / ordeal is Government fighting corruption.

I totally laugh is Swahili.

The present Government has taken political vendetta an inch too far.

The level of " Witch-hunt" is clearly top notch as a dedicated special panel led by Jim Obazee was commissioned to probe the CBN years specifically under Emefiele.

All the Senior Executives in the CBN including Directors and staff probed and found culpable were not dramatized as much as Emefiele.

The major offence of Godwin Emefiele was the affront on the Tinubu Presidential Ambition during the last General Election.

Hon. Gudaji Kazaure once mentioned on a recorded Berekete TV episode that he met PBAT in lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia after the APC primaries and he informed Tinubu on Emefieles excesses including the mismanagement of the " Stamp Duty fees" charged by Banks and the President told him to gather enough evidence so upon resumption as President he can take action.

The truth still remains that the underlining major offence of Emefiele is his affronting Tinubu's Presidential Candidature through the Naira re-design policy.

If EFCC wants to prove to Nigerians that they really are on an anti-corruption advocacy & action let them prosecute bare faced suspected criminals in the Tinubu cabinet like Matewalle, Ganduje, Akpabio, Betta Edu. Also former Governors like Yahaya Bello, Former Governor of Abia State - Ikpeazu, Former Governor of Anambra State - Willie Obiano and the list is endless.

Also actors like Abubakar Malami (SAN) that flaouted court orders and was also indicted, Tunde Shuaib, Mele Kyari etc.

Emefiele was no doubt a corrupt official but his ordeal is a bare faced " Political Witch-hunt". Simple !!!
Politics › Re: Tinubu Recommends Ganduje For Ambassadorial Role by Lanruze: 7:19pm On Aug 15, 2024
For Umar Ganduje to have remained Chairman of APC till date, shows that PBAT is not an inch serious about public perception on his Governments' anti-corruption drive.

I am still trying to wrap my head around the favour Umar Ganduje did for PBAT that has made him stake his second-term and reputation for a Politically weak and battered image personality like Ganduje.

For God's sake this man has a video that has been forensically audited belongs to him as a Governor stuffing his agbada with proceeds of a bribe received as kick-back from a contractor and the video is viral.

its just the summary ; "show me your friend , and i will show you your future."

I must personally commend Adebayo Adelabu. Minister of Power.

Himself and Dele Alake are the most improved Ministers in the Tinubu led Administration Second Quarter of 2024 (Q2).

Power supply where I live in Lagos has never been this good in the over 20 years I have lived here.

Power supply daily is above 18 hours and it is consistent, predictable and stable.

Kudos to Adebayo Adelabu his performance and efforts are commendable.

Biodun556:
Buhari was borrowing because he did not want to offend Nigerians by removing fuel Subsidy

Buhari was borrowing to pay fuel Subsidy
Not totally true. Buhari encountered lower crude oil prices, a recession and COVID 19.

These factors affected most oil producing countries and global economies.

Buhari's advisers (which includes some top characters now in the Tinubu led Administration) and handlers believed in the economic model of "spending thier way out of a recession" as such the humongous and uncontrolled domestic & foreign debt accumulation during Buhari's regime.

His 8 year tenor was a monumental disaster according to Prof. Charles Soludo. For the first time in Nigerian history money was printed specifically for borrowing with no corresponding collateral to back it up.
Politics › Re: FG Repaying 69 Loans Obtained By Ex-presidents, World Bank Declares by Lanruze:
I personally think Nairaland forum has been infiltrated by paid agents of some interest groups to paint the Obj, Yaradua & Goodluck regime in evil light.

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo being an active participant in the affairs of the economy said it clearly during the Platform event hosted by the covenant christian centre that our woes started in 2010 - 2014 and magnified by the Buhari administration.

He gave data and facts on the clearing and restructure of multilateral loans from the London & Paris Club with a strong and intimidating foreign reserve to the tune of $60B when Pres. Yaradua took over.

The Buhari regime battled lower revenues from crude oil in it's first term in office and plunged Nigeria into the greatest debt crisis in Nigerian history with debt now in Trillions.

Buhari's regime in eight -8- years borrowed more than all the PDP Presidents combined. His government believed in "spending their way" out of recession & COVID and this debt trap is where we found ourselves in Nigeria.

The United States of America (USA) is estimated to be the one of the most indebted nations in the world, however it's debts are channeled to specific intervention & capital intensive projects.

PBAT has also commenced the debt trap profile as his Government has accessed a Crude Backed loan from AFREXIM Bank and Intervention loans from World Bank.

The World Bank Author of this piece is just trying to be mischievous !!

.

President Olusegun Obasanjo is eminently qualified as a statesman to comment on National Issues and talking boldly to power at all levels,

No Man born of Woman will preside over a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious country like Nigeria and wouldn't be criticised or assessed on his performance.

President Olusegun Obasanjo wasn't a perfect leader. However, please list any other Nigerian President dead or alive that history has been kind to like him.

As a military man 1,
He was commander of the intelligent coordinated " Third Marine Commando" which overran the Uli-Airport and had the privilege of the Biafran Forces surrendering to him through Lt. Col. Effiong. 2, Lt. Gen Olusegun Obasanjo "willingly" handed-over power as a military man to an elected Civilian Government led by Shehu Shagari.

As a civilian President Obasanjo was able to use his strong international influence to seek debt forgiveness, initiate an excess crude account, grow the foreign reserve and institutionalize democracy in Nigeria. His administrative reforms which include the public property monetization policy which gave most civil servant access to owning their first properties across government allocated estates all over Nigeria.

The reforms during his regime were positive from Banking to Telecoms to Education etc.

