izzou:FG plan was to do target testing while keep things as normal as possible. Our problem started with the elite or rich class who refused simple instruction of self isolating. This is getting out of hand because of irresponsible citizens who came back from high risk countries and failed to self isolate thereby putting other people’s live in danger. Let’s take example of how the Medical director at UCH got the virus. A woman who is actually a doctor came back from UK with her son, she failed to self isolate and took her child to her day care. The child fell sick and was rushed to UCH, she lied about her travel history and told them the son was battling with malaria. It was after running test that they discover the child doesn’t have malaria and they took the son for testing for Covid-19 and the result came back positive. In the process he infected the medical director at UCH. Do you even know how many people would have gotten it from those 2? |
raumdeuter:I’m not sure. It’s probably a lie. We will know in the coming days. |
izzou:That’s the idea, to flatten the curve and stop the fast spread of the virus. I have said at this period, what govt needs is advise and alternatives on what to do. Lagos State govt says they are partnering with food vendors from Mike 12 and the likes to start an app where you can order for food stuffs and it get delivered to your house. They have also launched the food market farm using schools in areas. What are the better alternatives, please share. |
raumdeuter:Even yesterday, IKEDC says there won’t be disconnection throughout the lockdown period. |
Victornezzar:Do you know we have 5 testing lab in Nigeria before. Now they have set up the one in Abakaliki and have started working on testing lab in Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Maiduguri and the likes. You think it’s going to be easy to ramp up capacity with about 12 billion Naira that was donated? Do you even know how much it will cost in $? We need so much more than what we have currently. Even if you have the money, where will the supply come from? Even the Almighty US had to invoke the Defense Production Act to force GM to start making ventilators. It’s that bad all over the world. |
gensteejay:ASUU is the cause of all the issue surrounding salaries in the FG education sector. FG through IPPIS is deducting all taxes, levies and the likes from the salary before paying. I think that’s why they are not getting their full salary. |
odizeey:You were saying? ![]()
|
afrodoc2:The same Youth Ibime is hoping on are the crackhead that has tramadol and other hard drugs are like water to them. The same ones that drinks anything and smoke like their life depends on it. Ibime no know wetin Dey sup. |
gensteejay:Wait you didn’t hear when FG said in Feb that they won’t pay ASUU members that failed to enroll in IPPIS? Why do you think ASUU are on strike? |
Victornezzar:And this is funny how? ![]() |
gensteejay:Give alternatives bro. Let me learn from you. How should the FG go about it. |
gensteejay:Which FG workers hasn’t been paid? Even Corp members that they usually paid last have being paid. |
Nigeria has a population of 200m+. Number of those with BVN is 40m+ Our National budget for 2020 is 10.5 trillion. Oil benchmark was $50 at an output of 2.1m p/b Oil is our major source of revenue and even at that, we plan to borrow over 3trillion to finance the budget. Now oil is selling for as low as $20 p/b while production is at 1.7m barrel. Everyone is saying govt should isn’t giving any palliative measures to the citizens and when you ask how should they go about it and where will the money come from, no answer. If Govt decides to give out 10k each to those that has BVN, Govt will have to part away with 400billion. What then happens to the remaining 160m+ people without BVN? It seems most people don’t know Nigeria is BROKE. |
raumdeuter:Bros no need. Lets just be looking, cases are already rising fast as testing capacity is being ramped up. Until people starts dropping down sick/dead outside and nowhere to treat them before they know the danger of what’s happening. Shebi FG wants to start opening market by 10am - 2pm now, we will see what happens. |

Amoto94:Those that wants to call it a lie will do so irrespective of how much you try to make them see. |
Victornezzar:Those links were to pass information on what government is doing. The poor doesn’t have access to social media. |
This is BBC pidgin reporting on National Conditional Cash Transfer as far back as August 2018. Here is the link for those interested. https://www.bbc.com/pidgin/tori-45273652

hardeycute:The man gave his name but failed to give the name of the state the isolation center is in? Moreover, states govt are responsible for Isolation centers in their respective states. Anyway let’s wait for the full details of the issue. |
thorrvik55:At bolded, the National Social Safety Nets Cordination Office (NASSCO) is the tasked with building of database of poor and vulnerable households in Nigeria. They were set up in 2016. Go to your local government and ask them how you can enrol in the National Social Register. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thecable.ng/fg-registers-3m-people-national-social-register/amp https://nairametrics.com/2020/02/10/over-9-million-nigerians-living-in-poverty-report/ https://theeagleonline.com.ng/poverty-fg-establishes-national-social-register-for-poor-vulnerable-nigerians/ https://n-sip.gov.ng/cct/ https://ncto.gov.ng/?doing_wp_cron=1585650388.6735520362854003906250 Information abound on the process the government has been making, you just have to check.

odizeey:Drag the National Assembly anyhow you like sir but the National Assembly is not made of APC members alone. Drag all of them collectively. |
odizeey:Are you poor? |
airmark:No sir. No one see the executive order signed by Buhari. The Presidency never announced it. It was a rumor that went around social media which the govt never confirm or deny. Even the police claimed they are not aware of such order. Here’s a screenshot and link from what I can reasonable gather. https://allafrica.com/stories/201906060338.html

If you are in Lagos and you want to get tested for free, the National Institute of Medical Research has started free testing since yesterday. Because of the lockdown and social distancing, you have to fill form and wait to be given a date to come for the test. https://nimr.covid.com.ng Pls fill the form with correct details. You can share it with anyone you know that stay in Lagos. Stay safe. |
gensteejay:It’s meant for the poor of the poor. Mostly those in rural areas. You cannot get poor and most vulnerable through social media or the internet, the best place to get them through to them is through each ward in local government. There’s also plan to include those that earn daily wage that will be affected during this lockdown. See screenshot from the minister of humanitarian affairs.
|
gensteejay:This is where I will exit the conversation. Stay safe bro. |
gensteejay:It’s even better that the lockdown is coming at the end of the month where salaries would have been paid. If the govt still need to continue the lockdown after the initial 2 weeks period, they will work out something. For example during these period, IDP camps will get 2 months good rations in during this period. Ministry of finance also announced they will pay the poor and vulnerable households of the society through the National social register. The payment will be paid through the conditional cash transfer (CCT). Over 10m people are currently enrolled in the social national register in over 400 LGA.
|
gensteejay:But that’s what we are currently doing. Self isolate - develop symptoms - Test - Isolation Center for treatment. The only difference is that we don’t have the capacity for mass testing. We don’t have the money. Our best bet to beat this is to prevent community spread which I’m praying to God hasn’t happened in Ibadan or even Lagos. The lockdown will slow the spread and help government to continue the targeting testing. It’s easy to track contact of confirmed cases during a lockdown. Each state govt. will have to come up with a relief package for resident of their states. |
gensteejay:Calm down bros. There won’t be breakdown of law and order or anarchy. Lagos State did share food items to Resident of the states today through LASRRA. What solution do you suggest? |
@ airmark It’s Fake News. Nothing of such. |
Egungun be careful starting from tomorrow ooo.
|
gensteejay:You do know Nigeria population is x4 of South Africa right? Where will the money to do this come from considering our current realities? |
