Maintenance culture, Efe. The Onne port died a natural death. That of Warri is sure out of place but then again, it wouldn't take long to see it crippled should the FG work on it again.

And here's the gospel truth, the port in an economical viable state would receive more patronage than that which is not considered viable enough. So it is only normal that most would abandon Warri port for Lagos', save for those who intend to move to other states.

About Ogun State, believe me, you're very wrong. Ogun has more companies than what you would find at the Industrial layout in Lagos, and this is not because of Lagos. Ogun has limestone in abundance besides the regular manufacturing company.

Lagos is a metropolis, no matter how many working ports we have, people would still relocate to do business there since there are influx of people there.

Oyo's IGR beats most state's IGR around, including a couple of the South East and some core South states.

Everything is working well for Lagos because Ambode, built on the foundation Fashola made through the struggle of BAT, while Ibikunle Amosun enjoys as a sister state. Everything is special about Ogun state. Everything is.

Besides, we are yet to mention entertainment, one which Lagos controls like no other. Metropolis are never decongested no matter how hard you try.
Onne port is not dead at all. It is still very much alive. It receives oil & gas cargoes on a regular basis. The only problem is that the importers from the SE refuse to use it for non-oil imports. They are attached to Lagos ports...

Open up the seaports in Rivers, Delta, Cross River state and see if the VAT will not increase, the Lagos we see is because of the see ports and the airport, there's nothing special about Lagos, all the. Coastal states had same value both they neglected them and focused only on Lagos, but if the Govt should open up all the ports in the Niger Delta, you would experience a lot of growth.
Maka gini? shocked Why do you people like recycling these lies? Who closed Port-harcourt and Calabar ports? huh Calabar port only needs dredging, to accommodate bigger vessels. At least, Onne port is still very functional and effective, but your Igbo businessmen have refused to use it, because they prefer Lagos ports. Biko, how is that the fault of Lagosians and the rest of the SW??

Group To Sensitise Importers, Others On Eastern Ports | July 31, 2017 | The TIDE Newspapers |

The Maritime Energy Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MEMPON), has said that it would embark on sensitisation campaign to educate importers, agents and industrialists on the need to patronise the Eastern Ports.

National President of MEMPON, Dr Ralph John, who disclosed this in his address during a summit organised by the association in Port Harcourt recently, said such campaign would be carried in major business environments and markets.

Some of the places he earmarked for the sensitisation campaign are the popular Ariaria Market in Aba and Ochanja market in Onitsha, Anambra State and other avenues to woo importers to Eastern Ports. The MEMPON leader, however, called for synergy among operators and media practitioners in the maritime and energy sector so as to upgrade and develop businesses in the sectors.

The four ports that made up the Eastern Ports are Port Harcourt port complex, Onne port, the Warri port and Calabar ports. http://www.thetidenewsonline.com/2017/07/31/group-to-sensitise-importers-others-on-eastern-ports/

Luxxor Gas develops a second CNG Mother Station

Having commenced the development of the largest private CNG Mother Station in Africa, a mighty 30,000 standard cubic metre per hour (scm/hr) designed production volume, in Ogijo, Ogun State, LuxxorGas has embarked on a new CNG Mother Station in Ota, Ogun State.

The development of the new CNG Mother Station with a production volume of 15,000scm/hr gives LuxxorGas a competitive advantage in the CNG industry, by potentially obtaining natural gas from two different gas suppliers; Shell Nigerian Gas and Nigerian Gas Company. This greatly increases the integrity of our gas distribution and gives our current and potential customers the peace of mind to confidently focus on their core competencies without having to worry about gas supply.

Having progressed through a rigorous three-round selection progress, from some good local competition LuxxorGas were selected as one of the two preferred partners to supply Compressed Natural Gas to the Lekki Free Zone Development Company (LFZDC), for its 12MW Power Station Project.

Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) will cover a total area of 16,500 hectares and is located in the Lekki Peninsula, about 60 km to the east of the city centre of Lagos. The Phase I Development of LFTZ, named as “China‐Nigeria Economic & Trade Cooperation Zone” (CNETCZ) covers approximately 1000 hectares (ha.), of which 780 ha. will be developed by the China‐Nigeria Joint Venture ‐ Lekki Free Zone Development Company (“LFZDC”). http://luxxorgas.com/news.php

Some comments here are just what some guys in third class and 2'2 need to console themselves. We cant rid ourselves of the fact that a lot of people in 2'2 can perform better than those in 2'1 but you guys shouldn't make it look like some of us in the 2'1 begged for it or stole our way through it. If ur self esteem is lowered cuz u don't have a 2'1 don't make those with it feel as if u are wishing them your situation. I am not against anyone. I am just trying to say in our comparisons, we should do that constructively abeg. Haba
Guy, you need to re-read these comments again with an open mind. sad Nobody is saying anything to make people with 2.1 grades feel bad, or to make it look as if they begged for it. And nobody is trying to console those with 2.2 grade or 3rd class. undecided Some of us are just saying it as it is. It has nothing to do with lowering anyone's self-esteem.

In fact, if you arrive in the workplace with an egocentric attitude, or some kind of hyped-up 'esteem,' you will end up falling flat on your face, because it can constitute a barrier to your growth. Humility is a key asset, they don't teach you in business school or at undergrad level, but it is something you need to learn & imbibe, as you move up in the corporate world. sad

I do not know how much work experience you have, but I would like to believe you may not have had much, by way of experience. After working in 4 different continents for about 3 different multinational corporations, the truth I have discovered is that after you scale the hurdle of getting in, what matters most is your ability to deliver & execute prescribed tasks & assignments, as well as how you use your initiative, skills and knowledge to solve problems and provide sustainable solutions, and not really your class of degree. sad

Meeting your deliverables within allotted time schedules, and ensuring those deliverables are in sync with corporate objectives, so it improves the company's bottom line, is what it is all about. sad The question to ask yourself is this: apart from my degree, what value am I going to be adding to the company? huh

Your transgressions are well documented. It didn't start here. You dont hate IPOB,that's just a weak attempt to cover your senseless hate towards the Igbo ethnic group. You are everywhere spreading hate,I see you in the the culture section, politics and everything that has ethnic undertone on it.

I thought you were just a hate monger but I will add LIAR to that...If you are gonna be online spewing bile do it courageously and own up to it. Nobody can make you do what you don't want to do. A lot of my brothers equally have the RETARDED mentality of a hate MONGER like you but most of them don't stick around....But ,you,my NIGGA is consistent with your act which reveals a more serious mentally defect.

How can somebody spend most of his time online fighting ethnic war and spreading hate but you get upset when IPOBS call Nigeria a Zoo? ? Does most Nigerians not behave like ANIMALS ,reason why the country is not moving to any direction. You are busy and bent on fighting ethnic war but you don't see the big picture. Open your mind and see the light....There is no difference between you and those ignorant IPOBS who are running around insulting every body. You are not better than them, just on the other side of the fence. You are a typical example of the reason why black people will remain inferiors. Match on,internet soldier!
Ehen, I expected you to respond with this kind of illogical rant and you did not disappoint me. sad You obviously have selective amnesia, so you pretended not see the insulting remarks and lies, that your brethren posted in their responses to my comments. Those who initiate and fight ethnic wars online, are your folks. The rest of us merely respond to them in kind. shocked Now why do you still find it so hard to understand? huh

I guess you belong to that school of thought that believes the perpetrators of hate should be ignored because they come from your ethnic group, while those who respond in kind to their antics, should be vilified! shocked Sorry bro,', I will not turn the other cheek, so that you and your ilk can feel good. If that offends you, too bad! We can all see how your response was launched in true IPOB fashion, full of hate and fury, signifying nothing! sad

But I guess you are too myopic to see that. sad Now, please take your own advice: "Open your mind and see the light....There is no difference between you and those ignorant IPOBS who are running around insulting every body. You are not better than them, just on the other side of the fence. You are a typical example of the reason why black people will remain inferiors." undecided This remark describes you so well. Wow!! shocked Clap for yourself.

