Mynd_44: Me too. this is the first time I would play with writing.
Like fire is writing; a good servant but a bad master.

Mynd_44: 3 Years shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked And these guys have been threatening my life cos I said I want to take a lil break due to my schdule
Yeah, three years. But mind you, I was stumped a couple of times because I was still very inexperienced in the art of writing. And the kind of novel I wrote took a mammoth bite from my initially juvenile imagination. I don't think any story will take such a long time for me to write anymore.

Eze Promoe: Thanks. I'm going through it now seriously. Penning down is not as easy as telling stories. When I remember the time it took me to write this one, I'll keep on wondering whether I will finish the story before July. However, I would like it to be suspense filled whereby I'll be receiving bumps of mails for update smiley
Yeah, that's exactly what a good story must be; suspense-filled. It mustn't be devoid of suspense. You need not rush to finish the story. Some novels take years to write. My first book, The Brand Of Cain, took me three years to finish. However, you may set a task for yourself to always write something down each day, even if it's not going to be more than a sentence. Some days, you'll find yourself writing volumes while some you'll encounter some writers' block. But you must keep on writing, do not worry if you think it's crap ( because it will get to a stage that you'll think you're writing a load of balderdash), a personal editing pogrom will help in converting the crap into a masterpiece.

I wish you the best in writing, sir.

God bless you.

Good morning, friends!

LiteratureRe: Literature/Writing Section's "Chat Central!" by LarrySun(m): 12:18am On Feb 06, 2013
Okay, Eze Chima...I just read your excerpt and all I can say is a work blending with an Achebean style. But you need to correct some wrong usage of punctuation marks and a few grammaticals. It appears that you work is being written originally using a past-narrative tchnique. There're many words there which need to be changed from their initial present-tense form to the past. Some other words were sparcely used, where the word which requires to be written in plural are being penned singularly.

I'm sure that when you read it all over again you shall catch the errors.

Above all, it is good work. Kudos.

maclatunji: Hello... this idea is brilliant. However, I think if I love myself (health-wise), I should decline. I am spread so thin that I need to reduce mental tasks. You will agree with me that this is real cerebral activity.

I will love to read and suggest improvements where necessary.

#Goodluck
May God place His hand on you, Mac. Thanks, at least we'll be having you viewing our posts and making necessary corrections. That alone is an honour.

God bless you, sir.

brokoto: in fact everyday posting. Afterall na different writers. Una never reach 10? Ehen? 1 update in 10 days is long enough.tongue
That could be disastrous. It takes some people over twenty-four hours to plot a chapter.
LiteratureRe: Nairaland Detection Club by LarrySun(op): 9:42pm On Feb 05, 2013
Efemena_xy: ^^ That's cool, thanks.

By the way, have you considered shortening the time span between each chapter, to say - 3 or 4 days? Seeing as the number of writers joining in is increasing by the number...

Don't get me wrong o! The dates / rota you've set up for now is excellent, but I'm thinking: What if you do get, say > 30 writers?

Would writers #30 + have to wait 30 ++ weeks before they get to produce their chapters?

Going on that...if we do get 52 writers, then it means that you Larry would have to wait for exactly 1 year to post your 2nd update... grin grin

*** I think I'm really going to enjoy this... *** cool
I think you've got a serious point there, Efe. I've been thinking the same thing too. Three days are also enough time to develop a chapter after the posted one, and readers wouldn't have to wait a week before getting their fresh updates. However, let's hear the views of the other writers and our dear waiting readers grin

Thanks.

Efemena_xy: Larry, what about Maclatunji?

How could I miss him? That's another good writer and I think Detective/crime writing might be just his thing...
I've sent a request to one of his threads. I'll be glad too if he joins.

Mazi_Omenuko: @larry,
Why did you sandwich me between aunty Efe and HBG? Those two intelligent writers will make my chapter look silly and expose any shallowness therein. #...I'm scared!!!#

I wish they switch places though, I would love to write just b4 Efe, introduce some funny *randy* characters and see how she handles themgrin
You may talk to them if you really want to switch places.
And, randy? huh Now I'm flummoxed again.

How many angels can dance on the point of a pin?

How many wings can we count from an exaltation of larks?

When giant are toppled, what hope is there for the midgets?

The day approaches,

And to thou, I'm proposing.

Even the arrow has been sheated in a red quiver,

And my heart bleeds for a lover.

Will Cupid take kindness?

By puncturing my ventricles with mildness?

O! There she sits, my val.

Her skirt billowing, even at the hem.

But my brows are furrowing, given how she reads my poem.

Now I know,

Now I know,

That after many words of love confessed,

With me she is not slightly obsessed.

I have been deceiving myself me,

Thinking the val she'd spend with me.

Go with him, my darling val,

Have fun with your lovely pal.

Lo, I have been too late,

To alter the course of fate.

My val has been claimed,

By that with a faster aim.

I shall be here waiting for you,

Even if Valentine extends till June.
