Family › Re: This Is What My House Help Did To Me by Leez(m): 8:01am On Nov 24, 2015 |
Rukemi291: I work with a very wonderful organization and as my job demands, one of my very crucial academic meetings is always held outside Nigeria.
I am also married with a 1yr 11 month old son and pregnant (few weeks gone).... My husband works and lives in a town that is 4hours away from Lagos where I work.
The need for a house help arose when morning sickness started. So I told a lot of people in the office that I needed a girl. Luckily one of the staff told me she could help me send down her half sister who is 15years old and her mum can no longer carter for because they are poor. She said she's also with the girl's elder sister.
I spoke with the girl's mum, she was so excited and prayed for me and all she requested was for her girl to go to school. I promised her that the girl would go to school. The girl was brought to me on 19th October.
So I went in search of a school and I was lucky she was admited into a Lagos State Government School that is close by. The principal said that it was late actually but she doesn't want the girl to be idle at home, so she could resume immediately but her academic session would be from January. I paid all d fees and got her two sets of uniform. She started school early this month.
My son has also started school, so she drops him in school and picks him up when she's back too.
Fast forward to this time, d official assignment that would take me away from the country was close. I couldn't risk leaving her in Lagos with my super active toddler for almost two weeks that I would be away. I had to take them to my husband.
Early on Thursday, 19th, I received a call that my girl had left home with her belongings and she left a note that she was angry with me that I did not let her go to school and that if not that she loved my son ehn.....
My husband's job is a shift- based job and he was on night duty to be back home by 8am the morning she left.
A neighbour called my husband who was at work that the girl took my son to them very early in d morning that we sent her on an errand and that they should borrow her N500. They took my son from her and told her to wait for my husband to return. They said they did not know when she left.
The girl scattered the whole house took all the pieces of meat in d pot, the juice packs at home. I Knew she wouldn't get money, my husband isn't as careless.
My husband spoke with her mum that didn't sound surprised and all she said was that she would scold her when the girl comes home. Yes, d girl is home now.
I was devastated and destabilized for two days. I never ever maltreated this girl. My conscience is as clear as a gallon of distilled water.
Well, my son is now with my mum.
My mum also spoke with her mum that the girl said neighbors were calling her omo-odo (house girl). She left the 6th day she got there. We stay in a compound of 5 flats where everyone minds his business. So who called her a house-girl.
I think the mistake we made was that we got her a phone and even loaded the phone. My husband said he noticed she was always calling someone and he once heard her telling the receiver the address of where she was.
I really wish to visit her mum when I return and I hope to see her and ask her questions.
I really appreciate my family for staying with me throughout this period and I'm glad I'm not hypertensive maybe I'd have lost this pregnancy. And I thank God most that she didn't hurt my son because I never hurt her.
Well, it's all good. Life goes on.
I am not trying to discourage people from getting house helps.... seun no greee oya lala do d needful move all ds tales by moonlight to fictioon section |

Education › Re: Unilorin Set To Use Drones For Exam Monitoring And Surveillance by Leez(m): 4:46pm On Nov 22, 2015 |
wheesin: If the authorities of the University of Ilorin accede to suggestions by members of the institution's Drone Team, it is highly probable that the University will, in future, monitor examinations conducted within the campus with drones. The drones, developed by a team coordinated by Prof. Sulyman AbdulKareem of the Department of Chemical Engineering, added colours to the just concluded 40th anniversary/31st convocation ceremonies of the University. Other members of the Unilorin Drone Team include Dr. M.T. Yakubu of the Department of Biochemistry; Dr Babalola of the Department of Physics; Engineer Eric and Mr. Ahmed, both of the Department Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In separate interviews with Unilorin Bulletin last Thursday (November 12, 2015), the Co-ordinator of the team, Prof. AbdulKareem, and another key member of the team, Dr. Yakubu, said that drones can be used to monitor the conduct of examinations in future as well as general campus surveillance in conjunction with the security personnel”.
