You obviously live in a slum or a ghetto in Lagos, that is why you are familiar with eating from a roadside canteen or cafeteria. You are here trying to pretend that the state capitals in your own region do not have area boys, touts, street urchins or cults that operate under the cover of darkness, and in broad daylight? Should I pull up posts of different encounters people have had with touts and agberos in the South-East? MEILYN: Why you think I beg Yoruba boys to be my friends is appalling. Lol, the opposite is the case. To be honest, Yoruba boys in this part of Lagos tend to influence boys like me in bad ways. Had I moved with Yoruba boys from a very young age I would have been a nuisance. Their attitude and way of life is not something I would like to admire.
I only associate with people who add value and no Yoruba boy in my area has ever showed such sign.
Now, I don't think I will reply you anymore. I know you to be a trouble maker. Is it by force to have a Yoruba friend? Like I said earlier, I relate with Yorubas on street level, there's no personal relationship in anyway.
Ohhhh, my sister's husband and I are friends because we are family.
2 of my sisters got married to Yoruba men and I relate with only one. The other guy and I have nothing to talk about .
3 of my sisters got married to Igbo men and we relate very well. They add value to my life, period!
I was born in Lagos and I don't even understand Yoruba, even the simplest Yoruba. That tells you I don't have Yoruba friends. Continue, telling us your tall tales and disjointed stories. We are watching and laughing silently at your attempt to deceive yourself, especially as it is quite clear, that you cannot deceive the rest of us.

MEILYN: Relax, I don't have anything to gain by lying. I know you to be a trouble maker but I will leave all that aside and explain to you.
This isn't a tribe thing, I don't really care about tribe before I relate with people, I relate with people on individual basis. I am an introvert, I don't really keep friends or show myself too much. I relate with Igbo boys more because there's almost an instant connection between me and Igbo boys.
All the Yoruba boys think I feel too big and I must say they have their reasons for not wanting to associate with me. And lastly, they don't share my ideas and many of them aren't in my line of business, the very few who are in my line are very selfish with information, they think you would take over their business when they share information with you. This is something an Igbo guy wouldn't care about. He would share information with his friends without being afraid. He's not afraid of competition.
The only Yoruba friend I have is my sister's husband, great guy. I'm not the type who would come to your house to stay or speak with you on the road for a very long time. I'm always minding my business. Of course, I know few Yoruba guys at street level. We greet and that's the end, there's no strong relationship or business partnership.
Igbos on the other hand relate with me really well. Both on business level and friendship level. They share ideas and they always help in my business life. Everybody loves anyone who adds value. And to be honest, I don't really keep close friendship with anyone who doesn't add value to me.
I don't want to sound tribalistic, but I think Igbos share my thoughts. I love people who would ginger my spirits because I'm lazy when it's comes to making money. I have all the brains in the world to make money but I am always content at a certain point, my Igbo friends make me realize no amount of money is too big. I need people who would talk sense into my head and advice me to work really hard to make it in life. I must say Igbos do this job very well and that's why I relate with them.
Sorry to Yoruba people, I don't have a personal hate for Yorubas. I think they are a great people but it's not my fault that I don't have any Yoruba friend. Maybe in the future God might provide a Yoruba friend for me and that will be a very great thing..
Lastly, I have dated just one Yoruba girl in my entire life and the relationship didn't last at all (Reason is confidential). All the girls I have dated are Igbos, I have strong love for Imo girls and Igbo food as well. So that explains it all. You wrote a long epistle in response, just because you wanted to buttress your lies? You claimed to have lived in Lagos all your life, but you do not have a Yoruba friend. Then you said: "The only Yoruba friend I have is my sister's husband, great guy." I thought you said you didn't have any Yoruba friends earlier? What peculiar habit or offensive trait in you, did they see that made it impossible for the Yoruba people in Lagos, to be your friend? Provide the answer in 5 words or less.... |

