..This is the Dictionary meaning of 'accommodation' cos i do not think you and your SW brothers knows what it means..
1)To provide housing for,to furnish with something desired, needed or convenient.
2)To do a favour or service for,to oblige.
3)To give consideration to;to allow for
4)To contain comfortably;to have space for..

..Now mr man,can the above be said to what yorubas do for Igbos or any non-yoruba tribe??...

..The truth is that Nigerians are not ACCOMMODATING to any tribe that is not their own,it is purely business....Pay money for land, rent, housing, office spaces, shops(which the sellers desperately need to sustain themselves undecided) and stay..or else scram!

..That is what yorubas does..yet will be the first to spew trash about being 'accommodating....Like @vanbottel said, your claims are just like a hotel owner who claims to accommodate clients who pay for his /her services..
..how twisted is that?
Where is the word 'free' written in that definition of 'accommodating' or 'accommodation?' shocked Or are you just a freeloader like your friend, who believes being accommodating means you should get everything for free? undecided

Now listen, "to provide housing for; to give consideration to; to have space for..." are part of the definitions of being accommodating. In some countries or places, you are NOT even given the consideration, talk less of being granted the opportunity to pay for that thing.

In some communities you would never even be offered housing or land in a particular area, no matter how much money you have, simply because you are not an indigene of that place. In some parts of the far North, you cannot even dream of building a church in the centre of their town, it is like a taboo. Yet, in the Southwest, you can buy any house, live anywhere and be given consideration for any thing you want to buy or own. Yet, someone believes they are not accommodating .... mtcheew! angry

As someone who was born and bred in Lagos let me point out something to you sir, the area boys menace you mentioned earlier does not affect igbos alone, even the so called indigenes dey suffer for their hand. On a lighter note, I spent almost two years in the southeast and nobody offered me all these goodies you listed here. Shall we conclude that my brothers in the east are not "accommodating"?

I suspect that is actually a major factor. Igbos have never taken responsibility for their massive role in the civil war. They blame EVERYONE ELSE except themselves. Even their 'intellectuals' like Chiamanda more or less admit this. For example, according to Chiamanda, Igbo parents, even to this day, continue to tell their children that 'Yorubas are THE enemies.' Imagine that. And they pass their Biafra pseudo-history from generation to generation. In essence they have locked their community in a frozen-hyper-underdeveloped emotional state - devoid of reality or common sense.
Hmmn.... you are right. undecided And these forbears of IPOB as well as their descendants, need to reach out and get specialised help, in order to treat the deep-seated trauma they went through, during the war. When feelings of inadequacy, hate and inner turmoil is passed down from one generation to the next, it builds a mental stronghold, within the recesses of the mind. Ask psychologists. And it ends up poisoning their view of the world. sad But the first step is for them to acknowledge they even have a problem. It is when a man realises he has a problem, that he can seek for solutions. But their pride and ego is unlikely to allow them to accept this simple truth. sad Its' sad, really. Dr. Ozodi Thomas Osuji analysed it really well, at one time. He once advised: "Do not do what would make people negatively stereotype you." But as usual, they didn't listen. Yes, because taunting and commending the Arewa Youths for the declaration is only "advising" Igbos to vacate the North for their security and not an extension of the campaign of unruly, crude insolence many IPOB touts have routinely engaged in.

See the cretin calling me a halfwit. I agree. It was an aftermath of the civil war. sad The forbears of IPOB suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after Ojukwu deserted them on the battlefield. You are the one owing us an explanation of how harassment by miscreants constituting themselves as nuisance and disturbing public peace amounts to "accommodating" anyone. Keep asking the question without making any attempt to answer the very obvious one. Keep hiding behind your finger.

And your constant warning of "relocate to the South east" is so faded and out of tune that you are sounding like a broken record, for Pete's sake, we are still being deceived that we are in a country, we have the right to remain anywhere we want and do our business, and even demand for whatever rights we need there. You cannot do anything about it. Except Nigeria dissolves, we shall remain in Lagos and do our business and a billion omoniles cannot stop us. We must push on, and we must succeed. If you don't like our presence, move to Benin republic.

I was only talking about your lies about "accommodating" because your people use it to deceive your people, not us.
Nah! You are the only outright liar on this thread. sad I do not owe you, jack! angry You left your hometown within your SE region, to relocate to the southwest voluntarily, not so? You set up business there, and resided there. And then turn round to claim the people in that area were NOT 'accommodating.' In order to show you where you erred, I kept asking you to define 'accommodating,' yet you failed to do so. From your subsequent comments, it was obvious that you felt being 'accommodating,' meant receiving things for free. And your error was pointed out to you.

A wise man would realise his mistakes, and backtrack. undecided But not you. You continued blaming people of the SW region, for your challenges in the hands of touts down there, as if there were no touts in your own region from where you departed, in order to seek greener pastures, in the southwest. You even went as far as to imply that no other part of the SW was accommodating. sad

It seems you just learnt this new adjective called 'accommodating.' shocked And you are on a mission to paint the SW black, because of your encounter in the hands of the touts there. That was why I asked you to relocate back to the Southeast instead of continuing to whine, here. Are you happy now? huh

Guy let me give a typical experience I had in Aba.
I went to there to mass produce a type of bag (thus promoting commerce in the great city). can u imagine that touts can along while we are loading the finished products into a truck and demanded we settle them. People urged me to do so else they will just ambush the truck and cause harm.
I'm an Igbo man who came to do business and I'm still being intimidated by my fellow Igbo man.
What do u call thishuh
Your friend vanbonattel will stylishly avoid your remarks, and pretend not to see it. sad He believes that touts only exist in the Southwest, and they were sent by all the people in that region, to extort money from him. I remember working for an organisation, that had branches all over Nigeria. Each time we needed cash-in-transit services to be carried out for us, we had to engage a helicopter to airfreight the cash from Aba. Loading cash into trucks under the watch of armed guards, and taking it by road to Enugu, was considered too risky. That should give you an idea of the large-scale menace of touts & lack of security, in that particular place. sad

Oga, your attempts to veer me off towards insults and name calling will not work. Keep to the points of the argument. How can you say you are accommodating me when I am paying for all the legal and illegal charges associated with my staying around you?

