Jman06: No need to continue this argument with you.
So even if truly a pharmaceutical company employed a so called project manager in a company, would that "project manager" earn more than the pharmacist who employed him in his company Maybe you didn't know that was where this argument started from. And i still maintain that it doesn't make any financial sense employing a different person to manage my projects even when I have my quality assurance manager, plant manager, engineering manager who can just undergo some necessary trainings to handle any project in my company.
No need going back and forth with you. Just know that I will not employ any "project manager" in my company. I can only consult you if and only if the need arises.
Thank you! The guy who started the conversation with you made his points clear, when he said some consultants even end up earning more than pharmacists, because of their expertise. But you refused to understand his viewpoint, because you were hell bent on making it seem like pharmacists were the all-knowing superior species that could carry out all the jobs in a pharmaceutical company. If you don't employ any project manager in your own business, that is your call. It does not mean other bigger and better pharmaceutical companies, would not employ project managers who are non-pharmacists, to work for them. It is a free world. Now kindly remove your good self from my mentions, by refraining from quoting me again. Thanks.

okwabayi: Unfortunately I have not viewed the video neither do I know nor believe the genesis of the issue will receive a spotlight. My comment was based off what I read. How are we sure the professor mentioned the dress code needed for the presentation? I'll make a wild guess and say the exercise was something scheduled casually hence her 'bad' dress sense.
Picture this example: a naked female running out of a bush in a northern village shouting "Boko Haram is attacking! They are coming close!". I highly doubt men present in the location will abandon their lives only to sit down ogling at her firm mammaries. It's the same case here, the message is what people value. Unfortunately, you chose the wrong example to illustrate whatever point you are trying to make. In this case, no one is running for their lives, and a fight or flee response has not kicked in for any of the participants, in that girl's class. The atmosphere in the class is relaxed, and the audience is a bunch of fellow students, who are sitting patiently waiting for a presentation to begin. And the crass girl pulls such a stunt? In my undergrad days, she would be heckled and jeered at, within an instant. The message would definitely be lost, without any delay. It doesn't take time for a bunch of young undergrads to turn a classroom into a chaotic venue, once they are confronted with an act like this. It was reported that some other students also stripped off to join her....now, nobody remembers the message, but the strip off. The girl must have been a stripper, in her former life! Even if the presentation was scheduled casually, what happened to wearing other forms of casual clothing that cover the body? If she had turned up in a pair of jeans trousers or dungarees with a shirt, would the professor's reaction have been the same? |

J2381: indicators use pressure gauge to show the pressure level of gas tanks/cylinders. If the pressure is high, the tank/cylinder full, if it's low or getting low, it's empty or there about.
The most effective way of knowing if your cylinder is getting empty or not is to get a scale to weigh it. Those indicators are scam. The indicator has been working for my needs. If it has not worked for you, then that is your own cup of tea. Sorry. You can get a platform scale to weigh your own cylinder, if that is what works for you.

You are right. But if the walls of the cylinder are weak or the valve head is leaking, then any shaking of such a cylinder, could cause gas molecules to escape and an explosion might occur. Unfortunately, there is no recertification method for a lot of gas cylinders in this country. You see many cylinders with rusted bodies or shells, still being used to store and fill gas! Jman06: Your friend might have been employed with her degree in biology to play a different role in the company, not as a project manager. I'm typing about knowledge of the cGMP as it relates to pharmaceutical manufacturing. cGMP is employed in all other manufacturing processes, not only pharmaceutical manufacturing. Yes, for you to manage most projects in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, you have got to have knowledge of the industry first and then knowledge of cGMP and possibly HSE, and as such it is only a pharmacist or at worst a chemist who has the aforementioned knowledge that is better suited for that position. That is why a pharmaceutical industry would employ such person as the quality assurance manager. For those projects that require experts from other disciplines, the quality assurance manager will then have to consult outside his establishment for such expertise. Guy, she was employed as a project management officer. I saw her letter of offer on the day she got the job. If you don't accept it, oga you can argue with your keyboard. There are different types of projects going on within the pharmaceutical sector. A pharmaceutical firm may want to enhance or improve its logistics and distribution method, in order to save costs or reduce waste. Do they need a pharmacist to manage that sort of project, from start to finish, when he could be using his skills elsewhere? It is more likely that a logistics expert would be called in. If a pharmaceutical firm wants to carry out a project to improve environmental safety within its premises, would the management deploy a pharmacist to do so? It is likely they would use another scientist with expertise in this field. In a project team, people drawn from different disciplines make up the team members, not just pharmacists only. |

