Christianity Etc › Re: Anglican Church In Rome & Bible And Beer Fellowship Shocks Nigerian Lawyer by lekancaring(m): 7:50pm On Dec 22, 2016 |
dainformant: A Nigerian lawyer and songwriter, Maka Sam-Ejehu, has revealed her shock after attending a church service in Rome, Italy -where she was told Bible and beer go hand-in-hand. According to her, the Christians over gather sometimes for 'beer fellowship' unlike their counterparts in Nigeria.
Read what she shared below;
I went to an Anglican Church in Rome yesterday and the Reverend as he was rounding up the service said, "please don't forget the Bible and Beer fellowship happening this Tuesday..." Immediately, I looked up from my phone in utter surprise!!! Bible and Beer!!! Could it be possible that my two favorite words were used in the same sentence and not in a negative way? Wow!!! After church, I had to meet one of the members to clarify. He laughed and said, "oh yeah, its just something we like to do. We fellowship together and have some beer while at it!" I told him back home in Nigeria, I doubt that could ever happen. In fact, as a Christian, it was "frowned upon" to be seen drinking alcohol let alone drinking it while "fellowshipping in God's presence. Anyways, I have a lot more to say but I'll just let you guys draw your conclusions. Ciao

lifezone247: Mrs. Oge Elendu sent this pictures to NEWISSUES of where National Youth Service Corps members are housed in Bauchi. They would be camped here for 21 days. And she wrote this short note below.
“So my younger sister was posted to Borno state for the ongoing NYSC orientation camp, but she’s camping in Bauchi state due to the security situation in Borno.
“Below are some pictures of the dilapidated building where she and some others girls have been condemned to spend 21 days. The rooms are dingy, infested with bed bugs and a sickening stench of Urine. This is wicked and totally unacceptable!
“Why should a country treat her citizens less than pigs and expect any form of productivity or patriotism from them! It’s a shame!
“I beg you all to please share this post until it gets to the Presidency. Our graduates deserve better!”
This is really outrageous and unacceptable. http://www.newissuesmagazine.com/2016/11/shocking-pictures-of-nysc-accomodation-in-bauchi/ this is very bad in our country please does girls should look for better place to camp |

squash1986: The attention of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, has been drawn to the erroneous publication in today's New Telegraph newspapers and picked by the social media to the effect that Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, owned by top businessman, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah was suspended by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and also ordered to pay N10 million fine for allegedly selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise called petrol, above the official ex-depot price of N77.66 per liter. Nothing could be further from the truth.
This is because the company that was affected is Capital Oil Petroleum Limited, not Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited. And the two companies have no affiliation whatsoever. It is a pity that Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, which is the leading champion of dispensing petroleum products at the approved prices, could be dragged into this report, even when the two companies are not the same, nor share common facility anywhere.
When a news break, it is expected that journalists should not rush into reporting issues of this nature without, especially sensitive issues at a time when the nation is facing stiff difficulties. One had expected that any sensible journalist should first cross-check information brought to the newsroom before rushing to press with such high falutin but false information.
This simple task would have cleared all doubts on this issue. The rule of journalism still remains: When in doubt, leave out. Or you simply cross-check, which is just a telephone call away.
We implore those the authors and sponsors of this false information to please retract and correct the false impression created for the benefit of all right thinking Nigerians who have obviously been misled into believing the lie that Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, may have been involved in any malfeasance.
Signed

Politics › Re: Dickson Storms INEC Collation Centre, Southern Ijaw - The Nation by lekancaring(m): 7:11pm On Dec 06, 2015 |
kahal29: The Governor of Bayelsa State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr. Seriake Dickson, Sunday morning, reportedly forced his way into the collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Onopa, Yenagoa LGA.
The Sylva/Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO) said Dickon stormed the place at about 11pm Saturday night and threatened to ‘deal seriously’ with agents of the APC, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, former Deputy Governor and Mr. Fortune Panebi, State Publicity Secretary of the APC.
SICO’s Director, Media and Publicity, Chief Nathan Egba said the action of Dickson was clearly against the electoral law as he had no authority as a candidate to go to the Yenagoa Collation Centre especially as he was not from the LGA.
He alleged that the governor, who threatened to deal with the two APC agents, was at the collation centre to manipulate results being collated from different wards in Yenagoa.
He said: “The APC agents were said to have countered the moves by the PDP to manipulate the results that had been turned-in before some aides to the Governor alerted him of the developments at the Yenagoa Collation centre.
“The APC decided to raise the alarm and place the information in the public domain as the Governor’s desperation in the face of imminent defeat is such that he is ready all electoral laws”, he said.
He said fresh reports further indicated that the governor early morning in Sunday led a large delegation to Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, to protest against the rescheduled election.
He said: “Governor Dickson is from Sagbama Local Government Area and has no basis going to monitor conduct of an election in another Local Government Area on an election day in line with the electoral guidelines.
“This is clearly an act of desperation by the Governor, who is the candidate of the PDP in the election.
“Dickson, in company of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Kombowei Benson, who is from the LGA reportedly met with INEC officials on the ground and told them not to go ahead with the poll.
“The INEC officials had reportedly told the Governor, he had no powers to stop the election.
“Governor Dickson was the chief sponsor of violent attacks in most of the communities.”

lekancaring:

* Says President making noise in foreign lands about non-existing fight against corruption * Urges him to get to work, instead of junketing around the globe
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Thursday, berated President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim that many of those who looted the public treasuries in the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan had started returning the stolen funds to the government, saying the President should rather stay at home to govern the country instead of junketing around the globe and acting like a saint before the international community.
In a statement issued in in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose challenged President Buhari to tell Nigerians how much was returned and the looters who returned the stolen funds, adding that “Since the purported looted funds belong to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it ought to have been paid into the Federation Account and shared by the Federal, State and Local Government.”
Fayose advised Buhari to tackle the collapsed economy of the country headlong, instead of going from one country to another, casting aspersion on Nigerians with his sing-song of fighting corruption.
He said the President’s attitude was yet to change from that of 1984 when he was military Head of State, adding that, “Buhari’s statement in Tehran, Iran that it was easier for him as a military Head of State in 1984 to arrest corrupt individuals and put them in protective custody was a pointer to the fact that he has not changed from the dictator that he was then. Dis is change we all glamour for change form d civilian rule to a dictatorship
“The truth is that Buhari did not fight corruption in 1984. Rather, he persecuted great Nigerians, especially the likes Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Ambrose Ali, Chief Bisi Onabanjo, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Bola Ige, who served the people meritoriously. Is Buhari justifying the imprisonment of Dr Alex Ekwueme, who was only the Vice President or All Progressives Congress (APC) leader like Chief Bisi Akande, who only served as a Deputy Governor?”
While urging the President to stop acting like the sole-administrator of Nigeria and the only honest man among Nigerians, Governor Fayose said: “Nigerians are desirous of concrete developments, not rhetoric about fight against corruption that is only being used to persecute perceived political enemies of the President both in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and within the APC.
“As at today, Nigerians are faced with serious hardship occasioned by prolonged fuel scarcity that the Federal Government does not have any solution to. Multi-national companies are laying-off thousands of workers while contractors working for the Federal Government have left their sites.
“Yet, what we get to hear from the President is noise in foreign lands about non-existing fight against corruption. Honestly, this President should get to work and stop lying to Nigerians and the international community.”
