PoliticsWe’re Leaving Solid Economic Legacies Behind—okonjo-iweala by Lawcurrent(op): 1:20am On May 12, 2015
https://scannewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Forbes-Names-Okonjo-Iweala-Among-5-Unsung-Leaders-of-2014.jpg
ABUJA — The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said yesterday that despite the economic challenges the country is facing, the Jonathan administration is leaving some solid economic legacies for the incoming Buhari government.
Insisting that “the allegations that the economy is in ruins are absolutely untrue,” the minister warned those she claimed were running the economy down for political gains, saying there could be unintended consequences of loss of investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.
*Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala
*Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala
According to her, “we cannot take away the fact that the Jonathan administration, in spite of the challenges caused by 50 per cent decline in the price of oil, has made a clear and measurable difference in many important areas and anyone who says nothing has been done and nothing is being left behind is being very unfair to facts and to history.
“Attempts to rewrite history will not stand. You cannot just wipe the slate clean for political reasons. We are not perfect but no one can take away the fact that we are leaving some good legacies behind.”
Sweeping, negative statements not in nation’s interest
The minister also advised politicians and opinion leaders not to talk down the economy because negative and unfactual comments on the economy can have negative impact on the economy, the exchange rate and the stock market and reduce investor confidence. Her words: “These negative and unsubstantiated comments are not wise because they can lead to what we do not want for the economy.
“There is nothing wrong with factual assessments of the economy. I have always told Nigerians the truth about the economy. But sweeping and negative statements are not in the interest of the country. The statements being made by some personalities about the economy collapsing are not only incorrect they are also potentially dangerous.
Sectors that witnessedgreat revolution
She identified the agricultural sector which has seen the rise in food production with attendant positive effect on food prices as one major legacy of the Jonathan government. She then listed other sectors that witnessed great revolution which include “the National Industrial Revolution scheme and the Automotive Policy whose implementation has led to the opening of factories for car manufacturing and assembly for the first time in the country.
“The impressive rise in the cement production due to positive government policies. Nigeria is now a net exporter of cement “The creation of about 1.4 million jobs a year out of the 1.8m needed. “Various job creation and job enhancement schemes such as Youwin which has seen the creation of over 27,000 jobs by young entrepreneurs sponsored and trained by government for other youths; the Graduate Internship Scheme.
“The creation of the NMRC which is helping to create a mortgage market and is helping to provide affordable housing for Nigerians. “The recently launched Development Bank of Nigeria which will help to achieve strong growth of small businesses by providing SMEs, for the first time in recent memory, affordable interest loans of up to 10 years.
“The support for the creative industries which has helped to strengthen the capacity of script writers, producers, directors and other professionals in the motion picture industry and led, in turn, to the production of higher quality films, and creation of more jobs.”

PoliticsRe: Military: Fleeing Boko Haram On Rampage by Lawcurrent(m): 5:40pm On Mar 02, 2015
koboko69:
Dear Niaralanders,

It is no news that the news media have been flooded with news of success against Boko Haram. A lot comes to mind with this "Sudden Success".

What were the Generals doing wrong for the past 5 years that they suddenly started getting right few weeks to elections?

The time table for elections have been slated long before now, dont you find it funny that, in a last minute effort to shift the elections, the military suddenly chose the date for slated for elections as the day "A FINAL ONSLAGHT AGAINST BOKOHARAM WILL COMMENCE". It is quite interesting that a battle that have been going on for over 5 years is now being won in 6weeks.

This are our presidents words about BH in the past

Compare to a Serious General;

It is a pity that Bokoharam was allowed to thrive and kill innocent citizens, gallant soldiers and officers mostly junior officers for the selfish, monetary, and political gains of this government.

Did Jonathan just wake up from his slumber few weeks to elections? What could have be done long ago is just being done now. Suddenly Jonathan knows the road tO mubi and other troubled spots, now he knows he has to reward gallant soldiers, now he knows he has to visit troubled zone in other to boost the morale of troops. Are this necessities just dawning on him just because of elections. The blood of soldiers and officers lost in this battle because of the greediness and quest for power by this government will surely fight for them.

I have always maintained that the Nigerian Armed forces can deal with this menace but for the pot belly Generals, selfish politicians, and wicked president, alot of lives were allowed to waste.

What results do you expect when you sit back and always wait for an attack to repel. I do not blame soldiers and officers who abadon their riffles and flee. When thos guys aee coming for an attack they come in numbers, with almost unlimited ammo, and a very high morale. You give a soldier 60 to 90 rounds of ammunition, which will be expended in no time once the rifle is set to rapid. Do you expect them to fight with their raw hands? Now a lot of them have been distributed to various military formations to be dismissed there by injecting unemployed trained soldiers into the streets causing more dangers for the populace.

