PoliticsB’haram Must Release Chibok Girls —UN Security Council by Laredojohn(op): 3:33pm On Jan 21, 2015
The United Nations Security Council has called on Boko Haram to immediately release the more than 200 abducted Chibok schoolgirls and end all violent attacks against Nigeria and its neighbour, Cameroon.

The Security Council in a statement placed on its website after its meeting on Monday also condemned the recent escalation in attacks by the insurgents, expressing concerns that its activities were undermining the peace and stability of the West and Central African region.

“The Security Council demands that Boko Haram immediately and unequivocally cease all hostilities and all abuses of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law and disarm and demobilise,” Chile’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Cristián Melet, declared on Monday while reading a statement approved by the council.

A group called Avaaz had on Friday launched a campaign calling on the UN Security Council to pass an emergency resolution calling for an end to insurgency and the release of the Chibok girls by Boko Haram.

Avaaz is a global web movement “to bring people-powered politics to decision-making everywhere.” The group on Monday had hailed the declaration by the UNSC.

“Boko Haram has butchered its way into the global spotlight and finally the Security Council is reacting. Today’s statement is a critical start and all eyes are now on Nigeria, its neighbours and the international community to put words into comprehensive action to stop 10-year-olds being strapped to bombs or kidnapped in the night; the Campaign Director for Avaaz, Alice Jay, said.

In the statement, the UN Security Council also condemned and deplored all abuses of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law by the insurgents, since 2009, ‘including those involving violence against civilian populations, notably women and children, and demanded “the immediate and unconditional release” of all those abducted by the group, including the over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok in Borno State in April last year.

The UN body’s condemnation of the terrorist group follows Boko Haram’s recent suicide bombings on January 10 and 11 in Maiduguri and Potiskum as well as attacks in Baga which resulted in the “massive destruction of civilian homes and significant civilian casualties.”

The UN Human Rights office had emphasised last week that the use of a child to detonate a bomb was “not only morally repugnant but constitutes an egregious form of child exploitation under international law.”

According to media reports, some 80 people, many of them said to be children, were abducted on Sunday in Cameroon in one of the biggest Boko Haram kidnappings to take place outside of Nigeria.

The Council’s statement also cited increasing attacks in the Lake Chad Basin region along Nigeria’s borders and noted that some of Boko Haram’s acts “may amount to crimes against humanity.”

Melet said that the Security Council expressed its concern at the scale of the growing humanitarian crisis enveloping the region due to Boko Haram’s operations which, he said, had “resulted in the large-scale displacement of Nigerians within the country into neighbouring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.”

“The Security Council underlines the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice in accordance with international law and relevant Security Council resolutions,” Melet added.

PoliticsEXPOSED: Real Reason Buhari Is Traveling To U.S. – by Laredojohn(op): 3:23pm On Jan 20, 2015
ontrary to claims that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari is travelling to the United States for medical reasons, PREMIUM TIMES has obtained a correspondence indicating Mr. Buhari is only honouring an invitation by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies [CSIS].

Media reports had suggested some days ago that the APC candidate had become so sick that he was planning a medical trip abroad. Mr. Buhari responded by saying he was not sick but only had cold.

But PREMIUM TIMES has now obtained a letter signed by the Director, African Programme of CSIS, Jennifer Cooke, inviting Mr. Buhari to the organisation’s headquarters in Washington DC “to give a major public address on Nigeria’s future as it stands on the edge of a pivotal national elections.”

Ms. Cooke gave Mr. Buhari the liberty to choose a convenient date for the proposed lecture.

“We propose to hold this event on a day of your choosing on either the week of January 5th or the week of January 26th, 2015 but will of course do our best to accommodate your schedule should you have other preferences.”

Travelling at this time would mean Mr. Buhari opted for the week of January 26th.

Ms. Cooke who said the event is expected to attract a large number of United State policymakers, academics, business leaders and members of the diaspora, also told Mr. Buhari that he would be expected to take part in a private off-the-record briefing with a small group of senior US government officials and U.S Congress.

“The event would be on-the-record and given the importance of Nigeria’s elections would be certain to attract a large audience of U.S. policymakers, academics, business leaders, and members of the diaspora. In addition, we invite you to take part in a private, off-the-record briefing with a small group of senior officials from the U.S. government and U.S. Congress. This will be an excellent opportunity to develop contacts and articulate your key messages to an influential audience of foreign policy decision-makers.”

“The CSIS Africa Program has long been engaged in research and analysis on the African continent, and Nigeria specifically. For the past year, we have hosted a conference series analyzing various dimensions of Nigeria’s forthcoming elections and their implications for peace, security, and prosperity in Africa’s most important country. These conferences have provided a platform for Nigerian statesmen to interact directly with Washington policymakers and we wanted to extend this opportunity to you. We hope that your schedule permits your participation and look forward to receiving a positive reply.”