Simply, it's me that is accommodating you, since you may not survive without my benevolence.
There was nothing insulting in my post. First, show me the definition of 'accommodating,' which entitles you to get things for free. sad How many times have I asked you this question? Till now, you have NOT been able to provide an answer. Secondly, if you truly feel you are the one being 'accommodating,' then it is not by force to stay in the Southwest, if it upsets you so much. The only wicked and heartless person here is you. angry Why? shocked You have failed to address the source of your problem, instead you are looking for ways to blame others. Na una way be dat. sad

How many people from your region were made Ministers of Transport and Aviation within the last 15 years? Name them. From Kema Chikwe, to Ojo Maduekwe, to Stella Oduah and now to Rotimi Amaechi. Why didn't they do something about it? shocked Flying from Enugu direct to London or America, is a function of which type of airlines operate direct flights between Enugu, and those places. Last time I checked, Ethiopian Airlines operated international flights from Enugu to foreign countries, but with a stop over in Addis Ababa. What have your SE ministers done to ask other airlines to operate direct international flights from that airport?

As for Onne, when was the last time you visited the port? huhThe draft in Onne port is deeper than Apapa port, so what do you mean by large ships cannot berth there?

There are two major Terminal facilities at Onne Port Complex. These are the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT ) and the Federal Lighter Terminal ( FLT ).

FEDERAL OCEAN TERMINAL (FOT)
The Federal Ocean Terminal has a total quay length of 2890 meters. This terminal which is deep and large was designed to accommodate and anchor bigger and ocean going vessels and to berth vessels of 40,100 to 50,000 DWT capacity. It was envisaged to be the largest, deepest most modern Port in the West and Central African sub-regions and has potential for expansion to serve both local and international investors. The Port which also serves as a hub for the west and central Africa Sub – regions in Oil and Gas has an advantage of accessibility, proximity to the Eastern commercial centres like Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba etc, adequate depth to accommodate heavy ocean going vessels and adequate security. www.nigerianports.org/AboutUsOnnePort.aspx ; http://www.nigerianports.org/defaultOnnePort.aspx
NPA Receives WAFMAX Vessel At Onne Port |
About five months after she made a trial call, a West Africa Max (WAFMAX) vessel is set to call at Onne port next week, in what the management of Nigerian Ports Authourity described as an affirmation of the deepening of the channel in the Bonny Pilotage District.

He said that the ship would be sailing in with the maximum 4,500 containers, which he described as the biggest of such in West Africa so far. “We have had a test run last year; it came into Onne port successfully last December”.

“All these are testimonies to the dredging that has been going on in Lagos and Bonny, the draft of the channels have increased when compared to what obtained before the NPA entered into joint venture agreement with Lagos Channel Management and Bonny Channel Management”. The duo are the two dredging companies that currently carry out capital and maintenance dredging of approaches to the two pilotage districts in Nigeria.

Buttressing his point, he said that Bonny Access Chanel has deepened from 12.5metres in 2005 to about 15 metres as at September 2013. He also added that the depth of the channel from Bonny to Onne junction and from Onne junction to the Federal Ocean Terminal has increased from 7 metres in 2005 to 11.7 and 11.3metres respectively as at September 2013. http://shippingposition.com.ng/content/npa-receives-wafmax-vessel-onne-port

See where you are wrong, can I call an hotel "accommodating" if I am paying for the services they render me? No. I will say they are doing their jobs, and they are doing it because I can pay for the services. If any other poor man enters and cannot pay, he will be thrown out. No mercy. Hotels are never accommodating. They are doing their business.

I can equate the situation we the Igbos face in various parts of Nigeria to a hotel service. We pay for land or shops, you allow us to stay. When you finish eating the one we give you by month end, even when my rents has not expired, your youths start barking again, and we must somehow, grudgingly settle them, just to keep our businesses afloat, because we need the ports to bring in our merchandise.

But while a good hotel will collect your money and render services and security, your people collect our money via land sales, taxes, rates, fines and other punitive levies, and still turn back and ask us to clap for you because you are accommodating us in your place?

You still send illegal gangs to harass our traders, you send omo onille to ask for more money everyday, you send agberos to hold our goods and delay our businesses, you use police to terrorise our people while they try to chill out in bars in the evening.

Where is the accommodating, Laudate?
Go to the dictionary. Read up the meaning of accommodating. Then juxtapose it with your sojourn in the Southwest and the months or years you have resided in the region, you freeloader. Maybe, you will realise where you goofed. For the last time, there is nothing in the word 'accommodating,' that is equivalent to getting things for free. Just say that you are simply a freeloader. Now, we know what you truly are. I guess the touts in Onitsha, Aba and other areas of the Southeast, were sent by your own people to terrorise the traders within those areas too, not so?
