And if l may add, for "full disclosure", l have nothing against the bank or the person making the allegation. I am not a customer of the bank (l dont mind doing business with them in future as they are one of he banks l respect), l am just interested in knowing the truth about the allegations. If the network of the bank went down, thats not enough "evidence" to say it is in financial distress or that they deliberately did it to avoid pay-outs, after-all, one of my banks, GTBank, has their network down since 5:30pm Thursday but l am sure there is nothing like distress in their dictionary (l was doing an online transaction when the thingy just threw-out error and up till this moment, its yet to come-up though they promptly reverted to our good-old "manual" on Friday ), but just like we customers always ask for "respect and transparency", l was expecting they would send us a 'text message' saying they are sorry for the inconvenience such "network outage" might have caused us! , am still waiting for such text!!My suggestion to GTBank is that they should adopt better "best practices" by implementing better "disaster-prevention & recovery measures", if one Web-Server goes down, what is the crime if you have two fail-over Servers, online and in stand-by mode? I just hope its not the April fool Virus (Confica) that did the damage!! Wish 'my Bank' quick recovery sha, over to you, InterContinental. |
Nigerians have a reputation for attacking personalities, instead of focusing on the "issue at stake" and that is what we have been seeing in most of the comments on this issue. We tend to dwell excessively on sentiments rather than seek-out facts! This matter is not about bringing 'InterContinental Bank' down, its not about Erastus, neither should it be about the Dayo of a person; It should be about "Right/Wrong", "Truth and Lies". We must develop the mindset of looking at issues dispassionately and objectively. The Public, especially Nigerians, deserve to know the truth and nothing but the truth and dont even fool yourself into thinking those allegations are 'right' or even 'false', only detailed and unbiased investigation (like those being conducted by the likes of SaharaReporters), devoid of personal interest and sentiments, need rear its head as the issue runs its course. All the noise, especially by some misguided and mis-firing staff (imagine the kind of "Grammar" ) All those mis-directed noise are not only diversionary, they tend to re-enforce the "negative rumor" this allegation has created. The Bank is completely innocent until proven guilty and that burden of proof lies with the 'Dayo Coker' that is making the allegation otherwise, the Bank must sue for "Libel and defamation". Let not the "sympathizers, the fire + brimstone prayer warriors" cry more than the bereaved; we understand that the bank butters their bread but that should not be anyone's primary concern. Getting to the root of the allegation, whether True or False, based on FACTS, should be the primary objective of anyone that loves this country. Thats my two cent sha |