Few weeks to elections, the calous Generals just realized they have to take the battle to the enemies. SHAME ON THIS GOVERNMENT! SHAME ON THE CABALS, SHAME ON THE GENERALS.

EVEN IF PRESIDENT JONATHAN TAKES A RIFFLE AND HEAD FOR SAMBISA NOW;

I have decided for CHANGE and no amount of scripted performance and propaganda can change my mind!!!

WE ALL KNOW WHY BOKOHARAM MENACE WAS ALLOWED TO THRIVE FOR SO LONG NOW

TRIBUTES TO THE SOLDIERS AND OFFICERS WHO LOST THEIR LIFE IN THIS BATTLE. RIP TO THE MANY INNOCENT CITIZENS KILLED BECAUSE OF AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT
MUMU, IT'S A PITY YOU DID NOT SHARE THE LINK OF BUHARI SPEECH. SHAME ON YOU!!!
PoliticsIts Now Official: Boko Haram Declares Support For Buhari And Apc! by Lawcurrent(op): 2:31am On Mar 02, 2015
https://scannewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Boko-Haram-660x330.jpg

1. First they nominated Buhari to negotiate with the
Federal Government on their behalf but sensing the
damage this might cause to his political ambition,he
declined.
2. Then Buhari called on the FGN and warned them
against using the police and Army to kill boko haram
members.
3. Again Buhari declared that the fight against boko
haram is against the north.
4. A member of British parliament and EU parliament
separately called for the investigation of APC for
sponsoring insurgency in Nigeria, but till today that
investigation appear to have been effectively checked
and aborted with some “Hollywood” stunts by APC/
Buhari and their strategists.
5. With almost every Nigerian believing that boko
haram is the military wing of APC and doing Buhari’s
bidding, a “Hollywood” stunt was pulled in Kaduna
where we were told that boko haram made an
unsuccessful attempt on Buhari’s life.
The poor retired general and former head of state was
not caught unawares though as he all of a sudden was
seen in an armoured SUV that day, again he looked
unperturbed after the performance.
Then we were told that boko haram couldn’t have
attempted to kill him if he was there sponsor.
6. Then entered a movie mercenary from Australia who
against all flow of logic made the most unintelligent
allegation in recent times.
He accussed Modu Sherif and Gen.Ihejirika of being the
sponsors of boko haram.
This was happening immediately Sherif defected to
PDP, but all the while he was in APC ,he didn’t sponsor
boko haram.
Secondly,it was the same Ihejirika that some elements
threatened to take to the International Criminal Court
because of the ferocity of his war against boko haram.
Now some incredible Nigerians want to use all these
stunts to distance Buhari and APC from boko haram.
7. Then followed massive image laundering activities
for APC and Buhari to the extent that some incredible
Nigerians unintelligently and illogically accused
President Goodluck of sponsoring boko haram, the
same boko haram that was causing his government
severe headache.
Meanwhile Buhari is a muslim and boko haram claim
they are muslims and attempted creating Islamic
caliphate not Christian empire.
The boko haramites are from northern Nigeria -Buhari’s
enclave not from Ijaw land.
Thirdly, they operate within Buhari’s geographical
north not Niger Delta or southern Nigeria.
They thrive and are welcome by states controlled by
Buhari’s party-APC,as state governors and
governments fold their arms and keep watching event.
How can any reasonable and intelligent person not
know that Buhari is connected to Boko haram?
8. Then APC kicks off their campaign with their prime
message centred primarily on insecurity,a situation
created by the activities of boko haram.
They encouraged and celebrated every move of boko
haram making optimal political profit from their
activities.
9. Most APC elites opposed to Jonathan kept mute and
did not condemn the activities of boko haram.
They find it more auspicious to berate the FGN and
denigrate the efforts of our security organisations in
tackling the insurgents.
10. Then WHAAAM! Boko haram comes out boldly to
declare their support for Buhari/APC (see link below)
Is any one in doubt anymore that Buhari and his
ambition/desperation to rule Nigeria again after 30
years has something to do with boko haram?
Is anyone in doubt anymore that APC is BOKO PARTY?
Will Nigerians vote Boko Haram into power?
NOOOOOOO!

The Last Days at Forcados High Schooltells the story of Jimi Solade, the most
popular boy at the elite Forcados High School. As he begins his final
year in senior secondary together with his friends, the sweet-hearted
and devout Nene and Ansa, the nerdy art genius, he’s determined it’s
going to be his best year yet. But Jimi’s rogue brother, Wole, is back
– which means trouble can’t be far behind. Then there’s Efua, the
beautiful and mysterious new girl in class who seems to have no time
for boys – including Jimi. But when Jimi’s mother falls ill, he
realizes that things are about to change - and not necessarily in a