Jman06: There's no need for a google search because I have worked with the biggest pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Nigeria and there was no such position as "project manager" in the company. Pharmacists are trained to have enough managerial skills and in the pharmaceutical industry, the quality assurance manager (a pharmacist) usually has knowledge of project management in a pharmaceutical industry. Jman06: Unless the pharmaceutical industry is not a full fledged one. A fully established pharmaceutical industry usually has a quality assurance manager ( Usually a pharmacist) who has knowledge of cGMP. Knowledge of cGMP is very important in carrying out any project in a pharmaceutical industry because it encompasses quality assurance. Therefore, you cannot go and employ just anybody because they are graduates of project management into such position. So, a pharmacist or chemist with knowledge of project management and cGMP is usually employed. There are different types of projects carried out within the pharmaceutical industry, by various pharmaceutical firms, and in the course of a project, scientists from different disciplines (like biologists, chemists etc) are brought together to handle a project, not just pharmacists. If you recall my previous post, the friend I spoke about actually studied biology (i.e. specialising in molecular biology), before taking courses in project management and joining a pharmaceutical company. So are you saying it is only pharmacists that are allowed to have a knowledge of cGMP? Other scientists from other natural and applied scientists are not allowed to have a knowledge of cGMP? I am not downplaying the importance of a pharmacist, but you really need to realise that people from different disciplines, work within the pharmaceutical industry and they all contribute to the success of their organisation and development of products and services, within the industry. Depending on their disciplines, and the expertise they bring on board, such people can earn as much as pharmacists or even higher, within the context in which they operate. Complexity of project management in the pharmaceutical industry : by Pattanaik, Asima (2014) | Paper presented at PMI® Global Congress 2014—EMEA, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Newtown Square, PA: Project Management Institute.
Driving a product to the market safely, quickly, and cheaply is the best way for a pharmaceutical (pharma) firm to be successful. Pharmaceutical companies encounter enormous challenges during the long product-development process. Today's fast-paced competition requires efficiency in all aspects of business. The identification of risks at the right stage and an effective mitigation plan are key factors for success, both financially and technically.
The complex drug-development process from lab to launch includes management of several business processes, such as technical development using quality by design, regulatory strategy, clinical studies, and supply chain.
The pharmaceutical industry also has its own obstacles to profitability. Higher “first to market” competition in developing generic drugs, more stringent regulatory requirements, and increasing research and development R & 'D costs for innovative new drugs force the industry to restructure the strategies to reduce the internal costs.
In general, it takes 10 to 15 years and researching approximately 10,000 molecules to launch one new product to the market. The activities during this period need coordination between many internal functional groups, such as R & D , regulatory, legal, finance, supply chain, sales, and marketing, as well as external partners. The efficiency in coordination between different functional groups is crucial.
As the pharma industry learns the importance of focusing on a single product while developing multiple products in parallel, the use of project management strategies is becoming more and more popular. Inherent risks in every stage of the science of developing a new product need to be managed effectively.
The integration of risk management into product development is the key to reducing time and cost. As the level of information increases with multiple possible scenarios during the life cycle of product development, the decision-making process becomes more complex. In other industries, project management takes greater responsibility in managing risks and implementing the risk-mitigation plan.

whatofyou: I want to know whether it comes with its gas guage, to know when to do a refill, or if it uses the fuel guage that comes on the dashboard of the vehicle? Thanks. Yes sir, it does come with an indicator. When the conversion kit is installed, an indicator or gauge is also installed on the dashboard, which shows you the level of gas in your tank or canister. When the gas runs out, the car just automatically switches back to running on petrol, as long as there is petrol in your fuel tank. Don' forget that after the conversion, your car or vehicle becomes a dual-fuel one, which can use either gas or petrol, during its journey. |

If know a pharmacist who owns a community pharmacy, find out his DAILY sales and then do the math and see for yourself what his monthly income stands at.
Thank you! A consultant project manager, can handle just one project for a pharmaceutical manufacturing firm, and collect millions in just one project as consultancy fees. That amount could exceed more than what a pharmacist makes as daily sales in 3 months. |

Jman06: You are the ignorant one here! Why do you keep deviating from your earlier stance that a project manager would earn higher than a pharmacist in a pharmaceutical firm Remember that was your initial submission.
And for your information, Pharmacy as a business is not like every other business just anybody can venture into. It is highly regulated and if you are in doubt, educate yourself about what it takes to open a pharmaceutical company.
In public service, medical doctors earn higher than pharmacists, I'm not disputing that. The reason for that is why JOHESU is on strike today. Even at that an entry level pharmacist in public hospitals is placed from CONHESS 9 which is from 170k.
In the private sector, more pharmacists earn better than medical doctors. Even when they work for other pharmacists in community pharmacies, they earn better than their medical doctor friends because their salaries are regulated by P.C.N. Many private clinics don't pay medical doctors above 50k. I know many working in private clinics who earn 50k per month. Then now compare full fledged pharmacists who have established their own businesses with even consultant medical doctors, the pharmacists earn far better. Not to talk about those who are into manufacturing, importation or distribution.
Now what is even the job prospects of your so called project manager, how many of them are employed and by who?? Please just do a Google search on "Project management in the pharmaceutical industry." You will see a lot of info concerning that aspect of the pharma industry.

You would not believe the number of people who are scammed and don't even bother to go through the process of getting the police to track the destination of the money taking from them. Something that has become easier due to BVN. But most people would just leave it to God. I agree that people hardly ever report the loss of their phones to the police, as most times very little or nothing gets done, even when they do so. But people usually report scams to the police however, and it takes forever for them to do anything about it. From uncooperative bank staff, to nonchalant telcos to lackadaisical police officers, it takes several months before anything gets done, and some people just end up getting frustrated and dropping the case. My neighbour's car was stolen in February last year, and reported to the police the same day it went missing. einsteine: There are ways to track a phone without sim card.
Using the IMEI number of a phone, you can know the current sim that is being used in the phone. So unless there is no sim in the phone, that's when it will be tracked. Lots of criminals are being caught with this everyday because they tink once they throw away the sim in the phone, that's all. Unfortunately for criminals, each time you make a phone call, the IMEI number is transmitted as part of the call information and that's how phone thieves are tracked. Solstar: Serial Number + OS tracking + Phone RF/Mast Triangulation to narrow in the search, then drive to the location to use google map + GPRS to location 4 real time tracking of the phone/device.
Your phone is actually a tracking device. No savvy criminal will use a phone with a popular OS.
It begins and ends with OS and Sim tracking. So how come more stolen phones are not being recovered daily, if this is all it takes to track down phone thieves? Even the telcos hardly ever want to help, when it comes to tracking calls or releasing call details of phone lines used by criminals. Abba Kyari's efforts just goes to show that crime can be curbed in this country, or reduced to a minimum, if only all police officers were willing to use their brains, and also carry out their duties to the best of their ability. God bless Kyari! |