If you like, buy 10 whole reams of A4 bond paper to document any real and imaginary transgressions you can see through your clouded mind. That is your own business. Mister, I have a question for you. I have been silently watching you for years here and I have noticed your innate hatred for the Igbo ethnic group, though you claimed to not be a Yoruba.
Now,my question is WHAT IS REALLY WRONG WITH YOU ? Are you mentally sick or what ? You spend the greater portion of your time on the net fermenting and spreading hate against a group who share a country with you. There is definitely something wrong somewhere with you, psychologically. A normal human being doesn't behave like this....You live a life of hate and that is disturbing. You need to review your lifestyle. Good morning.
I do not hate Igbos. I hate IPOB. angry And I have explained the reasons for my stance in so many threads. They use hate speech, spew bile, vilify whole ethnic groups, and launch derogatory remarks against anyone who does not share their view. And if anyone does that to me, I reply them in kind, using the same coin. Abi, na who be mumu? shocked

Someone is telling blatant lies on this thread, and even used the words 'ancestral madness' in his response to my post, but you conveniently did not see that, I guess. Or did you just choose to ignore it? sad Do you expect me to clap for him? Instead you took up your keyboard to ask who is mentally sick? Maybe you are referring to your own self, or your fellow Igbo brother that has been churning out deceit on this thread. Who knows? So Oga, direct your question to the guy who responded to my earlier post. undecided Your people are experts at spreading hate. Others like me, merely respond to them in the same vein or pay them back in their own coin. Simple. undecided

Now, kindly get the fvck off my mentions if you have nothing of value to add. Thank you! angry

GoldNiagara:
An Address Delivered By Chief Obafemi Awolowo On The Occasion Of His Installation As The First Chancellor Of The University Of Ife At Ile-Ife On Monday 15 May 1967
YOUR EXCELLENCIES, YOUR HIGHNESSES, MY LORDS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”
Today, my heart overflows with profound gratitude to God Who has made it possible for me to be in this gathering, and to play in it the historic role of the first Chancellor of this most promising University.
By ordinary human calculations, I was not due to regain my freedom until 11 May 1969 – that is, two calendar years minus four days from today, or a little less than three calendar years from the date of my release from prison on August 3, last year. But by the Grace of God, and the divine agency of Lt. Col. Yakubu Go won, Head of the Federal Military Government, here stand I, in the midst of you, as the principal figure of this memorable occasion.

My thanks, therefore, go very deep to Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon, the late Lt. Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, Col. Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, Military Governor of Western Nigeria, the Chairman and Members of the Provisional Council of the University of Ife, for the parts which they have severally played in making the early restoration of my personal liberty and my installation here this morning as the titular head of this reputable seat of learning, the accomplished facts of which all of you are undoubted witnesses. It is not generally known that, apart from labouring for my release up to the time of his death, and apart from gallantly and heroically laying down his life for his military superior and friend, Lt. Col. Adekunle Fajuyi became, in his death, an unpremeditated ransom for my redemption.
Who was the clown who said that Awolowo was released from prison by Ojukwu? shocked See the man saying it in black & white, that it was Gowon who released him from jail, o! Abi, will a man not know who signed the order for his release again? And his tribute to Fajuyi is so touching.... cry May the souls of both great men, rest in peace.

GoldNiagara:
I will go further and say that, after she shall have survived her present paroxysm, Nigeria has need to make a leap over a quarter-of-a-century, if she is to satisfy the legitimate yearnings of her teeming peoples. After very careful consideration, I have no doubt in my mind that this feat of social rocketry is feasible, provided that Science is the booster and the Humanities the controllers. It is for this reason that I regard as enlightened and farsighted the University’s plan to reverse, within the next five years or so, the present approximate ratio of 2 : 3, in respect of students doing science and non-science subjects.
Sadly, Nigerian authorities did not take his advice to make this quantum leap. sad Many of his political successors became content with mediocrity. But a few listened to the latter part of his words, when the intake of science students to the arts in most public universities, was doubled in the '80s. But too little of it was done, a little too late.

