Hello idiots!
I was the one who snapped the pictures. And the man was dead on the spot. His head was smashed on one side. He had no heartbeat or pulse. He was waiting for a vehicle with two of his friends. Those ones were still breathing after the hit and were rushed to the hospital by fellow motorists. He was checked by a medical personnel who was around us and he was already confirmed dead. We agreed to take pictures to post online so his family and friends might be informed. As we didn't find a phone on him.
We even went to the nearest police station to ask for a police report so we can take him to the mortuary and we were denied.
Eventually, we found his phone in the bushes and were able to locate his family members. And we waited until they came to pick his body and soldiers drove behind them, as the soldiers eventually came to the location and told everyone to step back.
So if you like curse me from now till next year, I know what I did was in good fate. Some of you idiots would drive by without stopping at 11pm at night.
I am a young lady and won't carry a corpse anywhere without the right documentation, as I am not a medical personnel.
Two police vans drove by us They didn't even answer all our screams to advice us on how to handle this corpse. Infact at the Ajiwe police station they told us to go back that they can't help us with a report. It was even some soldiers who stopped by eventually, not the useless police officers.
So you fools can keep cursing your ancestors since that's what you sit here doing. angry
Madam, you could have saved yourself and a lot of posters the stress, if you had included all these facts in your initial post on this thread, instead of just posting the pictures alone and claiming his condition was 'critical'!! shocked shocked

It was based on that initial information in your very first opening post, that a lot of people responded to your comments.

If what you are saying here now, in this latest post is the real truth... then you have done your bit as a good corporate citizen. And God Almighty will bless you. Always learn to give the true picture and the full facts, whenever you post anything online! angry And there is no need to vent, when you failed to include all the relevant details.

It helps to always give the correct facts!

No vex which positive thing she don do
She was elected the first female speaker of the House of Assembly, unfortunately she lost the position due to so many allegations.

From being a hairdresser, she went back to school to graduate with a degree in law from Buckingham University UK at the age of 61!

That singular action is an inspiration to many people.

Read all about it here: http://omojuwa.com/2013/09/patricia-ettehs-latest-move-the-facts-by-mbasekei-martin-obono/

Patricia Etteh’s Latest Move – THE FACTS by Mbasekei Martin Obono

.. I just read a piece of flighty, shallow minded and lazy journalism in Punch Newspaper (online) titled “Patricia Etteh’s latest move” written by one Anna Okon. I write as a classmate of Mrs. Etteh and in the capacity of the President of Nigerian Society of the University of Buckingham. I write because I hate misrepresentation of facts in order to suit surreptitious and impious agendum. In September, 2012, I started a Law programme at the University of Buckingham in order to fulfill a dream I have nursed many years ago. On arriving Buckingham, I found a lot of academic veterans, politicians, fulfilled business men and women, sons and daughters of ‘who is who’ predominantly with Nigerian, Caribbean, Pakistani, Chinese and Japanese origin.

When I got into Buckingham, I had two modules to contend with and an exam in less than 7 weeks because I resumed late. The workload was huge, I found myself spending a minimum of 6hours everyday in the library. Understanding European Union law wasn’t child’s play for me and many other European friends who confessed same to me. sad

....During one of the lectures, I noticed Mrs. Patricia Etteh in my class. I was shocked at first sight. I wondered what she was doing here. Before leaving Nigeria, I watched the National Assembly clear her of all corruption allegations. She was a victim of political maneuvering. I felt pity for her still but wasn’t convinced. My accommodation is one minute away from the library.

The days we don’t have classes, I get to the library at 10am. I will meet Madam Speaker who lives 10 minutes away in a one bedroom apartment of University accommodation and she will be the last to leave the library. Mrs. Etteh would trek or join school bus to class, library and tutorials. She spent most of her time studying than many of us. She doesn’t own a car neither does she dress flamboyantly. I was touched by her humility and commitment to studies.. undecided

Here are the facts, it is on record that Mrs. Etteh has never missed any class or tutorial even when she had problem with her legs, she called on some students to help her climb the faculty stair case despite pacifying her to call in sick. This is a sixty years old woman who is doing her best to compete favorably with fresh brains.

Laudate it seems ur really aggrieved with the current restructuring going on at NNPC, why is that, are u an employee of NNPC?

Maybe you shld request to have an audience with Ibe Kachikwu and make ur feelings known to him.
Madam, am not aggrieved with the restructuring, provided it is done in a proper and ethical manner. And am not an official of NNPC, so kindly stop the conjecture.

I do not need to have an audience with Kachikwu to make any feelings known to him. His actions already portray the kind of person he is. Don't forget that "by their fruits, ye shall know them."

My objections have to do with the blind defence of any silly action that any top govt official carries out, in this country.

We are all so quick to hail any action without thinking it through, or looking at the pros and cons of those actions as well as the resultant effects on the system. Yet, when things end up not working properly, we turn round to blame others for the misfortune that arises, from the consequences of such actions. angry

We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again, yet keep expecting a different result. Other GMDs have tried this approach in the past and it yielded nothing, but failure! Other parastatals have also embarked on the same course of action in the past, only to end up with greater problems than those which initially existed. shocked

We need to look beyond just the implementation of any action, and research the consequences of such actions on the system, the processes, the staff, the corporation and even the country, itself. There is something called "Change Management," and it is a process that every parastatal fails spectacularly, in this country.

