RomanceRe: Who Is A Friend? by leighcon(m): 2:36pm On Sep 14, 2007
koladz:
A friend is,
A push when you've stopped,
A word when you're lonely,
A guide when you're searching,
A light when you go blind;
A glass of ice lemonade when you feel thirsty,
A colour-drenched scene when you're in the dark.
A guarantee when you're uncertain,
A cheer when you fear,
A smile when you're sad,
A song when you're glad,
A sense of trust when you're in deep rest.
Do we really have such a "friend"?

I would want you to go by the saying of "when you get to the bridge you cross it"

It is prematured to be apprehensive of the reason he wants to see you, in fact you should have allowecd him come, hear him then if need be post the issue online to seek an advice.

We really don't know for instance the circumstances that led to your break up because that is like more of a determining factor to what happens to your future courtings.

Do you now HATE him because you broke up? Take him as a friend and let him show up. If he says anything, you need not give him a conclusive answer immediately you can always come to the forum for views.

Hear me, welcome him first.

Seun thumbs up to you for nairaland, it will soon be about the most popular local content driven forum, in no distant time

Ladies and Gentlemen, I had to laugh for some hours before deciding to contribute, but haba naija people am just begging you stay at home and be counted( Oh you think am that patriotic) noooo,  I just feel for government, they've spent a lot and I think we should at least spend part of the misapproriated tax payers money by being counted.(I've not said am going to stay at home oo)

Bicycles,Okada, speed boats and other mobility items and sorry some brand new Hilux have been bought(see u the ones for COJA are no more now) So we had to buy all these things, pay people, repaint the NPC office, Organise a flambouyant show in ABJ, Pay exorbitant prices for those adverts(of course we made adverts u either didn't have light or you can't afford newspapers) and you still don't want to be counted, you think it is like the $214 million ID card Project noo that one died because the minister in charge died, NPC chairman is not dieing(he no dey board local airline talkless of crashing) so the project will live.

Hmmn People you think am complying myself, I am self employed and goverment won't feed me for those days, infact I prefer not to be counted so government need not make plans for me, already I provide my own water, electricity, drainages to my house and all that are done without goverment intervention so I don't think I need further plans from them, Security nko (Police koo Police nii) I just brough in Garba from sokoto to take care of that.

Meanwhile if this people jam me for road I'll subject myself to enumeration provided I won't be delayed. Otherwise anybody who attempts to arrest me is also contravening the stay at home order. Uncle Sege did not even tell us the penalty. May be detention in Otta till we actualise our 2007 agenda, I beg till another day

I thought this argument on win 98 and windows xp shld have been over by now. With a self acclaimed authority I declare all those who supported windows XP as being better than win98 as the winners. make we close case I beg.

ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 5:49pm On Feb 28, 2006
The problem of nitel is not in their`capability but the bureaucratic bottle necks that hinder their ability. Let's wait for their privatisation first for the SAT-3 link to be better, I understand they don't even have enough IPS

ComputersRe: Why Win 2000, Win Xp or Windows Vista When There's Win 98? by leighcon(m): 10:40pm On Jan 23, 2006
I just discovered an unfinished work in win xp, File and print sharing is restricted to only 10 SIMULTENOUS users. Guys I had to downgrade a file server to windows98 in order to beat this limitation. All the same Xp is da bomb for now. I feel for you my friends that have decided to stick to the greek days windows, everybody cannot be adapting to changes at the same spate
ComputersRe: Why Win 2000, Win Xp or Windows Vista When There's Win 98? by leighcon(m): 9:10pm On Dec 17, 2005
Everybody is correct here but our windows 98 fans are not wiser than microsoft now. In actual fact however XP is best enjoyed if your hardware is robust. And I beg keep up with updates and you'll discover that the XP side of life is the real thing.
But win98 in 2005 na wa o. It is better to find a solution to your colour T.V than reverting to Black and white cos u'll never win a gift in a T.V request Programme, what if they ask you to state the colour of the dress the person on your screen is putting on. ah ah u see why now.
ComputersRe: Which is Better:The Pentium or the AMD? by leighcon(m): 10:50pm On Dec 16, 2005
SirKay wants to know the difference between Pentium and AMD Athlon and why we are Pentium crazy in Nigeria.

Intel makes Celeron and Pentium for SOHO users while AMD makes Duron and Athlon for SOHO as well. I kind of categorise celeron and Duron to be on the same ruggedity level while Pentium and Athlon also have same level of ruggedity. but experts have however found out that Athlon has what I refer to as bigger piping than pentium also they found out that athlon has a better caching compared to pentium.

