TruthisGOD: They have already spent over 200 millions dollars and dug up to 23 exploration wells without finding any oil and you still want them to continue. Even a joint venture bw shell ,Mobil and shlumberger as a leading exploration coy with all their sophisticated tech would have abandoned such a white elephant project after spending one- third of what NNPC has spent. Do u knw the started this exploration since 1970? But they have found gas - huge pockets of gas. What stops the govt from processing this gas and using it for power? A Gas-to-Power scheme would actually benefit that region and even the rest of the country, if they get the infrastructure, right. |

Algebra12: It is important you understand first, what is Niger Delta and what is South south as well as what Biafra is. Your primary geography teaches you that a delta is a river distributory, in this case, a distributory of Niger river. It follows then that the all the places through which the Niger river empties into the ocean can be classified as NIGER DELTA.
South South is a political expression and has no meaning in Geography. you either have North, south, east and west or NE, NW SE or SW nothing like North north or south south, they simply have no geographical meaning.
Now Biafra is a geographical located just off the coast of the Bight of Biafra. It simply is not a creation of Ojukwu and does not constitute only Igbo people. Again,Your south south and Niger Delta also has a large percentage of igbo speaking communities and so, you can not just take it to mean that the Igbo is concentrated only in the five igbo speaking states.
thank you. Now you have truly lost me. Am scratching my head trying to understand what you meant, by saying: "Biafra is a geographical located just off the coast of the Bight of Biafra. It simply is not a creation of Ojukwu and does not constitute only Igbo people." Can you explain this? My thoughts were that Biafra comprises of the South-East (SE) Igbo as well as indigenous Igbo in the Niger-Delta. Is that correct? So why are you saying Biafra does not constitute only Igbo people? |

Trust me if u relax for inside that Thatch house u no go wan sleep for ur Block house again. You see, this is where I feel we have missed it as a people. In another country, the methods and materials used to build these kind of houses would have been improved, upgraded and refined. Instead of seeing them as old and backward thatched houses, the architects, engineers and builders would have used the mud/clay methodology used in the past to erect these houses, to construct more durable and functional homes. I can bet that cost of construction would be far less than the type found in using modern cement blocks. Instead, this traditional houses are dying out and no one seems to care! |

RepEnugu: go ask of obidigwe's family(my mum's) in gwagwalada,a very wealthy family in abuja they are one of the many indigenioys igbo families in abuja Guy, read the history of some of the areas and indegenous communities that make up Abuja. You will not find the Igbo, mentioned there. Initially, you claimed Abaji in Abuja FCT was part of Ala'Igbo. Now, you are claiming that your mum's family is from Gwagwalada? Abaji is different from Gwagwalada, oh! Are you trying to say Gwagwalada is in Abaji area? Your post is unclear. Kindly read this little piece about the people of Abaji and Gwagwalada areas; BACKGROUND OF ABAJI
Abaji Area Council is one of the six area councils that make up the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). A greater part of what is now Abaji Area Council was excised from Niger and former Kwara States to form part of the FCT in 1976. The Area Council was created in 1986. It is made up of Abaji and Yaba Development Areas. The Council has a total land area of about 1,100 square kilometers with a population of over 46,600 inhabitants based on 2006 population census.
The resident ethnic groups of the area include Egbira, Ganagana, Gbagyi, Bassa, Hausa and a significant population of other ethic groups from all over Nigeria. They are predominantly farmers, hunters, fishermen, and traders. The Area is made up of 10 (ten) Political wards; Abaji North East, Abaji South East, Abaji Central, Nuku /Sabon Gari, Agyana / Pandagi, Rimba/Ebagi, Alu/Mamagi, Yaba, Gurdi and Gawu.
..... There exists two Chiefdom in the Council; Abaji and Yaba Chiefdoms headed by the Ona of Abaji who is the President and Chairman of the FCT Traditional Council of Chiefs and the Etsu Yaba who has the third class status.
http://www.fctacss.org.ng/index.php/area-councils/abaji-area-council BACKGROUND OF GWAGWALADA
Before the creation of Federal Capital Territory, Gwagwalada was under the Kwali District of the former Abuja emirate now Suleja emirate. Gwagwalada Area Council was created on the 15th October, 1984. Its official population figure of 150,000 people has since becomes obsolete. The population of the Area Council has grown to over 1,000,000 people. ECONOMY Subsistence agriculture is the main economic activity of the rural populace and the major crops grown in the Area Council are sorghum, maize, yam, millet, cassava, rice, beniseed etc. It is also favorable for livestock production because of the abundant grazing land.
Gwagwalada, the Area Council headquarters is strategically located only 25 minutes drive from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and about 45 minutes to the City center. It is strategically located and this makes it easily accessible to other bordering Area Councils such as Kuje, Abaji, Abuja municipal and Suleja in Niger State.
Public utilities such as road networks, portable water supply, electricity, telephone services are available in Gwagwalada. It is also blessed with the presence of important FCT and Federal institutions such as University of Abuja, specialist hospital, Custom, Immigration and Prison pension board, Sharia court of Appeal, FCT School of Nursing, FCT College of Education etc. Also, there are over ten branches of commercial banks operating within the Area Council.
....... Also, there are a lot of historical relics and artifacts in Gwagwalada and some of tourist attractions such as the Dadabiri hills, Tsauni hills, Wumi Natural forest, Giri pottery center, Traditional weaving centers at Angwa Teshi and Calabash centers at Zuba and Gwagwalada.
Gwagwalada Area ... is composed of 10 elected councilors representing the ten wards of the council, namely: Zuba, Ibwa, Dobi Kutunku, Tunga Maje, Gwako, Paikon¬kore, Ikwa, Quarters & Central http://www.fctacss.org.ng/index.php/area-councils/gwagwalada-area-council You can see from this piece, that Gwagwalada and Abaji are two separate and distinct local government areas or local area councils, within Abuja. The original indigenous inhabitants of both areas were the Gbagyi or Gwari, the Ebirra, the Bassa, Hausa, Nupe etc., not the Igbo. So please be careful of what you say. |