According to Prof. AbdulKareem, “the use of drones has come to stay because where you don't want to endanger human life, a machine, which a drone is, can go there and still get the information you need”. He pointed out that “drones, rather than infringing on human rights, actually protect human rights because the man who wants to do evil and knows that a machine can remotely capture his act, will not likely do it”. The Unilorin Drone Team Coordinator, who is the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, disclosed that some academic departments in the University have started showing interest in the use of the drone. He said, “I believe that apart from giving practical knowledge to those in Geography, Electrical Engineering and Physics, virtually any Department that may have a reason to capture events beyond what is in front of the camera, which has to be aerially covered, can use the drone.” Prof. AbdulKareem urged the University administration to challenge people to do more “because there are lots of students who are eager to learn and who have ideas that they can put into practice if they have good supervision. He said, “I believe it is a matter of encouragement. Most Nigerian universities should be able to do wonderful things and make major breakthroughs”, noting that some students were co-opted into the team to learn how to operate or fly the drones. The Drone Team Coordinator enjoined the newly appointed ministers especially for the areas of science and technology, “to see a need for us to self-develop, self-evolve, and self-emancipate as a nation”. He said, “For a long time now, we have relied on personnel from foreign countries to bail us out of every technical problem we get into, but the issue is that, we have so many Nigerians that are trained abroad that are here and even those who have not left the country that are equally talented that should be encouraged to do wonderful things for the nation.”
Prof. AbdulKareem maintained that the new ministers “should see their appointments as a chance of working with the academics in the educational institutions to promote what will be good for the nation, to make the nation as a whole self-reliant on personnel that are available locally.” In the same vein, Dr. Yakubu said, “We can also use the drone to monitor what is happening on our borders; we have a very vast amount of land, and we can use it to track activities that are going on there. Invariably, we can use the drones to cover the entire University and in getting information to the appropriate quarters. ”

Christianity Etc › Re: Weaknesses That Beset Youths And How To Overcome Them by Leez(m): 9:47am On Nov 22, 2015 |
Highcuerayte: And so I came online yesterday on my long abandoned 2go messenger where I had a discussion with one of my sons in the Lord. He was battling with a weakness that propelled me to create this thread to render help to youths who here, are struggling to overcome these weaknesses due to their retar'ded growth in the Spiritual realm into maturity. If this my son in the Lord at his age can be struggling with such thing I fear for the youths in the Churches and wonder if the shepherds are really shepherding.
As a youth filled with invigorating energy I have managed to list major weaknesses perhaps besetting sins which I myself have overcome in my early years in Faith and which as observed many sheep in the fold, mainly youths, are struggling with.
NOTE: If you are struggling with a weakness not listed, all you have to do is make it known. Spiritual people here will help you with it.
1. Mendacity: Mendacity means telling lies. Taking myself as an example then, I do lie. I lie with such intensity that can raised the dead if such lies are told against them, the dead I assume cannot keep quiet to such lies. But then somehow i understand mendacity is a bad trait, a trait not found in Christ. And since it's not found in Christ, it can't be in the Father and the command is "Be yee perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" and I want to be perfect. But how did I stop telling lies?
Each weakness have other weakness(es) they feed on and the lieing spirit have a weakness he feeds on. Generalization of weaknesses as default of the flesh is dangerous and destructive to sons of God as they are not, example is fear which is the weakness that makes one lie. Fear is attributed to the spirit not the flesh. To overcome the temptation to lie you must first overcome the spirit of fear, the only way to save someone under electric shock is switching off the light not touching the person. Your problem is not lieing, fear is. You lie only when you are afraid of the revelation of Truth. You tell a lie when you are afraid of mortal men. Stop being afraid of men and you won't be telling lies again.
2. Sexual Urge: It takes me with much surprise when I see Youths complain about their Sexual urge. I wonder if I am not human since I don't feel these urges but then I see am not the only one like this, there are thousands of us like that in the Church. Excuse are it's natural, assume it is, but If not controlled you end up fornicating and masturbating, sisters in the fellowship take turns every night and before you know it you have become father Abraham with many sons. And these things above are works of the flesh which makes them sins when left unchecked gradually replaces the light in you with darkness till you see nothing wrong with what you are doing.
Sexual urges can be controlled, not only controlled but stopped at the same time. Yes, you read me well, it can be stopped. Now many shepherds understand self control is the key, what is needed to control it. But ask them how do you exercise this self control they had no knowledge of how.So how do you apply self control?
Sexual urges agreed has it's source rooted deep in the flesh.Meaning, it is dead without the flesh . So if you live every hour in the spiritual realm instead of the physical Sexual urges will cease to exist. Living in the spirit is not a difficult thing to do.Now am aware living in spirit to some means speaking in tongues. Well, that is not true, living in the spirit is having your mind more on spiritual things instead of things on earth. Above instead of below. As you set your mind on spiritual things you become spiritually alive oblivious of things around, even your body becomes dead. With the death of the body comes the end of the Sexual urges. Understand this process is painful if you have gone through it as a son of God but the fruit of it is worth the pains.
