I think u read the wrong news. It was the indigenous people of Aba, not PDP.

They said the decision is 'provocative' because Aba is not 'no man's land'.

Abia state does not want Anambra man as mayor, even though he is a resident and pays his taxes in Abia state.

UMUAHIA-The Indigenous People of Aba Ngwa, comprising 24 communities in Aba North and Aba South council areas of Abia State, have vowed to resist Governor Alex Otti’s proposed appointment of a non-indigene as the mayor of Aba.

The Governor had during an event at the Aba Sports Club, disclosed that he will appoint a billionaire like Ide John Udeagbala as the mayor of Aba among others.

Otti stated that all residents of Aba are one and the same people, stressing that every resident is an indigene of the city.

Reacting to the Governor’s statement, the Indigenous People of Aba under the umbrella body of the Aba Ngwa People’s Forum, at the end of their meeting in Aba, described the Governor’s statement as unacceptable and provoking and warned that Aba is not ‘a no man’s land’.

It warned that it will never accept a non-indigene of Aba as the mayor or transition committee chairman of the two council areas in Aba, stressing that such appointments do not occur in other metropolitan cities like Port Harcourt, Awka and Owerri.

They urged the Governor to appoint non-indigenes as mayors and transition committee chairmen in Umuahia, Bende, Ohafia and other areas of the state, if he must appoint a non-indigene to preside over Aba.

The Forum also alleged that the Governor had excluded the people of Aba South from appointments to the State Executive Council and market leadership positions in the state.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Mr. Ogechukwu Ogbonna, Engr. Greg Obinna and Mr. Chintua Nwagba, the Forum urged Otti to give the indigenous their deserved respect.

The forum noted that the indigenous people of Aba have been living in peace with the non-indigenous neighbours and won’t accept any inciting comments which could cause acrimony between the indigenous people and other residents of the city.

Maduabuchi: 'This situation is not as simple as it sounds to the man of the street. This is because the issue the Supreme Court rules are not applicable here because this appeal is not from the court of appeal, it is from the presidential election petition court so don't mistake it for the court of appeal. Court of appeal 63, the presidential election petition Court 65. The presidential election petition court is a court of limited jurisdiction. In fact, it has only one jurisdiction, to determine whether a president is validly elected or not. That is the simple jurisdiction.

It cannot determine whether I own land or not. The presidential election petition Court cannot determine whether I was negligent in driving my car, it is only limited to one thing, and in providing that limited jurisdiction specific rules were made to guide it because of the special and specific nature of that jurisdiction right, so you don't apply the Supreme Court rules generally to presidential election petition Court appeals, you apply the Electoral act, which has told you how you go about it. An election petition is to be presented within 21 days right after, you cannot introduce certain things, particularly if they affect a ground for challenging that election, and one of the grounds of challenging an election is that the person was not qualified.
So if you want to introduce anything after 21days which tends to show that that person is not qualified the law says no, you can't. Once 21 days closes that's all. That's in section 137 of the electoral act, and this is an election that happened in February and today is October 3. How can we be talking of bringing in New Evidence?

Maduabuchi: It starts 21 days after the result is declared so...

Interviewer: So that renders all of this uh um it looks to me as if it is Dead on Arrival. Is that what you're saying?

The Senate has summoned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the ministers of Health and FCT Ali Pate and Nyesom Wike respectively over the death of Ms Greatness Olorunfemi at the Maitama General Hospital last Tuesday.

Greatness Olorunfemi was a victim of ‘one chance’ criminals. They stabbed and threw her out of the vehicle she boarded along the Maitama/Kubwa Highway.

She was immediately rushed to Maitama General Hospital by Good Samaritans but the facility did not attend to her for not providing a police report.

Disturbed by the sad development, the Senate through a motion sponsored by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, is instructing its committees on health and police to carry out a thorough investigation on Olorunfemi’s death and report back in two weeks’ time.

The senators are also insisting that Maitama General Hospital be sued for manslaughter.

Percentage doesnt really matter, unless you know the numbers of actual votes.
If strong players are up, the bottom votes will be like 2%, 3%.
When strong players are not up, the bottom votes percentages are higher.

The person that got evicted with 2% votes might have gotten more votes than the person that got evicted with 11% vote.
So you dont know the true picture unless everyone is up.
