I am afraid, writing about her past marriage in a book should not have been the best option. People will only comment and pity you for some days as you have just done and you are left with your problem. She has just chased any interested man that will like to marry her with her book . No man will like someone that will write about his weakness or strength in a public book. If I was the man I will sue her ass for libel
Sue her for libel? When the contents of the book are based on fact, and not fiction? huh Do you know the meaning of the word 'libel?'

you have nailed it completely but let me remind you that maje has tokes mumu button. HE kbows the right button to press IN tokes brain that she will just fall like a pack of cards.

That guy is a player and an experienced one at that. He knows how to find his way into anywomans heart he's lusting after. For toke it was a fairy tale romance and wedding she wanted.he gave her that for the rest baby mamas they wanted money and one minute fame and they got it

Every woman has a price and the men know it.some it's money that is their price some its romance baby or fame and he pays the price to get into their v@gyn@s
Hmmmn.... you are right. May God delete that 'mumu' button from Toke's brain & completely reboot her system until she can remain unaffected by Maje's tactics. Can I get an Amen from somebody?? cheesy

When i saw d name "On becoming" i thought that maybe its a book that talks about how she started and her challenges of been successful and so on!
I never knew that what was in that book was all about Maje and Anita, she just decided to spoil their name to the world, just because of money and her failed relationship, is she the only one that have been through difficult situations? No! Is she moving on? No! they said good name is better than gold and silver and i feel this book will definitely hunt her in the future... I wonder what people will learn in this book that is full of hatred, pain and controversies!!!
If all of us were to write a book about our relationship i guess we will be the best authors of all time!!!

Your post make sense, die! cool After the prayer, the next thing is to apply the lessons learnt in that book to one's life. An honourable man will value your uniqueness, treat you with respect, support your aspirations and always seek to make you the very best of every good thing, you can be. He will not continuously cheat on you and compare you to his baby mama, or keep breaking his promises to you at every single turn.

how can someone looking for a child abort? She really put in her all to make a dead relationship come alive including trying to conceieve but failed woefully because in the first place both of them were in it for the wrong reasons. Maje was in it out of pity toke wanted to satisfy society and keep up apprearances so thay people will say she's Mrs somebody

And this reminds me of my model chimanda.
Maje was NOT in that relationship with Toke out of pity. He was in it, because he wanted to eat his cake and have it. He wanted the best of both worlds from Toke & Anita. And both women stupidly let him get away with it. I blame all 3 of them. undecided

Some will admit while the majority will choose not to admit. But I admire her bravery because it takes a whole lot to put Your story in public Where it'll be opened to scrutiny judgement hate admiration speculations and doubts especially in an anti women society like Nigeria
I pray that in writing this story, Toke will finally get the closure she truly needs, the healing of her soul that she truly deserves, and the courage to face the future with faith. undecided

There are too many women (both young and old) that are going through (or have gone through) Toke's experience. Some are lucky to have walked out of it, others are still trying to justify their stay in unhealthy situations, that ought to have been discarded a long time ago. In reading Toke's book, I pray they get the wisdom and strength to leave all those dysfunctional relationships behind. And for those who have not experienced such issues, may they use this book as a guide to avoid getting caught in the kind of trauma and sick, defective relationship that Toke captures so vividly, in each of these chapters. sad

If I ever have a daughter, I would give her this book to read once she hits her teens, so she can run from men like Maje and never ever make the mistake of trying to change herself, in order to please somebody else. Bro, take my advise. Put a price you are okay with and leave it there. You know how much you want for it. removing price and expecting people to call you is a wrong marketing strategy, even though it appear you would make more that way. It raises suspicions of rip off. I do not know any place online where price is omitted, even big auto sites have prices on their cars, except in some rare instances.
Thank you, o! shocked shocked I advised someone online recently, to post a price on the vehicle he was advertising for sale, he replied that serious minded people would call him if they were interested. I told him that he would only get calls from unserious jokers, and those who just want to waste his time. He got more 'flashers' than anything else.