Olukoye Edu is a scion of the well-known Edu family, whose patriarch Shafi Lawal Edu (S.L Edu) passed away, in 2002. He studied law and is currently a Managing Partner in Jackson, Etti & Edu, one of Nigeria’s leading law firms, which provides a wide range of specialist legal services in its practice areas, to international and local clients. Koye Edu founded Moorhouse Properties Limited and serves as its Executive Director. His firm also owns the Travel House Budget Hotels’ which is the first branded chain of comfort budget hotels, in Nigeria. In addition to its currently existing lodging facilities in Lagos, Ibadan etc., the company intends to open 19 new locations over the next few years. Along with his partner Gbolahan Balogun, Edu jointly owns the Moorhouse Sofitel hotel, in Lagos and JDI Investments (owners of Novotel Hotel, Port Harcourt). His company got a loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop luxury hotels within Nigeria, due to their track record of transparency, business acumen and integrity. Koye Edu along with his partner signed a deal with Accor Hotels, the French multinational resort group which own Sofitel brand of luxury hotels, mixing the best local culture and cuisine, to manage his range of hotels. IFC provided a $2.5 million loan and quasi-equity investment of up to $1.5 million in the form of preferred shares, to construct Edu's new hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The new $13.1 million 124-room 4-star Novotel will provide reasonably priced hotel rooms for workers, investors, and other business travelers. The new hotel will alleviate mid-week room shortages in a market where demand is expected to grow as new investments flow into the region. It will also diversify business tourism facilities, contribute to Port Harcourt’s emergence as a business center for the oil industry, and lead to more hotel investment as existing hotel accommodation improves to meet competition and generate demand for services and supplies. The hotel will create approximately 140 direct jobs.
The sponsor is JDI Investment Company Limited, a Nigerian company owned by Messrs. Koye Edu and Gbolahan Balogun through Moorhouse Properties Ltd. The hotel will be managed by the Accor Group, one of the largest hotel networks in the world, which operates approximately 3,200 hotels in over 140 countries under a variety of brand names, including Sofitel, Novotel, Ibis, Thalassa, Motel 6, etc. http://ifcext.ifc.org/ifcext/pressroom/ifcpressroom.nsf/1f70cd9a07d692d685256ee1001cdd37/c77a43ccad938c2a85256a7d0053b5f4

Gotze1: You keep shouting rewriting history up and down, if you know he rewrite history, prove him wrong by saying ransome kuti did not lead aba women. The late Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti led the Egba Women's Riot in Abeokuta in 1947. The riots led to the dethronement of the Alake of Egbaland at that time, in 1949. It was actually a series of mass protests which were completely nonviolent, and wrongly classified as riots or a revolt. The protests were caused by the system of taxation adopted by the Abeokuta Sole Native Authority under the leadership of the king of Abeokuta - Alake Ladipo Ademola, which the women found extremely strict and stifling. Under his regime, girls were expected to pay tax from 5 years of age, while wives were separately taxed from their husbands, irrespective of their incomes. https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/226116/funmilayo-ransome-kuti-and-the-abeokuta-women-riots.html |

https://winmaxsolutions.com/images/forte_oil_logo.pngWhile Femi Otedola is seen as a successful oil czar, his admirers do not realise that success did not just fall into his laps, but it took a lot of hard work and challenges, for him to make a headway in business. https://pageone.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/otedola.jpghttps://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs4326117/9319725594-w900-h600/Pulse-Femi-Otedola-DJ-Cuppy.jpgSeveral years back, Otedola was the second largest shareholder in the downstream oil firm, Texaco. But his plans to buy the company was cut short, when MRS Oil beat him to it and took over the oil company's assets. He retreated and focused more on the diesel market by setting up his own company, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited. It turned out to be a great business decision. He also set up a logistics arm with a fleet of trucks and named it F.O Transport. With just one stroke, he took control of the entire chain. He later went further to diversify into property and a number of other large companies. It all paid off. https://i0.wp.com/s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/leadersandco/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/08230008/Forte-Oil.jpg?fit=700%2C321&ssl=1https://punchng.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/03140130/Forte-Oil.jpgHe now has a downstream oil firm in Ghana, known as AP Oil & Gas Ghana Limited (APOG) and also owns Forte Upstream Services Limited (formerly African Petroleum Oilfield Services -APOS) which operates in the upstream petroleum services sector. At one time he was listed as owing Nigerian banks, millions of US dollars. The shares of his company's stock plummeted, and he fell off the list of Africa's richest businessmen. https://goldfirenigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/1131.jpg https://www.forteoilplc.com/images/banner_gas.jpgOtedola reshuffled his finances and paid off every cent, according to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). The rise in net worth was helped by a spike in the share price of his company, Forte Oil where he owns an 80% shareholding. In 2015, he sold a 17 per cent stake in Forte Oil Plc to Mercuria Energy Group, a Swiss privately held international commodity trading company active over a wide spectrum of global energy markets, for about $200 million USD. Today, Femi Otedola, owns a $53.5-million home in the heart of the exclusive Knightsbridge neighbourhood, in London. He also has a fleet of customised Rolls Royce cars in London, and a fleet of Mercedes cars & SUVs in Nigeria, together worth about $7.7 million. He may have made a small slice of history by making a billion, losing it and clawing it back. Yet he learnt a valuable lesson through it all. He may have burned his fingers, but now he is humble and bouncing back - much wiser than ever before. https://theeagleonline.com.ng/femi-otedola-the-billionaire-who-bounced-back-by-forbes/https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ChI-9bWWUAAEkL-.png https://image.slidesharecdn.com/forteoilannualreport2015-170222133707/95/forte-oil-annual-report-2015-13-638.jpg?cb=1487771530“While my competitors were sleeping, I was busy strategizing. I was liberal too. My strategy was; high volume, little margin. I was very excited at this point. However, I knew that at some point the government would fix the power issue (diesel is mainly used for generators during power cut) and I needed to move a step forward,” he said.
In what proved a wise move to cushion the business, Otedola's firm Zenon, bought a 28.7% stake in the African Petroleum. Zenon invested aggressively across the financial sector becoming the second largest shareholder in Zenith Bank, largest individual shareholder at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and many more banks in Nigeria, as banks sought share capital, following a new directive from the reserve bank, many approached Otedola. He rolled the dice in the knowledge he was playing safe.
Then, the worst happened – the crude oil prices plunged from $146 to $36 in 2008.
“We took a very big hit and I lost about %1.5 million, plus interest, in the process. When the oil prices were dropping, I saw it all coming. I could see myself losing big money. I had diesel worth $400 million on the high seas. It didn’t look good. I’m a capitalist though. It was great, while the money was rolling in. Now that I lost so much, it was also time to face the tune.
It was a very low time for me and I explored different options, including suicide, but ultimately, I knew I had to solve this problem. My debts had to be paid.”
“The same banks that had once sent pretty sales ladies to get money from me for their accounts in the past, were now sending tough looking men to knock at my door to get me to pay my debts in the morning."
He had also started selling his bank shares, before the big plunge. It dragged on for four years. “The most important lesson I learnt, is that no one is invincible. No matter how high up there you are today, you can lose it all tomorrow if you’re not on top of your game."
In the restructuring, Africa Petroleum became Forte Oil. “I then brought in a crop of fresh young talented guys to take over. I wanted fresh, brilliant minds and ideas. I wanted to build an institution based on the best corporate governance practices; a whole new direction.” https://theeagleonline.com.ng/femi-otedola-the-billionaire-who-bounced-back-by-forbes/ https://www.forteoilplc.com/admin/ckfinder/userfiles/images/Visco%202000%20flier.jpg https://www.forteoilplc.com/admin/ckfinder/userfiles/images/FO%20Synth%2010000%20new%20advert.jpghttps://www.bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Forte-Oil-Unveils-Tiwa-Savage-as-Amnbassador-and-Launches-New-Package-BellaNaija-February2014008-600x398.jpg

