mekuzi09: Resorting to emotional plea will not save you. You’re inundated with phobia for Igbo; your comments, a testament to this fact. When you mock at a particular ethnic group because of their stand, what does it translate to?
On that thread, you camouflaged your hate with non-existence humor, while fronting your attack. A common strategies employ by your kind on this forum. I don’t need to delve deep to spot your hypocrisy.
Besides, you already held a preconception on my character, which was the factor that motivated you to launch the attack in the first place. Remember? Or you want me to post excerpt of the tirades?
Nevertheless, I don’t give a fuvck what you think of me…. Ugik: hahahahahaha...the requests are good but the issue of oil bloc ownership, even if it will be owned by the bourgeois, I still believe the region will benefit from it still Do you realise that there are quite a number of Niger-Delta indigenes that already own oil blocks? How has the ownership benefited their people? It is one thing to be allocated an oil block, and another thing to be able to put together adequate technical & financial resources to prospect for crude, undertake exploration activities and recover oil in commercial quantity. The idea that if oil blocks are awarded to ND indigenes, it would lead to a transformation of their communities and people, is negated by the reality on the ground and rooted in fallacy. Their mentality needs to change first, while the principle of accountability needs to be entrenched. Have you ever tried to carry out a project in the Niger-Delta before? Then you must have parted with some hard cash which would run into thousands or hundreds of thousands, before your project can take off. Such fees are called 'Community Development Fees' or Deve, for short. These communities collect such funds from all & sundry on a regular basis. Have they ever used it to develop their communities. Capital NO. Have they ever used it to educate their people? For where??! Now they are asking for oil block. Biko, let me laugh in Chinese first! |

I do not hate any particular ethnic group, because the words "hate" and "revulsion" do not exist in my dictionary. I leave such toxic emotions to your kinsmen. Since you have chosen to act as their Voltron or their ethnic e-warrior, you can have the floor. It is good to see that you are unable to dispute the facts outlined in my last post. The nurse too wants to show off her knowledge by making fun of you. Some of them even ask you cheekily: "How long have you been this skinny or fat?" as if they want to prescribe one medication for you to alter your weight. armadeo: No 2 is only for poorly run private clinics. Even in government hospitals that's really rare. Taa! How many govt hospitals have you been too? It is only govt hospitals without DSTV or GOTV that you will not find this kind of situation. If it is a govt hospital in Lagos with cable TV, forgerrit! armadeo: No 3 is true for busy private clinics and most govt hospitals. Delays are common in both public and private hospitals, due to the unbalanced patient-doctor ratio. But na govt hospitals get Ph.d for ungodly delay. I have spent 5 hours on the queue in a govt hospital before, waiting to see a doctor. By the time I eventually saw the doctor my body temperature had grown worse and risen by over 5 points. armadeo: No4, well health is wealth. No need to come with one germ and leave with 100.
No 5 again poorly managed hospitals
No 6 only in private clinics. How do you expect them to make thier money. Government hospitals don't care if you buy from them or outside hence you see many pharmacies surrounding them.
No7: isn't everything pricey these days Bros, for No. 5, it occurs in several hospitals, not just poorly managed ones. As for No. 7, pricey get degrees. niyisky: Murtala Muhammed International Airport
NCAA defends presence of multiple officials.
Despite the Federal Government’s campaign for economic diversification and export promotion, there is growing exporters’ apathy due, among others, to logistic difficulties at exit points.
While the availability of supply is not in doubt, the bureaucratic bottlenecks at the airports and alleged extortions by a legion of government officials have more or less made the export corridors almost a no-go area for local exporters.
In the alternative, The Guardian’s investigation reveals, farmers have taken to smuggling to neighbouring countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroun and Ghana, where freighting is cheaper and unhindered by officials..... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
An exporter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The Guardian that all the officials must be “settled from table to table” before the produce can be loaded onto an aircraft.
According to him, “We usually start with the Quarantine. They will insist on fumigation and you must pay about N12,000 per pellet. Besides, you still have to bribe and continue bribing from one table to another You must bribe your way through all the agencies if you don’t want to miss your flight.” _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Aside from the dearth of infrastructure, there is also the issue of five per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on freight cost. This is an additional barrier which makes the export of Nigeria’s farm produce more expensive than Ghana’s, or Cameroun’s.
For instance, the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana is now a logistic hub in the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) because of its ease of export processing. It hosts only one government agency at the export shed to check the export of unauthorised goods out of Ghana, but there are absolutely no duties on authorised goods.
The Accra airport alone exports an average of 25,000 MT yearly, which include 95 per cent of fruits and vegetables, and five per cent for general cargo and mining extract. In contrast, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, being the busiest in Nigeria, is doing 16,000 MT yearly, Kano 1,000 MT, Port Harcourt 900 MT, and Abuja 400 MT.
