PoliticsThe Orders For Bail Of Dasuki, Kanu Should Be Obeyed - Falana by LaurelP(op): 8:16am On Jan 11, 2016
For 16 years that the Peoples Democratic Party was in power, the federal government exhibited total contempt for the Rule of Law.The Constitution and other laws were breached with impunity while court orders were disobeyed on a regular basis. In the famous case of Attorney-General of Lagos State v Attorney-General of the Federation (2005) 2 WRN 1 at 150, the Supreme Court held that “In our democracy all the Governments of this country, as well as organizations and individuals must kowtow to the due process and this they can vindicate by resorting to the courts for redress in the event of any grievance.”Falana

One of the reasons why Nigerians voted for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) during the last general election was his promise to fight corruption and end impunity in the country. Upon winning the election, President Buhari further pledged to abide by the Rule of Law. To that extent, he has a duty to ensure thatall organs and officials of the Government operate within the ambit of the law. In particular, he should not allow overzealous security personnel to engage in any form of impunity and thereby expose the Government to unwarranted embarrassment.
In July last year, the State Security Service (SSS) searched the private residence of former NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) at Abuja. When Col Dasuki alleged that his house was illegally searched, I pointed out that the action of the SSS was justified as there was a search warrant validly issued by a magistrate court in the federal capital territory that authorised the search. He was eventually charged with money laundering and criminal diversion of huge sums of public fund before the Federal High Court and the Federal Capital Territory High Court at Abuja.

Notwithstanding the gravity of the offences, both courts have admitted him to bail. But after he had met the bail conditions the SSS decided to rearrest himat the gate of Kuje prisons on the ground that investigations have not been concluded in respect of other criminal allegations.
The decision of the SSS to ignore the order admitting Col Dasuki to bail coupled with the failure to re-arraign him on fresh charges is tantamount to impunity in every material respect. If the federal government were aggrieved by the order admitting Col. Dasuki to bail it should have challenged it in the Court of Appeal. Much as the Nigerian people are fully behind the Buhari Administration in the patriotic move to recover the looted wealth of the nation, the federal government should be advised to ensure that the procedure for the loot recovery meets the tenets of the rule of law.The SSS and other security agencies should therefore refrain from allowing corruption to fight back by playing into the hands of the criminal suspects who have committed crimes against humanity by diverting money earmarked for the procurement of arms and armament to fight the terrorists.

In the same vein, the order admitting the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, to bail should also be complied with.
If the federal government has other charges against both suspects it should file them in the court. There is no provision for keeping criminal suspects at the pleasure of security officials. Meanwhile, all valid and subsisting orders made by courts in favour of criminal suspects should be obeyed without further delay.
To ensure that suspects are no longer held in custody in any part of Nigeria without any legal justification, section 34 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act has imposed a duty on each Chief Judges to designate a Chief Magistrate and a Judge of the High Court to visit all police stations and other detention centers within their jurisdiction, at least once a month. During such visits, appropriate directives shall be given while any officer who detains any person illegally will be sanctioned.

I was surprised too. I first won award in this section in 2009, that's about 7 years ago. I hardly have time again since I floated my own career blog, JarusHub.

However, the award did not say I need to be active. I made not less than 100 posts in this section in 2015, and I think it's by quality, not necessarily quantity.

Well, I'm not looking for job, and you don't expect me to be posting here on daily basis. Most times, I come here when people tag me or when a thread hit homepage. That is why they called the award motivator/mentor, not regular active poster.
Ok I get you now.
But we need more of you nah.
I remember those days you used to be very active on here.
I no know why u come run.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Is 30k Salary Good For A Second Class Upper Student(b.sc) by LaurelP(m): 11:00pm On Jan 07, 2016
mrking3:
most folks working in Big coys today were once a biginner! They started somewhere! I read a success story of one of my twitter followers today how he rose from being a mere sales Rep with paultry salary as a Bsc holder as at 2011 but today, within the shortest period of 4yrs or there about, he's now the Head of Operations and National sales manager for SLOT systems (mobile phones). See, let me tell you bluntly, Nigeria isn't a country where you think you can automatically get your career job after school. Most bankers today aren't career bankers by profession! That's a pointer to the fact why you find Geologist, pharmacist lawyers etc working in Banking Halls. I never planned going into marketing or sales coz its far from my Passion! But due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to go into it! With full spirit and gradually, I build a career in it! Till date, I still apply for Higher Roles in same industry! My dear, it only takes the Grace of Almighty God to get something good just after passing out! There's no way you'll tell me that he wount make out time for Interviews! That's a crappy excuse! Even bankers as tight as their job is, still make out time for Job Interviews.
Oga your last paragraph is a big lie.
There are jobs you do that don't even give you time for yourself talk more of interviews.
You see its not always about money, its more about his future career prospects.

I will never advise someone to take a job he's not happy about. Its one of the greatest health and happiness killers, working in a job you're not happy about. No matter the money.

The boy stays with his folks, clearly they are not too bothered about him getting a job, he's just 25. The best thing for him is to sharpen his employability skills, take courses, computer skills.
The job will come, even if it's not in a bank or oil company, he will get a job.
But telling him to quickly grab a crappy job that will do nothing more than waste his time is inappropriate.

my opinion

bros drop this second class upper shit! It wount put food on your table in present day Nigeria. I know a lot of folks with crazy 2.1 still roaming the streets! Thank Goodness that you're still below 26yrs of Age. Atleast, coys like Access Bank, Pwc, Kpmg, Gsk, Uacn, Zenith Bank, Nbc etal, will surely invite you for aptitude Test hence you fall within their requirements. Key Requirements for this coys - (Bsc. 2.1 and 24-26 max, Nysc) even with my 4.23 Cgpa, age denied me acess from applying for job opening with these Great world class firms. Chief, no need to think about taking this offer or not, there's dignity in Labour. Grab this offer fast and build your work experience for Greater opportunity. That's the problem with most Freshers! Everybody wanna start with big coys with big pay with little or no experience. After Nysc, I wasted good 2yrs! Thinking I would get something better with my 2.1 but all to no avail. I had to settle with an 18k marketing job after much! Today, to the Glory of God, I earn Six figures as A sales Person. Take the advice of this honourable house bro! You have to start somewhere! Just as someone here rightly opine! You're lucky to get something immediately after passing out. Its a rare privilege especially at a time most firms are cutting down staff and laying workers off. Peace out Bro!
What if doesn't give him time to look for the job he desires?
What if it doesn't align with his career line?
What if he doesn't like the job?