GoldNiagara:
It is my ambition that the University of Ife – and indeed every other University in Nigeria for that matter – should be reasonably independent financially. It is incompatible with and subversive of the academic independence of a University for its Council and Vice-Chancellor, now and again, to go cap-in-hand to beg for funds from the Government, especially when such Government is controlled by a political party.
Again, Awo was right. But till today, very few public universities have been able to achieve this status of financial independence. Most of them still depend on govt for every little thing. And the day the govt withholds their subventions, their academic and financial obligations & goals, are crippled. When will our public universities be able to surmount these challenges, to some extent? undecided

GoldNiagara:
Whether we are conscious of or acknowledge it or not, the fact remains stubborn and indestructible that poverty, disease, social unrest and instability, and all kinds of international conflict, have their origins in the minds of men. Unless we tackle and remove, or at the very least minimize, these evils at their source, all our efforts in Nigeria to bring about happier circumstances for our peoples, and all the endeavours of mankind to evolve a better world, would be completely in vain. It is only when the minds of men have been properly and rigorously cultivated and garnished, that they can be safely entrusted with public affairs with a certainty and assuredness that they will make the best of their unique opportunity and assignment....

The cardinal aim of every academic discipline is to develop the power to think – clearly, correctly, and scientifically.
According to Haddock –
“The power to think, consecutively and deeply and clearly, is an avowed and deadly enemy to mistakes and blunders, superstitions, unscientific theories, irrational beliefs, unbridled enthusiasm, fanaticism.”
It will be seen, therefore, that the power to think clearly, correctly, and scientifically, is the greatest of all the powers that a man can possess.
Again, Awo was so very correct. undecided It is still so sad to see that more than 40 years after he made this proclamation, a lot of people in this country, still cannot think clearly and constructively, despite the abundance of degrees they possess, and the different kinds of education they have received. shocked Many have gone to school, but the school has not gone through them. Many have sat within the 4 walls of a classroom but have imbibed nothing of value. We see so many examples on NL today. sad Awo was prophetic. It is sad to note that many of his political disciples have failed to heed his prophecy.

HR managers & recruiters always ask for 2.1 graduates in order to make their own job easier, or to reduce the large volume of applications, they receive for a role. undecided

I have sat on interview panels before, and I have seen graduates with a 3rd class perform even better during interview and assessment sessions, than 2.1 graduates. cheesy When you finally get a job in a structured multinational firm, you will see there isn't much difference between 2.1 graduates and 2.2 graduates. Are you sure? The Tribune Newspaper has a different perspective. undecided

Chief Awolowo provided the needed template for regional development and national cohesion when he held sway as Premier of Nigeria’s South West Region. Today, the region chiefly occupies a pacesetter platform compared to other regions of the federation.

No other Nigerian, dead or alive, has received the national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) without serving as president or Head of State, save Chief Awolowo.

Nothing else could have qualified the peerless Chief Awolowo but his saintly sense of integrity, his populist, largely anti-elitist nationalistic orientation, an unrivalled, positively infectious commitment to the ideals of democracy and rule of law. This is what divides Nigeria very much .Endless of pictures of handpicked Yorubas being used to advance ethnic chauvinism.
Why didn't you say that about the Igbo thread, at this link on NL :https://www.nairaland.com/3926379/igbos-most-industrious-innovative-richest? huh Or you were too short-sighted to see it? shocked If the pictures of these Yorubas offend you so much, here - take two tablets of panadol & try to get over it.

Didn't i tell you there's more equality in Igboland?

Yam sellers on road sides and area boys are the signs you get from an very unequal society of a handful millionaires and several millions of paupers like Lagos and Ibadan.
Continue telling yourself those lies if they make you feel better. undecided You want people to believe there are no touts, area boys or yam sellers in major towns in the Southeast? shocked As if it is not the same Ala Igbo that we all know. While I was doing youth corps, I know how many towns I visited in the South East, especially during their market days. Several people have shared their encounters with area boys in Onitsha, Aba, Awaka etc on this same NL. I can pull up quite a number of such posts from different threads to enlighten you, since you want to keep living in denial. sad

Before he ascended the throne of his forefathers, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, The Ooni of Ife was a very successful businessman. And he still is. As the Founder and Chairman of Grand Imperio Group, his holding company has extensive business interests in Real Estate and Construction, Manufacturing, Facilities Management, Leisure and Tourism companies within Nigeria.