Serious minded people work within a budget. Without a proper price tag affixed to an item, a serious minded person will just think your ad is a scam, or you do not have the direct brief to sell the car. undecided

Vote for Ambode or Perish Inside the Lagoon, Oba akiolu Tells Igbos | ThisDay Newspapers | April 6th 2015 |

....“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.

“If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you. If you go against my wish, you will perish in the water.”

The monarch said anybody against Ambode did not wish the state well, adding, “I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years....

In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised Akiolu that the Igbos in the state would support Ambode.

“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbos. It is not only the Igbos that were responsible for the votes. But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win.

“Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. We are going to tell our people that Ezes from the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas are here and that we have sworn with the Oba that we are going to make sure that Ambode wins next Saturday’s election,” he said.

Oba Akiolu’s statement was jocularly to his Igbo friendsOba Akiolu’s ‘Death Threat’ Against Igbos Was An Honest Joke – Atueyi’ ON APRIL 10, 2015 | 3:44 AM

A Lagos-based lawyer Chukwudi Atueyi, who was present at the meeting between the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu and some Igbos where he made the infamous ‘death threat’, yesterday, gave an account of what transpired at the meeting.

According to Atueyi, the uproar was uncalled for as the Oba’s statement was not directed at the whole Igbos in Lagos but he spoke jokingly to his Igbo friends that visited him.

“All the Eze Ndi Igbo honorary in Lagos went to pay HRM solidarity visit on Sunday and I was fortunate to be among those present at the said meeting. What the Oba said was fully and simply directed to only the Igbos present at the meeting who his majesty considers to be very close to him and should understand him well enough.

“You know when one talks to his very close friends and subjects, he tends to be very free with them, so he was being very free with those present at the meeting and wanted us to realize how serious and close he takes us and our votes, because he cannot imagine us giving him our words only to turn back and do the very opposite.

“He did not force us to the meeting, we were the ones that went to him on solidarity visit, so it would be very evil of us to only go and deceive him there. He only jokingly (at least as it appeared to me then) warned the people present at the meeting who he considers his own people. The said warning that we are supposed to be very conversant with since we have all the “Ëze Ndi Igbo” present there, as that was not the first time we visited him. We are all already aware of the Yoruba culture and understood perfectly what he meant. There was no specific place he referred to all the Igbos in Lagos.

“He was only addressing the Igbos with him present there whom he considers his own people and he simply observed his culture which we all quite understood and this explains why there was applause and laughter at the end of his speech. We were expected to, thereafter, talk to our people in civilized manner to convince them and canvass for their votes if we truly believe we are capable of doing so.

“The tradition of lagoon water threat was directed only to those present at the meeting as culture demands. Though he appeared serious but we all understood it as a joke, that was why we all applauded him and made fun of it there.

Prof is just a clan head....mind you I am from Anambra

So, ooni used to have a Yoruba wife...when he ascended he dumped her for a non Yoruba
But prof never had an Igbo wife and never dumped any...

So before you make some comparison get your facts right

What Ooni did was symbolical
Oga, I will leave the Yoruba guys to give you an answer on why the Ooni married an Edo wife. The woman's middle name is Wuraola, in case you do not know.

And Yoruba history is tied up with Edo history, in many ways. So don't forget that both tribes had a relationship that preceded modern times. Also the Ooni had been divorced from his 1st wife about 10 years, before he even met the Edo woman and long before becoming the king. He did not dump her to marry the 2nd wife.

Finally, you had earlier said 'many other Yoruba traditional rulers have married Igbo women?'. We are still waiting for you to kindly list them.

