Hello Frank, Nice work there. You're good. Very good. Please I want you to read the link below and tell me if you're interested in joining. Nairaland Detection Club Thanks. |
HumbledbYGrace: Erm good job Larry, would you please ask the Guy who wrote 'the tenth generation' if he would love to join?Okay, I will. |
Shugamania: Great job! Now let d reading begin.Good morning, ma'am. |
Mazi_Omenuko: ^ ^ ^ great idea @larry, would love to join, that is if I'm qualified to.You're qualified. I've seen your work. |
Okay guys, the thread about the Nairaland Detection Club has been created. Here's the link below: Nairaland Detection Club |
What is a Detection Club? It is a private association of writers of detective fiction in Great Britain, existing chiefly for the purpose of eating dinners together at suitable intervals and of talking inimitable plots. Its membership is confined to those who have written genuine stories (published or otherwise). Hence my zeal to create one in Nairaland. This Club amounts that the interested writers pledge themselves to play the game with the public and with their fellow writers. A member writer must write as good English as he can. Now, a word about the conditions under which NDC is created. Each contributor to the story tackles the mystery or clues presented in the preceding chapters without having the slightest idea of what the previous authors have in mind about how the story will end. Each contributor will post a chapter each week for the pleasure of the readers. Each writer is bound to deal faithfully with all the difficulties left for him by his predecessors. He must not dismiss them as caprice or accident, or present an explanation inconsistent with them...he must give a coherent and plausible-enough explanation. Each writer may introduce a possible clue either for the mystery to be easily solved or to make it more complicated for the subsequent contributors. Naturally, as the clues become in process of time more numerous, the solutions grow more complicated and precise, while the general outlines of the plot gradually harden and fix themselves. Where one writer may have laid down a clue, thinking that it could point only in one obvious direction, the succeeding writers may manage to make it point in a direction exactly opposite. And it is here, perhaps, that the game gets more interesting and quite hard to crack. Whether the game will succeed in amusing the innocent readers is mainly for the readers to judge. Each contributor may create any new character but the character must be unique and have a definite bearing in the plot. If one character creates a stammerer, no subsequent writer must make the stammerer speak coherently without a convincing reason behind the sudden miracle. The creator of the thread (Larry Sun) shall write the first chapter, from which other writers will create their own subsequent chapters. Each week, a chapter would be posted and this would give the next writer a full week to prepare the next chapter. A writer, after having contributed a chapter, may not have to contribute any other until after about a month or thereabout, depending on the number of participants in the game. This is an initial thread where I'm hereby soliciting the participation of interested writers. Each writer would have to drop his e-mail address where I'd be able to reach him privately and tell him what chapter he'd be updating and the date he'd post the chapter. Each chapter must be critically checked and made sure it is error-free before getting posted. There, however, shouldn't be any juvenile plotting, jejune dialogue, banal characterization, puerile description, illogical exposition or erratic transition. A minimum of five writers is required or as much as ten or fifteen. This would give a writer enough respite after posting his own chapter. So, after the writers are assembled through e-mail network (that is, every participant would be linked through mail so as for the members to know who would be posting for the week, they could even interact and share ideas via e-mail before the chapters are posted). My job, however, would be to post the first chapter for the others to create their plots from. After all the members have posted their chapters, then the next chapter shall be posted by me and it continues from there. We may have as much as thirty or fifty chapters, depending on the number of participants. A new thread would be created for the story itself, which would be titled Nairaland Writers' Collaboration. Moreso, a stipulated number of words for each chapter (1500words or more) should be strictly acknowledge, and two writers may collaborate to write a single chapter, provided other participants are aware of that and an agreement is made. The following are the current members: 1. Larry-Sun (The Brand Of Cain) 2. Redmosquito (African Nerd) 3. Mynd_44 (The Burning Cold) 4. HumbledbYGrace (Home At Last) 5. Mazi_Omenuko (Diary Of A Sex Addict) 6. Frank3.16 (The Tenth Generation) 7. Efemena_xy (A Collection Of Short Stories By Efe) 8. Ishilove ("The Place Of Rest"-Wasimi Chronicles) 9. Oahray (Patch Of Black) 10. Foxy_Rebirth (The Travails Of A Male Secretary Reloaded) 11. Senbonzakura_kageyoshi (The Day Jonah Became A Fish) 12. VanTee20 13. Sigmundfreud 14. Frosti More writers are still needed to join. So, if you're worthy. Please drop your e-mail address and I shall contact you. I know we've got an abundance of great writers in Nairaland. Thank you, God bless you. |
Redmosquito: Now I can rest in peace! That's scary. |
HBG, not to worry, we'll fix the problem. |
D-deola:I'd rather we even keep the time-table at bay. Why not everyday? The earlier we conclude one book, the earlier we begin another. |