Your GMD has started the process. Let us all wait and see how it turns out in the coming months. undecided

@ laudate why dont you provide proof that performance review wasnt used in downsizing or are u thinking that appraisals arent done and records kept?
Why?? Was I the one that sent the 1,000 people packing? Or was I the one that was defending the GMD blindly claiming that performance reviews were used to determine the fate of the sacked people? Or was I the one claiming that the 1,000 people added no value to NNPC?

Or why do you think the staff unions (i.e. NUPENG and PENGASSAN) are taking the GMD to task, and threatening to down tools over the matter?? shocked huh

you are looking for proof, small man like you...when you go to havard law school, graduate with honours, become the executive vice president of a multinational oil firm with a mind blowing resume, you will get the proof you're looking for. in this current dispensation, mediocrity isn't celebrated...know that!
No, you are the one that is thinking like 'a small man'. And it is that mediocrity that oozes from your words. So, because a man attends Harvard, you feel it gives him the right to toy with the fortunes of an entire corporation, and destroy the lives and careers of 1,000 people in one fell swoop? Even in America where Harvard is located, such things cannot be done in just 1 week, or you would be hit with multiple law suits from every corner! undecided

Like I explained in my very first post in this thread, there is a process and procedure for carrying out such things in a structured manner. You do not just get into a seat or position of power, and the first thing you do is to lay off people in under 1 week. Is he an undertaker sent to supervise the demise of NNPC? shocked

I don't need to provide proof, the GMD has said it that performance reviews will be used where it is possible to retrain staff for them to be more efficient then such staff will be kept, but where there is no value in doing so they will be let go. This is the criteria that is being used. If u know anybody that works in NNPC and who can be honest with you about the reality of the situation then you won't say this. I know pple who work in NNPC and they complain bitterly about the incompetence of the staff there who were employed simply on a man know man basis, they come to work do not add value and get the intelligent junior staff to do all the work. How can NNPC continue to survive like this and unfortunately this is the case throughout the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
Another funny assertion... the GMD said..?? What criteria, exactly? You and your GMD should provide evidence that performance reviews were used in determining who was sent packing, and who was retained. What proof do you have that those people who were laid off, did not add any value to NNPC? shocked

Provide proof of the so-called criteria please, so that your words can have true meaning. sad You know 'people who said...??" huh

That is the problem with Nigeria. People who always claim to know people, instead of relying on hard evidence and verifiable facts.

Later, they will turn round to claim that things don't work. How will it work when most folks prefer to rely on hearsay and 'people who know people'?
Career › Re: NNPC Retires 1000 Staff by laudate: 8:44am On Aug 17, 2015

If the 1000 are incompetent and have no value to add, then they shld go because there are a lot of incompetent hands in NNPC. A lot of the staff were recruited on a man know man basis which is not bad if they are competent to do the job and can add value to NNPC, but unfortunately this has not been the case so what's the need keeping some1 that has no value to add that's just a waste of moneyed . That money can be used to employ pple who are more competent and have value to add in order to help NNPC become a more profitable and efficient corporation.

This cleansing should apply to the entire agencies and parastatals under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the federal civil service. To deserve a job with the Govt you must be competent to perform, gone are the days when incompetent pple are employed on a man know man basis. Change is truly here indeed.
Very funny! sad Provide proof please, that the entire 1,000 people were incompetent. This is one problem with Nigeria. You guys will shout blue murder if the affected people are your kinsmen, but as long as they remain faceless... you really do not care. There is something called professional experience, institutional memory etc. All these will be lost in a single day, because some clowns sat down and decided to lay off 1,000 people in one fell swoop instead of taking time out to conduct a thorough investigation, then gradually phase out those who are not pulling their weight, within the system. A well-structured handover and succession process would then be instituted, as these people gradually wind down, and leave the system. Was that done in this case?? Kindly let us know. shocked huh

And where are the more competent people that are to be employed? Is it from the pool of unemployed graduates on our shores, that do not even know how to write a single business case or memo?? undecided

A man takes over as GMD of NNPC and in just one week decides that the first thing to do, is sack 1,000 people. It is not as if any process was automated, that made these people redundant. It is not that a new process or structure was instituted, that did not require the presence of so many people. It is not as if any major departmental function was outsourced. So what was the criteria used in laying off this huge number of staff? sad

What is the total number of staff employed by NNPC that would justify laying off 1,000 people? And do they even have enough money to pay off their terminal benefits in a timely manner?? undecided

In the blue corner is the Igbo group made up of ArodewilliamsT, tonychristopher, xtrorse, adeIToro etc and their ilk, who hold the Yoruba people responsible for all their woes. The bile and venom from their keyboards spews enough hatred to blind the unwary readers' sense of clarity, and those of their followers who believe in them. Any tool can be deployed in their mission - insults, curses, propaganda etc. Anything goes. wink

In the red corner is SLIDEwaxie, azzima, saintfizzo et al, who are ready to give as good as they get, and are ready to return the missiles with as much vigour, as they can muster. They do not draw first blood, but if attacked, they can release arsenal from their armoury to do quite a bit of damage. Their tools range from mockery to factual reports and verbal put downs.