Air France KLM Cargo Country Manager Nigeria, Gabriel Lalande, reported that yams exported from Ghana, actually originated from Nigeria, due to the cumbersome export process and high duty cost.
In defence of the multiple agencies, the NCAA explained that for every aerodrome, there are agencies that are required. The spokesman for the authority, Sam Adurogboye, said that for an international airport, “it is a must to have those multiple agencies because of cargo, personal, drugs, security issues among others that are involved.”
According to him, what is usually done is to hold airport security meeting and the Joint Intelligence Board (JIB), led by the NCAA to address concerns as they are raised.
Source http://t.guardian.ng/news/how-government-agencies-frustrate-food-export-at-nations-airports/ Na dis kind thing dey make me vex! This is where we get things wrong as a country. Ghana is reaping benefits that should come to Nigeria, simply because they have managed to put their house & airport in order. Our govt likes to pay lip service to everything, instead of actually executing steps that will make it conducive to do business in this country. We have made so much noise about making our airports a hub, and diversifying our economy, but when it comes to putting in place the actual things to make it happen, our authorities fold their hands and go to sleep. In this country, we spend more time on rhetoric, than concrete action; more time playing to the gallery than actual implementation. Chai!! |

onDjobtraining: Hi
Brilliant contribution from everyone, i will like to say that the major infrastructure required for an automated or smart/intelligent building is: * An internet services * A smart phone/device You forgot to add stable, constant electricity supply that is available 24x7 and does not fluctuate. All those switches, modems & devices through which the internet gets connected to your appliances, need to be powered by electricity. And before you start talking about alternative power supply systems like generators, solar power etc., please be aware that the Nigerian environment is peculiar. Generator uptime is dependent on diesel availability and functional machinery (i.e. the genset). In Nigeria, where fuel scarcity does not give you appropriate notice before it starts, and a lot of adulterated diesel can easily make nonsense of your generator's functions, tell me... how reliable is this source of alternative power supply? As for solar power, the initial cost is rather high, and you need to replace the batteries at regular intervals. With the current unpredictable forex situation, you can be sure that cost of batteries would continue sky-rocketing for several months. With inverters, again cost of back-up batteries & spares come into play, and proper maintenance of the equipment. You also need regular power to ensure the batteries are fully charged. So if the Discos or your genset does not provide adequate power to charge your batteries over an appropriate length of time, bros' you are on your own. I know houses where their inverter systems are now like relics, because they have not been able to muster enough resources to change their battery bank. My point? We have a poor maintenance culture, and the smart city thing is something that only the very rich can afford at this particular point in time. Even the middle-class that aspire to have a smart home, will find that there are too many interruptions to their efforts to have a seamless, continuous smart-home experience. We are good at putting the cart before the horse in this nation. Let us fix the power issue as best as we can, then work on perfecting our maintenance culture, ensure the supply of quality parts and equipment, instil the best technical skills in our pool so we have an adequate pool of trained hands to fall back on. Then and only then, will smart cities make sense. Just my 2 cents.. |

In what appears to be another display of brazen opulence, wife of the President of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has been spotted wearing a £15,000 Chopard Happy Sport 36 MM stainless steel diamonds encrusted watch, raising more questions about the frugality, anti-corruption and man of the people image that got her husband elected as President of Nigeria in March 2015.
A statement released by her Future Assured pet project via a tweet on Monday contained an image of the First Lady and a short message disclosing that she was in New York to meet with United Nations hosted organisation, Stop TB Partnership at the 71st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 71).
The last time Aisha Buhari visited the United States, she said she was on a visit to hold discussions with aid organizations on how to help the women and children facing starvation in the north eastern part of Nigeria. Her visit was however marred with the scandal of a Hermes Birkin 35cm Porosus Crocodile Gold Hardware Bag worth $105, 000 (over N40 million) which she was carrying as she arrived the United States.
Many questioned the rationale of her fund-raising visit to the United States when the price of her handbag alone is enough to feed thousands of IDPs for months.
In this new visit to the United States, Aisha Buhari is seen wearing a £15,000 Chopard Happy Sport 36 MM stainless steel diamonds encrusted watch. When converted to Nigerian Naira at the current exchange rate of N545 to £1, the wristwatch is worth N8, 175,000.
To fairly appreciate the value of an N8 million wristwatch (yes, wristwatch), N8 million is worth 4 times more than the annual salary of a serving Nigerian minister and twice the amount a minister is entitled to for his/her annual housing allowance.
The Chopard diamond brand has become legendary and famous amongst the world’s wealthiest individuals. Upon purchase, a buyer gets a certificate to authenticate that the diamonds on the watch are not blood diamonds.
