No one knew what was bothering 7-month-old Mya Whittington. Her discomfort stumped her parents and doctors. She was finally hospitalized — and a 2-inch feather eventually poked its way out of her neck, shocking everyone.
“We were just pretty much in disbelief,” Mya’s dad, Aaron Whittington, 26, told ABCNews.com.

The mystery of Mya’s pain started on Saturday.

“I was at work and my wife noticed that the left side of her neck had started to swell, and she called me at work and asked if we should take her to the emergency room,” Whittington said.

The couple decided to wait, thinking that Mya just had a swollen gland. They changed their minds the next morning.

“Sunday morning, when we woke up, it had doubled in size and there was a pimple-looking thing on the end of it,” he said. “We’re looking at it and going, ‘There’s no way this is a swollen gland.’”


Mya was admitted to a hospital near the family’s home in Hutchinson, Kansas. Doctors thought she had a staph infection of her lymph nodes.

But when they tried to drain the bump, nothing came out. Hours later, Aaron Whittington and his wife Emma noticed what appeared to be a “half-inch string” protruding from Mya’s face.

“[The pediatrician] threw on gloves and she pulled out a 2-inch feather and she’s like, ‘It’s a feather.’ And we’re like, ‘What do you mean it’s a feather?’ And she showed us,” Whittington said, still in disbelief.

“As far as how the feather got into the side of the neck, our doctor says we’ll probably never really know,” he said. “But her best guess is that she either inhaled it or tried swallowing it and it got lodged in the throat somewhere, and the body, just being crazy, just started to reject it and force it out the side of her neck.”

The parents now remember Mya crying and puling at the area under her left ear over the past few weeks, but they thought she might be getting an ear infection or teething.

The little girl is now “almost 100 percent recovered,” according to Whittington. Doctors have checked her out and determined that she will not need surgery. They say her body will heal on its own.

The Whittingtons say they are grateful for Mya’s health and have been shocked that the story has gone global.

“We’ve been extremely, extremely surprised,” Aaron Whittington said. “We’ve gotten stories in Kenya, India, the U.K. It’s really crazy.”

Good cops are rare but they sure exist! Struggling father gets a surprise inside his ticket after being stopped by an officer for an expired registration.

A cop in Texas wrapped a $100 bill in a traffic ticket he issued to 25-year-old Hayden Carlo. The struggling father was pulled over by the Plano police officer for an expired registration.

Carlo immediately told the officer that he had no excuse for the expired registration, he simply didn’t have the money to renew it, reports CBS News. Carlo recalled:

“I said there’s no explanation for why I haven’t done it, except I don’t have the money … it was either feed my kids or get my registration done.”

He was issued a citation for his expired tabs — plus a little something extra. Carlo explained how he discovered the police officer’s surprise gift, saying, “I opened it up and there’s a $100 bill. I broke down in my car what else could I do?”


With the money given to him by the Plano police officer, the father of two was able to renew the registration for his car, along with his wife’s car. The officer wishes to remain anonymous, but his co-workers are planning on honoring him anyway.

David Tilley, a spokesman for the Plano police department, stated, “As he told me, this man needed it more than him, and it was the right thing to do.” While it may have been a simple act for the Texas cop to give Hayden Carlo $100, it is not something that the working father will forget anytime soon. Carlo stated:

“He helped me out when I needed it and I appreciate that. I’ll never forget that man. It definitely restored my faith in God.”

It is an act that Carlo’s grandfather, Billy McIntire, will not soon forget either. McIntire, who alerted the department to the kind gesture in a letter, stated, “I get emotional when we talk about this type of thing. You just don’t find that many officers who would do this type of thing.”

We are happy to praise the kind actions of the anonymous police officer who hid a $100 bill inside a ticket he handed to Hayden Carlo.

I remember last year there was this one guy, a chemical engineering student, that was planning on bombing my school, he was placing orders online for illegal weapons and fortunately, the FBI found out and caught him before he could carry out his bombing plan. It was effing scary when the news broke out cus now he is behind bars for life. He had been carefully planning for years to bomb our school and had a journal about it and videos and stuff.

A relative of the 20 year-old who killed at least 26 people including 20 children when he stormed Sandy Hook elementary school and sporadically opened fire has said he was “obviously not well”.

Family friends in Newtown also described the young man as troubled and described his mother Nancy as very rigid. “[Adam] was not connected with the other kids,” said one friend.

Late today, police said Nancy Lanza’s body was found in the family home. According to sources, Lanza shot his mother in the face, then left the house armed with at least two semi-automatic handguns and a semi-automatic rifle.