Many people know Olufemi Otedola as the Nigerian billionaire, who has his hands firmly entrenched in the oil sector. But what most folks do not know, is that he is also a big player in the power generation industry as well. His subsidiary known as Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited (Amperion Power) acquired the majority stake in the 435MW Geregu Power Plant located in Kogi State of Nigeria, under the government-led privatization programme in the power sector. Amperion Power tied up a partnership arrangement with the State Grid Corporation of China, one of the world's largest utility company, as its technical partner. The Geregu Power Plant was commissioned in 2007 with three Siemens V94.2 open cycle gas turbine power generation units, totaling 414MW of installed capacity. Each of the 3 units have a rated capacity of 138MW each. The station is supplied with natural gas from two pipelines, a 24-inch wide old pipeline and 36-inch wide 136 KM long new pipeline from the Natural Gas Treatment Plant. These are able to satisfy the gas requirements of 3 units running on a full load of 435MW. The name Geregu is derived from the host local community of the power plant located in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State in the North Central area of Nigeria. In addition to these assets, Femi Otedola owns Forte Oil Plc, an indigenous energy company, which has over 500 fuel retail stations located nationwide, and a petroleum products fuel depot with a storage capacity of 147,000 metric tonnes. Forte Oil Plc used to be known as African Petroleum Plc., until govt divested itself of its shares in 2007. He also owns SeaForce Shipping Company, which is said to control one of the largest shipping fleets, in the country. The Geregu Plant is a 414MW gas plant (3 x 138MW, Open Cycle gas turbines) located in Geregu, near Ajaokuta in Kogi State. Its expected productivity is 90%. The plant was commissioned in 2007 and was meant to boost electricity generation in the country.
PRIVATIZATION: In 1999, the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) began an aggressive restructuring of the power sector, with several aims, including introduction of efficient, private sector standards and management principles, and methodology, leading to reliable power. In 2001, the FGN approved a National Electric Power Policy (NEPP), followed in 2005 by the Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) Act.
EPSR Act provides the legal authority for the unbundling of Nigeria’s power utility as well as the introduction of a new, regulatory scheme managed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), an independent regulatory commission, to guarantee open access and ensure efficiency throughout the industry.
Outright sale option was adopted by the Bureau for Public Enterprises in the sale of Geregu phase I which was culminated on the 1st of November 2013. The new owners are Amperion Power Ltd. http://iwin.org.ng/index.php/news/itemlist/category/179-generation-company-genco