Breaking it further down for those who would dismiss as a non-issue, an N8 million diamonds encrusted wristwatch for the wife of Nigeria’s frugal President who claimed having only 150 cows before his election as President, reports indicate that more than 50 percent of Nigerians live below the international poverty line of $1.25 per day, according to the United Nations.
Coming at a time Nigeria is officially in recession, recall that prior to Buhari’s trip to New York for UNGA, a statement from the Nigerian presidency disclosed that the president would also use the opportunity to scout for investors to invest in Nigeria’s critical sectors. Political analysts however insist that the continued flamboyant spending of the Nigerian government under Buhari sends across the image of a nation that is not in any serious financial or economic crisis.
It gets worse when Nigerian athletes who risked their time, efforts and talents to represent Nigeria at the just concluded Rio 2016 Olympics received what has been described as the worst funding support from the Nigerian government ever. Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung reportedly announced to distraught Nigerian athletes in Rio the government’s reward of $2,000 (two thousand dollars only) for winning a prestigious Gold medal at the games.
Buhari’s frugal, austere, man of the people image was first diluted when his wife, Aisha, was pictured wearing an expensive-looking watch at her husband’s inauguration in May 2015. The wristwatch, a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-carat white gold diamond timepiece was estimated to have cost around $50,000 – more than £30,000 or about 17 million Nigerian naira. Report of the development sparked public outrage, making international news headlines. http://www.signalng.com/breaking-aisha-buhari-spotted-wearing-15000-chopard-diamond-wristwatch/ |

DTaj: Reading majority of the comments on this thread, one had to pity the younger generation of Nigerians! That every topic under discussion on major online platforms are riddled with exchange of insults on the basis of religion and ethnicity is an all-time low for Nigeria and its future! God help us!
Now, to those ignorant clowns insulting Fatima Buhari on her wedding to Gimba Yau Kumo, see FACTS below: 1. Fatima Buhari is in her 40s, while her husband is in his 50s (so the daft comment about marrying someone as old as her dad, who is in his 70s is pure fiction). 2. The husband, Gimba Yau Kumo, a management staff at a bank, was appointed MD/CEO of Federal Mortgage Bank Nigeria Limited (FMBNL) by former President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) in 2011 and he just finished his term last year, just before the 2015 elections. He had been dating Fatima Buhari even when her father was a member of APC and her husband was serving a PDP Federal Government. 3. Fatima Buhari had a first marriage to a man who was more vicious than a beast! The former husband almost made her an emotional wreck by being irresponsible, wicked, and inhuman. But for her family members, friends, old schoolmates, old neighbors, etc who prevailed on her to get a divorce, she might have died in that former husband's house because she wanted to stay for the sake of her 4 children in spite of the constant abuse from the husband! 4. Fatima Buhari and her former husband had 4 children together, and unfortunately, the 4 children are ALL sickle cell patients ("sicklers"! To compound the challenge, the former husband was so wicked that he practically abandoned her to her fate even after the divorce proceedings (which Fatima Buhati initiated in order to save her own life).
Right now, she manages the 4 "sickler" children on her own, hopping from one hospital to another. Any sane human being who have had any encounter with anyone raising a "sickler" child (let alone 4!) would sympathize with Fatima Buhari and not run a vicious tribal and religious hatred on her for no reason! 5. So, talking about being the 4th wife, what do you expect a woman divorcee, in her 40s, with 4 children from her first marriage to be? A fresh-mint bride? People should just mind their business and shut up, because they do not know what those they are unfairly insulting are going through! Alright, now we all know the reason for the low-key wedding that Fatima had. It was her 2nd marriage, and she already had 4 kids, coupled with the fact that she was going to be a 4th wife. Okay, now... that explains why there was no need for fanfare. I hope the clueless columnist who originally wrote the piece in a local newspaper, will have the guts to retract his statements comparing the wedding of GEJ's daughter and PMB'S daughter. In short, he goofed big time! May God Almighty heal her children and give them long life! DTaj: 6. The hate-filled average Nigerian (those on Nairaland and elsewhere) thinks that everyone whose parents have held public offices is corrupt or has benefitted from corruption. Er...you will have to forgive them from jumping to that conclusion. When Aisha Buhari, Fatima's step-mum wore an expensive designer wristwatch known as a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch that cost £34,500 to President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration on Friday, May 29 2015, which is valued at =N=10,453, 000 (Ten Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand Naira), and we all know she does not have a thriving source of income apart from her husband's salary.....well, then tongues are bound to wag and fingers will be pointed at corruption. Don't you agree? As for the simplicity of the Buharis, I am waiting for the day that Zahra Buhari will get married. Am sure the expenditure for her wedding, will be far higher than what was spent on Fatima's wedding. |