State and federal authorities believe his mother may have once worked at the elementary school where Adam went on his deadly rampage, although she was not a teacher, according to relatives, perhaps a volunteer.

As part of the investigation authorities searched the New Jersey apartment of Adam’s older brother Ryan in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Police had initially identified Ryan as the killer, until he sent out a series of Facebook posts saying it wasn’t him and that he was at work all day.

Sources told ABC News that Ryan, 24, works as a senior person in Ernst and Young’s tax practice in Manhattan.
“He’s a tax guy and he is clean as a whistle,” a source familiar with his work said.

Ryan has worked at the firm 4 years.

Today the NYPD and FBI went to Ernst & Young and removed Ryan’s laptop and other possessions, which is part of the normal investigative process.

Officials were interviewing Ryan and his father, but neither person was under any suspicion, multiple sources said.

Twenty children died today when a heavily armed man invaded a Newtown, Conn., elementary school and sprayed staffs and students with bullets.

The gunman, identified as Adam Lanza, 20, was found dead in the school.

Lt. Paul Vance said 18 children died in the school and two more died later in a hospital. Six adults were also slain, bringing the total to 26.

In addition to the casualties at the school, Lanza’s mother Nancy Lanza was killed in her home, federal and state sources told ABC News.

According to sources, Lanza shot his mother in the face, then left his house armed with at least two semi automatic handguns, a Glock and a Sig Sauer, and a semi automatic rifle. He was also wearing a bullet proof vest.

Lanza drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School and continued his rampage, killing 26 people, authorities said. He was found dead at the school. It appears that he died from what is believed to be a self inflicted gunshot wound. The rifle was found in his car.

In the early confusion surrounding the investigation, federal sources initially identified the suspect as Adam’s older brother Ryan Lanza, 24. He is being questioned by police.

“Evil visited this community today,” Gov. Dan Malloy said at a news conference this evening.

First grade teacher Kaitlin Roig, 29, locked her 14 students in a class bathroom and listened to “tons of shooting” until police came to help.

“It was horrific,” Roig said. “I thought we were going to die.”
She said that the terrified kids were saying, “I just want Christmas…I don’t want to die. I just want to have Christmas.”

A tearful President Obama said there’s “not a parent in America who doesn’t feel the overwhelming grief that I do.”

The president had to pause to compose himself after saying these were “beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10.” As he continued with his statement, Obama wiped away tears from each eye.

The alert at the school ended when Vance announced, “The shooter is deceased inside the building. The public is not in danger.”

The massacre prompted the town of Newtown to lock down all its schools and draw SWAT teams to the school, authorities said today.

Authorities initially believed that there were two gunmen and were searching cars around the school, but authorities do not appear to be looking for another gunman.

It is the second worst mass shooting in U.S. history, exceeded only by the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007 when 32 were killed before the shooter turned the gun on himself. Today’s carnage exceeds the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in which 13 died and 24 were injured.

The Newtown shooting comes three days after masked gunman Jacob Roberts opened fire in a busy Oregon mall, killing two before turning the gun on himself.

Today’s shooting occurred at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, which includes 450 students in grades K-4. The town is located about 12 miles east of Danbury.

State Police received the first 911 call at 9:41 a.m. and immediately began sending emergency units from the western part of the state.

Initial 911 calls stated that multiple students were trapped in a classroom, possibly with a gunman, according to a Connecticut State Police source.

Lt. Paul Vance said that on-duty and off-duty officers swarmed to the school and quickly checked “every door, every crack, every crevice” in the building looking for the gunman and evacuating children.

Three patients have been taken to Danbury Hospital, which is also on lockdown, according to the hospital’s Facebook page.

“Out of abundance of caution and not because of any direct threat Danbury Hospital is under lockdown,” the statement said. “This allows us simply to focus on the important work at hand.”

Newtown Public School District secretary of superintendent Kathy June said in a statement that the district’s schools were locked down because of the report of a shooting. “The district is taking preventive measures by putting all schools in lockdown until we ensure the safety of all students and staff,” she said.

State police sent SWAT team units to Newtown.
All public and private schools in the town were on lockdown.

“We have increased our police presence at all Danbury Public Schools due to the events in Newtown. Pray for the victims,” Newtown Mayor Boughton tweeted.

State emergency management officials said ambulances and other units were also en route and staging near the school.

A message on the school district website says that all afternoon kindergarten is cancelled today and there will be no midday bus runs.

46 Yr Old Father Of 3 Dies After Dancing Gangnam Style


A father collapsed and died of a heart attack in front of his wife and co-workers minutes after dancing energetically to Gangnam Style at his office Christmas party.