His appointments were balanced and not tribal biased and this pitched him against his kinsmen who accused him of not developing his home state compared to other regions in Nigeria.

Although critics accused him of the Third term bid, He however had a brilliant cabinet and good team which still remains unmatched till date.

Obasanjo qualifies as a three (3) time Nigerian leader, a statesman, a military veteran and an international leader of thought.

Deadlytruth:
A non tribal bigot who ordered the massacre of innocent civilians in other regions on the excuse that security men on duty were murdered in those regions but when security men were also murdered in his own region, he couldn't order similar massacre of innocent civilians there. The biggest fraud in the politics of Nigeria is the ascribing of detribalization to any politician.

President Olusegun Obasanjo is one of the few Nigerian Leaders who posterity will Judge fairly. He had one of the most nationalistic ideals and ran the most prosperous Government since Post '99 democratic rule.

He recruited the best talents from the diaspora which some of them where Okonjo- Iweala (PhD), Prof. Charles Soludo, Prof. Dora Akinyuli, Moses Kpako (PhD), Akinwunmi Adesina(PhD), Oby-Ezekwensili (PhD) etc.

They together ran the most prosperous Nigerian economy leaving behind a staggering $60B in the foreign reserve and clearing of the external multilateral debt of Nigeria to Zero

The major catch to Obj is that he is not a tribal and ethnic bigot an his appointments were balanced.

Once he notes a subject, I suggest rather than dispel it he should be given audience. Corruption will kill this Government if not tackled with care.

My humble opinion is that Bayo Onanuga should be replaced to save President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Optics for Bayo Onanuga and the growing dissent amongst opinion polls on social media and traditional media feedback guages the trust deficit he suffers.

Bayo Onanuga shot himself in the leg with ethnic colourated statements and an unsubstantiated claim that a particular Presidential candidate sponsored the last protest.

Majority of people don't like his guts and also don't believe him on National issues. And a public poll can be conducted to verify his image laundering impact on this Presidents integrity.

It's the Presidents brief but a word is enough for the wise.

The only man who emphatically saw and predicted what is happening to PBAT today is the renowned Petroleum Economist- Bala Zakka.

He consistently warned PBAT on the ultimate consequence of the total removal of Petroleum Subsidy.

Bala Zakka was specific, he said it would lead to anarchy on the long-run.

He consistently gave the example of kerosene and diesel subsidy removal and the impact it had on the consumers which was negative.

The only practical option for PBAT and saving grace for his Administration is the scaling up and swift transition to cleaner energy with CNG conversion taking a front row.

It must be done swiftly or else there is no hypocritical light at the end of any tunnel.

Your points are valid, however what you should know about the Pharmacology of Nicotine in tobacco is that it's the second most addictive substance globally after Heroine.

It knows no barrier of age, race, status, gender and class. Once you are hooked on cigarettes, you may need to do either a personal rehab or talk through counselling.

The withdrawal symptoms are also mind boggling like late night sweating, fatigue, lack of concentration, trembling, nausea and irritability.

The ‘Calm Down’ crooner said the death of his father left him the responsibility of catering for his family at a young age and in the process, he was “forced to sell” his childhood.

In a candid chat with GRM, Rema, 24, said he wants to “feel young again.”

He said he recently started smoking cigarettes in a bid to feel “free and break some rules again.”

Rema lamented that despite being an adult before deciding to smoke, people still criticise his decision because he’s a celebrity.

He said,

This statement although sunnict has come at a very delicate time in Nigeria's reform transition period.

Prof. Wole Soyinka has thrown PBAT under the bus with this statement and it may further embolden opposition elements to run this current regime down faster.

There is anarchy already in the North and Baba Soyinka has proverbially "poured petrol on fire".

I see this protest extending for more days.

Prof. has direct access to Tinubu and could have resolved or aired his issues personally and not publicly.

This timing is absolutely wrong for Prof. Wole Soyinka to pronounce such a public statement.

PBAT may go down in the history of Nigeria as the most tribal democratic President Nigerians ever elected.

Haba ! These people avoided the protests today and they are one of the most marginalized in the country.

The Presidents handlers even worsened it by making unguarded statements about same ethnic group.

The truth is this if the Igbo tribe leaves Lagos today en-mass, The Lagos economy would be significantly affected negatively.

President Olusegun Obasanjo
was a Yourba Man and the tribal card wasn't this pronounced he also had a clear nationalist approach to governance.

From Alaba Intl to Idomota to the Intl. Trade fair complex, Asphamda , Ladipo and the other major markets. We lived in peace with our brothers from the southeast until the last General Elections were the ethnic profiling and polarisation has become so pronounced.

Reno Omokori

The current Minister of Information is a. Public servant I adore so much.

In the last 2 weeks his handling of the communication on the proposed strike from Government side has been persuasive and rational.

He has shown Political maturity and balance in the last couple of months. He cuts like a leader with strong emotional intelligence and not reactive.

Personally with the GenZ generation in Nigeria as the most dominant politically active group, Kenneth Okonkwo should have considered the Odds in favour of Obi.

This political behaviour of this generational group (GenZ) yearn for change whilst being a departure from the traditional tribal voting pattern.

The likelihood that if the LP candidate ensures a wider geographical spread and maintains his political base, the higher his chances in the coming election.

The Airport only exists in the imagination of the former Governor; no land, no structure & no Airport.

Till today, EFCC has not probed or arrested the former Governor. The Governor still walks free and EFCC is busy chasing shadows.

Go ahead with your shenanigans EFCC. Also remember Yahaya Bello and his class of Governors.