Tribalism is a disease fueled by ignorance. Once you educate ignorant folks preaching tribalism, with facts, figures, records, verifiable data and relevant information in a courteous, civilised way; then you are able to help them get rid of that ignorance, which clouds their sense of reasoning. Once the ignorance clears off, tribalism dies. Acquiring 'book learning' or qualifications, is not an indication that you have learnt the right things you need to know, or that your mind is truly enlightened. By educating the ignorant ones, you also enable those who are dogmatic among them, to see that they are suffering from a pathological disorder that needs help. Sometimes, you are even able to point them in the right direction to get the help they require. Nah...keep the threads open, let people see the folly of their wrong thinking. |

hydroking23: It's nice to see your ethnic pride. Very refreshing. I don't know if you were referring to me about not revealing my ethnicity but if it makes you feel better I'm Ogoni. You claim the Igbos aren't interested in non-igbos of the SS then why does the rhetoric of all sympathizers claim ALL SS states as representing Biafra. Even in your old dispensation prior to the civil war ALL the SS are included. Your oil deposits are insignificant to say the least. The oil and gas deposits in Ogonia land alone rivals that of your supposed nation state. In Rivers state fringe communities such as Etche and Omuma and Oyigbo deny their obvious igbo heritage. They want no part of Biafra. So don't sit here and act like the Igbos only want the Igbos of the SS. They NEED the entire SS for their pipe dream to even come close to being a reality and unfortunately it ain't gonna happen! You see this is where I have a little problem with your write up. You were expressing your views reasonably, until you got towards the end where you were speaking for other South-South (SS) tribes. Guy, you can only speak for yourself, and not the entire South-South. There are too many minority ethnic groups that make up the South-South, and it is even difficult to predict where the loyalties of every single one of them, lies. Even within the same SS community, you would find those who are in support of Biafra, as well as those who are against it. So why speak for everybody?? |

SonOfEl: you are not making any sense even with your justifications. dude, you don't have to be Yoruba in order to support their views in antagonizing Igbo. Point out the post in this thread where I supported the Yoruba in antagonising the Igbo. You are the one not making sense, because you do not see the Igbo who are always quick to unleash a vitriol of hate against anyone with a different viewpoint. For example, a person says something like: "the South-South will not support Biafra....". Instead of your folks to educate such a person on the fact that, "different groups make up the SS, and the SS Igbo's support is what matters," ... they jump down the person's throat, insult and vilify him, his clan, his ethnic group and family with the most disgusting, vile epithets you can think of. Maka, why?? Is that the way to build support for your cause?? |

