Hi. I am currently learning how to create database in java using SQL. I have successfully implemented commands like add new record, delete new record, update new record, next record, previous record, first record and last record. I am now looking forward to creating a search command in the database but i'm lost on how to go about it. The code is actually my concern. Please anyone with an idea should help me out.

First, in the structure of your database while creating it, make an [b] id e.g. in the case of Facebook or username in the case of NL and most sites, you must have a parameter that has an index of PRIMARY which means the value of this input can only be taken on one table row and no other i.e. only one person can use such username or id.

You can query such column after selecting database and connecting to it with select queries like the below

"SELECT * FROM users WHERE id = ?", id

" SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = ?", username


NB: users was used as name of db
id and usernames after comma is how you'll retrieve your cars from db e.g. $_POST or $_REQUEST in PHP[/b]

Zuck never finished and he learnt Programming from his Engineer dad as a kid, Bezos didnt study Comp Sci, he studied Electrical Eng and CS, the twin brother of CPE which is the equivalent of Electronics Eng.
You went on from saying CE is a little to CS to those who studied CS and are doing great... Who said its what they learnt in School that gets them where they are? Do we have any of their equivalent in Nigeria? Atleast right now? How many CS graduates do we have? We are comparing both courses, not their alumnus

I personally I would like to study computer science because of my Intrest in programming and all sorts. bit people say computer engineering is more preferred ,please I want some advise.... and the really issue here is in my school (oou) am currently studying comp engineering but planning to switch to science, its only hardwares that's being taught and it really bores me..

Computer Engineering is the thing. You're still in the early stages there. When you get to finals, you'd look back and laugh off CS. With CE, in programminf you are going to do C, Java, Assembly, C++ and overall Software Development and Engineering. With CS, its Pascal, Q basic, Java and some C++ maybe. You can always pick whatever yo wanna learn later on. I'm a 400L CE student and can compete with both Electrical/Electronics Eng and CS. CE is a combo of great overlaps of both and the things that matters and bridges it together. You can always learn what you want in IT.... I do Web/Mobile Applications development and Software Dev better than most CS students I've met.

I have been clueless on a couple of things for sometime now. Ymodulus, I'll need you to mentor me while I start something and climb the ladder too.
You mind if I PM you so we can talk better on Whatsapp.

Its like you wrote that piece for me. Its good to know some people have gone through my situation
I'm currently on a low in my Academics too and its really disheartening. My FirstClass seem to be in the mud already. I started off well and then things took the nosedive. My Dad who is a FirstClass Pol Science graduate and Lecturer thinks I'm not putting the effort. I'm Academically frustrated right now.

Also, a friend of mine who is self funded may need some mentoring on how to get Fully funded scholarship hopefully like yours. He is in his final semester now. Any help sir?