Oba Ogunwusi has been involved in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) locally and abroad for over 13 years. He has been actively involved in the development of over 2,500 housing units with various consortia of developers/promoters, over the last 9 years in Nigeria.

He played a key part in the facilitation of trade between the United Arab Emirates UAE (Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone development) and Federal Government of Nigeria, through Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). He was also involved in the facilitation and development of Sparkwest Steel Galvanizing Plant (the only Steel Galvanizing Plant in Nigeria), National Iron Ore Mining Company Limited and Jakura Mines resuscitation projects, which has eventually become the major limestone feed stock to Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi State, Nigeria.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi is a Director, Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank Limited, (formerly GTHomes), a leading National Mortgage Bank and former subsidiary of one of the biggest banks in Africa, GTBank. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Polytechnic Ibadan. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate Accounting Technician and a certified member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. He is also an active member of Global Real Estate Institute (GRI).

His company Grand Imperio Group has been actively involved in the development of over 13 housing estates, within Lagos and the rest of the Southwest region. These include Essential Homes Estate in Lagos, which comprises 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 4 bedroom terraced bungalows, 3 bedroom town houses + bq and Ante room, 3 bedroom apartments and 5 bedroom standalone duplexes .

Another of the estates established by the Grand Imperio Group is Jacob Mews, a $23.3 million project, which features over 120 units of premium residential flats, maisonettes and town houses located in Yaba, Lagos.

Lakeview Park Estate (Phase I & II) is also one of Oba Ogunwusi's projects. It is a world class residential community with best-in-class design, construction, amenities, site services and security, not far from the renowned Victoria Garden City (VGC) Estate in Lagos. Its' 202 residential plots of 600 sqm and 800 sqm were sold out in record time.

Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure is a tourism complex that is being developed by Oba Ogunwusi's firm, Grand Imperio Limited. The resort is located within a friendly community rich in culture and history of ancient Lagos Monarchy; home to the Esinmikan Royal Family. Situated between the Lagos lagoon and the magnificent Atlantic Ocean, Inagbe Grand Resorts & Leisure provides exquisite scenic views of both abundant water bodies. Inagbe Grand Resort stretches over 3 million square meter land, within a 100 kilometer stretch island along the Atlantic Ocean, just a few minutes away from Victoria Island. The site is only accessible by ferry and speedboats.

Other projects include Midland Court, Ruby Court Estates, The Lord's Estate, Golden Leaf Estate, Grand Lake etc., which are currently in various stages of completion both within and outside Lagos State. They also executed an electrification project along the same road, along with installation of electric poles for electricity distribution.

Within his domain in Ile-Ife, the Ooni has also embarked on various construction works and infrastructure projects designed to uplift the town. http://granimperiogroup.com/projects/

As at then, Nigeria was a commodity-trading nation. Then, we realised that the demand for iron rods and cement was so high, and I became very interested.

As we discovered this opportunity, we started importing cement and iron rods, selling for Pacific Holdings, owned by Dr. Deji Adeleke. That also ignited my passion for real estate. My senior brother was in the banking sector, while I was into commodity trading. I went to Lagos to join him for us to work together. From there, I started doing real estate. That was around 1998/99. And eventually, I set up my company, Gran Imperio Group (GIG).

Before I formed mine, I’ve worked with many companies in terms of collaboration. I have worked with a lot of many Indian companies in the area of manufacturing, but I discovered my interest lies in construction companies. I decided to train myself through various engagements both locally and internationally. In a bid to equip myself, I’ve had to travel to so many countries, joining some business groups like association for international business.

I like to do big things; it is one of the ways I challenge myself. I have learnt valuable lessons from several business negotiations. I have learnt how to make seemingly impossible task to work. All of these have given me wider exposure and ever since I developed a tough skin and a slogan ‘Otisese’, meaning, it is possible. https://guardian.ng/business-services/real-estate-as-my-career/