LastProphet: I wish I had enough time I would have taken my time to write you a worthy reply since you sound educated at least. now first off I am not Ibo, hausa or yoruba and have no desire to be any so listen very well:
1) Nigeria did not start the war, Ibos started it. Kaduna Nzeogu did a coup and killed all other regional leaders except his own - Okpara, who was assisted to escape by other igbo officers. The same Nzeogu was the one that slaughtered Ahmadu Bello right in his palace in front of his family and no SINGLE HAUSA RAISED A VOICE. it took more than 3 GOOD GOOD WEEKS before Hausas and other tribes began to give the Nzeogu coup a tribal interpretation. Killing Ahmadu is equivalent to killing the Ooni of Ife, Oba of Lagos and Alafin of Oyo together and YET YOU REMAIN UNHARMED FOR WEEKS FOLLOWING THAT. Can anybody try that with any tribe and just get away? It is only Ibos in their natural sense of arrogance that can do such a thing and assume you cant do anything and that was what they paid for.
2) Please this is also documented - Ibos were warned severally both by word of mouth and radio many many weeks before the fighting broke out in the north to leave, any Ibo that denies this must be flogged on his brain. Kaduna radio was used to annouce many many times to Ibos to leave and that they were no longer welcomed YET THE IBOS REMAINED and to make matters worse they even started to ridicule the late Ahmadu Bello, IT IS DOCUMENTED that many Ibo traders started selling caricature photos of the late emir entering hell fire at markets and public places. If you were hausa and you got to market you will be shown the calendar-like paper as the Ibos mocked everyone. This was what led to the unfortunate 'araba' massacre which started in kaduna where my family grew up at the time
3) The single cause of the massacre of Ibos was ARROGANCE OF THE IBOS. If you hear that south Africans want to kill nigerians go there and ask and you will be told by south africans themselves that their problem are Ibos. It is exactly the same thing in Kenya, Ghana, Malaysia, India etc. anywhere you hear nigerians are hated it is because of Ibos, so are south africans also working with hausas? Or Kenyans? only a deluded soul will still continue to blame others and refuse to look inwards.
4) Ibos have a serious problem and it starts with their culture and they need to fix it. you cannot be hated everywhere and it is the fault of others.
5) And lastly it will shock you to know what perentage of nigerians want the Ibos to go peacefully - you will be shocked! But trust our clueless leaders with their slow thinking - nobody wants to be labelled the one that allowed nigeria to divide as if remaining one collosal wasteful entity is an achievement by the way.
6) And to any Ibo listening, I pray you will get your country as fast as possible but mark my words, you will run out of that biafra faster than rocket in less than 2 years of establishing it. I have worked in 3 Ibo states and I have never seen where people of the same tribe hate each other like Ibos except maybe (Edo people) and am waiting for the day Ibos will be at the mercy of other Ibos then we shall see what hell Biafra will become. My only plea to the govt will be that Ibos must not be accepted back no matter how they cry.
NB: However nothing justifies massacre and many hausas are morooons as expected especially the alamjiri and their day is coming if they dont change their ways. Bokoharam punishment is a startig point for them Hmmnn..... food for thought. Almighty God, I pray the Igbo are allowed to get the Biafra they deserve, without any further delay. Anyone who tries to stop them will be infested with a thousand flies. Let them go, biko. Na by force?? Nobody should persuade them to change their minds, oh! At least, we will then know those who are left, and willing to make Nigeria work. We know that within one month after they get their independence, they will still come back lobbying and begging for entry visas to get back into Nigeria as most of their shops, houses and businesses are located in different parts of our country. At that time, everyone will know who is who. Even till now, they are unable to stay still in one place which is why you find them in strange countries (even those with unpronounceable names), Anything that can be done to get them started on their journey, would be most welcome. Then we can apply immigration quotas for those Biafrans that are seeking to come back into Nigeria. Foreign nationals from other countries are welcome to stay behind. At least, they do not insult other ethnic groups or visit them with hate. No one should hold the Biafrans back. Enough is enough!! |