Eamonn Kilbride, 46, had been imitating the vigorous dance moves of the Korean YouTube hit when he began to suffer from chest pains on Saturday evening.

Shocked colleagues from the Thwaites brewery in Blackburn looked on as paramedics tried in vain to revive the Irish father of three at the office party.
His wife Julie was with him celebrating her birthday at the event at the Whitehall Hotel in Darwen, Lancashire.

Mr Kilbride began to complain of chest pains shortly before he collapsed, whereupon his wife tried to save his life using CPR.

Although paramedics were on the scene just five minutes later, the IT manager was pronounced dead on arrival at Royal Blackburn Hospital shortly after 11.30pm.

Mrs Kilbride, from Burnley, paid tribute to the 'loving husband' she married 23 years ago, and said he was a man who always put his family first.
'I want people to know how he would help anybody whether it was a life-long friend, or someone he had just met,' she said.
'He was a great family man and he worked so hard. Eamonn was always the life of the party and loved dancing.

'We were having a fantastic time at the Christmas party and Eamonn had just finished dancing to Gangnam Style. He was up on stage and entertaining everybody.

'He said he had a bit of a pain and just collapsed. I tried to revive him until the ambulance got there, but by the time he got to the hospital he was gone.'

Mr Kilbride moved to Burnley from Ireland in 1985, and became a staunch Liverpool fan in his adopted country.
His wife said: 'Eamonn was such an intelligent man, he inspired our children and made sure they had a good education.'
Mr Kilbride, a keen golfer, had three children - Laurajade, 22, Jack, 21, and Conor, 18, who are all at university.

Neil Bullows, proprietor of the Whitehall Hotel, said: 'It is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with his family.
'It is horrendous and an awful time of year for it to happen.'
Mr Kilbride's funeral will take place next Wednesday at St Mary's RC Church in Burnley.

I am an Engineer; a mechanical engineer for the fact. If you think that is an invention, I tell you that you either know not the meaning of invention or just plain confused. For anybody to describe that as an aircraft is so absurd because it failed all the principles of aerodynamics expected of an aerial vehicle. ditto a marine/water craft.

Nigeria technological development doesn't require us inventing the wheel at all (not to mention a terrible wheel). Japanese and American examples cited are weak and incorrect. I expect you to refer to South Korea, Indian or Brazilian technological examples and show me where they had to go way back to constructing ridiculous contraption in name of "invention" or technological development.

Technology has gone much much ahead, if and when we are ready to take the dive, we have to go far downstream and not crudely backward.

Fabian Thylmann was arrested last week on a German warrant and is currently in custody in Belgium, where he lives. Ulrich Bremer, a spokesman for prosecutors in Cologne, said Tuesday that several properties including his home were searched last week.

Bremer says it isn’t clear when Thylmann might be extradited to Germany. He could not say whether anyone else is under investigation or give further details of the case.

Boss and popular rapper Rick Ross has cancelled his scheduled concerts in Charlotte and Greensboro amid death threats

A Maybach Music Group concert tour headlining Rick Ross was scheduled to appear Friday in Greensboro and Saturday at the Bojangles Coliseum. Rappers Wale and Meek Mill were scheduled to appear as well.
The theats stem from the Gangster Disciples, who have a beef with Ross. The North Carolina Chapter recently put out a YouTube video warning him to stay out of Charlotte.

Tickets can be refunded starting Friday, the Live Nation Entertainment group said in a statement. No specific reason was given for the cancellations.

“I think fans should be concerned. I think the parents should be concerned because you never know,” said Paul Scott, a minister from Durham who is also a Hip Hop journalist.

Scott has been highly critical of the violence sparked by rap artists. “Hip Hop does not represent the real street, the commercial Hip Hop that Rick Ross promotes represents Wall Street and Wall Street cares nothing about the loss of human life if they can make a dollar.”

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police released a statement Wednesday before the cancellation, saying officers would remain vigilant to ensure safety..


Deon Cole is a friend of Ross and is the Assistant Programming Director for Power 98. He didn’t believe that fans have anything to worry about.

In the rap video the Disciples are upset because Ross mentions the name of the founder of the street gang and uses the Star of David to promote himself.

That symbol is used by the gang. Cole believes that one day Ross and the Disciples will work out their problems.

Scott says he wouldn’t take the chance and if his kids asked to go he would say no.

Rick Ross however claims the cancellation isn’t ‘cos of death threats but poor business management by his promoter

“I’m a certified man, I am a real boss and this is something that everybody need to understand, gangsters move in silence,” Ross said.