Stop ranting, OSU caste system is longer practiced in Igboland, that happened before the coming of white men.Igbo ladies are free to marry any man from any part of the world and one good thing about them is that they never forget to allign their children with Igbo culture
Haba!! Why are you saying this now, when it is still prevalent in different areas? You are the one that keeps chanting Afonja on different threads, yet Afonja died in the 18th century. Meanwhile, the Osu caste system is still alive and kicking in different parts of Ala Igbo, despite the fact that a law was made to ban it in the 50s.

bigfrancis21:
From the way you're sounding, I don't think you're grounded well enough in the state of Igbo matters. I am an Igbo myself and I won't lie on the internet just to pretend that the system no longer exists. Yes, the osu system in Igboland has been reduced immensely and nobody discriminates openly against an osu in Igboland. Nobody can tell between an osu and diala in Igboland, especially in the township areas because nobody cares. The issue of osu mainly comes up when it is time for marriage or kingship in a village. This is when the groom's family (if dialas) go to find out about the bride's family (iju ese). This has been the cause of the end of several to-be marriages in Igboland, when the bride's family is discovered to have osu status. Many times, Igbo kids born and bred outside Igboland barely know they are one and they only find out when they are engaged already and their fiance's family does the asking around (iju ese) and discovers her status. This can be very heart-wrenching for the bride most times. According to the way it is done, a diala (freeborn) who marries an osu automatically becomes an osu. Several efforts have been made to stop this practice, especially by religious figures, but then which diala families are willing to be bold to marry an osu family because rumour will spread around the village that they are no longer dialas but osus by marriage. This leaves ladies with osu status in a tight position to seek out marriage strictly to osu guys (reducing their dating pool in Igboland) or marry outside to other tribes where no one cares about their osu status.

But from the way it is mentioned here on nairaland, one would think that the osu system is very bad in Igboland. However, it is not. I spent over 11 years in Imo state and did my entire secondary school there and I never came across an osu (doesn't mean they did not exist but nobody cared or knew who was one or not), not even once nor I heard anyone call another person an 'osu'. Infact you could be reported or charged for openly calling someone an 'osu'. Everyone intermingled freely - at school, in the market, at work, in the public place etc. Due to urbanization/westernization now, Igbos predominantly live in the city where they intermingle thus no one would know who is osu or diala. Only the villagers in the village still know which families or sections or villages are diala or osu.
Thanks for the education. Much appreciated. cool

This is one problem ..when the good and rich Yoruba guys that hate marrying the Yoruba women...Igbo gains

Most influential Yoruba Mary Ann Yoruba and you can see from Oba of Ife or is it ooni and this man

Yet, few Igbo marry outside...Igbo retains theirs and gets have chunk of others

No wonder wise men comes from east...we wish chioma well ....until
Why are you so obsessed with this talk of Yoruba men who marry Igbo women?? shocked I don't get it. Maybe because I do not come from the South west. sad But there are Igbo traditional rulers too, that have Yoruba wives. e.g. HRM Prof. Chukwuemeka Ike of Ndikelionwu in Anambra State. Igwe Alex Nwokedi of Achalla in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State also has a Yoruba wife. So what is the big deal?? shocked

I have lots of Yoruba friends that are married to their fellow Yoruba women. In fact, for every single Yoruba man that you see marrying one Igbo woman, you will find 1,000 other Yoruba men like him, marrying their fellow Yoruba women. So why are you so fixated on this issue? huh

Mike Adenuga is really rich isn't he, and he does not have an Igbo wife. Oba Otudeko is also another rich Yoruba guy, but he does not have an Igbo wife. There are several others like them. undecided

Wait, o! shocked Do you have Igbo sisters that are looking for Yoruba men to marry??! Is that the problem? shocked Send their numbers to me, sharp-sharp. I can introduce them to the Yoruba chaps in my office, o! undecided

Congratulations to Akeredolu & the good people of Ondo state. Now they are going to be the first state in the South-West, with an Igbo first lady! Hehehe..... cheesy Thank God she married Aketi instead of her fellow Igbo man, otherwise she would not have become first lady-in-waiting, today.
