..... If Biafra will not be allowed to be then we all as a people need to sit down and chart a new course that will swerve this direction of empowering a particular region (Northwest especially) from being too powerful above other region. The presidential system is too expensive to run in this country. The igbos must be given a chance to aspire to emerge future president of a united Nigeria. Diversification of means of income in Nigeria must be roundly exploited and bit just existing on pages of dailies and many more anomalies. These are not too much to ask for! Thanks

Do you realize that to deepen the conspiracy and create confusion, the then Biafran appointed administrator of Midwest called Gowon to warn him about a fake assassination plot (supposedly planned by Banjo and his group). It was an anonymous call and Lagos took it seriously; mounting roadblocks and checkpoints as counter measure.

When this same administrator was later asked why he warned Gowon (after all his assassination would have profited Biafra), he claimed he issued the warning because there was supposed to be meeting of Heads of States of African countries and he saw that as the best opportunity for the support for Biafra. This coming after Biafra had invaded Midwest and was pushing toward Lagos. Now, tell me how this makes sense. Only irrational folk of a certain stock can make sense out of this.
Bro,' only God can make sense of the mindset of this people. sad They seem to thrive on illogicality. These are the same people that will insult and vilify other ethnic groups, forgetting that no one has a monopoly of swear words, bile and insults. And if you want to be honest and truthful, it is actually a number of indigenes who come from that area, that keep trying to dissociate themselves from Igbo, by claiming they are Ika and not Igbo. It is not outsiders, that say they are not Igbo. sad So what fake point are you trying to prove, here?

The problem with Nigeria started with the youths and that's why the elders of today are afraid to relinquished power to youths, so that what happened in the 60s won't repeat itself. I didnt bother to read up the rubbish you wrote there more than once cos I know u won't make a well informed argument. Honestly, if you've not read about the Onne port concessioning and complains by governors and importers about high charges there, then I don't have anything really to tell you.

Atiku isn't cheating anyone. That was the agreement they had during the concession. Many governors business men have talked and taken actions to protest in the past but then it's a Private business and that's the only way he can make the money he invested in the project. Now don't get the impression that the port isn't working to full capacity , it is. A lot of Industries are sited in the one Onne as a result of Seaport there, but these companies are oil and gas related cos they can convienently meet the charges there, and don't forget this port was even built for them in the First place. I can't really remember but the agreement is something like 50:50 blw the coy and the government till the end of the deal. Attempting to cast aside this agreement will only chase away future investors from that Industry.

on the other hand the Apapa port is a govt port and and due to reasons known by the government (or sheer ineptitude) the other three ports were closed ( warri, PH ports( not Onne) , Calabar ports) to reduce the influx of imported goods into the country ( so I heard) , and in all honesty every economic activity in Nigeria depends on importation for survival. The surge of Industries in Lagos and Ogun isn't cos those are only possible states to site them but cos of

1. proximity to seaport ( to bring heavy machinery and equipment: they won't import heavy machinery and transport them via road 500km inland. No investor does that)
2. Access to air. (MMA).

My bro, you have a problem with us; we whine and talk propaganda... Perhaps the problem is with you. You sit in your part of the country and barely aware of anything outside Lagos and Ibadan ( and maybe Abuja ) and claim to know everything about the rest of Nigeria. Truth is you know nothing!!! Do you listen to Radio stations in the Niger Delta? No!. Do you listen to Radio stations in the South East? No. Do you even read news Paper content from the areas? No! Have u even spent a year outside your part of Nigeria? No!
Yet somehow you think we haven't explored the right channels to check these imbalances. That's why I popped the intial question, "You think we haven't thought of them?"

It's easy to claim strength when your strength hasn't been tested. Do have a good day.
You didn't read it, and yet you wrote this long epistle in response to my earlier remarks? shocked Hehehe..... see how you just ridiculed yourself. cheesy Thank God everyone can read. And they can all see how your response has been filled with aspersions, and illogical deductions. Now you are blaming the Lagos-Ibadan press, for not providing enough news about your region. And you are assuming that I have not lived in other parts of the country, including your own region. huh Assumption is the mother of all fvck-ups, and you just fvcked up big time.

