First a bit of history

Ambode was accountant General in fasholas admin. For some issue Fashola sacked him. Tinubu intervened and Ambode was sent abroad for some training etc. Come 2015,fasholas anointed candidate was Femi hamzat, but Tinubu imposed ambode

Unfortunately Ambode came in as governor with an ax to grind

He did everything in his power to scuttle fasholas appointment as minister, including all sorts of very public probes of spend by the administration

He also embarked on a poorly thought out purge of people he considered loyal to fashola in the civil service. This meant that several people at the top of their careers and in important positions in lasg parastatals were sacked. A lot of institutional knowledge was thrown away

Ambode also did something we associate with other governments - he eliminated continuity and embarked on some white elephant ego driven projects.

He completely abandoned the lagos Badagry expressway

He embarked on the oshodi monstrosity. To this day I cannot say what it was meant to achieve. It is a huge and bizarre and for me ultimately Uselss structure.

He did some great stuff with slip roads and bus parks

Then we have visiion scape, a company based or brought in from dubai for environmental management. Ambode had a reputation for pride and not listening to counsel, and he basically bulldozed without any stakeholder engagement.

Visionscape may have succeeded in dubai, but it is one of those things that is a first world concept brought to a third world environment. And they simply did not have the capacity to manage lagos. They dropped several giant bins around lagos. I live along a road in festac with at least 12 closes. I think there was a total of 2 giant bins for 120 houses. So of course they were soon overflowing with rubbish. It was a complete disaster

Ambode also kept pushing for more revenue. He tried to push for increase in land use tax, also the toll on lekki phase 1 toll gate. Local governments also engaged in aggressive revenue collection. People would park in bank premises and still be disturbed for 'illegal parking'. We had the same issue where local government agents would basically entrap people.

I remember a colleague at the time saying Ambode would cost lagos APC if he was not careful.

Ambodes arrogance was legend in the civil service where he had the alausa chaplain sacked (apparently for being rude to his wife). The man was HATED in the civil service.

Then we had the phone call, which is basically the last straw that broke the camels back. The story is that it was not solely a decision by Tinubu but the inevitable outcome of ambodes poor people skills.

If you have any doubt about ambodes people skills, look at his 'worldwide' press conference after it was announced that sanwo olu would be contesting the primaries.

And a lot of us were pissed off by the spate of construction which had no alternate transport plans.

Today Ambode is only celebrated by the people who hate Tinubu and for that reason.

It's funny when I see people prop up Ambode like one savior.

Sanwo-Olu has completed 2 different housing estates in Ikorodu and both units were started by Fashola. Mr Ambode abandoned it.

Ilubirin housing estate that Fashola started was also abandoned by Ambode.

Should we talk about his inability to continue the Lagos Rail? He says he didn't want to collect loan abi what rubbish excuse he gave then sef.

Today Ambode that they didn't vote for when APC presented him is now the savior of Lagos that was denied. Lmao

Ambode was the cause of his own misfortune.

He actually did well in some sectors but he dropped the ball in some others. His number 1 problem was PRIDE and bad advisers.

While he did well with some roads and bridges in some LG, he totally defunded the Lagos state public work service that are in charge of road maintenance and most road begins to deteriorate. His Visionscape idea was another nonsense that has turned Lagos into a refuse dump, the state hasn't recovered since then.

Then he abandoned most of the projects he inherited from Fashola because of some useless ego fight, he also begin to tamper with the civil service welfare and those ones began to turn on him.

Then theres also another issues with the political leaders of the state.

Performance wise, he was decent but losing the civil service means there was no coming back for him.

Shittu that was actually an Attorney general of Oyo during the tenure of Ladoja is who you guys are calling thug or whatever.

Shittu was not even in AC or ACN and Tinubu cannot even claim to have given him any post. He was a CPC member before becoming a member of APC after the merger.

Well, Ambode's problems were political and self inflicted. A Godfather installed Him and the Godfather removed him even when people were feeling the impact of his projects.

Ironically some of the people who turned against him were those in areas where he built infrastructures. Ambode built good roads, bridges linking communities in places like alimosho LGA but the party big wigs in those areas turned against him.... Why? Because the normal chop-I-chop arrangement on ground in those areas Ambode came to disrupt it.

A case in point is the PSP/VISIONSCAPE issue. LAWMA is in charge of waste management In Lagos and they have a kind-of private-public initiative in which private companies ( usually companies owned by party stalwarts in LGA's across the state) have waste disposal trucks, employ workers who go about collecting refuse on behalf of the LAWMA and these companies popularly referred to as PSP take their own share of the fees paid by Lagosians for waste disposal while government takes its own share as well.......So Ambode brought a totally new company called VISIONSCAPE to take over the job of these guys ( which ultimately means he's taking food off the table of the local politicians who own these companies)

It didn't take for long for them to sabotage the whole thing and dump refuse almost everywhere in the state just to show that the VISIONSCAPE idea will never work. When it was time to crucify Ambode, these guys supplied enough nails to nail him to the strongest cross.

In terms of performance Ambode did well such that even the Godfather's wife along with other two senators representing Lagos in the Senate actually endorsed him for second term based on his performance and infrastructural projects scattered all over the state. I mean as at March 2018 they were so sure the guy deserves a second term before "bàbà sọpé" NO ( See attached pictures of the senators where they endorsed him)

There's also this story of how Ambode after a phone call with Tinubu didn't end the call unknowingly and was complaining to people in the room about the man's constant demands and calling him "greedy" which obviously didn't go down well with his principal.

Maybe if Ambode had made less enemies he would still be a governor today and most of his political transgressions may have been forgiven , but we'll it is what it is. He made so much enemies and today Ade pointer is the governor busy patching road up and down Lagos and always flaunting it on Facebook as "Rehabilitation of roads"