Mynd_44: I am in the middle of some assessment right now but I would love to. I might be able to make it workThanks, bro. Bless you |
sigmundfreud: hello peeps...Okay, Sig. Thanks. You may, perhaps, join when you're free, as the chapters would be updated weekly. |
HumbledbYGrace: ok thenThanks, HBG. Bless you. |
Efemena_xy: Cool thenI shall be creating the first thread (the one about a call to Nairraland writers) in a few minutes' time. I'll just copy and paste what I posted on the complaint thread last night, and add a few info. |
Efemena_xy: Thanks for the encouragement LarryI think it's a good idea. I'm sure that with a few chapters posted up-front, you'd be good to play along. Yes, I'm sure. Carter is a good entertainer...just like Chase ![]() |
Mynd_44: Me a literary giant? Are you in? |
HumbledbYGrace: Ok I'm in..but I think you should finish the sequel first you know. I hate starting something and leaving the other behindThe Paradox will still take a while to finish; do not worry, that one is my personal work and I'm still replotting the plots. This one will be a collective work, one does not disturb the other. Trust me ![]() |
HumbledbYGrace: hmmmm Larry u beat me to this but its all good, I like it. I was thinking we could have one theme and then all interested writers write a short story that they feel connected to, in a form of fiction or true story. Like the short stories that were done by sadc countries on h.I.v and Aids. Thanks, HBG. I understand the one about the short story though, which could still be done. But this one is a little bit more than a short story because each participating writer will have to continue the story from where a particular writer stops (by adding his own chapter). In the end, volumes of chapters would have been written. The writers must have enough imagination to thrill the readers (which I'm sure you've got). I'll be creating the thread later in the day. Good morning, ma'am. Efe, it's alright. The collaboration is going to be based on a fictitious storyline. I'm sure it's going to be fun. Of course, you may watch how it turns out. I wouldn't want to force your hand into doing something with which you aren't familiar. Bless you. And Mynd, I'll like to have you there too (I'm hoping to gather as many Nairaland literary giants as I can ) |
Cuddlemii: Ok.THANKS. |
I see you, Red Moss. ![]() |
Okay Efe, here's out it'll go: I'll create an initial thread where I'm gonna solicit for the participation of interested writers. Each writer would have to drop his e-mail address where I'd be able to reach him privately and tell him what chapter he'd be updating and the date he'd post the chapter. A minimum of five writers is required or as much as ten or fifteen. This would give a writer enough respite after posting his own chapter. We may have as much as thirty or fifty chapters, depending on the number of participants. A new thread would be created for the story itself. However, a stipulated number of words for each chapter must be strictly followed, and two writers may collaborate to write a single chapter, provided other participants are aware of that and an agreement is made. What do you say? |
Shugamania: This is really really deep, sir. Thumbs up.Howdy, Shug? Thanks ![]() |
Efemena_xy: hmmmm....sounds complicatedtrial run? Like creating a first chapter? I need to know if the idea is gonna work first And, I'd be so much delighted if you were in, Efe ![]() |
Hi cuddlemii ![]() I'm not lodging any complaint...yet Pyguru is now my buddy.Instead of the usual nag fit for the thread, I'm lodging an idea and soliciting your (and everybody's) thoughts about it. I want to know if its going to be good or otherwise before I create the thread and make a complete *** of myself. I've been nursing the idea for over a year now and each of the time I've been thinking It'd be great. Okay, I'm beginning to jabber unnecessarily. I'm planning to create a Nairaland Detection Club. It's just like the Lola Story but a little bit more extensive. The Nairaland Detection Club will be a collaboration of Nairaland writers who believe they're up to the task. It may be asked that: What is a Detection Club? It is a private association of writers of detective fiction in Great Britain, existing chiefly for the purpose of eating dinners together at suitable intervals and of talking inimitable plots. Its membership is confined to those who have written genuine stories (published or otherwise). Hence my zeal to create one in Nairaland. Each week, a chapter would be posted and this would give the next writer a full week to prepare the next chapter. A writer, after having contributed a chapter, may not have to contribute any other until after about a month or thereabout, depending on the number of participators in the game. Goodness! I've written more words than could be found in Margaret Mitchell's 'Gone With The Wind'. So, that's it. What do you see about my 'complaint' ?And, Oh...Cud, you're doing a great job moderating this section. Bless you ![]() |
There're ten faces therein. |
HumbledbYGrace: How is aunty gabby? She's pregnant. |
HumbledbYGrace: hw r u doing uncle RichyLOL! Calling me Richy now? Am I as ingenuous? I doubt it. ![]() |
Efemena_xy: Lol! He's rather Mynd's and Mazi's. I think he's being currently being subjected to a durance vile for not completing his homework ![]() |
Damex333: thats why am herePlease don't call me Cain or I'll throw-up. |
In five years' time, the supposed 'Fresh Air' would be sold in Nigeria. Even in traggic jams; like La Casera and 'Viju'. ***Fresh Air, yes?*** |