CelebritiesMaupe Ogun, Popular TV Presenter In Hot Romance With Hon. Gbajabiamila by Laredojohn(op): 1:31pm On Jan 16, 2015
This I found very difficult to gossip on our site, that the much celebrated Miss Maupe Ogun of Channels Television is in love and willing to marry Lagos versatile lawmaker and Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

Being in love with a man much more older is not the news, but for a highly revered TV presenter like Maupe to be considering being a second wife is what baffles many including me.

Maupe is undoubtedly very pretty and should caught the eyes of many successful spinsters, considering her kind of job.

If the story you are about to read is true, as culled from CHUKWUDI IWUCHUKWU’S BLOG, then am worried, deeply worried. Could she be in love as stated? Or she is marrying Hon. Femi for fame and wealth?

By Chukwudi Iwuchukwu – Channels Television presenter, Miss Maupe Ogun is madly in love and this is authoritative. The University of Lagos graduate of English and co-host of popular Sunrise Daily on Channels Television is now in a steamy love affair with Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila of the Federal House of Representatives.

Those in the know squealed that Maupe is so madly in love with the lawmaker that she now behaves like a 16year old secondary school girl in love for the very first time. Her bosom friends revealed that she spent hours daily talking to the politician on phone whispering some sweet nonsense into his ears.

F-P-M gathered that the lawyer cum lawmaker showed his profound love for her when he stormed the burial ceremony of her mother in Iragon Area of Badagry Local Government recently with the speaker of the House of Representatives and other top politicians. Sources revealed Badagry town, Lagos State was agog when the lawmaker stormed the town with his powerful entourage.

Insiders said the lawmaker being a Muslim is seriously considering making her his second wife as he’s entitled to marry four wives going by his religion. We gathered the Channels Television star presenter is just waiting to add Mrs. Gbajabiamila to her name. Sources at the television station told us that Maupe has been searching for husband for a long time and doesn’t want to miss this golden opportunity. She was said to have dated a colleague at her workplace who dumped her like a bad habit and went to marry another girl.

I called Ndidi, and I am pleased to inform ya'll that the Jan 12th will be available for pick-up on or before Friday, the 23rd of January, 2015. cheesy Apparently the cargo didn't get off the ground this week, but should do so next week hopefully. So 'em let's keep waiting..
Nice updates though, but same thing am not happy about happening, must we contact before we are informed that goods were not airlifted as supposed to on Monday,it's all as if am the only one and a few thinking this way, but to be sincere, the OP is the one meant to give us updates without we asking, when there is a delay or not. Mr Chino pls look seriously into this. It matters a lot for your business. Thanks

Laredojohn why don't you call his lagos office. op always emphasis on calling his lagos office to confirm delivery.
Ahmed dnt get me wrong here, not complaining squarely about if items arrived lagos office or not, it's a general issue, at least have tried other shippers b4 I moved to him, as said earlier he is the cheapest, but for communication as regards my raised points, for example a particular shipper, gives updates, immediately cargo leaves, arrives, clears customs, processing for delivery and ready for collection, not as if they dnt have their lapses too, so Ahmed u needd understand what am saying here. Let the truth and fact be said, there is nothing there when he updates us his cargo has left the us, arrived Nigeria and clearing custom, most times we are the once that clamor for information before he responds, he should make it a routine. Like...hello all my 12th shipment arrived Nigeria yesterday, clearing customs at the moment, next items cleared, moving to lagos office, collection starts...so so so date...it should be a routine thing for shipments. Ur point about calling lagos office or not isn't what am saying here, how do we call lagos office when we dnt even have any update if the cargo has left us or not. Pls dnt get me wrong here. Thanks

In as much as I like BRF, there is one singular thing about him I dnt, he believes he iss never wrong, but always right, and moreso he must not always reply to comments by the ruling party, it's not a nice idea for politics, if u dnt accept criticism, you are not a good leader.
Technology MarketRe: Shop U.S/eBay/Amazon $3.75 per lb U.S To NIGERIA, No Commission. by Laredojohn(m): 8:19am On Jan 15, 2015
This is a new year, Mr Chino, believe u owe us a duty to give updates about shipments, at least let us know when flight departs and possibly arrives and clearing custom likewise if there is delay or cancellation of flights we should also be informed, this is to make us equally updated, this is key for the kind of business u run, likewise for we to know what to inform our customers if they ask us about delivery of their orders, we dnt have to start comparing urs with others, u are the cheapest that we know, but for communication and updates that's where I believe u need make adjustments, just a opinion, because a particular customer of mine who I told shipments leave the US Mondays, asked me if his items have truly left the US this past monday, could not give him any reply. Pls not just because of me but for us all here, we will appreciate u giving us open updates here on the trend. Believe my fellow importers support my call to the OP to make necessary adjustments. Thanks and do have a blessed day all.