Hmn you also want to know why we are pentium crazy in Nigeria. simple! it is what we see that we buy, Intel has made more inroad into Nigeria market than AMD. it is up to AMD to fight it out with intel, I mean these guys (intel) has patnered with Zinox, Omatek & co as well as these CAPDAN in Ikeja, So what do you expect. kajiko

Since holy ghost(make I use small letters abi) would not answer us anymore may be I should answer @Tezdor he wants to know specs of PCs good for a cafe.
Just imagine that all possible sorts of actions will be performed with your pcs by dear customers. So I feel you should go for a PIII 600mhz and above with 128RAM.  That's what I feel should be the minimum sha if you want to go for P4 Go na you sabi that one. peace

ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 8:32am On Nov 30, 2005
But Joftech someone who buys a 1.5mb downlink shouldn't be refered to as a small time user now. I mean such a fellow should be able to take the bulls of SAT3 by the horns
ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 8:16pm On Nov 29, 2005
@ Elaiho: Na you biko, you can afford to be buying 1.5mb downlink on vsat and u still dey follow us hustle for SAT-3. If you can afford that on VSAT I don't think attempting to have SAT 3 link should be a problem for you. Well I no know ooo

People Elaiho has spoken about globacom using satellite, but if the reliability is there, is it not a better option to VSAT vendors ripping us off?
BusinessRe: Setting Up a Cyber-cafe: What Does It Take? by leighcon(m): 7:55pm On Nov 29, 2005
Seye I hope U heard Trae's xperience with cool cafe SPEEED!!! so that's very essential to work on. high speed is the goal not the means of connectivity. stay cool
ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 3:30pm On Nov 28, 2005
SAT-3!! SAT-3!! SAT-3!! SAT-3!! SAT-3!!,
Everyone wants to know but the information seems to be hoarded by the privileged few. I think they are only selling to the big folks "who also have the right information" But at least Nitel should be able to put some information on their website, but even the website I can't comment on it anyway but can somebody please visit www.nitelnet.com and see what a shameful national carrier can look like. Anyway I have decided to focus on what computel has in stock for me.
Somehow everyone has been avoiding comment on the ability of globacom to offer broadband.

@joftech: naira.com's site used to be naira.net but I think it's down for now may be you should give them a call.

@delarontus: I am located in Ibadan, need between 512kbps and 1mb
ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 9:57am On Nov 28, 2005
Elaiho I can't figure out what you mean by the statement below:
"Globacom at the moment will not be able to suit my purpose, since they have a terrestrial link, which would give higher response times even at the same bandwidth, with a fibre link."

I have gone to make enquiries at the Nitel Zonal office in Ibadan and I discovered that the members of staff there do not even have as much information as I have. Infact before this year the Ibadan office was being provided email facility by skannet, Imagine!!. I was directed to about 9 different offices in Nitel and I was able to site something that looked like a computer running windows 95 in one office. They have facilities they do not know about. So bad to the extent that some of them even demonstrated ignorance of the benefits of SAT -3. I have decided to leave nitel alone for now but my fear is that these guys who claim they resell might end up short changing one in terms of bandwidth. I still think we should be able to explore globacom's gloxpress @ least they advertise it every now and then claiming they have started selling to banks
ComputersRe: How Do I Get Bandwidth Via SAT-3? (NITEL Wholesale Internet Services) by leighcon(m): 8:29pm On Nov 26, 2005
Yea am actually aware that Globacom still uses satellite to link Europe for their bandwith, I feel however that it has been well optimized for internet usage because I have seen it work well via their GPRS modem and the speed was pretty o.k.
I just want to have the idea of how an ISP can get hooked to gloxpress broadband. May be the Globacom IP and Fibreoptic Engineering Manager friend of yours can help out
BusinessRe: Setting Up a Cyber-cafe: What Does It Take? by leighcon(m): 11:45am On Nov 26, 2005
Really you don't know who has made it big in the cybercafe business from what you see from the outside. The fact that they have a good setup may not actually mean that they have done so with the revenue they get from the business itself. I'll still want to say that in cybercafe business you need to invest in the best or forget that the business will last. you can also check out this folks http://www.coollink.us/cybercafe.html . But then you should think of adding some unconventional businesses too like berbecue joint , gaming centre, resource centre and stuffs like that. You can start small butdonot manage equipment. Good luck
BusinessRe: Setting Up a Cyber-cafe: What Does It Take? by leighcon(m): 6:56pm On Nov 25, 2005
Seye am a cybercafe operator and really am not out to discourage you but to tell you some facts. I have operated in a difficult terrain in Ibadan for five years.
Really setting up a cybercafe is left to me one of the easiest things to do in the world, but then running it is the most difficult task I have ever encoutered and I think that is why u see that cybercafes constitute a high percentage of businesses closing down. I'ld tell you these
1. There is a non stop revenue stream in it but the break even rate is low
2. You must never compromise your equipment standard, Go for the most reliable of the equipment but not necessarilly the most expensive
3. As per your link your goal should not be the means of connection but the speed. but If you are going for a VSAT please do not Go for KU band as you'll regret when the rains come. Some ISPs can have good wireless links so if you are not buying more that a 128kbps downlink I don't suggest you go for VSAT.
4. Bani made a lot of sense when he said it takes guts to run a cybercafe, Imagine my experience when my Generator blew up 6 monitors, my switch a week after my wireless link started having signal interference that we eventually couldn't solve till like after three months