3. Anger: If asked the probabilty of not getting angry in a day you had probably said 0%. Anger in youths you will agree with me are destructive. And sometimes after the action you ask yourself why on earth did you get angry but at such time it has always been as of other times, late. From what I see you can live without getting angry.Sounds impossible but it's possible. That is if you are ready to lead a gentle and meek life.
Anger unlike Sexual urge is a thing of the mind. You overcome the mind you get rid of anger. During those days when I began the quest of conquering anger I learned from the Bible before anger there must be an offence. You must feel offended, cheated and jilted. So the problem is not anger, it's about the negative feeling, emotional feelings. So why not get rid if this negative feelings?
Getting rid of negative feelings is not a hard or impossible thing to do. It only involve adjusting your mind to insults and taking life with levity, all things as vanity.
God's plan for you as a youth is great. As great as those plans are so also are great the challenges. As great as these challenges are, greater still is Christ that lives in you.It might takes days, it might takes weeks, months, even years. No matter how long, just keep trying till you attain the stature of the Son Of God.
God bless us all.

Politics › Re: How President Buhari Can Stop Boko Haram - Prophet Cardinal Onaiyekan by Leez(m): 9:31am On Nov 22, 2015 |
DanceVille: Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the catholic Archbishop of Abuja, has revealed what President Muhammadu Buhari should do to stop the deadly Boko Haram insurgency. The prominent cleric has advised the incumbent Nigerian leader to involve the sect in negotiations. Onaiyekan, who is the ex- president of the Christian Association of Nigeria spoke in Abuja at the 2015 Catholic Television of Nigeria dinner. The cleric said: “ What happened in Mali can happen here. We do not need people to cause this kind of great calamity.
“The question is how do you create a situation where such things don’t happen? “It is not easy but you can do all you can to put security apparatus around but you cannot do it in such a way that no bad people will move around. “As a spiritual leader, the solution is first we should pray because God can do everything. “Secondly, we should look into our religious messages, because many of these terrorists are also calling the name of some religion, calling the name of God. “But we must find a way of letting them (Boko Haram members) know that this is not what God wants. “I personally do not know how to achieve this but I believe that a lot still needs to be done. “When you (government) reply fire for fire I am afraid it does not solve the problem.
“So, apart from military tactics there is need for more effort as political discussion, reaching out to people. “Even the terrorists are human beings born of a woman with feelings. I am sure somebody somewhere can talk to them.” During the presidential campaign Buhari pledged not to hold talks with the terrorists if chosen as president. Meanwhile, in a BBC interview several months ago the president has welcomed talks with Boko Haram insurgents.
The last ceasefire agreement between the militants and Nigerian government in October 2014 has failed when the Boko Haram sect rejected that they had agreed to a ceasefire with Goodluck Jonathan’s government. Negotiations with the insurgents in recent years have failed to achieve a peace deal, partly because it has several rival factions.

IPOB are rebels and should be dealt with mercilessly. Nigeria is too ethnically mixed for a small group of rebels to want to divide us. What happened to millions of Igbos that are married to Yorubas, Hausas and other tribes? Biafra was defeated and will be defeated and destroyed one more time.
No one is treating Igbos wrongly. They have a fair share in the ministerial portfolios. They are doing well all over Nigeria. Ezegozie: Goodevening Ladies and Gentlemen. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Gozie and I graduated from Geology department from one of our Federal Universities in Nigeria (name hidden for confidential reasons). Well, I am currently serving in Akwaibom state and will pass out next year by April, but I have great fear borthering me sometimes, and that is LIFE AFTER NYSC.
I am an ardent visitor of Job and Vacancy section and I always read some threads created by Job seekers complaining of how Nigeria is devoid of employment and each time I see it, I feel disturbed.
REASONS WHY I AM AFRAID OF LIFE AFTER NYSC
1......My parents are both in the village and I dont have anyplace to go to after service while waiting for employment because I wont like to stay in the village.
2.........Though I graduated with Second Class Upper, I dont have any single connection in the industry and I have been reading posts of how life without connection can be miserable for a job seeker.
3........The highest I can save from this NYSC scheme is 100k, which is not enough capital to venture into any reasonable thing in Nigeria.
Please I seriously need your advice on what to do in other to get Job immediately I finish service next year April because that is the only surest way to raise capital.
I plan to relocate to PH and rent house there while waiting for employment because PH is well industralized and there are lots of oil companies , construction companies and other companies related to my course located in PH.
Looking forward to hearing your response. all dis attention seeking nl members creating bogus threads to get our attention lmfao |