Then you showed how clueless you were by claiming that: "due to reasons known by the government (or sheer ineptitude) the other three ports were closed ( warri, PH ports( not Onne) , Calabar ports) to reduce the influx of imported goods into the country ( so I heard) , and in all honesty every economic activity in Nigeria depends on importation for survival." You claimed the ports were closed to reduce importation...... 'so you heard.' Did you verify if there was any truth in what you heard, before jumping in here to rehash this illogical rant? huh

When importation takes place, customs duties and taxes are paid. Does the govt not make gains from such fees? shocked Why would entire ports be closed down to stop importation, when such items can just be banned or overtaxed to make its importation highly unfavourable and uncompetitive?

I have lived in many parts of the Southwest, & the Middle-belt. I also served in the South-east. I spent part of my career moving all over the South-south, working for a major telco.I have shared a few experiences on various threads on this forum. The only area where I have not spent an appreciable length of time, is the far North. And I intend to rectify that soon. Now, can you see how wrong you were in your earlier assumptions?

Again, I repeat, you have not thought of the right way to redress the issues you have encountered at Onne, as there is no proof that your people have done anything to take the bull by the horn, and get their elected representatives at all levels, to fight this battle on their behalf. sad I even cited instances of where people have compelled even govt to rescind unfavourable decisions. But in your characteristic egotistic manner, you chose to overlook it. undecided

Yes, Atiku has spent money building Onne. undecided But nothing gives him the right to disenfranchise a portion of the citizenry from using the facilities there, by quoting outrageous charges. If you still believe that nothing can be done to rectify the issue, then please keep quiet and lick your wounds in silence. Stop wailing & castigating those whose region have been blessed with functional seaports. sad

I am quite sure if importers from other major ethnic groups had been in the shoes of your people, they would have found a way to resolve the situation with the owners of Onne seaport, instead of lamenting online. Chikena! sad

The problem I have with most people on Nairaland is they talk like they don't know the country they are in.
Oga you talk like you don't know Nigeria! Atiku invested Billions in Onne. And he's making his money back through intels and basically controlling all coys in Onne Industrial zone.

The bill for devolution of powers how did it go? You dey talk like say na Germany u dey! "let your senators blablabla......, negotiate terms with blablabla" You really think they haven't thought of that?

The only thing that can happen in this case is if another port is built by more patient private individuals or a state gvt like in the case of Akwa Ibom and the Ibaka seaport. And getting funds or loans from private investors to build a port in the Niger Delta is difficult cos it's not as commercialised as Lagos. LASG can easily get funds externally to fund projects of nearly any size cos lots of people will be willing to invest in an already made economy.
You see, this is where I get fed up with your people. sad They know how to complain, they know how to whine, and they know how to create & circulate propaganda. But do they know how to go through the proper channels and tweak the system to get what they want? No!

You are here online blasting Atiku, yet your Senators and House of Assembly members have failed to do their jobs, by bringing the perpetrators of such unfavourable policies at Onne to book and debating their actions, in order to cause them to review such actions for your benefit. undecided

You just asked: "You really think they haven't thought of that?" huh And my answer to you is where is the proof that they thought of it? shocked Why didn't they take action if they thought about it?

Wasn't it in this Nigeria, specifically Lagos where the whole Lekki-Epe expressway was concessioned to one company, and 3 toll-gates were meant to be built on it? They built the 1st one, and people protested. A lawyer named Ebun Adegboruwa rose up and took the state govt to court. He was witch-hunted by the same state govt, and the CofO for his personal house was almost revoked. At the end of the day, the plan to build 3 toll-gates was shelved in favour of just 1 toll-gate. In fact, the 2nd toll-gate they built, could not be used till date. sad

Were you not in this country, when MKO Abiola was killed, without him realising his mandate? huh What happened? shocked People from his ethnic group and others from different tribes, formed a coalition, lobbied, demonstrated and worked assidously behind the scenes, to get another man from Abiola's ethnic group into the Presidency. And the power brokers had to bring Obasanjo from prison to become president in a space of several months. Did Abiola's kinsmen just wring their hands and complain online, without taking concrete steps? No! angry

So why do your people prefer to wave the banner of propaganda instead of taking practical, logical steps? shocked If your Senators & co, summon Atiku & his company Intels to the National Assembly, to accuse them of working against non-oil importers, and also compel them to provide ways of ensuring that non-oil importers are not disenfranchised from using Onne port because of high charges, don't you think the press and other arms of the media would have a field day, in exposing Intels tactics, and whipping up public opinion in favour of your importers? huh Don't you think out of shame and a desire to avoid damage to their reputation, such a company would backtrack? Make una check am, nah! shocked
